loftilyhonest loftilyhonest i adore keaton tbh. Fix nothing. I will admit that the bit abt 'his neighbors draft horse' made me lauch like a fool in the breakroom at work.

epicstar epicstar hark, some vagrants!!

Im plotting away like a madman, i hope yall like my lil mysteries. If youd like to put in a word for more 'personal conversation'y events or more actionny events, ill take that into account!

Or, you know, anything! Im pretty new at this... pseudo-gamemaster thing and i wanna do a good job!!

I am excited-
Also tempted to make another charrie in case my precious lil cinnamon roll gets killed off by wolves or something xD

Imma do it

Though the layers of snow
may make warmth a rarity
their bonded hearts shall know
friendship's endless prosperity
(Yeesh, don't know if I can match that one)

Their destinies knit
like a Snowshoer blanket
Their fates intertwined
All their hopes, dreams, and kismet

social social that's a really fancy character sheet you've got, it's really pretty!

loftilyhonest loftilyhonest epicstar epicstar y'all gotta quit with the lil poems, they are TOOO CUTE!

"the poems are too cute!"
the GM cries in dismay
"they're a saccharine gun shoot
an adorable disarray!"

but the loud cries turned mute
for we cannot change our ways --
These poems will be our pursuit
until the end of our long-lived days

( epicstar epicstar do you wanna continue this poem chain we have going on... :0)

loftilyhonest loftilyhonest

fine, quoth the gm, their composure done harm
carry on rhyming and see if i care
for the poems you pen in alarm
as your precious characters're mauled by a bear!

no no please go on it is adorable

no no please go on it is adorable

keaton walked through the woods in search of a duck
a juicy specimen with feathers to pluck
but as he stepped through the brush he had quite a scare --
he had been walking for so long,
he did not see the bear.

it was at that moment he ran out of luck
as the unfriendly bear soon tore him to muck
words flew out of his mouth as fell thunderstruck
quoth the unlucky farm boy: "oh fuck."

i'm supposed to be writing the plot
with twists and turns and chekhov's guns
but who cares what i ought or ought not
when writing poetry is so much fun

a plea from your friendly gm
who is trying to put a good spin
if you have thoughts, be thee a gem
i'll take 'em and i'll write 'em in!

ooh, i have an idea!! it's not a big spin or anything, but -- if you haven't done so already, it'd be cool to brainstorm some festivals celebrated in fool's errand :0 RPing during those sorts of events would be really fun!

smh @ myself... can't believe i broke the most sacred rule... in fool's errand you RHYME or you DIE >:^V

also, i've been wondering this since the first time i read the lore page: what's the food like in fool's errand?? :0

ooh, i really should have specified! i think a lot of things are made for convenience--foods that can be made in one pot over one fire. knowing what i know about medieval cookery where that was the case--probably soups and porridges? lots of things that can be put in one pot and be more or less good when removed

i know that sometimes medieval cooks would put partitions into their boiling pots and put, like, meat in one part, vegetables in another, and some puddings wrapped in cloth in another? so probably there's some element of that. they stockpile a lot of dry grains, so like... Welcome To Barley. Please Enjoy A Complimentary Bowl Absolutely Heaping With Plain Unseasoned Barley. (barley is pretty good though) like many medieval villages, they have a communal bread oven in which all bread is baked, but this is less a way to keep peasants from making money as it is a result of the idea that Keeping A Fire Going Is Hard In This Climate.

food's probably pretty bland, i can't imagine a lot of herbs would grow up there. typically people in the medieval period drank mostly small beer, which had a low alcohol content just to make sure nobody got fucking dysentery from their nice glass of river water, but since fool's errand folk use snowmelt, they can drink more water. their religion views alcohol as immoderate and so there isn't much around.

the innkeeper, on the other hand, has a lot of time on his hands and while he does cook somewhat along those lines, he has the time and energy to maintain more than one cooking fire and several instruments, as well as having knowledge of diverse lowland cooking methods. he makes things like meat pies and stuff, though they're fairly bland. he is of.... fantasy asian descent, so he sometimes cooks noodle dishes and things, though he doesn't do it often for lack of proper spices. the inn is also the only place where bird meat is served--snowshoe folk won't touch it, and would get really mad if they knew kava was cooking with it.

The depth of Fool's Errand is fricken amazing. It seems like you got the basics and such down, it's looking good!

And, I know that it's a fairly minuscule part of the town's system, but what would they do for punishments? For example, a fight breaks out and the person who initiated the fight was caught. Would they be punished in cruel ways, or are the townsfolk lenient when it comes to those situations?

hey, thank you so much! //you say that, but then i'm a dummy who forgets what food there is and has to make it up on the fly. enjoy your barley i guess.

i'd say for punishment--there isn't actually a lot of crime in FE. there's no money, and there are few enough people that most everyone occupies a niche, so there's not a lot of wealth inequality there. also attributable to the low population--everyone knows everyone else's business, especially since pretty much the only recreational activity is Sit In Warm House With Friends And Gossip Because It'll Kill You Outside. so there just isn't much crime. i can see there being, like, domestic abuse and occasional brawling there, though, in which case the matriarch gets involved on a case by case basis. punishments usually involve a strange combination of community service and public shaming. and also people will never, ever forget about it.

i'm glad my worldbuilding passes muster! maybe tomorrow i'll add this stuff to the lore page.

i really love delilah, by the by! i liked the note about her being 'nothing but helpful' in her business practices. do you think that would cause her to be taken advantage of? also--does the torn-up map have any significance?

Thank you so much! And no, the torn map is just an item she had carried with her on her treck to Fool's Errand. It pretty much only implies she had a bit of difficulty making her way over, that's all! I'm sorry if that confused you or anything.
