RWBY: Old Rites (In Character)

Hizo let out a sigh as he thought, 'Wonder who will be in my team. Oh well.' Hizo began to stretch, and crack his knuckles. Hizo then cracked his neck, and after cracking his neck he looked up to see a guy that was a couple of years older than him approach him. "Sup." Hizo responded with as he felt the airship finally landing, and he let out a sigh of relief. "I'm Hizoruka. Hizoruka Tirugazo. You can call me Hizo." Hizo said to introduce himself as he stood up, and extended his arm out towards the older man. Hizo was listening to Ozpin's speech as he was introducing himself, and he sighed with concern.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

(Before getting off the airship)Pewter accepts his hand and shakes it "The names Pewter Faraday, call me whatever you feel like. Well looks like this is where we get off, see you around Hizo." Pewter says before making his way off the airship.

(After Pewter exited the Auditorium) Pewter stretched his arms above his head "AH! It feels so good to be outside again." The trip had taken a lot longer than he expected and the immediate assembly made it take even longer, but now he was free and could let off a little 'steam' without worrying about hurting others, being in a large metal box in the sky is pretty dangerous if he isn't careful. He looked around for a nice secluded area eventually finding a place where no one was and started adjusting his arm brace.

Hizo watched Pewter walk away, and Hizo shrugged as he began walking out of the airship.

Hizo walked out of the auditorium, and stretched since he had the space of doing so. He smiled as he looked at the sky, thinking of the whole reason why he got to Beacon in the first place. Hizo laughed a bit, and began walking around, hoping to find a place to sit down. He found a bench under the trees, and he sat down to hopefully relax for a while. Hizo was so relaxed that he slowly began to fall asleep on the bench.

After messing with the brace for a couple of minutes he feels it loosen slightly, satisfied he reaches out his hands and places them about a foot apart and watching silver electricity leap back and forth between his hands. The feeling of electricity running across his skin relaxed him and made him feel powerful. After a couple of minutes he stopped and reached into his back pack pulling out a light bulb, tossing it between his hands as it stayed light up from the electricity around him.

After disembarking the airship Joshua filed into the auditorium like everyone else, but due to his height, it seemed that he was looking over the sea of his classmen except for a handful of people within the crowd who were either as tall or taller than him. However, Joshua was not expecting the sea of knights flanking their queen. It was a scene straight out of one of his fantasy books as she spoke about unity between the two kingdoms and the hope to build their own version of Beacon. A noble goal it was indeed, but it would take time and money unfortunately. "At that point it seems probable that you have reached your own goal," Ryuu's voice echoed within his head as he began to think about the knights. The only problem was that while it seemed that Joshua had reached his goal, he in fact had not. Joshua wasn't even close to reaching his own goal actually. At this point, a particular set of words echoed in his head that someone had spoken to him, "Hypocratic Oath My ass! Protecting those who can't protect themselves is a huntsman's job, regardless of medicine or not."

Ignacia skipped out of the auditorium stretching her arms out in front of the building, looking around to see if she could find anyone she recognized. She was barely paying attention during the Ozpin's speech, and she definitely needed to be caught up on what was happening. She leaned against the wall flicking a flame on and off in her palm to amuse herself. Agnes and Mocha walked out side by side, in a regimented pattern. The two of them conversing lightly over their plans for the rest of the day. Ignacia took notice of them, and extinguished the small flare and stuffed her hands in her front pockets. Strolling over to her two friends. "Oy, fancy meetin' you here.

Mocha waved at her, "Indeed it is."

"Mmm? Were you waiting for us?" Agnes smirked

"Wh-what? 'Course not. Not fer a m'llion years." She mumbled. "A-Anywho! What're we s'pose to do now? I kinda-"

"Fell asleep?" Agnes interjected.

"Bingo." Ignacia gave her the finger guns.

Agnes sighed, "Professor Ozpin told us that we were in need of direction and that Beacon will help us. Anyways, a guest speaker appeared, the queen of Abarat. Said that she needed help to create an academy in Abarat and we were dismissed. Also, we have to get set up for the night in the ball room."

