Aleksander

Popping his back, Aleksander stood from his bed and straightened what little wrinkles arose in his coat from laying down before quickening his stride to catch up to Kat. Either their roommate was going to catch up or he had free reign of the room, Aleksander didn't care much. Truthfully, all he really did care about was finding out more information about her and why he felt such a contrast so appealing as one question entered his mind: Is her line like mine...are we each other's anti-thesis? Such a thought was not one to be said aloud, just the implications it arose alone were enough, but it was still an intriguing thought, for such an intriguing girl.

"I apologize," Aleksander began, hoping to get back on topic. "before we were so rudely interrupted, I believe I asked you about where you come from?" He turned his head to her, watching as she bent and controlled light, illuminating and flashing her sneakers with what appeared to be little to no effort. He felt his features ease into a smile as he watched, fascinated by the light. He generally hated bright lights, the sun being the worst offender in this case, but he only found himself fascinated by the light Kat created. Maybe because it wasn't pure light? There was certainly enough purple to make it pleasing enough on his eyes...but that didn't feel like the right answer. He found he really needed to get a hold on his thoughts when he was around her, as they ran rampant. He forced his brain to slow down as he patiently awaited a response from Kat.

"I live here now," Miranda said. "And I'm here to learn to haunt people. Because, if you and the last girl were any indication, people here are hard to spook. So if I can learn to scare people here, I can definitely scare the regular living humans."

She didn't have much to unpack - extra bedding, silk flower arrangements, and white dresses (purely aesthetic - ghosts didn't really need to wash their clothes). She noticed the potted plants the other girl was putting out and nodded approvingly.

When Soran realized his new roommate wouldn't be arriving for some time, he took his staff and reslung it over his back. Making his way out of the room he started deciding where he should go. He could go to the training rooms or just search the halls for conversation. He sighed. Who was he kidding? He never had been good at starting random conversations. He made his way to the training grounds.

Katarina

At first, Kat could only smile back at him. She snapped out of her daydream and repeated what he asked back in her head several time, casting her gaze down again.
"Where I came from isn't a place that should be said aloud," she spoke softly, any emotion barren from her voice. She pondered for a moment before her eyes lit up again. She grabbed his hand and pulled him outside with her into the courtyard. Light still peeked through the horizon, but barely, just giving them enough vision to see each other. Soon, of course, the lighting of the campus would illuminate the two, but not yet. She had to be quick. She sat him down in front of her and she sat with him, crossing her legs and locking eyes.

Before he could even say anything, she moved her finger up and down, writing in the air in front of him the word
"ALLOWAY"

"Trust me, the nature spirits are much scarier than you could ever be." Tecomaria laughed a little before realizing what she said may have been a little mean. "Oh... I mean, but I am sure you will be plenty scary!" She encouraged her with a wide smile on her face. She placed the last of her plants on out. "I am here to learn to be a better Druid, So I can take care of the nature spirits." She explained. The plants on the windowsill now in full view. There were five in total one Rosemary, one looked to be a breed of mint, one ginger, one hibiscus, a nettle plant.

Lucifer struggled with the demon bit killed it slitting it's throat. He got up brerging lightly. He looked around for people to train with or talk to. He saw one walking somewhere he guessed he might as well tagg along. Lucifer didn't really care for people that much but he tried. Lucifer jogged up next the the guy as lucifer was dripping and smelling of blood. Lucifer waved and said"sup where you going? ". @Blitzer

Soran took a look at him and winced at the blood.

"No where in particular, I was planning on doing some training," Soran tapped the quarterstaff on his back. "Looks like you were doing that with a summon?"

The hibiscus seemed to almost wink at Miranda as the druid set it out. "Spirits, huh," she said, turning over the possibility of other incorporeal beings than ghosts in her mind. Come to think of it, she'd never even met another ghost. "I'm Miranda, and I guess you could say I'm a spirit. Not a nature spirit, though. What's your name?"

