Saga of the Seven Sins - The Second Cycle

I'm not sure what I can tell you about my sheet that isn't already in my background and write-up. With different SMAs, we can diversify our talents quite a bit. I plan on adding to my library of styles by picking up VBoS eventually, while increasing my skills and attributes. Basically, I guess I'm saying that I have no problem with having a second Sidereal in the bunch. What Caste are you looking at?

I'm wanting to take a shot at Battles. Thankfully the Melee magic can be applied fairly broadly for Sidereals. If for some reason I can't get that build to work, Journeys.

I went with Endings. Gold or Bronze? I was Bronze before going Independent, and now I'm looking for a new direction to go with.

I'm probably going with being loosely affiliated with Gold faction. I find it hard to play a Bronze faction character as a player, the setting and materials just makes their ideals seem to unravel themselves. Though, with Battles being one of the staunchest Bronze Faction divisions I think the amount of shit the character would get from his peers would be very amusing.

It will be interesting to see how the two of us deal with each other.

You know, I'm wondering if its okay to allow the solaroids to have more charms. Right now even though I was trying to be fair to the other types of Exalts, 35 charms is kind of a rip off. Is everyone okay with me raising the charm cap for solaroids? I want to get everyone's opinion on this.

Maybe 5 more for them would be ok in my book.

I... don't think I'm capable of being unbiased on that answer, but I'm obviously okay with it. ;)

I was just thinking "man, Lunars OP in this game" today at work though. :P

Nah lunars don't have access to key features that make solars dominate.

As a solar you can take:

Thunderbolt Attack Prana (Athletics)- works with any combat ability, doubles post soak damage

One Weapon Two Blows (Melee) - works with martial arts also, repeat damage steps of an attack

Solar Hero Form (Solar Hero Style) - Add MA to Soaks, 1m to make threshold attack successes add 2 to damage pool

Orichalcum Fists of Battle (Solar Hero Style - Extension) - Multiply Strength by Essence for purposes of damage for the scene

Adamantine Fists of Battle (Solar Hero Style - Extension) - Add twice Essence rating in levels of damage to all martial arts attacks for the scene, can choose lethal or bashing on activation

*Grave Cut (Even Blade Style) - double rolled successes for damage

*Flying Mantis Kick (Mantis Style) - Double threshold attack successes for adding to damage pool

*Falling Scythe Flash (White Reaper Style) - Double Strength for purposes of dealing damage

*Death From Nowhere Method (Crystal Chameleon Style) - Double damage applied in step 10

*-Available to non-Solars

Suffice to say, the end combo damage output is retarded and most of the pieces to this puzzle are exclusive to Solars. Though, the advantage of Lunars is they can do a little of everything for not a lot of investment. Worth it? Probably not, in my opinion.

As for the 5 extra charms, I'm kinda on the fence. Though,Lunar and Sidereal charms can be applied much more broadly, in general. It should be alright to help them cover their bases.

But the rest of the Exalts are unchanged, correct?

Working on the charm list and this is kinda silly. So, Throne Shadow style has a charm from ink monkeys that would let me teach martial arts charms I don't even know within the span of a scene as long as the character has seen them used on 5 separate occasions. I could grab this easily enough, but I kind of want to gauge party interest in this dynamic.

Throne Shadow Style is a bit of an exercise in directing others. However, it goes a long way to make the party as a whole more awesome. Like the counterattack that has every "shadow finger" ally attack simultaneously in response to an attack. It also lets me count the shadow fingers attacks as my own Unarmed Attacks for supplementing them with my own martial arts charms.

I looked at that style, but it did not personally appeal to me. My concern with that style here is, you will be dealing with several high Essence Exalts of various types that may not have the same ideas as you about working together. Ego can get in the way. I would hope that everyone could work well as one, but I somehow doubt it.

It's for those reasons I bothered to ask in the first place. Especially if half the group is considering shadier Exalt types, acting pretty much like a Sifu to them would have numerous issues. Perhaps I should just consider one of the virtue styles as my Celestial choice.

Viktor certainly wouldn't object to being able to learn Martial Arts charms, or even more so, having his DB minions learn CMAs, and certainly wouldn't see it as corrupting you (or care). He cares little for one's Exaltation type, and more for whether they support him.