Ignacia's face lighted up at the mention of queens, "woah real royalty? Like in fairytales 'n' stuff? Can'ya even believe that we were in t'e same room as a QUEEN?

Agnes sighed, "Well, I can believe it because I wasn't asleep."

Mocha looked down at her scroll, checking for any updates, noticing the time, she tapped them both on the shoulder. "We should really start moving. I'd prefer if we weren't sleeping in the middle of the room. Being in the center makes me nervous."

"Right, let's go. Maybe we'll find someone we know there already?" Agnes grinned, already on route to the ball room.

The two others quickly catching up and following closely behind.

@(Idk, just filler dialogue really. Not really directed to anyone.)

Satisfied with his personal display of power he put the lightbulb away and fixed his arm brace to be nice and tight again. Grabbing his bag he made his way back out of his isolation and into the courtyard. After wandering around for a bit trying to get his bearings of the place he noticed a familiar kid laying down on a bench under the trees. He quitely approached Hizo and kicked the bench "Sleeping out in the open could be hazardous to you health you know."

Joshua trudged over to the ballroom to start to set up for the night, though it was a bit out of the ordinary, having guys and girls share one giant room en masse. Still, he had no doubts that he'd have to share a team room with at least one girl, if he was lucky. Finding a nice spot along the wall, he started to set his bed up so that his head could rest on the pillow when he would eventually fall asleep tonight. While he continued to set up, his mind drifted back to the knights and their queen.

            Tensing at the thought of a queen being at her school and even observing her, Ryuuko took her scroll out to discuss about this with her family. It took quite a while to respond to all their messages, but she caught up in time. Afterwards, Ryuuko’s father called her. The screen flickered to an image of an aging man with a stern expression.

            “Ryuuko, I expect you to work your hardest. This is not an opportunity that happens often.”

            “I know, father. I assure you that I am skilled enough to impress even royalty.”

            But she didn’t believe herself.

            “Good. Make sure it stays that way.” A smile appeared on her father’s face. “…Enough talk of that, however. How is your day at Beacon faring?”

            “Rather well, much to my surprise,” Ryuuko said, relaxing slightly. “I believe I have made quite a bit of friends, which is a fortune that I did not expect. However, I…” She sighed, about to talk about how worried she was on how long these friendships would last. All it took was her last name to ruin everything. People would either treat her as a walking bragging right, spread rumors about her, or avoid her because she was “out of their league”. But Ryuuko felt like her father wouldn’t care about that. “…never mind. I shall speak to you at a later time.”

            “Understood. I will tell your mother about everything when she gets back. Make us proud.”

The screen faded to black and Ryuuko sighed. Though Ryuuko considered herself to be an optimist, she…wasn’t feeling like things were going to work out. Even her own team would probably distance themselves from her. Sitting near the wall away from most of her classmates, it was almost funny how she could feel alone in a crowd. Look at all those hopeful faces. Now look at her…she was moping. Shaking her head, she laughed quietly. “…I really am as pathetic as they think I am.” These hushed words weren’t directed to anyone in particular, more like thoughts that were spoken accidentally, but they were out in the open.

Hizo enjoyed the breeze as he slept, and he smiled once he actually put himself. He then felt the force of the bench, and he suddenly woke up to hear a familiar voice. "Huh?... Who there?... Momma Bear?" Hizo said as he looked up to see Pewter, and he suddenly sat up. "Oh! H-Hey Pewter!... I didn't know about that...." Hizo said as he looked away, and rubbed his head out of embarrassment.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

Ignacia popped through the door of the ball room clad in her overall pajamas with a mattress held firmly over her head. "Ova there! Target in sight!" Yelling while gesturing at a spot on the wall next to Joshua. She then threw the mattresess at the wall, creating 3 large clapping sounds as they impacted the floor. Suddenly Agnes and Mocha popped out of the door in their pajamas, both clothed in military-esque black tank tops and camo sweatpants. "Hey Ignacia. Some people are already sleeping." Agnes put a finger to her lips, whispering with an angry tone.

