Analyzing the Playing Field‘I can’t help but feel like Arma would be more useful to the team if he had a melee weapon in his hands. It seems like giving him a bow would be comparable to giving a chef a kunai knife.’

From within the soul room, Kasper glanced towards the direction of Arma, the boundless body of energy presently grasping Sebastian tightly in one hand, a weapon far suited towards the more stealth like, an attribute that Kasper doubted the golden streaked boy had, his rambunctious attitude thus far giving him little reason to doubt that opinion. ”I’d have to agree” replied Kasper, his tone rather calm as he continued to acclimate to the sensation of being connected to a new Meister. His breathing was a bit faster than it usually was as he continued to re-adjust himself ever so slightly. Having been wielded before, he hadn’t been expecting the completely different feel that Kye’s soul had. He merely assumed that it would have been the same. How wrong he was. “You never know. Arma may surprise us., If I remember correctly the earliest records of Black Star had pegged him as quite the loudmouth as well” offered Kasper, as he began to scan the rest of the playing field for potential weaknesses to exploit.

‘I missed one, but I don’t know who the last one on our team is,’ she remarked. ‘Hopefully they’ll fill in where they’re needed. For now, call ‘em as you see ‘em, Kasper. We’ve got a lot of space to cover and quite a few team members that need to get into position before we can really go on offense.”

Several members of the blue team had begun to move; their reactions to the start of the bell being far quicker than the rest of red team; the other members seemingly still pratting about around the flag. Elyn was the obvious choice to defend, his weapon form that he had been so eager to reveal was basically catered towards the art of defense, though Kasper did suspect he was still holding secrets as to what he could really do. Carlin, the flag bearer was a complete unknown to both friend and foe outside of being autonomous, so whether he excelled at offense or defense was still a mystery. Presently the rest of the group seemed to be rather quiet on the offensive aspect, Viola and her partner appearing to observe the oncoming blue team, while Erik presently held firm to the large Anchor.

“It seems like outside of Arma and ourselves, the others are remaining quite close to our flag” began Kasper, now turning to face the blue team; the sight of the two latest arrivals quickly catching his eye as they charged forward; a triple point dagger like weapon held firm in the dark haired Meister’s hand. Kasper had not seen the transformation occur, though the flash of silver as they began to break their lines was enough to get his interest. “Over there” Kasper spoke, directing their attention to the duo, a grin widening across Kasper’s face as Adriella proceeded to throw her weapon towards Carlin. Rather than being concerned for his own team’s safety, Kasper only looked at the opportunity in front of them. “She should be our first target” an almost sinister undertone to his voice as he focused on the now exposed Meister.

Raining GlassWhile listening to her weapon partner’s comments and commentary, Kyleigha’s eyes had been surveying everything that was happening on the battlefield below them. She couldn’t hide some pride when most of their team members actually accepted the assignments she’d given them with quite a bit of gusto. Even though none of them knew Kye all that well, it seemed her strategy made enough sense for them to trust it, and Kyleigha knew that was the first step in getting to the top and maintaining her family’s legacy.

Unlike Kasper, though, Kyleigha’s eyes quickly sought out the enemy’s flag rather than seeking any opportunity she could find, and she quickly realized that the blue team’s flag bearer was receiving almost no attention at all from either team. Her gaze did shift briefly to the potential target her weapon pointed out, seeing the meister’s soul with some reasonable clarity. Wait… no. Not meister. ‘She’s a weapon, too,’ Kye remarked. ‘Should still work just the same, though. A weapon’s not as strong without a meister. I wanna do one quick thing, though.’ Luckily for their team, Kat and Elyn had managed to stop the attack that Audriella had sent flying.

Kasper raised a brow at Kye’s discovery, the thought that Audriella was a weapon had not even come to mind; though outside of being surprising it did little to change his opinion on who to target. It made little difference whether she was a weapon or a Meister, especially when her partner was currently flying towards Carlin’s ankle. “What do you wanna try?” questioned Kasper, as he watched Arma get jumped by Koira; the split haired girl leaving her weapon form as she grasped his face tightly with her thighs. Kasper quickly turned away, remaining quiet; his first thoughts as a man being unimportant to this game that they needed to win. Kye and Kasper could not protect everyone in their group and seeing as the others were slower to get off the starting line, it was their responsibility to be the aggressors.

‘We’re going to break that window… they look a little too comfortable up there away from all the fighting. Might be less so with glass raining on their heads.’

Kasper’s attention went towards the glass window above the duo, a satisfactory smile appearing on his face as he enjoyed the idea of causing a bit of harm towards Quinn. Kasper had not forgotten the brief looks they had exchanged with one another, that feeling of ‘He is a problem’ still clear in his mind. “Fine, let’s do it,” agreed Kasper, his eyes fixed upon the target. “Remember what I told you about focusing and compressing the energy towards the tip of your finger, shape the bullet and I will guide it towards the target”

Kyleigha’s eyes returned to where Quinn had stopped high up and out of the way, but there was a window right above him and that was what she took aim at. A bolt of pure soul energy appeared at the tip of her finger and she focused more energy there than she would have if she were aiming at a person given the rules of their game. She needed enough force to break the window, after all. Once she knew it would be enough, though, Kyleigha released it and her gaze quickly turned away, knowing that her aim was true and that once the window broke, glass would be raining down on the weapon and meister pair who she wanted to direct back towards the actual fighting so that maybe her teammates would go after them.

Don’t Bring a Knife to a GunfightNot waiting to make sure it worked as planned, Kye dove down off the bleachers towards where Audriella sat vulnerable in the middle of the field without a partner. Landing on the ground, she jumped over the dark haired girl and while in midair above her, fired a single bolt straight down.

Audriella was at the time paying attention to a giant shield that just blocked her sister and in her distraction, she almost missed a bullet being launched at her. Freaking out, Audriella rolled out of the way. Audriella then quickly looked in the direction of her sister, “Bell! Try to get back to me. We can’t do much when we are apart.”

After landing on the ground with a subtle cling, Lilibell quickly transformed back into her human form once she heard her sister yell for her. Lilibell was quick to get back on her feet and spring toward her sister.

“Don’t let her come back here!” shouted Kasper overhearing Audriella cry out for her sister. “Keep them separate for as long as possible. This is a hole in their team and I want to rip it open even more.” The sinister undertone was now clearly prevalent in his voice as his soul began to fluctuate ever so slightly in his eagerness to punish Audriella and Lilibell for their gung-ho charge forward.

Kasper didn’t need to ask Kyleigha twice. As she landed nimbly on her feet after her midair shot, Kye’s entire focus shifted towards Lilibell, who’d turned to her human form and was running towards them. Small bullets started raining in Bell’s general direction, coming one after another after another. “Keep that up, keep peppering her with shots, I’ll keep an eye on her partner.”

A Surprise Partial TransformationAudriella was quick to notice that Kyleigha came close enough to her for Audriella to partially transform her arm into her sai weapon form. She swung her arm and slashed at Kyleigha’s arm.

Lilibell, meanwhile, did the best she could to avoid the raining bullets, managing to avoid some, but she still stumbled to the ground getting hit by other bullets. As Lilibell got herself up from the ground she leaped up into the air and found her body flipping as she softly landed back on her feet.

“Kye, behind you” came Kasper’s voice as they rained bullets in Lilibell’s direction. From behind them, the meister half of this duo began to shift one of her arms into the same weapon form that had earlier been thrown, three pronged blades appearing for her arm as Audriella charged towards them, arm swinging as she aimed directly for Kye’s arm. “Watch out!”

All fire stopped as Kyleigha instead launched herself into the air and sent her body into an agile backflip that brought her once again over the top of Audriella before landing on the opposite side of the brunette. A small grimace consumed her expression as some of the blade’s tip did manage to dig into the skin of her arm in the process leaving what amounted to slightly more than a papercut. She didn’t let it stop her, though. When she landed, she didn’t stop, her movements carrying her back to put more distance between them because distance was where her advantage laid. And once that happened, Kyleigha resumed raining gunshots down on them, not quite realizing or processing that in that same general direction were Kat, Elyn and Carlin.

The adrenaline subsided from Audriella from what just happened, from the corner of her eye she noticed her sister had managed to make it back to her in time. “Bell it’s your turn.” Audriella spoke as she jumped into the air creating a flip into her transformation of her Sai.

Lilibell quickly grabbed her sister and gave a slight smile knowing it was now her time to wield her sister. Her smirk faded when she noticed that it was once again raining bullets and soon began dodging bullets again. She cringed in pain as she was once again not able to dodge all the bullets. None of them were really fiery enough to cause too much damage, but it was like getting a pebble thrown at you; it still hurt.

Sebastian Yumi and Arma Torrez
d177cbb77d7bcf9ca2e11a810329253e.jpg
From his weapon form and within his little soul space, Sebastian had been minutely aware of some of the things going on in the areas around Arma. Sure, most of his focus was concentrated on making sure Arma figured out how to fire the bow appropriately, but he still had a small amount of energy left to devote to other things. That was why he was able to yell within the soul space when he saw the giant scythe transforming into a human as it flew straight for the two of them. ‘Arma, look out!’ Apparently, his warning came about two seconds too late.

It was an extremely confusing couple of seconds for the young meister, from hearing his partner yell for him to watch before suddenly having his head clutched between a pair of thighs as he was flipped from his position down toward the arena floor. The CRAZY thing is, it didn’t even end there! Without a second to prepare for his incoming date with the ground, he was shoved further toward it by another weight suddenly being pressed upon him as someone else seemed to use him like a bounce pad! Seemingly through instinct, the fast approaching ground did not scare him, one hand reaching toward it outstretched as if grasping for it. ‘That was SO COOL! Hey Sebastian I hope you’re ready to fire again! We can’t let up the pressure!’ Turning his body so that his elbow had been facing the ground, it had absorbed some of the shock from the fall, allowing Arma to break into a roll that absorbed the rest of the damage while maintaining some of the momentum. Rather than popping him back to his feet though, the loudmouth launched himself into the air, once again aiming for the blue team’s flagbearer.

‘Don’t get too close,’ Sebastian warned his partner as he realized they were still going after Quinn. He’d heard the window shatter mere seconds ago and saw glass pieces glimmering in the light. Nonetheless, though, as he felt his bowstring being stretched once again, Sebastian pulled some of his meister’s soul wavelength into the shot and he once again blunted the tip. ‘Fire now!’

In his focused state, the shorty didn’t even recognize that his teammates had already been brought into the thick of things. Yet he heard his partner, and followed his guidance. Once he had let the arrow fly, he would turn his body midair so he was no longer diving face first into the wall, rather his outstretched legs being the first to meet it. Once it did, he would crouch against as if to build up pressure before launching back toward his team once again. ‘Hey hey didja see that scythe girl and her meister?’

‘Barely,’ Sebastian replied. It had all happened so fast that it had been hard to keep track of at the time. ‘You should probably watch out for her, though. I imagine if we keep firing arrows at their teammate, they’ll keep pursuing us and my weapon form doesn’t exactly work in an up close and personal fight against a scythe.’ He didn’t necessarily think that that would stop Arma from trying, but he still had to grasp firmly onto what little hope he had of surviving without a scratch.

‘That’s fine! I think that after I got used as a double jump they went where we were before!’

