Jack sat back in the chair and sighed a bit and and said," Well I am not sure how long we can last if we don't try and beat this game. I mean we are alive in all, but I think if we take to long we are dead anyway." He then looked in her way and said," I have been thinking that our minds are here, but our bodies are in the real world. How long do we actually have. They may move us to hospitals in time, but how far can their equipment keep us alive when their are other sick patients around.


He then sighed and said," It's just a theory of mine and by the way I don't blame you for not wanting to finish the game. Other people will try, but every one can help." He then smiled at her and sat down beside her and said," and as for your mom tell her that nobody could have seen this coming." He then chuckled.


He then sat their in silence for a moment before saying," I know this is something a solo player wouldn't normally do, but how about we make a party and do some exploring and quest to take our mind off things. I bet not everything in this level has been found. It's just the second day."

 

[Caits]

Suki was silent. No matter what happened, Suki's life would be changed from this experience. They all would. Fighting for you life was one thing. Fighting for it in an game was another. On one front, they fought in the game for survival with their mind, the other they fought for survival with their bodies. He was right. How long could they survive in the real world, on machines? How long could they survive on IV feeding? Technically, she supposed it could be forever, but while they were in hospital, they were susceptible to illness. What would happen if their bodies died in the real world? Would they disappear from here?


She shook her head to get rid of these thoughts, looking to Jack. "I'll do whatever I can to finish the game. But...Have you tried jumping, running up walls? I can climb a building without a rope in this game, and even if I fall, I'm in a safe zone, so I won't die, or be injured. Here..." She shrugged.


When he offered to form a party, Suki looked up and smiled, nodding. "I'd like that" She said, rising again, scooping Cooper into her arms, "Thank you" She said softly

Jack smiled at her and said," Your welcome and yes about the wall running. It's really cool and it has saved me a few times before. He then chuckled and sent her and invite and petted cooper as he said," I know a good hunting spot around here. He then chuckled and said," I will be waiting down stairs if you need me." He then chuckled and left the room.

 

[Caits]

Suki nodded, accepting the party invite, and just taking a few moments to herself wen Jack headed downstairs. She looked down at Cooper. "Well. So far this game is more then I thought it would be" she said with amusement, and headed downstairs, equipping her rapier, and watching Cooper climbed downstairs with amusement. The wolf dog clumsy ran down the stairs, and stopped short of hitting someone when on level ground.


"I'm gonna have to teach you how to climb stairs properly" she decided following him down, and scooping the excited wolf-dog up. She wondered if he would get bigger. He seemed half a pup still.


She ordered some food, looking about for Jack, checking her inventory, and taking out some meat for Cooper as she did so.

Jack was at a tabled and motioned for them to come over and he chuckled as he saw her cuddling Cooper. He then smiled and when she sat down he asked her so," So what do you want to do today?" he had a few ideas, but want to know what she had planned for today.

 

[Caits]

Suki went over to Jack with a smile, setting Copper down when she sat down so he wouldn't try to climb up on the table and cause a mess. Which didn't seem to help. He wriggled and leaped up onto the table seemingly without trouble.


"cheeky" Suki said with a laugh, looking to Jack as he asked what she thought they should do. "Well. We could do a quest or two" She said, "Or train some. What did you do as a beta?" She asked curiously, indulgently petting cooper.

Jack chuckled and said," Well I did what any beta tester did. Try and find out how the game works and everything, but mostly I trained because I wanted to always be sure that I could come out of a battle alive. That strategy seems to be better suited for these circumstances." He then laughed.


As he laughed most people became silent. He hadn't tried to lower his voice so everyone near him heard him and the word spread around the tavern. He sighed as one man that looked slightly over than Jack suddenly stood up and said," So your a beta tester huh? Why haven't you joined a guild and keeping your info to yourself."


Jack sighed and looked at Suki and said," A quest will be find and some training too. " he then smiled and turned around in his chair to face the man and said," Well I am not sure how much I would be worth. Stuff changes after the beta." He then just ignored the mans rambling after that.

 

[Caits]

Suki listened as Jack spoke, figuring that that was probably about right, considering the game itself. Hindsight could sometimes be a pain, but when it worked in your favor, it was the best thing ever.


