Fantasy Slayers: Modern Maniacs

'Ooooh, this looks interesting.' Conner thought as he clicked on a sight. It was about the similarities of werewolves in multiple mythologies. One of the first things he saw was that it was commonly agreed that on an infected person, their ring finger was as long as their middle finger. "I think I may have found something that may be useful. I'm not sure how reliable it is, but it's something." Conner said out loud, swiveling his laptop around and pointing at were it said that.

"Hmm," Jane wondered. "You like video games? We could skip Gamestop and head to my place...I've got a good setup." Jane suggested.

"Taking me to your place, what do you have planned?" He chuckled slightly, but he had never spent one on one time with girls at their place. He was nervous as what to expect, "Sure lets go to Gamestop, pick up something to entertain you.".

"Figured we could just hang out and play some video games...I'm not good at dates, so I just like to hang out." Jane said and grinned. "And honestly I've already got a good selection of games...I usually just go to talk to the employees." She said and laughed. "C'mon, my place isn't far." She said and took Luke's hand, guiding him to her house.
(brb guys, gotta shower)

"Interesting..." Amelia said, reading the information on Conner's screen, completely ignoring what her teacher had said. She was actually impressed with Conner's work. She didn't expect anyone to actually take her side and help her investigate the goings-on. She thought they would all just believe in what Mr. Grey was telling them. She was certainly grateful for the help.

While Conner was finding results on the internet, Amelia was still trying to cross-reference incident reports and folklore to figure out a way to trap or ambush the werewolves. Conner seemed to have a good lead and could already tell what he was planning before his design came to fruition. "Get them while they're still human..." Amelia whispered as she flipped pages in her book.

"Exactly." Conner said, turning his computer back towards himself. "I'm not sure if they can still only be killed when they are in human form, but we could just load up on silver just in case. And if we don't get them right away." His mind was going now, flicking between ideas. "You said that it was a pack, right? Could you tell me how many might be in said pack." One planned involved them picking them off one by one and thinning the heard.

"Pack is an accurate term," Amelia replied, flipping more pages. "Werewolves seem to interact similarly to wolves. Packs appear to be between five and eleven large. One alpha and its... mate? It's weird thinking of them as animals," Amelia said, changing the subject and looking away from the book. "I mean, they're still people, aren't they?" she asked innocently. "Three to six 'juveniles' and one to three 'newbloods'. This is so weird," she said. "Lycanthropy is a curse, isn't it? So the packs aren't nuclear families like wolves. They could actually be run by the youngest human so long as that human has been a werewolf for longer..." Amelia mused. It was all very strange to think these... people lived double lives. Like the Slayers. They were normal people by day, ruthless monster hunters by night.

"I don't know if I can do this," Amelia said, standing up from the table. "These are people you want us to kill, Mr. Grey. What did they do to deserve this?" she asked incredulously. Her breathing was getting rapid again.

Jane led Luke to her house. She walked through the front door, still holding his hand. They were alone in the house. "Alright, sweet. Help yourself to whatever's in the kitchen and I'll be right back." She said, letting go of his hand and walking upstairs to her room, tossing her backpack in the floor. The house wasn't what you'd expect a tomboy to come from...it was so...fancy-looking and clean.

"Wow, fancy." He watched her walk away, maybe to go change into lingerie or maybe just some comfortable things, either way he walked into the kitchen. Grabbing an apple he hopped on the counter and awaited her to come back, hoping she didn't leave him alone for too long.

"Well, you could look at it as a disease. They got infected through a bite or a scratch. Or if you want, drinking from a werewolf's footprint or wearing nothing but a wolf skin at a full moon doing some magic stuff. That last part is a bit cursy though." Conner said as he read off of a list. "And both curses and diseases have a cure. But some do not."

Jane soon came back down, still in her normal clothes. She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a Monster energy drink form the fridge and chugged it and crushed the can, not holding back a burp. Jane just gave zero f*cks. It was part of her charm. "So, shall we fight against each other in Mortal Kombat? Or work together in Portal 2?" She suggested, those being some of her favorite co-op games.

Mr. Grey looked at Amelia. "Werewolves are beasts who fake a human form. They'll do anything to blend in society. They are monsters, nothing more." He said to Amelia and Conner.

"So they are literally wolves in sheeps clothing. Smart." Conner said in response to what Grey said. It did make sense, no matter hiw evil the thing may be. Hide from the things that out number them and strike when they need to.

"So why don't we cure them instead of killing them?" Amelia asked angrily. Mr. Grey was using them to do his own dirty work, she was convinced of it now. "It's not right!" she shouted, grabbing a couple of books and storming off again. She was going to research a cure and she was going to get it to the werewolves before Mr. Grey could order his hitmen to off them. She didn't believe that werewolves willingly accepted their curse. Who would want to become a predator at night? There was no way for them to control themselves in that state, right? Why would they want to be a threat to everyone they knew?

Amelia hid herself behind a bookshelf in the corner of the library in case anyone came looking for her. She sat down and began to pore over the books she had brought with her, looking for cures and remedies from folklore. There was very little, but she knew she had to find something. She was not okay with murdering helpless people that became monsters.

"Considering I beat you in real life, let me beat you in a game too, Mortal Kombat." He gave her a wink and walked next to her, allowing her to direct him to the game room. He would lose, for he didn't play any games beside Madden and COD, and barely any of either.