‘Well, watch your back. We never know when they could jump back down.’ For the time being, though, Sebastian’s attention remained focused on the weapon and meister pair that held the blue flag. Surely they were going to move out of the way, right? Glass was falling. Arrows were sailing towards them. He wanted to see what trick this guy had up his sleeve.

The Valentina and Milo Story: A Lot of Catching Up to Do!
"Wait!"

Milo stopped in his stride and turned to give her a confused sideways glance over his shoulder. His golden eyes met her icy blue ones for a moment, and he turned fully towards her as not to be disrespectful.

"Everyone is taken it seems. You won't have much luck finding a partner. It seems you and I were left behind by fate.”

It was true. He noted now that each person around him had seemed to find a partner, even if some seemed less eager than others. Even the man with the strange purple soul had gone to the strange siblings that entered the gym quite late.

"I appreciate your apology and we got off on the wrong foot. I can give you a chance to prove yourself until after the game if I decide to keep you, though it seems unlikely given how you're stuck with me for a year, should you accept?” Milo looked back to her, tilted his head and offered a smile big enough to almost close his eyes. “I’m glad.” Perhaps fewer words would be more effective here, at least until he built up some form of good will from her. He took a step towards her and had his hand outstretched. “Then we shake upon it.”

Valentina stared at the offered hand, surprised that he easily acknowledged her. She couldn’t help but scoff and wear a lopsided grin under her mask. Gladly, her gloved hand shakes his. “You got it.” Milo’s smile had faded somewhat when she hesitated, but it returned once she grabbed his hand. “Then we’re partners, even if only temporary.” His entire body, clothing and all, began to glow as they held hands, and as particles of light floated off of him he suddenly turned into a matrix of energy and shifted, until Valentina found herself holding a long katana in her hand. Light glimmered from the bright line that followed the edge of the sword. "What shall I call you then, Meister?"

The platinum blonde gasps in awe as Milo transforms, shaping into his weapon form. She has seen it plenty of times when her father’s partner transformed for their mission, but when it’s a meister’s first weapon, the feeling is magical. A sword, that’s what Milo shaped himself into. A beautiful color radiating with its own light as if indeed blessed by the gods. “Neimovernyy.” She whispered. A weapon so familiar to her that she would not have any trouble whatsoever wielding against her opponents. A wooden sword is all she knew but to have one is a different story. Milo’s voice somehow echoing through her. It spooked her honestly. “W-wait? You can still talk in this form?” She asked, a genuine shock adorned on her face.

"Of course. When our wavelengths are this close, we can hear one another’s thoughts. Milo explained. I didn’t expect this to be news to you, but I will be as courteous as I possibly can be if that eases your mind, um, Ney… Neymoveny?” He attempted, completely misunderstanding Valentina’s exclamation. Once Milo explained the capabilities between meister and weapon, her face nearly burned a bright red from embarrassment. She had forgotten such a function existed and the fact that her thoughts will constantly be heard; however, Milo assured her privacy. “Neimovernyy.” She reiterated. “It means incredible in Russian.”

Oh. Milo was pretty taken aback and deeply complimented by that revelation, but decided to keep his mouth shut lest he invokes her anger again. "Well uh, ahem, thank you. Whenever this competition starts you might want to attempt to talk over wavelengths though. By the way, I understand if my form is less impressive than that of some others, but I do have this to offer…" Milo focused his healing wavelength and let it envelop Valentina, easing whatever burdens she may have and letting her feet feel lighter.

Is that what he believes she thinks about him after just complimenting his form? It shouldn't baffle the blonde with the way she had perceived the guy. What Milo bestowed on Valentina was a soothing sensation she could just lull to sleep. Again, the class was starting to move quickly with Mr. Xavian and Miss Ksenia giving new. orders on how Capture the Flag would be working. She was on team blue with four other, unfamiliar names. "They didn’t even bother to wait"

"Agreed, but I don't mind it. Speed is my specialty." She smirked. If the monk and Valentina were connected, he could certainly feel the shift in her personality compared to what she gave him in the beginning. As she strode towards her team, she spoke to him, "By the way, your form suits my style, you are just what I am looking for."

"Wonderful! Let’s see then what we’re capable of."
Especially in sword form, Milo had an easier time spotting souls than people, and he barely had time to get himself comfortable before the countdown start. "I assume you’re quite ready for this?"

"I'm always ready. I never let my guard down. It's the number one rule." Everything was happening so fast, she didn't know what the strategy was. Everyone seemed to be on their own. The flag bearer used their weapon to hang themselves up a great height and keep the opponents from getting close to him. "What a genius idea." One of her teammates, the blonde started barking orders at everyone as if she was made team captain. Usually Valentina was the automatic pick in any game, it was a first to allow someone to lead, having no problem in stepping back if it helped win the damn thing. Her grumbling was a contradiction. "A body guard? Of all the lousy choices-" Her hand clenching the sword tightly.

One of the best parts about being a weapon was not being able to be strangled in that state, a pleasure that Milo now had the good fortune of partaking in. “She’s just doing what she thinks is best, don’t mind her.” His thoughts instead went to their flagbearer who’d just catapulted themselves across the hall, and then the following takedown by Alice. “They’ve got range on us, maybe we want to take care of that first. What do you think?”

Valentina sighed heavily, “I don't think so. Orders are orders. If we must take matters into our own hands, maybe. For now, let us just see if she can lead.” She stood under Quinn nonchalantly, observing the enemy team. If a body guard is her status, then she will make use of the time to observe with Milo standing as if her cane. Palms resting on the blunt as the tip of the blade embedded into the stone, but just barely. “Hey, Milo, right? How good are you with soul perception?”

“Better than I am with seeing, if I’ll be honest. Why, have you got anything in mind?”

"Yes, I do. It's a long shot, but do you think you can read everyone clearly and tell me what we're up against? You know, who do you feel is a huge threat?"
In an instant, one of their teammates went charging ahead without a second thought. She shakes her head. “Fool.”

“Sure, why not. I’ll try.”
In the space within his mind that he currently inhabited, he closed his eyes. They were really only in the way when trying to perceive spirits. Once more the rainbow of souls glittered before him, and he struggled to keep his attention on one for long enough. “The one just sent from the bleachers is like a sugar rush, non-stop adrenaline junkie sort of guy. His bow is a different story altogether, so we could take advantage of their disparity.” He began, trying to quickly get a grip of each of the personalities presented before him. They were loud, too much of this and he’d figuratively go deaf.

“The two big guys, the meister has a whirlwind for a soul. Hints of insecurity or fear, pressed I think he’d become aggressive like with the wall. Might make him lose focus. The other one is… hungry. So hungry that just looking into him is making me peckish. I don’t know what else to say about him.” His spiritual gaze shifted over to the opposing team’s flagbearer, currently flanked by two more familiar ones.

“The flagbearer feels sickly, in a bad, infective way. He’s colorful, in the same way mold on ice cream is. Unstable at best. The shield weapon has an enormous soul, his name is Elyn. Confident, determined, steadfast. I would tread carefully, he, and his lion-like meister probably aren’t pushovers, no matter how they might look. And then…”

The last two he’d been looking for took him a second, but then he detected their souls up on the bleachers. “Then those two, they’re - ugh…” Milo opened his eyes, and Valentina could feel his wavelength wobble. “Sorry, it’s all just like… screaming in my ears…” He shook his head and closed his eyes once more, more strained this time. “Angry, they both feel angry. The weapon smells like deceit, sorry, looks like deceit, but reeks like… something. Ugh.” He stopped focusing on his perception once more, letting the thoughts wander to the back of his mind and lay to rest. “It’s always so loud, especially with all these meisters and weapons… The last one is probably a ranged weapon, like Arma’s weapon, judging by the way their wavelengths were melding.” His words trailed off like he was out of breath.

“Breathe in. Breathe out. Gone.” He repeated his mantra.

Valentina listened, and observed each candidate while making note of each person. Near the end, she felt their wavelength waver and she could feel his strain. She felt terrible for asking him to stretch his perception. It was incredible that he could even see so far. He truly was an impressive soul. "It's alright, that's enough. Thank you. You have provided sufficient information that will serve splendidly to our advantage. Rest."

Though it was invisible, Valentina could feel when Milo smiled. “It’s alright, I’m over it. Not much time to rest here anyway. So, what are you going to do?” Looking around, it seems everyone on the team has rushed forward with the blonde taking down the hyperactive boy from making a shot. So far everything was going well on her part. The only question is how to get close to the flag when team red has the upper hand in range and her own team had no choice but to be upfront. "I'm not sure, but I'll figure it out once we're in danger. I find peer pressure useful under circumstances." On the topic of what to do she asked, "I hope this does not come as offensive, but is there anything you can do when we do clash against an opponent?"

“Other than slashing? Not if we don’t resonate I don’t think. But you don’t have to be afraid to go all out, I’ll keep your fatigue at bay with my healing wavelength.”
Milo scanned the battlefield. Things were starting to heat up on the ground level, but the teams seemed even. Then he shifted his gaze upward. A bolt of energy passed them overhead towards their flagbearer, and confirmed his suspicion that Kyleigha and Kasper were ranged. Immediately afterwards he saw them dive into combat with what looked like two twins that must’ve been on their team. Behind him he sensed that Arma had gotten a renewal in energy and once again assaulted their flagbearer, but they didn’t seem to be in as much immediate danger. “Ignore the flag, those kids need our help!” Alice was already countering Arma, let them go on.

"It's about time." Valentina murmured before twirling the sword's blade under her arm. "We are the only ones capable of making it through while everyone is busy. Ready?" She wasted no time sprinting forward kicking up dirt as her eyes set on the red team's flag. She had to move quickly before being noticed under their noses. “Always.” Milo replied, before offering her a boost with his healing wavelength. It came as a surprise to feel light as a feather. It's a perfect ability for the occasion.

Up ahead stood the flag-bearer and Elyn with the cute cat girl. It was hard having to fight off against them when it was an adorable match. The soul belonging to the shield is damn near Milo's. Now isn't the time to hesitate nor look back. It all settled in this one chance where she snuck from behind the defense using the walls as an extra push to land behind Carlin. A kind expression now plastered on her face. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I'm one of your teammates, want to play offense while I hold the flag?"

Milo was taken aback. “Wha- wait what? Oh. OH. Ingenius!”

Bill and Erik's Excellent Adventure

An encounter with Marcus Rung and Silver Star
[ The Elder The Elder & Katoua777 Katoua777 ]
Collaboration between meself and Phayne Phayne

"Yes! Let us venture forth into the world of food, to visit every buffet and experience their tasteful pleasures! Let's leave no food untasted, no food wasted, and no food unloved! Let us feast! Hoorah!! Banzai! Yippie Ka-yay!!! Hip hip Hooray!!!"

Erik shifted out to a more attentive yet casual stance as he examined the man that possessed the beacon of green that shone out into his own tempest soul.

“Name’s Erik. In all honesty I can’t say I’m much for talk, but I’ll shoot ye straight: I can tell you’re an honest man with simple tastes, same as I. And though I suppose it’s always reaffirming to talk about this an’ that of loyalty and friendship, I’d rather have me actions speak for me. But jus’ know from here-on out, we’re sailin’ these seas together, aye?”