PROFESSOR LAZARUS CHAUNCEY

"Please, I wouldn't dream of disrupting your classes. I meant out of school hours, I should've phrased it better." Lazarus replied, the corners of his lips upturning pleasantly. "I use the time at lunch, for anyone who wishes to learn fencing. Sometimes on the weekends, and after lessons have ended. I don't wish to be any trouble, not for you especially. Maybe for the secretary, however interrupting lessons for my own needs is entirely out of the question. The hall is all yours, Professor Averneth." Ending his sentence with a small, comical bow, Chauncey flashed another quick grin, that vanished when he reasserted his professional behaviour. Of course, it was surely clear that the man beneath the veil of educated tones, and perfect posture was indeed a humorous character. Not only with his sarcastic remarks, yet the twinkle which resided deep in his eyes. "To tell you the truth, Miss Minerva, anyone to take a job here is half mad already. I doubt many would comment that I, myself, am 'normal'. Then again, the only 'normality' in this world, is nothing. A concept thought up by the vox populi, since we adore labelling." Alas, he paused the conversation to turn towards the newest teacher amongst them.

"Ah, Professor Maverick. I heard you'd be joining us this year, I'm Professor Chauncey. Call me Lazarus, the pleasures mine." Holding out his palm to shake, he folded the other behind his back by habit. "Welcome to the academy, I hope you make it past the year." Examining the newest addition to the teaching faculty from head to toe, Lazarus rocked slowly back and forth on his heels. He'd heard about the man being a demon, primordial at that. Interesting to say the least. Knowing more than he'd let on, Chauncey managed to keep his features creaseless, seeming to retain a tranquil composure, no matter what. A trait he was rather well liked for.

@Aio

lucifer smiled and chuckled. "Yeh why you ask?" Said lucifer in a happy tone. Lucifer didn't really care where they where going he just wanted to talk to someone. @Blitzer

Soran rolled his eyes. "Just wondering. If it wasn't a summon I'd be worrying. Do you wish to sparr?"

Soran had sized him up, and he seem like he would be a decent opponent.

"Don't worry, I won't use any of my staff enchantment, if we do. At least unless you have other magic than summoning?"

Professor Minerva Averneth

Minerva smiled, "Thank you, Professor." Nodding her head as thanks, before she covered her mouth to hide stifle her laughter as she watched him. Between stifling her laughter and listening to the Professor she caught herself and returned to her more professional self. Straightening her shoulders as she smoothed out the folds of her dress as she coughed to dispel her laughter. She nodded in agreement when he talked about taking a job in the academy.Personally, Minerva had never worked outside of a witches and wizards academy, this being the first academy where all were welcome Minerva was slightly out of her element, shocked to even be allowed to teach in such a prestigious academy.

Her attention was turned from Lazarus to the new teacher before them. The man looked oddly familiar, perhaps seeing him in the halls from time to time last year. She watched the exchange between Lazarus and the new professor who Lazarus called Maverick. She decided she should most likely introduce herself, nodding slightly in Maverick's direction before speaking. "A pleasure to meet you, sir. I'm Professor Averneth but please just call me Minerva" She said as she folded her hands behind her back, her eyes running over Maverick, almost as if to size him up.

Lucifer thought e didn't have much else but r could do a lot with what he had. "Uhhh no thats my ability" said lucifer smiling playing with a dagger. @Blitzer

"Fine then, ready yourself."

Soran drew his staff and spun it once before settling into his stance and beckoned for him to come.

Caine Azeroth

Caine sighed as he pulled his back from the wall. He had been resting against it for a little bit, simply taking a small break from life. Schooling was extremely boring. He rather eat thirteen pounds of chocolate....but nothing more than that. He shook his head and began to make his way down the hall, his shoes clacking slightly as they hit the ground. One hand instinctively fingered the silver cuff on his right wrist.

"Tecomaria. It's nice to meet you Miranda." She said continuing to smile at her. She was glad she didn't seem to take offense to her remark. "I haven't ever met a spirit that wasn't in a plant." She shrugged. "I do want to say this upfront because previous roommates I have had have not been told and their reactions when they found out weren't all that good. I like girls, is that okay with you?" @Mollisol

Miranda smiled at Tecomaria. The ghost had always thought plants had more spirit than humans, although in a different sense of the word - they had more aesthetic value, and they just seemed more free somehow. No responsibilities besides allocating resources to make food and flowers.

She wasn't taken aback by Tecomaria's question - her old college roommate had freaked out when she learned Miranda's orientation. "You're fine. I like girls too." She shrugged. "And boys. Point is, it's not really something I'm going to complain about."