It's completely your call, though. If not, I've got plenty of Baal-Shazash, Malfeas, and SWLiHN Charms to keep me busy for quite a while.

Also: THANK YOU SEEKER! I feel slightly less constrained now. :)

After discovering the charm that lets you add form weapons to a style, many options have just presented themselves. For those curious it is called Master's Hand Envisioned Anew on page 157 of Lords of Creation in Saibok Gauto's write up. and there are versions of it available for Terrestrial, Celestial, and Sidereal Styles. That said I do still like some of the goodies/expansions to Throne Shadow, so I may still keep it.

I was not aware of that Charm. I'll have to check it out, but it sounds cool.

Ah, for some reason this thread wasn't notifying me of updates. Yes, @WarDragon , I'd love to be bonded to Viktor. The custom Charm options and story opportunities there sound amazing. I totally want to make my pocket dimension the moon of your pocket dimension, and add the ability to step out of your pocket dimension to end up beside you anywhere in Creation.

I'll be the most difficult to get along with barring the Abyssal, as I have serious Sidereal trust issues and will probably spend more time 'protecting' Viktor from you two and ensuring neither of you has a moment alone with the Sins than I do actually assisting with the quest to find them. I think it would be entertaining if one or both of you had fought me before - could be anywhere, but maybe you noticed that bound demons don't typically take an inexplicable interest in secret Sidereal experiments at the Heptagram and kicked me out, or I arrived at the conflux of a major Astrological project to meddle and a fight broke out, etc. My Compassion ensures I don't aim to kill, just disrupt, foil, and incapacitate, (I often opt to do bashing only and it doesn't roll over to lethal) and in true Lunar fashion I'm absurdly survivable, so we could easily have fought several times without either of us being grievously injured.

If there were one of the Sidereals that have crossed your path, I'm guessing it would have been me. I was in the Bronze Faction for many years before starting to realize that things in Creation are not going as well as the Bronze would have everyone believe. That would make for some very interesting group dynamics until such time as we learn that we can get along without killing each other.

Sounds awesome. I don't have the pocket-dimension charm yet, but I can shoot for it! What say we first met in Raksi's domain, while I was on a mission from the Yozis, and were reunited just recently? Unless you're cool with tagging along to Hell before I openly split from the Reclamation, of course.

What kind of relationship are you picturing? Viktor's probably reluctant to jump right into romance again so soon, having been burned so recently.

Heh. Last time, I pegged Sherwood's Lunar as the most dangerous character in the group. Let's see if another Lunar takes it this time...

We can't have met in Raksi's domain - I haven't been there for over two centuries, which is long before you Exalted. We certainly may have met in Hell, as I've spent some time there. At Solar Bond 3 (I may consider 5 for fun, though) she's (Assuming Viktor swings that way, otherwise very promptly he. Currently it's a 'she' decade.) going to be very affectionate and probably spend a lot of time following you around. If you're reluctant to reciprocate, she can either bide her time knowing she has thousands of years to bring you around, or she can redouble her efforts for the comedic value of unrequited love, completely up to you. Either way, when she finds you she won't let a triviality like Hell stand between her and her love, so either we recently met in Hell, or we meet for the first time at the start of the campaign.

Heh heh. That works as well. (And yes, she. Possibly both ways, but with a definite preference for females).

The only reason he'd be reluctant is that he was... either married, or seriously involved with a fellow Infernal at the time you met, and at game start, only recently got done avenging her death (a task at which he would have accepted aid).

Wow, where can I get a Green Iron Heart? That thing is insanely good. The 4 dot Solar Hearthstone for Appearance isn't even half that nice.

I'm going to have a tough time explaining why Opal dispassionately noted you exist and otherwise kept herself to polite chit-chat for a decade. She's Temperance 1 and Solar Bond 3, so either she was frantically hunting every Sidereal responsible for any Astrology affecting you (She will definitely do that), or she was doing something absurdly important in Hell and not even you could tear her away from it. Maybe she was just secretly stalking you in the guise of a series of first and second circle demons? That seems unnecessarily duplicitous.