"Simple tastes?" Bill tilted his head slightly in confusion, unsure about what Erik had meant in regards to that. There was no way on earth that his tastes were simple, no way at all. If anything he had one of the most advanced tastes ever, his gluttonous soul made sure of that. There was no food in existence that could make his tastes recoil. "My tastes are not simple," replied Bill, taking both hands off of Erik's shoulder and placing them by his side, his left hand wrestling for a treat buried deep down in the recesses of his pocket. "I like chicken... beef... lamb... pork... bacon... can't forget bacon..." began Bill, drool gradually beginning to form along the edges of his widening mouth, right hand rising upwards as his finger pressed against his bottom lip, the boy in deep thought about which foods to list to Erik. "...Rabbit, duck.. Oh! Venison. I love Venison. I didn't think I would like it... but I do. Have you tried it? You really should? V-E-N-ISON '' he continued, patting his belly with his left hand. It seemed like he had already eaten the treat he had thought to be buried inside his pocket and was half-heartedly feeling his own gut to see if he could magically find it. "And thats just meat. I like vegetables too..." he continued, despite the instructors beginning to split the teams into two groups.

Bill's thoughts were interrupted now as he heard names being listed out; the class being split into two groups, though it appeared the blue team had two extra people, not that Bill really cared. Capture the flag wasn't really appealing to him and he didn't really possess the competitive spirit that was clearly emanating off of several people here. In all honesty, he'd have preferred to have just sat on the sidelines and watch; though by watch he did hope to have a nice snack to enjoy the show with. Alas, he was here to be partnered with a meister and out of everyone here, Bill's soul seemed to pulsate outside of its own gluttonous rhythm the moment Erik had approached him. While Marcus had been a nice guy and someone whom Bill had befriended, there just wasn't any hint of them being compatible with one another. Erik on the other hand had had that effect, like a burp waiting to come out. Bill knew that he was the one who could wield him.

But jus’ know from here-on out, we’re sailin’ these seas together, aye?

"Aye Aye Capi-tan!" replied Bill, playing along with Erik's sailor theme. "Let's sail the seas and conquer all the yum-yums together!" Bill raised his right hand to his forehead and gave the salute, a soft burp escaping his mouth as he tried to squeeze in his gut and look somewhat sailor-like. Seconds after his salute, Bill disappeared into a flash of bright green smoke; the faint scent of roast pork lingering in the spot that he had just been standing on. From above Erik, a large Anchor like weapon could be seen falling, ready to be caught by its new meister.

A large hand flew through the air to claim the weapon by the shaft, and Erik’s grin grew all the more wider. It was all too appropriate, and Erik saw this. The right choices were made. He hauled Bill’s anchor over his shoulder, clasping the weapon by where the chain connected.

“Our red team will have those that remain,” called out one of the supervisors of the exercise. “Kyleigha, Kathrine, Erik, Viola and Arma, you’re with me. Bring your weapon partners with you.”

Introductions were made. Orders were given. Erik took a quick second to assess who he was with, and who he was against. Kyleigha was certainly something he was interested in. The obvious bad start to their relationship seemed like it might rock the boat, but who knew? Kat was quite a welcome surprise. He had wondered if his hopes had jinxed that chance, but he was quite glad they were on the same team. Arma, the ludicrously energetic fellow seemed nice and sincere enough. Though he admittedly never had much energy to handle them, such people were fine by Erik as long as things never got overboard. Viola… that one seemed a bit more on the fence. Admittedly, he couldn’t say he ever made much of an assessment of her. Admittedly, he wasn’t too fond of those who still threw temper tantrums in their maturity, but he had paid so little attention to her that it would be out of character for him to judge her on that alone. Besides, two people had made arguably even worse impressions. One of those two made it clear they were one of the types of people Erik hated most. He was admittedly glad the cowardly leech was on the opposing team. Poor Cadence.

From within his Soul space, Bill watched as the groups took shape; the unceremonious loud mouth responsible for wasting his crisp had unfortunately been assigned to the same team as they had; his weapon form considerably much smaller than all those that had currently been revealed thus far. What was worse was that Marcus and his new partner had been placed on the other team, a fact that had not sat well with Bill at all considering the way they had hit it off earlier. The boy was kind enough to sacrifice two icy treats to him today. It would be too much for Bill to expect him to sacrifice himself in this fight, not that winning or losing really mattered to Bill.

That being said, it would have been a nice memory to have with Erik; knowing that their first time working together had ended successfully, a memory that they could relish over a nice celebratory dinner. Bill paused momentarily, gulping as he continued to loom within his soul space; an ethereal light bulb flickering on above his head, his expression going from glee to horror within seconds. There would be no celebratory dinner if they lost.

Bill’s Soul began to fluctuate as he dwelled on the idea of missing out on their victory dinner, a low rumble reverberating through his soul space, gradually increasing in intensity the longer he thought about it. It wasn’t long until his attention was drawn towards Marcus the the meister quickly approaching them with a katana held in his hand.

“Erik!” Bill called out, worry in his voice “Wh... what should we do..?!?!” he panicked, eyes still scanning around as the others began to take action all around them. There had barely been a team meeting among them before a few others had dashed out towards the bleachers; A bow and ring in the hands of their respective meisters as they each took to one side of the bleachers “I... I don’t want to miss out on our victory dinner... even..if... even if it means... hurting Marcus...” he stuttered, watching as scuffles ensued all around them, the golden streaked lad getting too up close and personal with the split haired girl. This was combat, actual combat and Bill simply did not know how to respond. Bill was never much of a fighter, rather he was the punching bag for those that seemed to enjoy fighting, his body building up quite the tolerance towards pain. Yet, now with a meister like Erik, perhaps he didn’t need to be concerned about his lack of fighting prowess. Erik definitely looked the more physically intimidating out of everyone else here, surely he could fight proper.

The sound of metal clashing tore his gaze down towards the three smaller members of their team, one of the boys missing as the Cat hoodie girl held onto a shield, a Sai coming to a stop next to them.

“If it comes down to it, I’ll take the lad out as gently as I can. If all goes well, he’ll have nothin’ but a bruise on his chin at most.”

It seemed rather sudden when Kyleigha took charge, but he was well willing to cooperate. If nothing else, Erik could always go with the flow, and bend the situation to his advantage using naught but his pure strength. He wondered how many people realized exactly how overwhelming such strength could be.

“Muscles! Think you could go on offense? I’ve got you covered with fire from the bleachers.”

“Aye, cap’n!”

The day thus far had thought it could merely take away his strength. But nothing could pry that away from Erik. What rocks halted the current, crumbled from the sheer force of the tidal waves. The only thing that could stand it was the lighthouse in the eye of the storm, and the newly arrived ship with it’s heavy anchor. Anything else would only be lost to the raging seas.

The heft of such weight only provided Erik with more sure foot-steps. Agility was irrelevant as he began to charge like a freight train towards the Blue side of the arena. Ah. Here was something. It was just his luck that the one closing in to face him was the one Bill spoke of earlier. His partner didn’t have to say who it was. Erik could feel it enough, deep inside where both he and Bill were.

A clash of immense lightning struck about within the tempest of his soul as Erik’s feet started digging into the solid ground as if it were merely mud. Bill was fond of this lad. As such, he’d do what he could to make sure Bill didn’t get too involved in the process. With each moment forward, Erik gained velocity. With each moment forward, his heft borrowed slightly deeper into the ground. And then, like a bullet, he jumped with force, leaving a multitude of soft cracks and a wide but very slight dent in the ground where he took flight. And just as sudden, Erik smashed into the ground not too far in front of Marcus with so much intense force, the air and ground around him burst into a tsunami of sheer, explosive power, as if a heavy artillery strike had landed, and a burst of dust and dirt came along with it all.

“I know what you’re thinkin’,” Called out Erik’s voice just before the dirt cloud cleared. “All muscles. No finesse, no precision, no grace or technique. And you’d be right!”

Erik plunged his fist into the floor below and broke out a boulder, as if scoping out a clump of snow on a winter-day. Erik grinned as he repeatedly tossed the large rock up and caught it with his hand, as if he were warming up for a round of baseball.

“But even the most graceful swordsman can’t win against a bolt of lightning, lads.”

The tides within the stormy soul of Erik churned more intensely, as the hurricane within him raged on even harder with the rush and thrill of battle.

Quinn Aquila And Cadence Harper
Male | Seventeen | Meister | Sanguine Soul | Aquila | Interacting w/ Meredith Meredith

Quinn rested with his head against his hands, that were in turn laying on the rails. You’d think it’d be more exciting, having a target on your back. After Alice threw Arma to the ground, the rest of the students broke into a comic book-esque cloud of fighting down at the center of the arena, hardly either side going for the flags. Quinn was just about to yawn and stretch when a flash of light approached him like a bullet and made him whip his gaze forward.

Quinn, look alive, projectiles- Cadence started, but she was halted, sure he’d already seen them. She only had to hope he’d have the good sense to move out of the way. Haha, yeah, watch this. Then his face broke out in a smile. “You missed!” He shouted out, only getting the strange sensation that he missed something when it passed right by his face. I thought you were going to get impaled. she thought at him, tone dry, more unenthused than bored.

No, but- He heard the glass splinter behind him, and didn’t have to turn around to realize what the effect was. With a quick shift from his shoulders and throwing his head forward, he sent his hood over his head and his jacket covering the flag on his arm as the razor rain spilled down over him as he leaned over the railing. Most of the shrapnel flew outside and most of the smaller parts simply bounced off of his jacket, but he felt three sharp stings as the window collapsed. His demeanour shifted to sour. Fucker.

The glass still rained through the air as two additional streaks of light headed right for him, and with trained reflexes his arms crossed over his nose and he felt the dull thuds and burns as the wavelengths burnt into his hands and was sucked into his parasitic wavelength. That didn’t feel like a sharp pain… not like it should.

Quinn, if you want to wield a weapon, might I suggest not being so insistent on messing up your hands?? Quinn sighed and held his left hand up and witnessed as the bandages he so carefully wrapped slipped off of his hand thanks to the large hole burnt in them at the center of his palm. It’s not all intentional, y’know. He complained, while he pulled out three half-inch-long glass shards from his left forearm and bicep with his right hand which was also slowly being revealed. He blunted his wavelength? Pussy. His eyes were like red slits in the darkness beneath his hood. It’s like they were asking him to react. The only trick up his sleeve was a serious non-concern for physical injuries.

He'd already have attacked again, if not Alice had gone first and slammed Arma into the ground first. He took the momentary leave to flex his fingers and get some new blood in them. If he kept cutting them to ribbons and letting them take all the punishment then he'd be unable to use them. Alice and Arma kept up fighting with their unnamed weapons, but it soon devolved into a fist fight that seemed to go Arma's way as something happened to Alice's weapon. That's my que.

He pushed off from the railing with his hands, leaving red prints on it, and launched himself into the arena. His hood blew back and he threw up his arms, aiming for the ceiling. Launch! He commanded. His wavelength was filling him with energy, and his soul became much more sharp and focused. As soon as he felt Cadence’s tethers connected with the ceiling he ordered Taut! and used his own strength to pull down on the knuckles and increase his momentum. Retract! He finally ordered as he came to soar across the hall, overhead Arma's exposed back.