Ignacia was bobbing up and down, throwing fists into the air, and prancing around the floor. "Enh. It don't matta." She shrugged, and roundhouse kicked the air, using the momentum to throw herself at the mattress, flopping down right beside Joshua.

"Oh heey, how's it going there?"

Pewter let out a laugh at Hizo's panic, he didn't mean to surprise the kid like that, well who's he kidding that was his plan... "Momma bear? Who's that?" Pewter continued to chuckle a little "And if you are tired I would recommend heading to the Ballroom. Don't know who or what is going to sneak up on you when out in the open, just look at what just happened"

@GeoMancy

Joshua had finished setting up a mattress and was beginning to take off his shirt exposing his pectorals when all of a sudden, 3 loud *THUNK*s impacted the wall next to him. While his head was still in his shirt, Joshua had no idea what was going on so he took off his shirt completely and then looked to his left to see a young woman greeting him. "Oh hey I remember you, you're one of the people I met on the airship."

Hizo then heard Pewter's comment about who was Momma Bear, and he blushed very hard. "Th-That's no one... Don't worry." Hizo says nervously as he notices Pewter laugh a bit. He sighed as he heard Pewter, and he said, "Eh... I really don't want to. I am not used to sleeping with others..." Hizo rubbed his arm in embarrassment, and looked towards the ball room.

"You're practically sleeping with the whole world out here." Pewter stopped chuckling as he brought up his dislike of the sleeping arrangement "And you will have to face the music some time, where do you expect to sleep tonight, and heck the rest of the year? You do know how the dorms work here?" he says as he lazily adjusts his arm brace to a more comfortable position.

"That so?" Ignacia rolled onto her back, pressing her temples to see if she could remember his name. "Ehmmm, yer name is Josh? Ey?

However, before he could be given a chance to reply. Agnes crouched down beside her, "Igna, you're lucky no one seemed to care about your noise, but still. Be more careful."

Ignacia rested her head on her hands, crossing her legs. "Yeh yeh, I'll be careful." She said with a hint of sarcasm.

Agnes scratched the back of her head. "Whatever, knowing you, you'll probably forget what happened today.

Whilst the two bickered Mocha kneeled down on the ground, her mechanical legs scratching the floor. "I'm so sorry if she disturbed you!" She fussed, bowing her head down multiple times.

"Well it sounds like you were set for this life indeed." Lyrika commented upon hearing about Cup's parents. He huntress for a mother and a father that provided gear for hunters; a match made in heaven as far as getting into this business went. Not to mention he apparently grew up surrounded by other hunters. "All my father does is paint; he didn't even want me to be a huntress at first. Must have been-"

It was at that moment that Lyrika heard the announcement of the airship's arrival at Beacon. "Ah, it seems we've arrived at the academy. We would best be getting on our way, yes? It was nice to meet you, Cup. I hope you succeed as a hunter. Bye!" With that, she turned to leave with the crowds that were disembarking from the ship.

@randomizedrp

Finally, it was time for them to attend their first event as prospective students of Beacon Academy. None other than the headmaster had come out to greet them. Around the event appeared to be a strange lot; seemingly archaic knights in armor, as though this were centuries earlier. As Ozpin's speech progressed, they revealed that they had a special guest. Apparently the queen of Abarat here to observe them. Lyrika had heard bits and pieces about Abarat, mostly that they were considered a backwards people that knew little of technology. She did not know much else, so it was curious to see the foreign queen and her entourage at this event. She had to wonder what would come of this. Chances were though that the queen would spend most of her time away from the bulk of the students, so Lyrika didn't imagine she would get the chance to meet her. Maybe if her father visited, his clout in Vale could arrange a meeting. But she wasn't going to pester him just for the chance to meet this queen.