She guided him upstairs to her bedroom. The whole room was decorated in band posters, video game-themed items, and photos of her family. A huge picture of her and her dad in his military fatigues sat on her desk, and 2 acoustic and one electric guitar sat on stands in a corner. A few feet from her bed was a huge TV, several consoles including the Xbox 360 and One, and PS3 & 4. "Game on, then." She said, plopping down in her floor and picking up a controller, and placing another beside her for Luke. A bookcase was next to the TV, only instead of books, it was full of DVDs and video games.

"Guess I should talk to her." Conner said, more to psych himself up to go and talk to her. Shuting his laptop and tucking it under his arm, Conner begins his search for her in the library. It only made sense that she would come to a place that might have the knowledge of a cure in it. "Amelia?" he shouted softly, hoping she'd shout back to make his search easier.

Amelia said not a word. She didn't know who's side Conner was on - the killer or the curer. Eventually, she gave in to her better judgement and stuck an arm out of her hiding place and waved it about for him to see. She was so angry. Killing was not an option in her mind. Zombies were one thing. They were an abomination, a perversion of life and the natural way of things. But werewolves? She couldn't justify killing another person. After all, she could have ended up as a werewolf as easily as a Slayer.

Walking over to where Amelia's hand appeares, Conner sees her sitting with her nose in a book. Well how elae can you read a book. When you hold it out away from you, you can't read a thing. Sitting beside her, he tries to think of something to say. "They don't like wolf's bane, it's a herb. That might be because the bacteria or virus recognizes the threat to it's shrvival and sends signals to the host that say that it is a bad thing. And now that I think of it, it can be seen as a rather good deal for both the virus and the host. The virus gets somewhere to live, and the host get these quote on quote powers." he said with the hand motion and everything. He was going into full nerd mode. "I might need a better way to study them." he said quietly to himself. A test subject would be very useful. He wouldn't be cruel of course, he probably couldn't be a cruel mad scientist, just the second part.

Luke glanced around the room, allowing his eyes to view every poster individually. "Nice place, wouldn't mind staying here a night." He gave her a wink that was overcome with a smile. The room wasn't completely what he expected, he was thinking satanic circles and dark lighting, but it was much more inviting then he thought. He took a seat next to her, allowing the controller to envelop in his hand. "Ready when you are." He was ready, for it seemed anytime he won he got a reward, and he planned to keep this up.

"But does the host really want to become a monster every night?" Amelia asked. "Tell me honestly, would you want to be a werewolf?" she asked Conner, her piercing green-eyed gaze looking into his. "Everyday you would live in fear of hurting those you loved. How could you ever forgive yourself for the things... the monstrous things you would do at night?"

"Your right, I would not like to be one. But, if the right precautions were taken it would be fine. And if there is no cure, what I would like you guys to do would be to put me down. I'm not kidding, I would want you to take my shotgun, put against my head, and pull the trigger. But that is if there is no cure. If we capture one instead of killing it we might be able to find one. But again if there isn't, we would be doing everyone a favor. We would have removed a monster from the streets and put someone out of their fear of harming anyone they love." Conner said, trying to encourage her that what they were going to do was right. But, being the man of science he was, also wanted to know if there was a cure. Hence capturing one and performing tests.

Amelia thought about Conner's words for a moment. He did have a valid argument. What if there was no cure? Sure, there were tales in the books she was reading, but no concrete evidence. After all, the lycanthropy could have built an immunity to it if it acted like a disease or virus. "So we're in agreement, then," Amelia concluded. "We look for a cure. Death is a last resort."

At that moment, Amelia placed her faith in Conner. Had she not just spoken to him about having some sort of connection? Feminine intuition or something, she decided. Together, they might actually have a chance at finding a cure. She had a good feeling that they would.

"Here, I've got a few of these books open to potential cures," Amelia said, pointing to some books laid open on the floor in front of her. "Most of these look barbaric or resemble torture. I don't trust them. The Dark Ages are called that for a reason," she told him, chuckling. "However, there are some accounts of lycanthropy being cured by the Church..." Amelia said, trailing off. She was not a religious person at all - she didn't see any evidence or proof. However, she had discovered that magic was real. Perhaps there was some truth to the miracles described in history stemming from the Church. She laughed inwardly at the thought that Christianity, the ones that condemned and damnified witches and magic, may have been founded based on some prominent practitioners of the arcane arts.

"I'll start researching the methods the Church used in history and see if there's some evidence to back them," she said after contemplating her thoughts. "Do you want to check out the scientific side of things? Looking at lycanthropy like a disease or virus instead of a curse?"

"I could. There might not be as many things. And sifting through whether they are a trustworthy source will slow me down a bit. But I do have a bit of a start with the wolfs bane." he said. He couldn't think of anything else that may be involved in the cure. Perhaps he could look at the chemicals inside wolfs bane, or are produced by it when added to water or chewed. "If we both only find parts, I wouldn't be surprised that the cure would be something like that in parts of a curse and a disease."

(@Huntrey @MysticPisces @KroNicc115 @Beowulf @CloudKitteh school was torture...but im back!)

"Game on...jock." Jane said with a smirk and started the game. After they chose their characters, the fight in the game started. "Loser has to do the winner a favor!" She called as the battle began. She was a pro at this game...she was going to kick his butt.
She laughed as she was utterly kicking Luke's butt in Mortal Kombat. "I think that favor is mine..." She said, her eyes focused on the game screen and the characters they had chosen beating the living sh*t out of each other. She was busting out combos left and right, it was now clear where her Slayer fighting skills came from...or at least what they're inspired from.