Time seemed to slow. The little spears returned to his knuckles with the sound of a tape measure folding. His forearms and hands were revealed, riddled with scars and cuts, and the few drops of blood that hadn’t soaked his sleeves glittered in the air behind him. He aimed his knuckles at Arma, and growled “If you’re gonna hit the king, you better kill the king, haha!” before giving another mental command to launch. Cadence complied, a bit taken aback, The King? echoing through her mind. It’s a saying. I’m not sure you should be asking for a shot in the head!

Time picked up again. Lengths of barbed wire barreled down towards Arma’s body in spirals, threatening to pierce him and anchor them together. Thanks for the boost, asshole.

Oh god we’re going to kill someone; it’s the first day, Quinn, what if we get kicked out?

Nah, he'll be fine. Ish.

Once Alice had finished putting her weapon’s bow into her hair, she suddenly heard a gunshot which made the Meister shoot up and look over the half-wall. Her emerald eyes coming up on shattering glass that began to shower over the gym, as well as over their teammates. On top of it all, Arma was already recovered and aiming his weapon at Quinn. “Not this time, buddy!” she shouted before breaking off into a sprint to close the gap more between herself and her flag bearer. With her determination to protect the objective, all of her emotions were strong. This was a warning that Koira had given her when using this form. But hopefully it was used as something to help with the idea that popped into the blonde’s head. Once the distance had been closed enough, she threw her hand out as fire began to surround Quinn before suddenly disappearing into thin air due to his actions. He started to move with such speed and then suddenly aimed down for Arma, tethers being shot down toward him. Taking a quick look around, she noticed Valentina on the enemy team. How the hell did she get there so fast? Either way, she was closer to the flag than anyone else. So she trusted her. Though what she didn't like is that Arma didn't give up on trying to shoot her teammate just moments ago before being attacked. He recovered so fast in so little time after being thrown off a ledge that would have anyone stunned.

The rest of her team was taking care of the others. The muscle men of the enemy team were already causing a mess with the ground...Anyway, the only real problems were the ranged Meisters. Though they were easy to handle, especially when one was not that far below her. With swift movements, she hopped over the half wall and jumped down, landing on her feet with a loud thud while bending her knees to prevent breaking of said-knees. Cracking her knuckles, she knew this was her turn as she broke into a sprint towards Arma. Her next course of action could consist of many ways… How bad did she want to beat the poor guy up? Without another thought running through her head, she jumped onto his back, legs wrapping around his sides while her hands covered up his eyes and gave her time to throw her body back, pulling Arma down with her to the ground. This guy won't get a break till he backs off my flag bearer Alice thought to herself.

Arma was having the time of his life with this Capture the Flag exercise, especially with all of the cool abilities that he was seeing it was hard to keep the usual lid he had over his excitefulness. Especially with that SUPER cool move that the scythe and her meister did to get onto higher ground. Still, his focus was on nabbing the flag, and seemed like just because he was gunning for it with his partner there was NO safe place where the two would try n’ hunt him down again. Just when he had backed up a bit more towards his team, there was a quick flash of speed as that another girl on the enemy team seemed to exhibit going towards his own flag, but before he could even turn around he felt a weight on his back and his vision going black. Oh this is how its gonna be huh? Feeling himself being yanked backward, a grin began to appear on his face. Rather than resisting the attempt by this blondie to bring him down with her, he invited it. Just when she would try and yank him again, he would jump backward, putting the full force of his weight on her while they fell. You want me to fall? Alrighty then!

Alice totally didn't think this through as Arma jumped and fell backwards. This was gonna knock the wind out of her no doubt. Sure enough it did, as the wind escaped her lungs and she tried to use her body to flip him instead. Though his resistance was tough, trying to keep her pinned underneath him. But with enough strength and a battle cry, she used her body to flip him off to the side, getting onto his back in the process. “You may have knocked the wind out of me, but I’m not going down without a fight.” she said, quickly getting off of him and backing off “I want a fair fight. Get on your feet.” A grin formed on her lips as she did her best to keep track of whoever was in her vision, listening out for anyone who could potentially attack her from any angle.

There was definitely some satisfaction in the way that his plan succeeded, but that didn’t last very long with him feeling the wind being blown out of her stomach. Suddenly though, he was hefted onto his stomach with the girl holding him down from his back. Before he could even attempt to get up, the weight had been lifted off of his stomach and a challenge was issued. Mano a mano. Pushing himself upward from his hand, his body would lift just enough so that he could get back onto his feet. Swiftly facing his opponent with sharpened eyes and placing Sebastian on his side, he would take off his jacket and wrap it around his waist, revealing his pretty scrawny form. “I’m not sure if I can give ya a good fight blondie, but go for it! Would be boring otherwise!” Seeming to float on his feet as he bounced up and down, the loudmouth beckoned for the girl to fight.

Alice found his form amusing, he was bouncing around as if this was kickboxing. Boy was he wrong on so many levels. This was a fight of strength, a fight to knock the other out of the park and save her team. It wasn't a death match, but he was in her team’s way and he was someone who needed to be eliminated. “You seem to have a pretty good idea on how you want to go about this.” she then clenched her fists and dashed toward him, readying her hand for a right hook to his face. As long as it wasn't a life threatening attack, it was fine.

It seemed like this girl was all brute force, but from what he heard earlier she definitely had a head on her shoulders, so maybe she was something of an adrenaline junkie too. Despite the blonde rushing straight for him, all Arma would do was continue to bounce on his feet as she came toward him, seeing the hook coming from a mile away. What's more fun? Dance circles around her ‘till she gets frustrated? Nah.. it's funny but too easy. OH! I got it! In a battle of strength, he was definitely going to lose. Hands down. No ifs, ands, or buts would change that outcome. But doin’ something a lil’ risky was FUN! Rather than back away, he moved toward the girl as she attempted to strike at him, dropping down to the floor and going for a leg sweep and hoping to follow it up with a sharp kick to her hip.

Watching him suddenly vanish from her vision only made her smirk as she jumped to avoid his leg sweep and turn her body to use the calf of her leg to whack him in the face for being so low. “Wrong move buddy.” she said, knocking him over and backing up to keep him from pulling some sneaky moves.

Arma was never much of a fighter in the first place, and the only scraps he had gotten into were those where his small size and lack of strength were used against him. The pain? Used to it. The shit talk? Used to it. Feeling the sharp pain against his nose, the shorty would roll backward before getting back onto his feet once again, still grinning. “Told you. Not much of a fighter. But why do you keep backing away? You scared of me or something? Can’t be.”

“Me? Scared of you? Oh come on! I just know where my limits are. For all I know you could pull something straight out of a movie!” she giggled “I always predict my opponent’s moves. Or at least I try to be as accurate as possible.” she tilted her head left and right, an audible crack being heard.

“Ah. Gotcha gotcha!” Planting his feet into the ground, the loudmouth rushed forward and hopped off the ground slightly. He threw his beanie up into the air before feigning a back kick and instead aiming directly for the blonde’s kneecap.

Alice knew she couldn't do a backflip out of this situation because she would just hit the force of his incoming kick. It was going directly for her knee. With quick thinking, she spun her body, moving it just inches out of the way and feeling the wind of his kick graze by her legs before she took her hand and slammed it into his chest and shoved him back.

Not content with being pushed aside so consistently, Arma continued to press the blondie, raring to get a good hit in at least once. That was the goal at this point. No flag, no teams. His single mindedness was now focused on landing a hit on Alice. Moving forward once again, the meister would shift into a boxing stance, throwing out two quick left jabs before swapping to a lefty stance and throwing two right jabs.

This is what she wanted. A fight that was well deserving and beneficial for the winner in this moment. He was throwing punches and she was blocking them with her forearms, taking the blunt damage before she pulled her head back and slammed it right into his own, headbutting him before throwing an uppercut punch right into his jaw.

It didn’t seem like anything was really working against her, and that was making this a bit boring! Gotta spice it up! The headbutt was definitely a good attempt, but Arma’s skull was reinforced by Torrez blockhead technology! Luckily for the blonde though, his jaw wasn’t as the uppercut seemed to scrape his jaw as he tried to dodge, throwing himself onto the floor to avoid the hefty blow before launching a kick straight toward her stomach.

Alice didn't expect the sudden comeback he had, his foot slamming right into her stomach and sending her flying backwards and onto the floor. She gritted her teeth and slowly started to get back to her feet “That was a good shot. I will admit.” the blonde moved toward him, wondering why her weapon had gone quiet..it’s been way too long… ‘Koira are you alright? You’re very quiet…’ she asked, worried before breaking into a sprint toward Arma, ready to go full out against him. No holding back now. Though she did keep her mind open to Koira.

Surprised that his attack did indeed land, the shorty’s face lit up with excitement as his single minded drive was now fulfilled! They couldn’t keep this up forever, and the more that they fought the more likely it was that the blonde would knock him out cold! He couldn’t let his teammates down like that, so there was one thing he had to do: survive. Bouncing up and down once again on his feet, he was ready for an IMPACT!

Alice went right for him, her punch going for a lower jab, more for the gut area. She had to keep level headed, if she got too into this, she would lose all focus on everything else around her “Name’s Alice.” she introduced herself. Still awaiting her Weapon’s reply.

Dodging to the left, Arma’s eyes would widen slightly as he seemed to let his unbounded energy loose a little in his mind: “Name’s Arma! Ya probably heard me yell it! It’ll be a pleasure to lose to ya!” The meister followed up his statement with his own right hook to her side, aiming to follow up with a straight left toward her face.

Alice was about to block, but a sudden shriek rang out in her head -allowing her to become distracted-, causing Arma’s fist to connect with her side, as well as her face. She went stumbling off to the side and closed her eyes tightly, her hands covering her ears. Koira was in trouble but there was nothing that the Meister could do. She suddenly felt their bond disconnect and her eyes snapped open and widened. The ribbon that her weapon was, was no longer there, but in fact she was in human form behind her. Laying on the floor in fear. Alice looked behind her to see her partner in such a state, Oh no...my madness… Did it...Do what I think it did? The blonde thought to herself, her heart racing in fear that she may have terrified her partner. Though the words that escaped her partner’s lips had falsely confirmed her fear. Causing her to feel like this was all her fault. She knew she wasn't compatible with anyone and it would have been a matter of time before it hurt someone else. Though right now she had to protect her weapon from the chaos that was in the room.

That’s when Cadence’s tether-spears, followed by a long length of barbed wire arced its way towards Arma’s back; one for each of his shoulder blades, one for each of his triceps, one for each side of his lower back and two aimed at the back of each thigh, with Quinn in short pursuit.

Arma was surprised that his fist connected, going to follow-up before he had seen Alice cover her ears. What’s up with her? Before he could worry about that though, he could hear a voice yell from behind him: If you’re gonna hit the king, you better kill the king, haha! Immediately whipping his head around and seeing barbed wires fly at him, he tried to move out of the way, utilizing his speed to try and side-step the wires. However, he wasn’t fast enough! SLOTCH! One immediately dug into his shoulder with another digging into his thigh. It’s not over yet huh? Wouldn’t be fun otherwise!