With the introduction speech over, Lyrika exited the auditorium like the others. Lyrika was excited to begin life as a student, but it seemed they were once again in a lull of activity. With everyone waiting in and around the hall, it appeared to be the perfect opportunity to strike up another conversation. Lyrika wouldn't have minded finding Cup again, but with all the people around, she wasn't sure she would find him without a dedicated search. On top of that, she did feel she should try to meet more than one person today.

Using the same method as before, Lyrika made up her mind to engage someone randomly in conversation. As she scanned the crowds yet again, she picked out a girl who had distanced herself from the rest. Perhaps she was hesitant to converse with others herself? If that was the case, it gave the two of them something in common. Deciding to take a chance once more, Lyrika approached this girl.

"Ah, hello there! I hope I'm not being too forward, but I hoped I might strike up a conversation with you. Do you mind if I ask your name?"

@Danchou Tsubomi

“Oh, it is no problem. My name is Ryuuko, though if you wish to speak informally, I would not mind being called Ryuu and—ah, if I’m not mistaken, you are the daughter of Mr. Kastano? My father and mother are huge fans of his works.” A smile formed quickly on her face, despite the fact that a part of her was panicking. Someone like her would likely know who she was. Since they were close in class, it was probably not going to elicit a very excited reaction. It might even be nice to have a friend with a similar background to hers. “I apologize, since I do not recall your first name. Er, just a small request, but if you are aware of my family name, please refrain from using it, for it can make things a bit difficult for me. It is probably futile for me to keep going unnoticed…h-however, please let me delay the inevitable as long as possible.”

Lyrika was surprised that she picked out someone that knew of her and her family. Certainly the Kastano family has some fame, but she did not. This girl had to be somewhat well connected. "Ryuuko....oh yes! You're a-" She would have finished, had it not been for Ryuuko's request to keep her family name a secret. "You're...one of them. Yeah. I know...them." It felt awkward referring to her family as if they were some unmentionable group, but she wasn't about to let her secret slip if she could help it. "I'm Lyrika, by the way. As you said, daughter of the current Kastano patriarch." Lyrika had no qualms about her heritage being known. She did not fully understand why anyone would need to hide their connections, but she wouldn't question Ryuuko's reasons. "I didn't expect to meet anyone that would pick me out as a Kastano off the bat. My father's paintings are famous, but I have no such claim to fame." Her career as a poet had been cut short when she manifested her semblance, and her only original pieces of work had only ever been performed in front of her family. Thinking on her poetry, she was reminded of why she knew the name Shirogane well.

"Oh! I remember, the....there's a certain group that produced some works I'm familiar with." She hoped she was being subtle enough to avoid giving away Ryuuko's identity while also clear enough on the fact she was talking about the Shirogane family. "Perhaps not something anyone would know them for now, but I learned their works when I was young. Their poetry was perhaps one of the reasons I came here; nothing quite compares to the lyrical mastery of "Charge of the Hardy Hunters". I preformed that one in public once, you know. It's a pity it wasn't so well received. Perhaps it was my delivery? I feel awful for not doing it justice. I-" She stopped herself, realising she had done two things wrong here; she had started rambling about poetry to someone that probably didn't care, and she had revealed the fact that she was big on poetry, which was something she had hoped to keep to herself. "Oh my, I didn't mean to waffle on like that. It's, um, just a passion of mine, and I can get carried away easily. Forgive me." Her face had gone beet red. This was not a good start to her career as a huntress. She only hoped Ryuuko wasn't the type to gossip.

Zion Waters

Arabat. His father had told him some things about the place but he was so young he could barely remember. His eyes narrowed as he listened to the Queen speak. He might've not remembered what his father had told him, but he has read a lot and if he was correct, Arabat was not interested in advanced technology so why would their queen be there. The next one was the excessive amount of guards; unless they didn't trust Ozpin directly. When she finished talking, his eyes shifted towards Ozpin and he clenched his fists in frustration. You might be busy now, but I'll get the information I need from you. He relaxed as the knights filed out and realized that Kija's side was making me aggravated. He turned around as soon as they were dismissed and began speed walking, which ended in a light jog towards the main foyer of Beacon Academy.