She looked up as the other players in the inn seemed to catch on or rather hear that Jack was a beta. She spoke up "he doesn't have to join a guild, and if you were so thick headed, you would have realized that you can get a free guidebook from any merchant which is full of information from betas and has just been updated this morning. There now. Don't you feel stupid?" She turned back to Jack as if nothing had happened.


"Excellent! Before we go out I would like to get my rapier fixed, it's durability checked and maybe enhanced somewhat"

Jack chuckled at her and said," Well if you let me see it I could check it for you. I have an appraisal skill and a basic black smithing skill. Before you asked I have those because I thought it would be cheaper to just do the work yourself." He then chuckled and checked his equip.


They didn't need any immediate repairs, but they need to be looked at soon. He then held out his hand and said," I really don't mind doing this. I need all the blacksmith experience I can get." He then quickly changed to his bow as he check his skill to make sure he could check her sword.

 

[Caits]

Suki nodded, taking out her equipment, she laid it out for him to have a look at, "That would be great, thanks" She said with a smile, "I was looking at Alchemy things, and thinking about making health potions myself" She said brightly, leaning back as he went to check her gear over.


She smiled at Cooper when he climbed over the table, and settled into her lap, looking about. "I should learn how to heal him" She said thoughtfully, wondering how she wouldl do that

Jack looked over her equipment and saw that she need some repairs badly and maybe even a new sword. He then sighed and said," Well usually if you point a healing crystal at them it will heal them or if you let the drink a healing potion. There are also some beast that can heal themselves." He then chuckled a bit.


He then handed her equipment back and said," Well I got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that your blade is ok, but is in need of a good bit of repair, but it's durability is low for someone of your level. I would suggest buying some equipment or just repair it and we can go search for the materials I need to make some new stuff.

 

[Caits]

Suki looked to Cooper thinking, wondering what he would be capable off, and what they would be capable of together. She smiled brightly, and petted him.


She looked up as Jack told her about her gear. She thought for a few moments. "We can go to the blacksmith and have them fix my gear-it might take a while to find the materials for you to fix it, and I'd rather not have to fight with dodgy gear to Find the materials"

Jack smiled and said," Seems like a good idea their is an NPC owned blacksmith shop nearby. They have fair prices, but the personality a.i that control's the own is so annoying." He then chuckled and paid for his breakfast and asked," So you ready to get out of here?"

 

[Caits]

Suki nodded, and rose, Cooper staying by her side, "Right, blacksmith first, even if it is annoying" She said with a smile, as she found the blacksmith, she took out her gear to have it repaired.


The blacksmith, going by the name Sasamuru, a big guy, but friendly enough, said it would be twenty minutes until her gear was ready, so Suki suggested they go to get some supplies.

Jack nodded and walked out of the shop with here and chuckled as he saw the whole town bustling and hustling. It was just like his town back in the real world. He then smiled and said," Well let get going." He then lead her to the market where he stocked up on his arrows and looked to see if they had any healing crystals. Luckily they had a few more left in stock so he bought them before turning to Suki and smiled as he saids," Well have you got everything you need? I got all my stuff." He then petted cooper and looked around.

 

[Caits]

Suki examined what was available in the market, examining some throwing knives, and buy ten, as well as some health potions, and deliberated over some light weight armor, but paused, frowning. She was aware that Jack was finished, but she lingered, wanting to make sure that she had the best of what she needed.


It got so that by the time she was finished, they were running late to pick up her gear from the blacksmith. she apoligised to Jack, and nodded, "I'm ready, lets head back!" She led the way back. When they got there, the blacksmith was in a state of panic. Suki asked what was wrong.


"Hina! My daughter is missing! She's in the forest!" The black smith replied, and to Suki's shock, a quest notification popped up.


Quest Notification:


Description


Upon visiting the Horunka Village there is a chance that when repairing some items, Sasamaru, the NPC blacksmith, will ask for a favor and will throw in a free enhancement, depending on what has happened to the weapon. It appears he wants help finding his daughter who is lost in the forest nearby.


Pre-requisites


- An equipment that has been over used (Note: Depending on the equipment and the way it was used will change the free enhancement)


- The equipment above has an enhancement slot


- Be level 5 or above.