Two hits. Nice, just the ones I needed. Taut!
The missed tethers retracted back into the fist, with the two in Arma pulling Quinn in a straight line towards him at break-neck speed. Pulling against the force tugging him along through the knuckles, he aligned himself with his side towards the floor and both his knees outstretched, aiming for Arma’s lower back. Quinn, are you actually going to break his spine? The worried voice of Cadence resounded in his head. Oh, right. Quinn replied. Just before he connected he violently tugged back, ripping the bloodied tethers out and shifting so his shins would hit instead; one at his lower back and one at his upper back to even out the force. And once they would connect, he’d use his momentum to push all he could, attempting to send Arma flying into the arena wall.

Feeling the sudden barbed spears being ripped out, Arma’s eyes widen at the sudden pain, doing his best to keep himself calm despite what he had felt. Seeing that Quinn was shooting toward him with some incredible speed, the meister spun around the attempted blow, trying to reduce the beating that he knew was incoming. I swear these people are never gonna make me bored! Even though he had dodged the incoming blow, he could feel a terrible lash at his back, cutting into his undershirt leaving behind a messy gash. Quinn had spun around after his missed attack and lashed out with one of the remaining barbed wires before landing and sliding to a halt a few dozen yards away. With a grin, Arma finally gripped Sebastian once again, a wide grin on his face. “Let’s dance! Mi amigo!”

Koira Farech

Koira felt her own heart skip a beat when Alice’s fingers tightly grasped her ribbon form. She should’ve known it would be too soon to revisit this form but for her meister she didn’t want to be a failure or defective weapon. It felt like someone had slammed their fists straight into her chest as the memories surfaced at full blast. The arena had faded away, the walls melting like candle wax to reveal a wallpaper that she distinctively remembered from her childhood. Why am I back here? Her eyes were no longer serenely closed, they were wide as those fear filled pupils seemed to shake, images appearing before them like reflections on a mirror that stared back at her. As much as she wanted to look away, look anywhere else, the scene playing out was one that had every fiber of her being forcibly pulled in. Goosebumps started to spread, her soul's confidence and courage plummeting rapidly, the sound of a door creaking open filling her ‘safe’ space. It echoed about and she took a few steps back, panic flashing across her features.

That feeling grew inside her, so gradually, from her stomach up to her throat like acid re-flux as the monster that plagued her dreams stepped into view. All of its features were dimly lit under a faint glow that somehow only emphasized its bizarre inhuman features. The monster from back then, the one that murdered her parents. All the while the weapon was having an insanely hard time discerning reality from what was just going on in her head. She staggered backwards, hoping to find a wall to brace herself against but was met instead with emptiness that went on perpetually. Her gaze falteringly rose to meet the creature’s eyes and she could feel every single ill intent that harbored itself there deep within her own soul. Her lithe frame twisted and turned, desperate for an escape from the nightmare of a memory that was clutching onto her sanity like a toy it wanted to play with.

Koira… “ It spoke now, hushed at first with a hint of sensuality, as it crossed the room towards her. I’m frozen… This isn’t real, you’re okay, you’re okay. She started repeating the last few words, hands shakily rising towards her head as her fingers began to slip between the strands and tug on them in an attempt to anchor herself.

Koira, Koira, oh Koira. “ She heard her name fall from the creature's sinister mouth, watched it creep closer, eyes unable to close. Every part of her was screaming internally, lips only managing to let a small whimper push past them as she felt its hot breath wash over her porcelain skin. Scrawny fingers began to grasp her face, squeezing with a grip that seemed unfitting of them with how lanky they were. She winced slightly and tried to turn away as she felt them tighten and turn her face back towards it, a sense of dominance over her terror filled brain making it easy for the monster to be in control. There was nothing gentle about the interaction, it felt like he was trying to get her to submit. The simple question that she'd always wondered; what did it want her to submit to?

Koira, are you alright? You’re really quiet… “ Alice’s voice became distorted, malevolent even, and the words seemed to come from the monster in front of her, its face twisting into one that was taking the utmost pleasure in pushing her over the edge. Her sudden ear shrieking screams filled both of their minds, their bond starting to fracture itself and become unstable. She felt herself get heavy, she felt Alice’s emotions crash down on her, she felt their connection snap and she was slowly shifting back to human form amidst the middle of a full blown panic attack. She appeared on the ground, eyes bearing into the floor beneath her as her nails raked along it before curling into her palms. “ Get away from me. “ She spat out between labored breaths, chest tightening as her coldfire danced around her body protectively, her movements stilled for the time being. “ I-I can’t breathe… “ The stupid game didn’t matter anymore, she just wanted to disappear, she wanted the increasingly loud cacophony of everything going on around them to just cease to exist. Make it stop… She silently begged, as her blue eye started to glow dimly, her soul ability threatening to activate.

Brennan had just gotten Niamh to calm down from her tantrum when someone else stepped up to talk to them. "My name is Kane Doyle. If you are willing to work with me in this exercise, it would be my honor."

Niamh cast this newcomer a glare, clearly not over the incident from before. She folded her arms and looked away. Brennan sighed, embarrassed and a bit annoyed. “Don’t mind her. I’m Brennan Gallagher, and this is my sister, Niamh. If you think you’re up for the challenge, then we can work with you. We can be a bit of a handful, though, just fair warning.”

Finally returning his gaze to the two siblings, Kane leveled neutral look at Niamh in return for her glare, then turned his focus to Brennan. “I appreciate the concern, however I do believe I am up to the task. As long as you two are able to cooperate with me I don’t foresee any problems on my end.”

“Cac asail ort,” (Donkey shit be upon you) mumbled Niamh under her breath. A quick laugh escaped Brennan’s mouth before he straightened up and tried to conceal it as a cough.

“She said ‘hello’,” lied Brennan in an attempt to lessen the damage.

Kane’s face didn’t even twitch at that, but a hint of displeasure crept it’s way into his eyes. In a tone as bland and deadpan as the expression on his face he responded with, “Tá tú greannmhar. Are we working together or not?”(You’re hilarious)

“Ah pleóid air,” (Ah feck it.) mumbled Niamh.

Brennan threw his hands up, “Yeah, it seems she hates everyone, today. Not just people who don’t speak Irish. I swear she’s not always like this. And to answer your question, yes, we’re working together.”

Nodding in acceptance, Kane turned to face the rest of the gym, absently noting that the game of capture the flag had begun and that the flag bearer for their team, Quinn he believed his name was, had dragged himself up to a window using his partner as the means to do so. Unbuttoning the cuffs of his shirt and beginning to roll up his sleeves, Kane once more spoke to the siblings. “What are your weapon forms?”

“Yeah… um… about that,” started Brennan. However, before he could say anything else, Niamh interrupted with, “Oh, what are our weapon forms? You wanna keep talking? You two really are boring. Catch!” With that, Niamh hopped toward Kane and transformed in the air, turning into a large spinning gallowglass sword heading straight for the guy who had offered to be their partner.

Turning back to the siblings at the sound of “catch” just after witnessing Marcus rush the opposing team, Kane’s eyes widened ever so slightly at the oncoming Niamh-turned-sword, though that didn’t stop him from deftly catching her out of the air in his right hand, pausing for only a moment to begin syncing his wavelength with her while giving a one-handed practice swing. Kane then, looking over at Brennan, absently motioned for him to do the same as his sister. For all her perceived faults, he was of the same mind that actions spoke louder in the first place.

Brennan was just thankful that Kane seemed to have the ability to handle his sister so far. On the up side, she certainly was testing his abilities, which would probably result in them partnering with a superior meister. Without wasting any more time, Brennan reached out and grabbed onto Kane’s forearm, something that would seem quite awkward until Brennan transformed into the forearm mounted roundshield that he was.

Taking another moment to now sync his wavelength with Brennan’s as well as get used the newfound weight on his arm, Kane gave what could only be considered as a hum of approval. Looking back to the battlefield to get a grasp on the current state of affairs, Kane found that the energetic lad on the enemy team was being taken care of, a member of their team was in the enemy backline, and that the twins on their team were about to be under fire. With a mental picture of the battlefield in mind, Kane got into a pseudo-runner’s position and thought to the siblings, “We’re going after the enemy’s gunner. Keep your eyes open.”

On the side of the gallowglass sword, an eyelid suddenly appeared and Niamh opened her eye, “Sure, I’ll just keep my eyes open. I’ll barf on your nice suit from the vertigo I get from you swinging me around after.”

“Game time, Niamh, let’s just focus,” countered Brennan, trying to cut off some of his sister’s sass.

Resisting the urge to roll his eyes Kane instead shot forward, finally prepared to enter the fight himself. Darting forward in the direction of Kyleigha, Kane noticed from the corner of his vision that things were starting to really heat up, what with the large muscular fellow on the opposing team ripping out a hunk of rock. Nevertheless, Kane had a job to do, and that job happened to be cutting down the ranged menace of the other team. With that driving motivation in mind, Kane sped up, attempting to close in on Kyleigha with the clear intention of striking her with an upwards diagonal swing, however awkward it may look with him aiming with the flat of the blade instead of the edge.

Niamh closed her eye as Kane started to charge. As they closed in in Kyleigha, she got excited and wanted to yell some more Irish stuff at her, but held her tongue in the hopes of utilizing the factor of surprise to the best of her ability.

From within the soul room, Kasper could see the blood beginning to seep from Kye’s arm, an exposed wound the price that they paid for intercepting Audriella when her guard was seemingly down. It had been a surprise to Kasper at least that she was also a Demon Weapon like her sister; the two Bond Meisters were able to adapt and be more flexible in the way they fought and it was that flexibility that had allowed them to wound Kye; an audacious move that Kasper wouldn’t soon forget. He had every intention of extracting interest from the twin demon Sai’s, their reward of blood would be dealt with severely.

Now distancing themselves to a more comfortable ranged position, Kasper glanced once more towards Kye’s injury, clicking his tongue as he noticed the trickles begin to stain her clothing. “Does it hu.. Fuck! Kye watch out!” shouted Kasper, his soul spiking as he noticed the approaching trio from behind. They hadn’t been given a moment of time to recover as Kane began his charge; a large blade in hand and a roundshield clasped around his forearm. Having taken advantage of Kye and Kasper’s fight, Kane had seemingly managed to close quite the distance, his hand clasping the sword as if ready to perform an upward swing.

“Huh?” Kyleigha’s attention was suddenly torn off of her targets and the rain of bullets ceased as her body started turning to see exactly what was coming at her from behind. Unfortunately, she didn’t turn quite fast enough and the flat of the blade Kane was wielding wound up slapping Kye very firmly in the arm, sending her tumbling back in the direction of Audriella and Lilibell. The pain of it was definitely more distracting than the nick to her arm from the previous hit she’d taken, but her sense of alertness perked up even more and she quickly got herself to her feet.

“That would’ve been death had he not used the flat of the blade. Crap, how did I get so stupid!? Kyleigha shook her arm out at her side, realizing with some gratitude that it wasn’t her dominant arm and that she could manage to get some feeling back in it rather quickly.