He laughed loudly as he pressed his palms against the picture of his mother. Her face became refreshed in his mind and many memories flooded his thoughts. In the center there was a large portrait of her with a full picture of Team RAGE on both sides of her which made him frustrated. "They kept those pictures. They killed her" Zion said, raising his voice getting a few looks but he didn't care. He leaned in closer and took in the looks of the remaining members of RAGE and nodded, now satisfied that their appearances were fresh in his mind when he went on his hunt for them. While he was on the subject, he remembered that a member of the Kohlrabenschwarzhttps://www.rpnation.com/topic/256422-grau-kohlrabenschwarz/ family was attending Beacon this year, which would prove useful because of their well known skills for hunting which is exactly what he would need. He kissed his two fingertips and placed them on his mother's picture and made his way to where they were supposed to sleep that night.

He pushed the doors wide open as he walked in the large room. It seemed that it would be used for party or dance occasions. Most people were already falling deep in sleep or in their pajamas. Zion was comfortable with doing so until the eams were complete. He currently found everyone an enemy as he didn't know who he would be teamed up with. He wasn't tired either, but it would be a good idea if he wanted to be as energetic as possible tomorrow. He looked across the room and found a spot near some girls with white hair which he found really interesting. As h made his way closer, he saw one of them had a tail which made him stopped for a second and almost trip. He fixed himself up quickly looking around to see if anyone saw, which gladly they did not. He wasn't really sure what happened but it didn't make him feel nice. He felt warm. Zion placed himself an extra meter away for precaution and closed his eyes, sitting crossed-legged. His spear was placed in front of him and he flexed his wrist and Yona was summoned. The Being sat facing his master with one knee on the ground and his head bent down. It was always interesting when he saw Yona, he was always doing his own thing and Zion still hadn't figured out why he didn't like talking.

"Yona... sit over there and wake me up five minutes before we are supposed to get up for exams tomorrow. Also, make sure no one plays any ridiculous pranks on me." The Being nodded and turned into a sphere of blackness a meter or two floating in front of Zion. Zion nodded, now satisfied and closed his eyes to sleep, which in the back of his head he knew wouldn't last long.

Koamaru found a place against the wall to lean on and observe the room. Ozpin had dismissed them and allowed free roaming around the school, but it appeared that this would be their home for the night. He figured it was probably some tradition from when the school didn't have as many dorms as they did now. For whatever reason, there were a lot of students packed into one room for the night. The crowd didn't bother him. The fact that he forgot to being anything to sleep on was somewhat troublesome.

He hadn't actually forgotten. It was more that he didn't know what to expect and therefore didn't prepare anything specifically for having to rough it in the ball room. As uncomfortable as it was going to be, he still had a plan for the night. He used to do this with a jacket made to keep out the cold, but his dress jacket would do fine for now. The room was at least sewhat temperature controlled unlike the backstreets of Vale.

Koamaru slipped his coat off his shoulders and draped it over his upper half as he slowly slid down the wall to a sitting position. earlier, he had elected to hold the coat over his shoulder in an attempt to remain as casual as possible. When Ozpin gave his address, it seemed a bit more appropriate to put i back on. The fact that there was an entourage of knights also prompted the change of wardrobe. Someone extremely important had to be present for that kind of security to be present.

While Koamaru had expected something more along the lines of a travelling show or some kind of festival, he was was happily surprised to see a queen instead. He was then unhappily surprised when her knights threatened Ozpin as well as the students over a matter of courtesy. He was glad to have been on the insidr of the crowd and less noticeable than most in that moment. His hand had instinctively gripped his weapon inside his jacket and he had fully intended to pull it if any spear dropped a hair lower. Thankfully the queen seemed more gracious than her bodyguards and he was able to relax his position.

