RWBY: Old Rites (In Character)

"I'm not sure what your referring to." Ozpin looked Joshua dead in they eyes, holding his straight posture and professional tone. "What happened in the Emerald Forest was unfortunate and unexpected. It will be looked into and planned for in the future." Ozpin seemed unwavering on the subject of what happened in the emerald forest. He was known for being somewhat cryptic on certain matters, but this seemed somewhat different.

"If you were referring to the condition of your classmates, everyone is expected make a full recovery. It may take time, but they will be fine. Weve taken care to provide them with every comfort and every procedure we can manage to assure their well-being."

Ignacia was laying in the infirmary bed. Her head throbbing from all the fighting yesterday. It was a first for her, she'd only ever fought for short periods of time, but prolonged use of her semblance was a poor idea. She felt well, I feel like a piece of shit. Slowly pulling herself up from her sweat filled sheets. She unzipped her hoodie jacket, picking at her undershirt to help fan off the heat.

She sat at the side of the bed, the thought of laying back down in the sweaty mattress filled her with disgust. Fiddling with the contents of her pocket, she pulled out the vial of red dust. The thought of using it in the battle made her shiver. She could only faintly remember the emotions that would fill her head upon consumption. But she did remember the taste crystal clear, it tastes like donkey piss. She frowned, the first time she used it, she vomited profusely for hours on end. The gangrenous fluid, coating her palette and.... oh god. In an cruel example of irony, she covered her mouth. Puke bellowing in her throat, she dashed past Joshua and Ozpin mid conversation. Collapsing over a nearby trash bin and releasing her... contents. Ugh...This is a load of horse-

She retched mid thought, coughing aggressively into the bin.

Pewter scratched at the bandage on his cheek while sitting in the infirmary. All of his injuries were extremely minor just some scrapes bruises and minor cuts, he has honestly sustained worse injuries while training. Standing up he stretched his sore shoulder, probably the most 'severe' of his injuries but it should be fine in a day or so. Looking at his scroll he saw who his three teammates where, his partner, Lyrika, and two people he didn't know. Deciding he has nothing better to do right now he tried to find these people and introduce himself and see how they are doing.

                   How long was she unconscious?

                Ryuuko rubbed her eyes, her vision shifting into focus of her surroundings. Was that Ozpin over there? Millions of questions ran through Ryuuko’s mind. Where was everyone? Were they okay? When she saw Joshua near Ozpin, all those questions stopped. If he was all right, hopefully the others were too. Ryuuko rolled on her side and heard a paper crumble underneath. She grabbed it and looked at the note Ozpin wrote. Taking her scroll out of her pocket, she decided to talk to family before figuring out what team she was in and the like. Positioning the scroll in a way that would prevent her parents from seeing that she was the infirmary during a video call, Ryuuko’s mother looked worried the second the screen showed her.

“Ryuu, you look like you’re dying. Are you hurt?” Her mother looked ready to pass out at how pale she was.

A small laugh came out of her mouth. “Not currently…but I suppose you could say I made a pretty careless mistake. Don’t worry, for it is just my typical mistakes.”

 “I don’t think that makes me want to keep you at Beacon,” Ryuuko’s father said with a dry chuckle. “If you’re truly that clumsy, I doubt you’d be safe on the field.”

Ryuuko nodded, trying not to yawn. “…I just wanted to say everything is well. I merely injured my leg. It was a minor wound.” …even though this “minor wound” could have killed her in five minutes if Joshua wasn’t there. True, Ryuuko had injured herself accidentally plenty of times, though never bled as much as that. They talked for a while before her yawn escaped her lips. “Ah, forgive me, though I am a bit worn out by today’s test. I promise to speak again soon.”

“All right, but please stay safe. Being a huntress is dangerous. I know from experience.”

“Don’t injure yourself any further,” her father added, right before the screen returned to her scroll’s background. She looked at her team and…wait. “Team RAVJ”? According to how the team names worked, the first letter was the first letter of the leader's name and…

…of all people, Ryuuko was leader?!

@Clockwork Syringe @Enkye @anyone if they want to

Joshua noticed how professional Ozpin was as he answered Joshua's question, almost too professional, as if this had been rehearsed while all the students were recovering. Not wanting to rock the boat Joshua responded, "All right I understand," before Joshua leaned in and whispered, "Their leader is dangerous" before walking away from Ozpin.

Taking another look at his surroundings he noticed Ignacia vomiting heavily into a wastebasket, ought to give her some air it seems. He also noticed that Ryuuko was awake and from what it looked like conversing with someone on her scroll. Not wanting to intrude, he decided to flip through his own while he waited for her to finish. However it seemed that surprises were not through with him yet for the day as he noticed the new team he was apart of ~RAVJ huh?~ Looking up, he noticed Ryuuko finishing her call so he decided to talk to her to see how she was doing. "Hey Ryuu," Joshua waved as he grabbed a seat and sat down with him leaning on the back turned towards the front. "Looks like you're doing fine from the looks of things."