“For fucks sake! That cocky little shit” cursed Kasper as Kye took the brunt of Kane’s swing, his slow reactions causing his new Meister to get hurt in the process. Twice now she had gotten hurt, twice now his slow reactions had been costly. Perhaps it was rust from having not been held for so long, but Kasper knew for a fact that they were capable of dodging that swing had he noticed it sooner. “Kye..” began Kasper, a faint hint of a growl prevalent in the undertone of his voice; his Soul again spiking ever so slightly under the influence of his emotions. “I know what you said earlier… about staying in this form..” he continued, a clear frustration emanating off of him “But.. these people… they are getting too full of themselves now Kasper was treading the fine line between shouting and not shouting ”I can’t help but feel like they need to be put into their place” Kasper’s ring began to shimmer as if containing his emotions, just barely. “They need to be shown who's superior”

Needing to know that nothing would be coming at her from behind, at least for a little while, Kye crouched low and sent herself springing into the air backwards so that she landed on the level just above the field of play. It gave her a better vantage point and there was a wall at her back so she knew no attacks were coming from that direction. ‘No Kasper,’Kyleigha replied swiftly once she landed, her eyes surveying the field as she conversed with her partner. ‘I want to put them in their places just as much as you do, but I’m not going to give that death scythe a reason to confirm that I’m not on a higher level than the others. If they can get this far while pulling their punches, then we have to continue doing the same.’ She couldn’t deny that she was frustrated at all the hits that they’d taken and that she knew they could do better. It seemed everyone else was managing just fine, and they weren’t when they were supposed to be the best of them.

“Tsk” came the audible click of his tongue as Kye shut down Kasper’s desire to wreak vengeance upon those daring enough to strike at his partner, though perhaps it was for the best that she be the voice of reason in that regard. If the others were not fighting to the fullest of their abilities, then there was no reason for them to succumb to that temptation either. “Fine. I’ll restrain myself for now” he replied, exhaling deeply as he tried to control himself though there was still that lingering desire hidden in his voice. “So what’s our play?, Their team seems to be catered heavily towards close up fighters”

‘And they’ve dragged one of our ranged fighters into a hand to hand fight as well,’ Kye added, observing Arma as he fought Alice, though something weird happened she couldn’t quite piece together from a distance. She was glad, at the very least, that they’d managed to get the blue flag bearer off his pedestal although now he was attacking Arma. Now that Kye had left the ground level, she was certain that the twins and Kane would shift their attention to Arma as well which made it that much harder for their team to get the flag. ‘We have to get back down there or Arma’s gonna get crushed, but we need a way to get the flag, too.’

From their vantage point, Kasper could see that Arma was in quite the predicament, fighting several of the blue team's Meisters with only his partner Sebastian to back him up. However it seemed like it could have been worse had the pair of Quinn and Cadence still had Alice and Koira backing them up. For reason's that Kasper had not seen, it seemed like they had split up; Koira appearing a ways from Alice, clearly troubled. They'd have been ripe for the picking had other more pressing concerns not taken place.

Her mind was racing at a million miles a minute but her gaze briefly drifted to their own team’s flag, making sure that she hadn’t missed anything there. Carlin still held the flag, but there was someone unfamiliar over there now. ‘Who’s that?’ she inquired, not sure if Kasper would have any answer or not, in reference to Valentina. ‘Is she our sixth?’

“Sixth?” pondered Kasper, his eyes scanning the battlefield displayed below them as various individual fights continued to take place. Erik and Bill, squared off with Marcus and Silver; the clear difference in where their strengths seemed to lie was quite evident. Speed vs Power, a match up so equal that it would be hard to determine who had the advantage in their scuffle. It was looking past them that Kasper found Carlin standing, a white haired lass with a Katana in hand right next to him. It was a few seconds before the team list echoed in his mind; their sixth member being listed as Viola and Elgyn. It didn’t take him long to realize that that girl couldn’t have been Viola. Quickly glancing around the chaos below, he reaffirmed his suspicions as he found the hooded girl elsewhere in the gym, a large blade held in one hand.

“That’s not her!” came Kasper’s voice, Kye’s hand almost being dragged in the direction of where Valentina was as Kasper wanted to shoot at the looming threat. “That’s not Viola, I’m sure of it. That girl came with the rest of the latecomers and I could have sworn I heard Arma shouting her name outside. We need to get the shield and his Meister to intercept, they are the closest!"

Trusting her weapon’s certainty, Kyleigha wasted absolutely no time at all shooting a single bolt that would hit the ground rather fiercely between Carlin and Valentina, meant to grab the attention of the teammates she had in that area. “Cat!” Kyleigha called out loudly. “She’s not on our team!!! Protect the flag!” Kyleigha fired another shot aimed directly at Valentina, concussive force contained within its condensed soul shape.

Bellamira & Salem Ossana Interactions: None from Mira, Staff from Salem

Salem crouched over a machine just outside the gym’s doors, eyebrows knitting. The man was marginally certain, now, that this would work as intended. God knows he’d been working on it all night. He let out a soft, measured breath, and looked up to his sister - nodded. “I think we’re all good.”

Bellamira let out an impatient, forced breath. She stilled the tapping of her foot, hands slipping from their position on her opposite biceps. The woman rolled her shoulders, back cracking as she arched on her tiptoes. “Right. Let’s hope nobody’s died yet!” Salem offered a shake of his head, a tch echoing through the hall, a smile escaping as he watched her from his position on the floor. “You wouldn’t let that happen.”

As Mira returned to flat feet, she shrugged, pulling up her sleeves to her elbows. “Depends,” she supposed, raising a fist to her chin in mock contemplation, “how shitty are the kids?

A wink, and she took two short steps toward the gym door, kicking it open with a resounding bang. She squared her shoulders, propelled by momentum. The door been unlatched - thankfully - and Salem caught it with his hand as it swung back, moving forward the dry ice machine with his foot to prop it open, and pulling the bag he’d fastened off of the output. Smoke began to pour across the floor.
Perfect.

Mira was already moving. There was blood on the floor; cracked glass crunched under her sneakers, but she did not slip. Her eyes scanned over the mob as she passed the largest group of students - she did not interfere - but she curved around for a better look. Kid in the sweater’s hand needs fixing, the girl having some sort of anxiety attack needs a pick-me-up, and the one with the shitty dye job is getting it from all angles. Injury incoming. I can work with that.

The woman almost seemed to skate on her blood-covered shoes, pirouetting to redirect herself to the back wall, while she noted the other’s positions. There were scratches and certainly students going at each other, but that would be Salem’s problem; she highly doubted anybody would find themselves lethally injured over whatever was going on here. She moved as if competing in a roller derby.

Salem had started to follow towards the group of students surrounding Arma, eyes flashing with... what, panic? Mira put up a hand as she spun, jerking her head.
Don’t interfere unless someone goes down. He halted, turned on his heel, and made his way toward the group of teachers. Good man.

Mira’s fingers splayed, and the woman threw herself into the air backwards, flipping entirely before grabbing onto the lower balcony next to the opposite door. She didn’t stop there - kicking off the wall, she somersaulted through the air again, this time clearing the second balcony and thumping to her feet on the thin ledge. She slipped into a crouch - leaning onto the balcony with her right hand to keep herself stable - and, not unlike a watchful gargoyle, eyed the scene below. Her hair hung around her face, black eye makeup smudged down to her cheeks, and she breathed slowly. Their souls are strong, she mused, I was right.

The fog was really starting to set in. It hung around the bottom four-or-so feet of the room, coming in thick, but from this vantage point she could still see who was moving where. A challenge, she thought, from me to all of you. A smile revealed her sharp teeth.

Salem did not seem to share her enthusiasm.
"Capture the flag, huh? I'll tell you something," he remarked as he joined the other staff, gaze sweeping up the wall to the ledge where Mira sat, "If they don't finish before sweater boy passes out from blood loss I'll shred the flags myself. This isn't a difficult objective.” His voice was smooth. Cold, almost.

A Spectrum of Power! Erik & Bill vs. Marcus & Silver Star
Animerik.jpgbig bill.jpgmarcus rung.jpgsilver star.jpg
[ A collaboration between myself, Phayne Phayne , The Elder The Elder , & Katoua777 Katoua777 ]

The game had begun and Marcus was off, heading straight for the giant on the enemies' team. As he ran, he thought it’ll be best for him to know what exactly was going on around him.

“Silver, as I keep my eyes on Erik, point out everything you see,” he thought to his partner.

“Got it. Our flag holder is on the move. It seems they’re for the mezzanines. A smart tactic if I do say so myself. While they are high and away from most, no one would be able to reach them without being noticed...unless they have ranged weapons on their team,” Silver states. And as if Silver jinxed the two, Marcus noticed someone running along the bleachers with a bow in hand.

“Great, they have a shooter on their squad,” Marcus said to himself.

“There’s another on the other end of the bleachers. She seems to have a gun,” Silver adds.

“Great that makes two shooters we have to worry about.”

“Well, one... it seems that Alice girl is heading for the archer. I’ll keep an eye out for the girl with the gun. You focus on the big guy, he’s on the move.”

Marcus' eyes focused on Erik, as he rushed towards him holding a giant anchor. That had to be Bill, who knew he would turn into a giant anchor. It made complete and utter sense though to Marcus. With Erik gaining more and more speed as he charged, Marcus instantly regretted his decision. As fast as he was running, Erik leaps into the air before coming down slamming his giant anchor, causing a huge wave of dust, and debris. Marcus was lucky enough to have leapt back into the air using the sheer force from the attack to greater his distance. He came to a slide as he landed dragging his hand across the ground.

“Can’t believe you thought this was gonna be easy,” he says to Silver.

“Don’t worry Marcus, we got this,” Silver adds.

“I know what you’re thinkin’,”
Called out Erik’s voice just before the dirt cloud cleared. “All muscles. No finesse, no precision, no grace or technique. And you’d be right!”

As Marcus stood up, he watched as Erik jammed his hand into the ground.
“Great, now what is he doing...” He says before Erik pulls out a boulder tossing it into up a down. “The fact that he can do that without breaking a sweat is ridiculous.”

“But even the most graceful swordsman can’t win against a bolt of lightning, lads.”

“I guess this fool doesn’t know that when a graceful swordsman is compared with an excellent blade, not even a bolt of lightning can stop em. Let’s cut this little bolt in half, and show em the stars!” Silver says, giving Marcus a boost in confidence.

“So Erik, what do you plan on doing with that little pebble of yours. Are you just gonna hold it, or are you gonna throw it,” Marcus asks with a smirk as he gets into a guarding stance.
-
The large man chuckled heartily for a moment before he inhaled, and briefly closed his eyes.

“Well, my friend here,” he began, nodding to Bill in his anchor form. “Had some reservations about getting aggressive with ye. So, in respect to that, I thought I ought to pull out something softer than my fist. Mind ye, I’m still here to put ye to rest for the moment being, but it’d be better on yer bones for me to use this.”

Bill smiled from within his space, the gentle giant’s Soul emanating a warm radiance as he overheard Erik’s reply, Bill’s grin ear to ear as his Meister appreciated his own concerns. The last thing Bill wanted was a Meister who ignored his own input, someone who just saw him as a tool rather than a partner. Alas, Erik was clearly not that kind of person.

“Th... thank you Erik” spoke Bill, his voice gargling through their connection.

Erik gripped the large rock with his fingertips, crunching shallow holes into it. Slowly but surely, Erik began trudging towards his momentary foe. The pace was as deliberate as a pace could be, and the slow cracking sound from beneath him gave way to just how deliberate it was. Less like the stomps from before, they were more akin to the area where Erik had jumped from, albeit covering less area.
-
A soft smile formed on Marcus’s face as he heard that Bill wanted Erik to basically take it easy on Marcus. Even in a fight, Bill is still kind hearted.