Pulling a weapon in the presence of a visiting queen surely would have caused an incident and ended his time at Beacon prematurely. While he enjoyed his work as a private investigator and intended never to go back to the plans of his younger self, he still felt there would be more to life than looking for stray cats or solving the mystery of the boyfriend who hasn't called back for the 3rd time in a week.

Lost in his own pondering, Koamaru drifted in and out of consciousness until finally stopping in a somewhat meditative state. He was fully awake and aware, but his body was resting. He listened to the chatter of students around the ballroom and picked up small pieces of conversation here and there. He noted a few things about rumors and speculations and continued listening for anything else interesting.

Wanting to avoid most of the crowd, Grey stuck towards the walls of the ballroom. There was certainly a lot of interesting faces arriving here with him, he thought to himself as he sat himself down and setting his guitar/weapon beside him. Despite wanting to meet and get to know quite a few of these people, he wasn't exactly the best when it came to social interaction. For now he decided to keep reading his music theory book.

Joshua was about to respond to "Igna" as the young woman was called, but then was interrupted by another woman, who seemed to have some familiarity with her. A third woman with robotic legs began to apologize for disturbing him, but Joshua simply waved his right hand away from his head with a "Psh, the two of them really didn't disturb me anyway, so don't worry about it.

"I'm glad to hear that." Mocha sighed with relief. Then walking over to a mattress behind Ignacia and sitting down on it.

Ignacia sat up on her mattress, observing Joshua. Suddenly, she grinned, "Ey Josh-lad, you been working out?" she then pointed at his stomach. "Can I take a swig from yer eight pack? Heh, get it?"

Agnes's brow furrowed, she dropped her arm down onto Ignacia whacking her upside the head, "Hey. Don't objectify people.

"Owow, tch... I'm jus' playin' a little. No harm done." She rubbed the top of her head. "Also, yer arms are metal. Watch your force, coulda knocked me out er somethi..ng..." Ignacia lost her train of thought, watching as a male student with black hair summoned a being with, three tails? She looked at her own tails, comparing them. However, the three tailed figure transformed into a black orb. Astonished she yelled, "Oy you over there!" She stood up pointing with her index finger. "What was that? Whaddya just do?"

Mocha face palmed, Ignacia why are you so confrontational?

@Brook @Clockwork Syringe

"Hmm... I guess you do..." Adrian muttered before turning away from Varien to stare out the window. A random thought entered her head but she figured that it would be rude to do that. She watched Varien's body language, crossed arms, not a very friendly gesture but that's all she had to follow on due to his helmet hiding his face. But at least he's nice enough to ask for her name.

"My name is Ma-... My name is Adrian. Adrian Cuthbertson. I guess it was nice meeting you... I guess?" She simply replied before walking away to stare out the window as the airship approached Beacon. She could only stare with childish delight at the sheer size of the place as the airship landed. With an extra pep in her step, she exited the airship and looked around at the crowd and the wide blue sky. Having been confined for almost the entirety of her life, crowds of people socializing and the wide blue sky still amazed her. Still, she was rather unnerved by the huge amount of people and decided to quickly make her way to the auditorium.

Once there, she settled into an empty seat by the side and quietly waited for the speech to begin, staring at a nearby knight with curiosity. It took her awhile to realize that there was a real person inside the suit when his arm shifted slightly. Upon realizing this, she was rather happy to see a real life knight in shining armour and fancied herself as being among their ranks... Or maybe perhaps being rescued by one? Either way, her musing came to an end when Professor Ozpin took to the stage and begun his welcome speech. Adrian listened to the speech eagerly and was rather excited about the additional one given by a Lady Haiqin Yan. It was especially interesting to Adrian due to the fact that she came from Arabat, a rather dangerous place and she was eager to hear her speech. Thus she was disappointed with the Queen's short speech.

Later in the ballroom, Adrian immediately headed off to secure a quiet corner for her sleeping area and settled in. She removed her armor pieces and the black vest, leaving her in her white shirt and pants. As she leaned against the wall to relax, she pulled out a book on "Weapon Design Theory" and began reading.