Neil, finally done his examination, jumped from his bed and cracked his neck. Aaaah! Nothing said a nice relaxing end of the day like getting wounds healed up from a battle against evil knights that were probably pawns of the Queen who secretly liked to kill teenagers! To be honest, he kind of expect his day to be a whole lot less...intense. I mean, fighting a deathstalker and a nevermore at the same time was easier than dealing with those dust-rags! But at least it was over...and hey! His Aura was back! So there's another positive thing! Looking around the room, he hummed and cupped his chin. Let's see. Who to socialize with...he looked at Igna, who was puking into the nearest trash can,

'SCHBINGO!'

"Well hey, Miss 'I know Neil a new shirt' " Neil said as he walked over, pointing to his sleeve. He patted her back, a little concerned. "You okay, Foxy? Need some water or somethin'? Or do you just eat coal?" Neil snickered. "Still, though. Ya kinda went crazy on me back there. Like you were a machine on the fritz or something...OH HEY!" He pulled out his scroll and looked at it. "We're on the team now! And guess what? ~You're the leeaaaderr!" He shrugged a bit, not realizing he was probably talking too much. "Makes sense. You were kinda sticking your neck out to make sure I was okay...thanks for that, by the way...no one's really done that for me before. Crazy, Huh?"

@Enkye

            A small smile appeared on her face. “Yes, thanks to you. If you were not there to aid me…well, we would not be speaking right now.” She laughed a little, though seemed uncomfortable at her own joke. Fidgeting with her fingers, Ryuuko thought of something to talk about. Oh, wait, where were her manners? “…ah…I forgot to say ‘thank you’, earlier. I will make sure to say the same to the others, however…” Ignicia was puking in a trashcan and Neil was talking to her. “…I believe they are a bit busy at the moment.” It was still hard to talk, for Ryuuko was exhausted, but her smile widened slightly as she spoke again. “You told me that many people do not see you as a knight because it looks like you are not, to them. They are wrong on that. A knight is not determined by their appearances. You do not need a suit of shining armor or a blade. Simply put, you need to be heroic, and that is what you are.”

Haemon was double checking his bandages, Favorable Downfall sitting in it's two handed axe form leaning against the bed. It had been a fun fight in his opinion, thank the lord that they had survived. His golden armor lay discarded on the floor, only the greaves remained on his body. He took a look at his scroll, seeing he was assigned to a team PLHM. He would have to introduce himself later when he would meet them. Haemon's mind wandered back to the battle. Against the line of knights, he had been a formidable force of rage, steel, and fire. Favorable Downfall had killed many today, but that's what it was meant to do. With a sigh, the massive man stood and donned the curiass and arm pieces of his armor. He took the massive battleaxe and morphed it back into its dueal Falchion mode, sliding the blades in their sheathes on his waist. Haemon picked up the golden helm of his and stretched before walking off to get a feel for the place. Hey, maybe he would get lucky and find one of his new team members around here.

@A Cat Named Hobbes @Enkye @Tarquin

Joshua chuckled a bit when Ryuu called him a knight, "Well actions do speak louder than words as a matter of fact. I'm not sure how much you remember of what happened when we were in that situation," Joshua waved his right hand backwards before returning it back to the top of the chair back. "I mean, I did have to carry you at points and a knight lost his head quite literally thanks to my weapon. Also almost used up all my own aura myself. Enough of that though, I wonder where our other teammates are leader?" Joshua dropped THAT bombshell quite nonchalantly and he took one very small swish of liquid from his flask before offering it to Ryuuko. "You want some? it's a strong brew though."

@Danchou Tsubomi

Ignacia could barely pay attention to Neil, talking to someone while they were dry heaving into a can was not a good way to strike up a conversation. Ignacia coughed out all the phlegm she could and looked up to see him completely carefree and happy. She wiped her mouth with her sleeve and rested on the floor, with bags under her eyes she glared at him, "Neil? Keep yer happiness on a throttle. I'm not feeling too good." She crossed her arms, her hair was disheveled and she just felt gross in her dirty hoodie. "Neil, actually, I'd really like that water.

@SpicyWatterson-Kun

"-and then there was a big flash of light, and someone started blowing a horn...it was such a mess. I don't think I even remember it all clearly. Maybe someone hit me on the head." Lyrika was rambling about her experiences to the medic that happened to be patching her up. She felt light headed and dizzy, and the words tumbling out of her mouth didn't always make sense.

"Did they also knock you into the mud?" The medic asked, referring to her grubby outfit.

"No, that was me. Ended up landing right in a spot of it after being launched into the forest."

"I see." The medic remarked with a bit of a smirk. "Well, you're mostly okay. Just rest a moment and you should be fine. I'll leave you to rest up now."

"Okie dokie. Bye, Mr. Medic Man." Lyrika waved goodbye to the medic. She ended up dozing off for a while, in the midst of everyone else getting their treatments.

Eventually, she reawakened, feeling a whole lot less loopy than she had been earlier. She discovered she had been left a note by the Headmaster, which told her that the team arrangements were on her scroll. Taking a look, she saw as much as she expected; Pewter and two strangers made up her new team. Apparently they were to be team PLHM, or "Plum". It was a nice enough name as far as Lyrika was concerned. Feeling well enough to get up, she decided it was only fitting she take the initiative to find out who the others on her team were.