“Thank you Bill. But I’ll be fine. I can take care of myself.”

“At least we know that, he isn’t trying that hard now.”

“Well if this is him not trying, I don’t wanna see him when he’s serious,”
Marcus says. With Erik, now walking towards Marcus, he started thinking about the best option in this scenario. At first he thought about rushing the brute, and slicing that very rock in half, but then he figured just as fast as he rushed him; Erik could easily slam the boulder onto him.

“Don’t forget Marcus, I am a multi-form weapon. I suggest the shuriken in combo with the smoke. That way you’ll be able to clear the distance quite quickly and apply some damage,” Silver states.

“Alright sounds like a plan. I also got something else in mind as well.”

With that said, it was time for the two to put their plan in action.

“Alright Silver, Shuriken mode,” Marcus calls out, causing his katana to start glowing before morphing into a giant shuriken. Marcus held the shuriken off to his side as he charged forward. He then swings his arm forward, hurling the shuriken in Erik’s direction. The shuriken was spinning rapidly as it was sent flying, and right before it got any closer towards Erik, Marcus called out another command.

“Smoke bomb mode, go!” He orders as he continues his charge. The shuriken explodes in a huge cloud of smoke, obscuring Erik's vision. Moving quickly, Marcus enters the smoke, using his soul perception to track Erik. If Erik was still within the smoke, and once he was close enough, Marcus would attempt to hit Erik with his Focal Soul Force in his gut. Hoping to cause some damage.
-
Marcus’s words managed to soothe the turmoil swirling within Bill’s gut, his reassurance that he would be fine was all that he needed to hear, to finally start giving it his all. Despite having just met, Bill did trust that Marcus was a capable fighter and the fact that he had reaffirmed it was a soothing breeze to the troubled soul.

“Erik... I trust Marcus,” began the Anchor, his face carrying an uncharacteristic expression of resolve and renewed vigor. Marcus did just give him the green light to go full strength, there was no reason now not to secure victory and in the process the reward of getting a victory meal.

“If he says he can take it, then I trust him”, as he said this, Erik would soon begin to feel a slight change in the feel of carrying Bill, as if the Anchor itself felt both lighter and heavier at the same time. With the weight of his resolve strengthened and his doubts and worries cast aside, Bill’s Anchor form now seemed to carry more physical weight, yet through the connection with Erik, it would feel lighter than it had before.

“Erik... I want to win”
, these had been the first competitive words he had spoken in a long time, Bill’s impressionable soul already being influenced by that of his Meister. It was during this period that Marcus and Silver had advanced in their attack, the katana form of Silver quickly changing into that of a shuriken; Bill’s eyes widening at the sight of the multi-formed weapon as well as his innate child-like glee that he was getting to see a real life ninja weapon in action.

“Erik! It's a shuriken! Oh my god it’s really a shuriken!” came an excited squeal as Bill jumped for joy within his soul space. The seriousness he had earlier portrayed long gone now as his hands clasped one another, making the typical ninja gesture.

“Nin-Nin!” he chimed.

What boy didn’t like ninjas? Despite the attack being aimed in their direction, Bill could not help but feel in awe that Silver was not only capable of multiple transformations but was in fact a Ninja weapon. He basically oozed ‘cool’, a characteristic that Bill lacked himself. Depression however did not get a chance to seep in as he made that thought, he simply didn’t have the time to get mopey about it, not when a smoke bomb was coming their way. “Did you hear that? Did you? Did you hear that?” questioned Bill, “He said smoke bomb! A ninja smoke bomb!!!” Bill was now drooling as he eagerly awaited for the smoke bomb to detonate. With the encouragement to act serious, Erik spoke to Bill.

“If ye want an ensured victory, I think I can make that happen,” he stated, as he crushed the boulder between his fingertips. “But I’m not going to go all out.”

Erik had to admit, he was a bit caught off guard by the weapon transformation to a shuriken. Even more so as suddenly Marcus’ partner burst into a cloud of thick smoke. Erik couldn’t help but chuckle. Maybe in a moment they’d begin to understand. Erik breathed in deeply, yet slowly, resisting the urge to cough from the haze. A brief second later, and his lungs were filled. And just as sudden, a burst of air escaped from his throat. Erik’s stomach tensed as he blew upon the ground with incredible force, forcing the smoke around him away. The screen formed a ring around him, but he forced a clearing, like the eye of a storm.

“You know,” he spoke softly, directing his words to Bill. “I used to take up boxing. I was damned good at it, too. But when I first started using me real strength, I had a hard time restraining meself. I had to work off a lot of debt because I kept destroying the equipment. But I found out something about meself I’m quite proud of.”

Erik suddenly brought up a single leg into the air, and suddenly slammed his foot into the ground with terrifying strength, forcing a shockwave originating from a large crater that had suddenly exploded around Erik, pieces of the floor being punched up into the air from the sheer force. And suddenly he shouted proudly, a message to all, especially his current opponent, as well as his newfound friend and partner, sounding not unlike the crack of thunder unleashed upon them all.

“My strength has no limits!”

With permission, Erik grasped Bill’s anchor, and with both hands and a widened grin upon his face, Erik plunged his weapon downwards into the earth, unleashing an even more forceful wave of sudden power. It was like an earthquake condensed into the area of a circular field, and though its destructiveness certainly didn’t reach far enough to cover a major portion of the arena’s total ground, it could certainly be felt. Bill remained rather quiet as Erik began to speak, simply nodding along in agreement to what his new meister had said, the confidence in Erik’s voice breathing life into the small fire within Bill, whose confidence sorely lacked in comparison. It was reassuring to have a sturdy strength like Erik's near him, a strength that made it feel like nothing could stop the two of them if they worked together, that the world was in their hands and no foe could take that away from them. Silently smiling inside, Bill felt the spike in his soul as Erik slammed him into the ground, a surge of power causing the ground to crack, shatter and shake.
-
With the smoke at large, Silver’s grin was filled with confidence. He didn’t imagine this situation taking a turn for the worst until it did. Marcus entered the smoke planning on using it for cover, but before he could fully exercise his plans, an opening was formed at the very center around Erik. Marcus' cover was literally blown away, as he stepped closer to Erik. Still determined to strike with his soul force, Marcus continued his charge. That is until Erik brought his foot down onto the ground causing a shockwave forcing him back.
___________________________________________________

Behold! A battle of different strengths!

Presently it seemed like speed and power were equally matched with one another, the lithe and nimble pair of Marcus and Silver meeting the immovable object that was Erik and Bill. Neither party seemed keen on backing down in this fight as each stood firm to their beliefs, both carrying an equal level of determination when it came to winning this bout. Yet whilst Marcus and Silver had displayed a refreshing flexibility in their assault, the large combination of Bill and Erik had managed to hold their ground, countering the attack with sheer brute physical strength. Speed vs Power, the endless dance between two defining strengths, neither able to gain headway over the other, neither able to solidify their place at the top. This fight could continue endlessly with neither party able to assert their dominance over the other.

All around the quartet of fighters, the sound of gunfire and clashing of weapons could be heard echoing throughout the room, other students entering into their own individual skirmishes with one another as both teams tried to win the game. A clear divide in strengths could be seen between the two teams, the blue’s having a more favorable advantage when it came to purely close combat, whilst the red’s held the advantage over range. Presently it seemed that neither team had made much leeway in regards to capturing the flag, yet that didn’t seem to deter from the energy radiating throughout the gym. This was a battlefield, a stage for Meister and Weapons to display their strengths to one another, a place for a hierarchy to be established as pairs battled for the taste of victory.

Kat & Elyn
Deadeyelee Deadeyelee

Kat watched the battlefield as she escorted Carlin farther away from the fighting. It was a good thing that she was, because Kyleigha ended up shooting in their direction as she was trying to fight the sai twins.

“Stop!” she told Carlin, shifting her body in front of him.

Tink, tink, tink.

The soul bullets vanished after colliding with Elyn’s shield form.

“Nya? Is that all of them?”

“I think so.”
The battle wasn’t progressing quite how he envisioned, with the enemy flag bearer advancing on their frontliner. Which all in all, wasn’t terrible in of itself...

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m one of your teammates, want to play offense while I hold the flag?”

“Nya! When did she get behind us?”

Elyn emotionally winced. He was slipping. And this one wasn’t on our team.

“Cat! She’s not on our team!!! Protect the flag!”

Kat knew that, but instead of yelling something back, she decided to act.

“Don’t do it!” she said to Carlin as she pivoted around him. “She’s lying!”

She took a defensive stance. “Nyan! Did you really think we wouldn’t see through that?” She asked Valentina. They had both been in the latecomer group afterall.

“Hey, Kat? It’s time to skedaddle with the flag. I’ve got a plan.”

Xavian Shilder and Ksenia Sobol
Once the game had started, Xavian and Ksenia had both carefully maneuvered themselves out of the middle of the gymnasium and taken up a position backed against the wall away from all the fighting. Eagle eyes took in every detail they could manage, not only to simply supervise and make sure everyone followed all the rules, but also to learn each pairing’s strengths and weaknesses. After all, if the two of them were going to teach these students, it would be very helpful to observe what each one already knew. There wouldn’t be much time to get them ready for everything that was coming, so they couldn’t afford to waste time on unnecessary lessons.

The first thing they could both observe was that no one really strategized. No one tried to work as much of a team. Well, a few people tried barking orders after the whole thing started, but by that point, it was a little late. Only one team even went so far as to define defense and offense, at least, from what the two professors were able to discern.

While Xavian’s eyes spent more time studying each pair individually, Ksenia’s watched more for opportunities they could use in the future to the advantage of the DWMA. She noted that they had one who fully leapt at the opportunity to wield two weapons at once - a type one utility meister with no training needed in the trade was certainly valuable. The twins who she had personally escorted to class also caught her eyes. It seemed they didn’t need a meister in the first place because each seemed perfectly capable of wielding the other; it was reminiscent of the former reaper Death the Kid’s weapon partners Liz and Patty. In fact, Ksenia recalled that Lady Death had extended an invitation to a pair of their descendants. This must be the pair she had been speaking of. Briefly, Ksenia wondered how those two would do with a meister if they were given one. No doubt it would certainly be an adjustment for the two of them. Their souls were so bound together that adding a third wouldn’t be easy for anyone involved. It would be a fun thing to study when it happened, if Lady Death desired for such a thing to happen in the first place.

Professor Xavian, meanwhile, took particular interest in the pairs that seemed nearly meant to happen. The meister who’s wavelength had caught his attention earlier - Alice, he thought her name was - seemed to have found a weapon partner practically bred for her to wield and it had a wavelength that would come in handy for that particular meister as well. Hopefully it wasn’t needed too soon. The young girl dressed in cat apparel also seemed to fit really well with her weapon partner. Xavian imagined she would’ve done well with almost any weapon, though. What worked really well about her wielding the shield was that Elyn’s massive energy just flooded her, making her own power that much brighter in the process. Their potential was quite vast and Xavian doubted they even knew half of what they were capable of.