- Slay at least one Little Nepent with fruit on it's head and survive the oncoming hoarde or escape


Activation


- Get the equipment repaired


- Come back to the Sasamaru more than 10 minutes after the amount of time it would take to repair the item (to give it time to be enhanced)


(Note: if you do not accept the quest, the durability of the item is reduced as Sasamaru did a bad job)


Conditions to clear


- Find Sasamaru's daughter, Hina


- Defeat the Large Nepents surrounding Hina (five of them that are level 5 and one more level 7 Large Nepent with a flower on it's head that appears afterwards.)


- Bring the daughter back to Sasamaru

Suki looked to Jack, "What do you think?"

Jack studied the the quest for a moment and said," It is a pretty good quest for being on the first level, but you need some weapons and equipment. You won't be able to use what he is repairing. So that means you need to use some other equipment, but either way I would say we should accept." He then hit the accept button and sasamaru smiled and thanked them. He then looked at Suki and said," So now you need to use some old or get some other equipment and we can work out the rewards later." He then chuckled and said," I'll wait outside the town gate." He then patted her shoulder as he walked passed her and head out of the shop. As he did he thought he saw a shadow disappear into a back alley. He then just shrugged and kept walking.

 

[Caits]

Suki nodded, content and pleased to take the shift, excited to be able to do this quest. She said goodbye to Sasamaru, pleased to be polite to the NPC, and set off. Her rapier was a good weapon, and it would be hard to find its equal, so she just brought a replacement rapier that she could discard after the quest, and together with Cooper went to the town gate.


She wondered if she could commission some light weight armor for Cooper, and resolved to look that up later. She spied Jack, and said, "The forest is this way" She smiled, "Ready?"

Jack was leaning on the wall to the gate to the right and was just thinking to himself when he heard Suki talks to him. He then smiled and looked over at her with a spark in his eyes and said," You know I am." He then equipped his bow and said," I'll attack first since I have the better equipment." He then chuckled and slowly began to walk through the forest with a arrow notched. It looked like her was hunting. He then quietly said," Ok you need to stay quiet. We don't want to startle them."

 

[Caits]

Suki nodded, kneeling down, and saying to Cooper, "be very quite. Like you were when I met you. As if you're hunting okay?" She smiled petted him, and stood up, stretching, and equipping her Rapier.


The first sign of monsters they came across was One Large nepent, with three small Nepents. She studied them, and looked about, searching for anymore, but for now, it just seemed to be the four Nepents.

Jack was crouched looking from behind a tree and tapped Suki on her shoulder and put a finger to his lips and picked up a rock and threw it in front of the Nepents and when their hands were turned he drew back his bow and let an arrow fly hitting the big one and killing it. He then picked off another then motioned for Suki to attack.

 

[Caits]

Suki waited motionless, as Jack attacked the big Nepent. Cooper stayed by her side, silent, when Jack indicated for her to attack, she began to move, activating her sprint skill, Cooper at her side, still deathly silent.


As Cooper Attacked one Nepent, Suki Attacked another. She kept an eye on Cooper, but he seemed to hold his own. Soon enough, Suki had killed her Nepent and went to help Cooper

Jack smiled at the two and then began to climb the tree and to just high enough to where he could see Suki and anything else. It was a natural sniping point. They had caused some commotion while fighting. He could see a little girl surrounded by the Nepents. He saw the big one with the flower on its head. They were coming towards them. He then shouted down," Suki I can see the girl, but the Nepents are coming. You go after the girl and I will take care of the rest." He then equipped his sword and jumped down behind Suki and touched her shoulder. He then said," Go now Just as the Nepents attack. He then began to fight and keep them off of Suki.

 

[Caits]

As Suki and Cooper finished off the little Nepents, she looked up and nodddd to Jack, "alright, but you can't fight so many large Nepents by yourself" she said, as she darted to check on the NPC Girl, telling Hina that it would be alright. After making sure she was okay, Suki turned back to help face the Nepents.


She avoided the one with the fruit on it's head, slightly worried about that one and together with Cooper Attacked a Large Nepent, slowly bringing nits health down

Jack grinned and when Suki had Hina he smiled and said," Ok you guys get moving back to town and stop at the gates. I will slow these guys down." He then made them run towards town with cooper following. He re equipped his bow and began to fall back towards town as he fired at the Nepents. He then ran when it was just the one with the fruit on its head.