Lucifer smiled as he made the dagger disappear. He summoned a long sword and started to charge slashing quickly and amazingly with the greatness of the sword. @Blitzer

Aleksander

When her hand grabbed his, Aleksander could only look at her in surprise before his smile grew somewhat and allowed himself to be pulled in whatever direction she had planned on going. he could understand her inability to speak of where she came from; names had power and some planes of existence were better left unspoken. Coming into the courtyard just as the sun was disappearing over the horizon cast a sense of calm over Aleksander, though he knew the darkness would only have free reign for a few moments before the courtyard was illuminated. Sitting down with her, he watched as she exorcised yet another way she could manipulate light writing a single word in front of him, but it was all she needed to write for him to grasp just how unspoken it was. He could only smile once again at not just the contrast, but the small irony. Light conjuration from someone from the literal darkness. He was reminded by Mora's words of things never being one way. She was a prime example. Just another piece to the intrigue of her, and yet even more theories. They might not be as alike on a planar level, but darkness was a deep root in both of their lives. He realized his thought process would ultimately waste the small amount of time they had in the comforting dark of the courtyard.

"Well, that's certainly unexpected, but no less impressive." Aleksander stated before nodding to himself, feeling like she deserved to know where he was from since she had answered him. "I'm Ruvikan; my family, as far we can tell, always lived in Ruvika. Winters can get pretty harsh, but it's a strong nation, one I take great pride in." Aleksander sighed after saying that, before continuing, "Sadly, the people don't take too kindly to any form of magic, and a lot of summoners died there." It was a fact of life: Death came for all, especially those who wield power unlike normal folk. "Witch" burnings on crucifix pyres, mass drownings, public executions...the list went on. It was a fact of life, yes, but it didn't mean Aleksander had to like it.

Katarina

Kat plopped down on her back next to him, staring up at the tops of the many trees that surrounded the academy. You could faintly see the stars. She loved the night, it was calming. It reminded her of home.

Alloway was the refuge place for many elementals and supernaturals that were forbidden from other worlds, and most places on this side of the universe. They were evil, dark creatures, locked away in the darkness to spend their days. It wasn't always like this, though. Things were a lot easier when the Farcri family ruled over a majority of the Void. They were strong, and noble people, until evil stepped over the line, creating Hell for the family. Wars broke out between the people and those who wanted to watch it all fall apart. Sadly, most of the population was wiped clean and the remaining community fell apart. It was in every history book, every history class. It is prohibited by The Council for any supernatural being to enter this place. That is why her last name stuck out to anyone she came in contact with. The Farcri family, for many years, had been in hiding. Katarina was the first of the family to emerge since her eldest brother graduated years ago.

"I watched the entire Empire fall, you know," she looked up at him. "I was too young to understand what was happening, and for years we couldn't leave," she shook her head.
"I'm determined to be the best damn Conjurer that ever set foot in this universe. We can get what we had back, we just need more time."

She had never really opened up to anyone, especially so quickly. But, she enjoyed him around. He wasn't like anyone else, they seemed so... similar. Not physically, but it was evident they had some kind of bond.

Aleksander

At her words, Aleksander felt his fists clench. Such a tragedy as the collapse was hell to read about, and to experience it at a young age...even if she didn't understand what happened then, she carried a burden. Another soul damaged and for what? There was no reason for such a tragedy.

"I believe you can." Aleksander said, and it even took him time to register that he spoke it out loud. Having already started, he knew he couldn't stop now. "You have the drive, you can get stronger. As long as you have the ambition, nothing can stand in your way." He realized he wasn't so much talking to her in that last sentence, but what did that matter? They were alike in more ways than he first thought. That shared ambition to become stronger, to surpass all who came before. It didn't matter whose ran deeper or the reasons for them; the drive was the same. The more he thought, the angrier he became. It didn't matter what dimensions or planes beings of magic were from, they were always the ones singled out, the ones targeted. There was no place safe for them, no sanctuary. No, no longer. I'll make it so. The bond between us, wherever it stems from, it can help us. We can make each other stronger, and I can create a world for us--all beings who could control magic--a sanctuary.

Aleksander didn't say this, there were too many extra variables for him to work out before he could utter such a thought, but it would be foremost in his mind--well, along with her of course.

