"Baby, baby..." He squeezed her arm softly as she held him like a cripple, "Its just my arm, baby girl." He cringed when he lifted his arm to show her, "So long as I don't bleed that much, I'm fine. Just got to come here, so that they could close the hole." He walked up to the counter and gave his information. Suddenly, a nurse walks by and stares at him, "Tuck?" When he turned to look, it was too late for him to react. The nurse slapped him in the face, "Why the hell are ya here?" It was Ofelia's sister. She still upset about her passing away and the fact that she barely visited her family when Ofelia was with him. "Erm... my arm?" he reacted calmly despite her slapping him. Her eyes were wide and crazy looking, "Who's this?" Two other nurses intervened, "Get her out of here..." They escorted her away, but she didn't let go of her stare on Lu.
Lupa relaxes a little as Tuck reassures her that he was going to be fine, but she didn't dare leave his side. She nods in understanding as she follows him inside before looking over at the nurse who spoke to him. She lets out a barely audible growl at her for slapping Tuck. She immediately tenses up and moves in front of Tuck, staring straight at Ofelia's sister, not breaking eye contact with her until she was no longer in the room. She turns her attention back to Tuck. "Who in the world was that?" She asks quietly.
With Tuck's only arm, he held on to Lu. He was worried she might ponce on the nurse any second. When Lu asked who was the nurse, Tuck gestured her towards the lobby, "Let's sit first, kay? I'm pretty tired." Once they sat, Tuck's name was called aloud, "Tucker James Melman?" He cringed again, but not from pain. He loathed his full name. "I'll tell you in a bit, baby." He didn't think he'd get called on so quickly. A nurse stood at the doorway of room 101. "This way, Mr. Melman." Tuck cringed again, "Just call me Tuck. Tuck." He articulated his name a bit more the second time he said it. His annoyance was becoming apparent. "Lets clean you up real quick before we engage in any other matter." The broke open the package and took out an alcoholic wipe. She began cleaning his wound. Tuck remained quiet while looking at the ground. With his free hand he held Lu's. "Doctor Foreman will be right with you. Would you like some privacy?" The nurse eyed Lu when she asked. "No, she's fine with me." The nurse nodded then left. Tuck looked up towards Lu, "Can we talk about the nurse later?" Today, it turned great to sour real fast. He felt he needed a break.
Lupa followed him from the waiting room to the examining room, holding Tuck's hand tighter than she realized. She was not very fond of this place, even though she was human and her senses were dulled compared to her wolf form but they were still better than a normal human's. The smell of sickness clung in the air mixed with alcohol. It made her uneasy, Tuck's physical contact with her was the only thing keeping her grounded and from running out of the place. She turns her attention back to Tuck as he spoke and nods. "Of course" She says giving him a comforting smile. She didn't really mind if he didn't tell her, it wasn't exactly her business. Of course she was curious and mostly wanted to know what she was up against if she was ever to see the woman again.
(Just to give you a head's up I'm going on vacation to the everglades the 16th-26/27th. It shouldn't interfere with my frequency of posts but if for reason I have no wifi and disappear that's why)
Finally, Tuck was out of the emergency room with his arm in a sling. Both he and Lu were walking towards the car, hand in hand. It was quiet for some time. Tuck's mind was racing with thoughts. Being in a hospital reminded him of a lot of things, mostly bad. He led Lu to the passenger door and opened it for her, "I'm driving." He went to the other side and began to drive off in his truck. "Well, that nurse there..." he drawled as he spoke, "... was Ofelia's sister. She's still not over her death." He shrugged as he drove with one hand. "I'm not into meeting families or having family reunions. I made that clear with Ofelia. She went to see her family less and less." He let out a sigh, "That was her choice. She just couldn't stand leaving me alone in the cabin."
Lu gives a small smile at his I'm driving comment. "Maybe you should teach me how to properly drive sometime then" She states before leaning back in her seat, listening to his story about the nurse. "I see.... I suppose I can understand her grief...." She went quiet for a bit, not knowing what to say, if anything when he brought up the topic of Ofelia, knowing it was a very sensitive one. She lets herself out of the truck once they were back home looking around for any sign of whatever shot at Tuck. She was definitely on edge from the incident, wanting to sniff around in her wolf form, but at Tuck's request, she didn't dare shift unless he asked.
"Let's go to bed, little lady." He placed his good arm around her and escorted her into the cabin. "You can come with me to work," he began to change his dirty clothes into cleaner. Since Lu had seen him naked several times when she was a wolf, he imagined she wouldn't mind his changing of clothes before her. He faced the corner to be safe. "I got to tell my boss that I can't work for some time..."
Lupa looked back at the forest, sending a glare it's way for good measure before turning her attention back on Tuck. She let her gaze fall on his back, in her wolf form it had been different. She had no plans of showing him her human form and so there was no chance at a different type of relationship, she never entertained the idea. But now, she felt her cheeks grow warm as a red flush came across them and she quickly turns her gaze away, making her way to the bed to sit down and slip off her shoes. She perked at the idea of going to work with him again before realizing what it was about. "I'm sorry Tuck. I wish they would've hit me instead. Whoever they were... "
"Don't say that, baby girl." He looked at her. She was still wearing her dirty clothes. He pointed at the grocery bags, "I bought you new clothes for a reason." He let out a chuckle, "Don't worry about me now. My boss will probably still help me out while I'm hurtin'." He laid on his bed. Sleeping was going to be awkward with his arm. He liked sleeping on his left side. Oh well... he thought.
"Well that's good. He definitely seems like a decent guy. I'll be glad to see everyone again...and yes I will act like I don't know them." She says before he could and looks over at the clothes and smiles, remembering all the things he got for her today. She makes her way over to the bags, pulling out a white tank top and comfortable green pajama pants. She strips out of her dirty clothes, she wasn't shy about undressing in front of him, she slips on her clothes to sleep in. She makes her way back over to the bed looking at his arm with a frown. She felt guilty at not being able to protect him tonight. "Does it hurt badly?"
Tuck looked up at the ceiling as Lu undressed. Sadly, he had good peripheral vision, so he was getting hot. He needed to take off the covers, but at the same time, he needed it to cover the thoughts he was having. No one needed to know his mind was in the gutter especially not Lu. Finally, she was covered up; Tuck let out a sigh of relief. He was too tired and hurt to be excited like this. He made more space, so Lu could more comfortable on the bed,"I'm fine. Pain will go away." He turned off the lantern in his room and cuddled with Lu. He now rested on his good side with his head in Lu's hair.
Lupa gingerly made her way into bed next to him, not wanting to hurt him anymore than he already was. She soon was fast asleep, enjoying Tuck cuddling up to her. This was much better than curled up at his feet. She woke up a bit after Tuck, hearing him rummage around the cabin. She rolled over and opens her eyes looking over at him. She gets up out of bed, stretching a little before letting her feet touch the floor and smiles since she got to see the guys Tuck worked with again and even though she wished it hadn't happened, she'd be glad to be spending the days he couldn't work with him.
