Back story: Jake has been connected to the paranormal since an early age. He always believed in them since he was a little kid. Naturally, he didn't know that they were real till a while later. When he was 16, he was possessed by an angry spirit. When the spirit left him, he awoke with a strange new sense of the spirit world, as the exorcism was sloppy and not all of the spirit left. This incident caught the eye of the paranormal specialists and they took Jake in. Unlike most who use technology to receive signals, Jake only uses instinct, which he at first was ridiculed for, but then praised for once he proved that it worked.

Personality: Jake doesn't talk very much, and he is a very cold person to be around. Jake doesn't show feeling nor emotion, and he doesn't crack jokes. To him, he's the one responsible for everything, and if something screws up then it is his fault.

Other: Sometimes Jake has strange fits as a side effect of the exorcism, where the leftover part of the spirit tries to take over. This can lead to strange side effects and sometimes losing control of his own body entirely.

Ever since she was a little girl she's been seen as strange. Growing up in an orphanage and being considered both a street rat and a freak must've been hard. However in some instances the dead kept her company and she ended up with few living breathing friends. It took Nat a long time to realise she could use this 'gift', that everyone claimed to be creepy and unnatural, as her profession and hunt down ghosts that caused trouble or mystery. It didn't take her long to earn place among the people that did this and she became well sought after for her tremendous skill. Clawing her way up from street rat to a wealthy woman, but wealth can't buy you everything. She can both see and hear to most spirits depending on type.


Personality:


Nat finds it hard to trust people as she is afraid they'll shun her out as a freak. She comes across as blunt and hostile in her efforts to be alone. But under her ruff cold exterior she is kind. Natalia is a very confidant person and isn't afraid to talk to people, she'd just rather not, but this makes her a good public/group speaker.

  • Her parents were CEO's of an almost bankrupt small business in China. However the company soon began to rise when she was in middle school. Now, the Xiao Corporation is one of the wealthiest business in the world ranging from cars to even children toys. With more wealth she was able to become more invested in her occult hobby.

She became popular among readers with the same interests, enough so a publisher was interested. Backstory: It's a bit shameful how common and boring his background is, in comparison to the rest of the gang. He was born, his parents divorced around his teenage years, he went to college, his mother, who kept him, died from a disease, he dropped out due to lack of funds, his father offered to fund him, he refused, but conceded in moving in with his father at Japan. The only thing particularly distinct about him was that he was born an albino and had a penchant for dying his hair and wearing colored contacts to stick in with the crowd. Unlike the others, he didn't have some strange affinity with ghosts from the minute he was born, nor did he have any personal encounters with anything paranormal. Heck, the occult wasn't even his hobby! No, he was just your average joe, who got roped in to the business from a friend of a friend, who had a group of friends that were into the supernatural business. It was really nothing special. You could even say that he rode on that guy's coattails to stardom, really. Really, he's just a stand-in for the real professional who was supposed to be there.


Personality: In this merry bunch, he's likely going to be one of the, if not the one, who talks the most, considering that everyone else speaks too little or is more focused on the investigation. Joseph is a social individual, one who thrives in cooperation and camaraderie, and honestly finds no problems with trying to understand the others and their circumstances. If there's one thing that stands out about him, it's that he's bizarrely tolerant and patient towards others. He never lets his temper out of control nor does he let the insults and snide remarks get to him. Instead, he continues to work. To make up for his lack of talent and aptitude for this field, he's very hardworking, and tries to achieve more, but he knows when to slink back into the background. Joseph has always known that he was simply an extra in all this. He doesn't need to try and play the protagonist, because, hey, he's expendable material anyway.

Backstory:


Meredith had always dreamed of becoming a police detective. As a child, she enjoyed watching those saturday morning cartoons involving mysteries. As a teenager, she became an investigation nut. Her favorite subjects in high school were chemistry and biology. She was sure they were going to come in handy when she goes through detective training.


Directly after high school, she applied for the town police force. It took her three years but she eventually got promoted and went on to detective training. By twenty six, she was a full-fledged detective for the Police Department.


She adopted a blind bull terrier which they rescued from a drug trafficking syndicate.


Personality:


She’s pretty much a person who loves to joke around but when it comes to her work, she is as serious as death. She does not believe in the paranormal and thinks that everything can be explained with logic. She is one tough cookie. Dead bodies in all states and circumstances do not faze her. Neither is she scared of people whether they be twice her weight and thrice her size. If you attempt to startle her, chances are you either will have a gun down your throat or sprawled on the floor with your hands behind your back. She is one scary lady to mess with. But as long as you keep within the law, she’s the little lady who lives next door you could ask to keep an eye on your pet dog while you’re out of town.


She’s a terribly sentimental young gal. She cries at movies and can’t get enough of romantic comedies. Her friends and family are the most important to her and she would give her life to save theirs.


Her hobbies include hiking, bird watching, and raising carnivorous plants and fish.