Maverick Lucian

Maverick smiled shaking professor Lazarus hand. Letting go Maverick nodded his head towards Professor Averneth " Thank you both for the welcome I most certainly hope this year will be interesting. With all these students of various backgrounds it should be. Never really taught this much of a variety, but thats part of the coming challenge. Well while i do wish to chat more im afraid i must depart to my class room." Maverick laughs " I tell you out of the few hundred years iv bin teaching it never gets easier trying to map out a new campus on the first day!" he said calmly. With a slight bow Maverick took a step backwards, before turning dissipating into a cloud of black mist. Maverick appeared in the last structure he remembered being in the main office. While he did startle a few student Maverick found the information he needed to get to his class. While normally he would of found out where his room is before hand; He found this time would be more interesting exploring a little. He walked along the halls passing rooms, before he found his way into a courtyard. It was quite beautiful really for where this place was. He took a moment to breath, before making his way to his room. After a few minutes Maverick arrived in his room looking around. It was quite nice compared to others. Maverick began assorting his room making sure everything was in place. He had set up some arcane interfaces, which would allow students to access all the information needed in his class. He sat in his chair leaning back into the chair. He sighed, as a pipe appeared in his mouth. A small bright blue spark flashed igniting a special compound Maverick created. Exhaling  a cloud of blue smoke Maverick looked out his window to the outside. Indeed this year would be quite interesting.

Katarina

She closed her eyes, taking in the soft breeze. It was a cool night, so she shivered a bit. Nothing she couldn't handle.

She opened her eyes again. They glowed faintly in the dim light. She stared straight up, pondering what she could even do at this point. For years, she had tried to hone in on her magical abilities, but to no avail. At her age, her siblings were killing machines; warriors. She dreaded the next time she would see them, especially her eldest siblings. Blaithe had always been rough with her, never letting her have the smallest thing. It was a tough environment, and he treated it as such. She wouldn't grow up to be another failure, yet here she was, still unable to even summon most things. Mostly only light. She couldn't quite wrap her head around what she was doing wrong. It was like a disease or something, who even knew. It wasn't normal.

She looked over at Aleks again. Just looking at him gave her comfort. He made her feel safe. It was a secure feeling knowing that they were so similar. Of course, he wasn't the most talkative, or the most social person, but again, neither was she. She cared for this boy immensely already, even having known him for the few hours she did.

He would rise up, and he would become powerful. She knew it, and she would help him.

Her mouth opened and she spoke, without even realizing her mouth was moving.

"I won't leave you, I promise."

Aleksander

His eyes shot open and he turned to face Kat, mouth agape. It shouldn't have shocked him so much, but it hit harder than anything he's ever heard before. He knew in his heart then, that she never would. Easing himself onto his back, Aleksander turned to look into her eyes and he found himself lost. He knew this wasn't normal, and it was very much so irrational, seeing as how little they had known each other for, but in a way, it did make sense. They contrasted each other as much as they complimented each other. He was born in light but was a summoner of darkness. She was born in the dark, but was a conjurer of light. It was almost poetic. As he looked into her violet irises, he knew three things immediately. Firstly, she was going to achieve her ambition, she would become the greatest Conjurer the world, and the void, had ever seen. If she couldn't achieve it on her own, he would do everything in his power to make it so. Secondly, she would take back her home and restore her family name, and he would help her in any way she needed. And lastly, she would bring the light into his new, perfect world. Their world and sanctuary.

He reached towards her, mind almost shutting down as he spoke, "I will always be by your side. Every step of the way."

Katarina

She blinked slowly. In all of her years, she had never heard those words. She felt warm, almost numb. It was a confusing feeling, but it wasn't bad. She closed her eyes and vowed to herself that she would protect him, no matter what. She knew he would as well. They would build, thrive, and they would come out on top, together. They would be inseparable.

She opened her eyes to look at him again, grinning and holding up her hand and extending her pinkie finger to him. It was an odd gesture, to secure their words with such a funny way of promising, but it just seemed logical to her.

Light danced in her eyes as she looked at him. She didn't quite know what it was, what this feeling was. But it was secure. She knew it was and there was no stopping it. She adored him, whether she knew it or not.