Ksenia chuckled slightly when she saw one of the meisters try to pretend to be on the opposite team. It really was a clever move and it was a wise plan given no one really knew each other all that well yet. However, her gaze shifted to one of the more offensive meisters when Valentina’s ploy was called out. She was surprised that the feisty meister wasn’t so sucked into the fighting that she could step back and look over everything, actually. Her initial read on the girl had been that she would get lost in the fight and lose track of everything else. Surprises were always nice.

While she was studying that scenario, she saw Xavian move out of the corner of her eye and reached out to put a hand on his shoulder. He wouldn’t have moved unless he saw something dangerous. Briefly, Ksenia shifted her gaze to the situation Xavian seemed to be perturbed by. One of the meisters - the blue team’s flagbearer, actually - had shot and embedded wires into another kid’s back and seemed to be about to whip the poor meister quite violently. “Wait, Xavian. Give the meister’s weapon a chance to restrain his instincts.”

Sure enough, as she said it, it seemed that Quinn’s weapon partner had been able to alter their objectives to something that didn’t quite require their intervention just yet. Xavian sighed and stepped back again before turning his head to see that Salem and Bellamira had joined the events that were slowly unfolding. Seeing the fog that spilled into the gymnasium led Xavian to roll his eyes, though. “Keeping them safe is hard enough without you lugging in a bunch of smoke. How do you imagine they’ll be able to restrain themselves when they can’t see what is going on?”

Laughter echoed from Ksenia. “Have a little faith, Xavian. Although, Salem, if you were truly hoping for this whole game to end quickly, you wouldn’t have added impaired visibility into the challenges these students were working on dealing with.”

There was fighting, here and there, across and above. The damage being caused didn't matter anymore. The longer Viola stood on the idly, the more paralyzed she remained as if roots sprouted and planted her legs from movement. Her hand trembled, not out of rage or fear, but a heartache. She wasn't ready for battle. Not in the least. Seeing everyone fight like a bunch of wolves at one another's throat for the sake of a flag was ludicrous. People got hurt! Bruises crafted, blood spilled like wild animals. She signed up to fight Kishin eggs, and defend humanity, not to oppose them. Viola's wavelength wavered. This was new and getting out of hand. The peppermint girl was on the floor practically begging for help from her meister who no longer seemed to want to fight and instead wore a devastated expression. Arma was being pulled by the barbed wire meister and shedding some blood, their flag is currently being compromised, her captain was being assaulted by a new enemy, the big guy is throwing boulders onto the rushed male from team blue."Elign…" She started. "This…this isn't right. Everyone is aggressive, and putting their life over a stupid flag. They're not even human when they fight." Clearly she was being dramatic, but she didn't know how a battle even looked like. She was used to her comfort zone. "I'm pretty much useless in this game. I don't know what to do and I don't know who to help. I want to assist everyone, not just one. When the hell is there going to be a time where we fight one another?" She took a deep breath before squatting and weeping like a baby as she scratched her head in panic. "I'm so useless, I don't deserve to be on anybody's team." She wept. Elgin watched the battle unfold. It was hard to tell where they were actually needed. It was complete chaos and he had no idea how the hell they could help even the playing ground. Looking back over at Arma he’s in a terrible position too. There are two melee fighters targeting him and he had a bow. Maybe if he and Viola could… “Yo Viola… I think I got....” He was cut off by the girl’s sudden breakdown. Spouting out some right overly dramatic nonsense. “Wha...what!? Hey this isn’t the time for this! Get your ass up so we can help our teammates already!” Viola comically sulked harder holding Elgin in her hands and head hung low. A small squeal of incoherent words as she spoke, “why are you yelling at me? This is hard and my first time. I thought you were nice.” “W-what part about me did you find nice!? I’ll have you know I was one of the greatest delinquents in the NOT class you know!” … The more he heard Viola’s weeping, the cross symbol appeared on his weapon form, symbolizing his annoyance. “A-alright already I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to upset you so PLEASE STOP!” His assertive plea was enough to calm the hooded girl down and listen to what he has to say in the midst of battle.

“Phew…” He exhaled, basking briefly in this moment of peace before continuing. “You realize we’re in EAT right? The reason why they call it that is because this class will eat you up if you can’t handle it. This is the real deal. If you break down over a little game of capture the flag then how the hell is you supposed to fight a Kishin!” Elgin sighed from within his soul space, a dead serious look on his face. “Or maybe you can’t handle it. Maybe you just ain’t cut out to be a Meister huh?” He was taking a risk saying these words. But just maybe… “Make me the best weapon that everyone adores eh? Ha! How can a crybaby Meister manage something like that!?” He finished there. Hoping that his words will spark something in Viola’s spirit. A shadow casts over the girl’s eyes as she takes a deep breath and bares her teeth in offense. “Crybaby?” She croaked. “A crybaby? Is that what you just called me? Why you insolent, little excuse of a weapon! If you haven’t noticed, this isn’t exactly how things are supposed to be! This isn’t what I was taught. I was taught to…to...” She paused recalling her duty and understanding Elgin’s attempt to bring a rise out of her and start doing something. Honestly she was furious. She wanted this game to end and continue this conversation with someone else she had a bone to pick with. “Sorry.” Viola vocaled. “You’re not to blame or any of the things I said. I appreciate knocking some sense into me. You really are a kind person, but I’m done playing this damn game.” Indeed, a fire grew within her filled by annoyance. If Elgin was observant, he could feel something else. A strange wavelength. Elgin’s face contorted into a sort of comical fear when he saw the face Viola was making towards him. “C-crap…” He meant to spark a fire not start an inferno! Though she was quick to calm herself down again. After realising what Elgin was trying to do. Though he still felt weird whenever he heard someone call him a ‘kind’ person. “Hey… I was just trying to get you focused again. That’s all there is to it.” He didn’t believe himself to be a kind person at all. Not after the kind of people he used to hang with in the past. Not after what he did to get away from it… His train of thought was broken by a strange feeling starting to wash over him. What was this? Was it Viola’s wavelength? What the hell... “Hey… Vi… What is this? What the hell are you planning!?”

Said girl ignored his question and started walking over to the blonde and her convulsing friend. The girl who showed some sympathy for Viola. It was her turn to return the favor. The closer the hooded girl got, the colder she felt. A horrible feeling acting up just like before. It came from the meister. Something unstable whirling about, gradually escalating. Viola flinched unsure whether or not to try to just take her down before matters get worse or consult. Obviously, she cautiously chose the latter. "Oi!" She hollered to the meister in hopes of grasping her attention. She knelt down in surrender, the point of the blade dug into the ground as if to say 'I mean you no harm'. Whether or not the blonde was not convinced is up to her and no blame would befall onto her. The game still continued after all.

Alice’s first reaction to seeing someone approach them from the side was to put her body between Koira and Viola. No one was going to get a good hit on her partner. She was in a seriously unstable situation and taking advantage only meant that the enemy had no care in the world. The real enemy wouldn't hesitate, due to this just being a training exercise. But watching as the hooded Meister dug her blade into the ground and knelt down, it caught her off guard. Was this some sort of joke? What is she doing? In the middle of all this, she’s doing something so stupid! My team can attack her at any given moment! The blonde thought with gritted teeth, feeling her legs get licked a few times from the cold flames coming off of her partner’s body, causing her to shiver. “I don't know what you think you’re doing, but if you dare lay a finger on my partner… I swear I will come after you!” her heart ached for Koira, seeing her this way… Knowing that she shouldn't turn her back to an enemy, she couldn't help it. Her body was starting to slightly tremble, all the while she was oozing blood from her shoulder blades, glass dug into her skin that she hadn't noticed before. It must have been from when Arma kicked her earlier. For the first time today, Viola raises her head to make eye contact. There was a fire in her eyes that looked quite intimidating and odd. They were different than anyone's average shape. "I know you're in distress, this isn't a game anymore. Not for me or you or your partner. You both fought well, and now is the time for you to back down. Your friend is in no condition to fight, neither are you. Sometimes in a war, you need to know when to bail and survive. Your friend was kind to me, and I would like to repay the favor by ending this damn game."

“How am I in no condition to fight? I’m perfectly fine.” she looked over her shoulder, “I can keep going, my body is a weapon, I know how to evade and do what I have to.” her attention then moved back to her partner “My main priority is to get Koira out of here.” she knelt down and spoke gently “Koira, I’m here, it’s me, Alice. I’m going to get you to a safer place.” ignoring the Coldfire brushing her skin, she gently lifted Koira’s arm and slipped underneath. Her body started to freeze with the flames, though it didn't stop the determination that the blonde had. “I-If you can end t-this game...G-Go for it..” she said, showing clear signs of the cold affecting her as she lifted Koira from the ground and then suddenly picked her up in bridal style. She wasn't too heavy, though the strength she was using made her shoulder blades sting from the glass which made her hiss in pain. Viola had no intention of offending the blonde. It was evident she was a stubborn one. She didn't know when to give in for the sake of her friend. Pushing herself to the limit with whatever the hell she had going on within her seemed dangerous. The only thing Viola wanted is for Koira's safety. Instead of pressing forward with a rant, she simply nods in acknowledgment and rises to her feet, spinning on her heel to face Quinn, blue team's flag bearer. It was nothing personal and was the easiest one in front of her. As the hooded teen steps closer to Arma and Quinn, she clenches Elgin. 'I really wish I brought my headphones to move to the rhythm. Elgin...we're going into battle. Be ready, and trust me, ok?' Viola approached the peppermint girl, clutching at the ground as if suffering the worst pain imaginable. He didn’t notice before but this girl was really in pain right now. He was even half tempted to shift back into human form to help her. The game be damned! However that wasn’t his call to make and Viola looked to have some sort of plan so he decided to roll with whatever she had going on. Though the way Viola approached the vulnerable girl made him think she was going to take advantage of the situation. “Woah wait a minute isn’t this a little too far? She’s already done for!” He cried out but was only met with silence. Viola lifted him high in the air as if to perform a stabbing maneuver. “WOAH WOAH WAI-*Slam*” Viola had dug the blade into the ground. Leaving Elgin utterly gobsmacked. “Wait what?” Elgin listened intently to the exchange between her and the blonde girl. Somewhat understanding what’s going on now. As the blonde girl lifted her weapon to carry her to safety he could see how that weird-looking aura was affecting her. “We’re in a class full of right weirdos huh?” The peppermint girl was definitely unique; he'd give her that, still he hoped she’d be alright after all of this. Viola turned towards the blue team’s flag bearer. Giving a pretty obvious indication of just what she was trying to do now. While Viola spoke to Elgin, preparing him for the oncoming conflict. He himself smirked with his usual shit-eating grin as he replied. “Alright I’ll put my faith in ya. Damn shame about the music though. Looks like you're gonna have to settle for my beautiful voice.” Viola scoffed, feet kicking up dirt as she sped up and held the blade out ready to swing towards. "Hey, why don't you play a game with me, punk!"

While the pair walked from both Alice and Koira, the Meister carried her partner towards the teachers, ignoring the trembles and the cold washing over her. Movements were slow, her shoulder blades were burning. “I will not...Give up...on you...Koira...” said Alice in small breaths as she continued to push forward to the teachers. There was fog, but it didn't stop her, she kept going and going. It felt like it was taking her years to get over to them, but eventually she had made it, her skin pale, her lips blue. Carefully she put Koira down before collapsing next to her and passing out in front of the teachers from being extremely cold. If she didn't get warm in time, she may die.