However, her first move was to find Pewter. She had met him already, of course, but she felt better about meeting her team in the company of someone she already knew. "Ah, Pewter!" She called out to him. "Good to see you up and about. I was thinking of trying to meet and greet our new teammates; shall we find them together?"

@A Cat Named Hobbes

                A shade of pink appeared on her face. Getting injured was already embarrassing. Having to be carried was also embarrassing. All that, and being the leader? Overwhelming. What sort of leader passes out on the battlefield? She rubbed the back of her head and averted her eyes. That was the worst absolute impression that she could give to her teammates. Hopefully most of them were not around to see what happened to her. If they were, hopefully they would be merciful and not make fun of how careless she was.  “Wherever they are, I hope they are well. And as for that drink, I am fine. Thank you for your offer.”

"Oh, hey Lyrika, good to see you're ok. I was actually about to go do that myself." Pewter adjusted his backpack as he walked and pulled out his scroll looking at who all was on their team "Looks like we have to find some guy named Haemon and a girl named Mocha... You wouldn't happen to know either of them would you?" Pewter continued to look at the scroll trying to find pictures of his new teammates as he walked. Turning the corner Pewter ran into what felt like a solid metal wall looking up from his scroll he saw a titan of a man nearly a foot taller than him and muscles that made himself look like a twig. "Oh sorry I was trying to figure out who my teammates are on my scroll and didn't see you"

Haemon felt something bump into him. Looking down, he saw a face with a familiarity he couldn't place his finger on. Opening his Scroll, he looked between the pictures of his team mates and the guy in front of him. This was his new leader, Pewter, and the one next to him was Lyrika. "Well, ya did good then cause I'm one of your team mates." He said, the faint accent in his voice showing. He offered a gauntleted hand to his leader. "They call me Haemon. Pleasure to meet ya, leader."

Kaden sat alone on the trip back to Beacon. He let his mind process all that had happened. Second day at this school and he'd already manage to get into some crazy stuff. He didn't even have to do anything. He let a small grin play on his lips. He was gonna have so much fun here.

Back at the academy, Kaden was checked out by a medic. The doc seemed surprised that while most of the students had serious injuries, Kaden only walked away with a few cuts and scratches. Fighting multiple opponents at once was something he'd been taught how to do long ago. If it weren't for those invisible knights, he probably could've walked away unscathed.

After the medic recommended Kaden get bit of rest, the young swordsman grabbed his blade and stuffed his free hand in his pocket then made for the exit. His headmaster had mentioned something about a team. Kaden wasn't too fond of working with others. He didn't want to be slowed down by anyone and he always felt better fighting alone. Oh well. For now he'll obey Mr. Oz. Now to find his team.

"Ah nice to meet you Haemon. My name is Pewter, and we were actually just looking for you. Wanted to meet up with the rest of the team before I tracked down the room." Pewter shoved his scroll back in his pocket before accepting the titan's hand and giving it a shake. "So Haemon, it appears you managed to hold your own in that... battle. Do you mind if I ask what your semblance is?"

@Cruor Flumine @Tarquin

Their second day at Beacon had been crazy, some unknown enemy invading and seriously injuring many students. Would the rest of his time here be like this or was this a one time event... logic seemed to point to the former. Who was the ashen guy and why was he here? And what was up with that black mist?

Amazingly enough, they managed to stumble upon their first comrade right around the corner. Haemon, as he introduced himself as, was exceptionally tall. Lyrika had to crane her neck just to get a good look at him. He was like a giant out of some old fable. "Pleased to meet you as well. I'm Lyrika." She added after Pewter introduced himself. The first thing that Pewter decided to ask him was about his semblance. It seemed like an odd thing to ask someone off the bat, but perhaps it was necessary given they were going to be in a team together. Lyrika recognised Haemon's accent as being from Mistral. Lyrika had traveled there on occasion in the company of her family. She wondered why so many foreigners chose to come to Beacon. As far as she was aware, there was supposed to be an academy in Mistral and most other major kingdoms. But it hardly mattered in the long run if people preferred Beacon to their home institutions. She decided she would let Pewter do the talking here, for the time being.

Varien Ember

Varien had struggled his way to the washroom silently. He felt some of the strength return to his legs along the way, allowing him to not use the wall for support. Entering the bathroom, the man made a beeline for the sink. On the underside of his helmet was a small panel about the size of Varien's thumb. Flipping it open, revealed a small screen. Placing his gloved thumb on the screen, it flashed green. "Biolock disengaged." A female voice echoed out through the empty room. He listened to the hiss of gasses releasing into the air as his helmet loosened around his head. Shakily, his hands grasped the underside of the helmet and lifted. Varien stared into his own black eyes as he set the helmet down on the counter. Regret. Pain. Anger. Such emotions flowed through his mind as he slipped his gauntlets off. His hands were the same as his face. Scarred. Burned. The scarred skin on his face wrinkled at the sight of his own burned flesh. Mistakes were mistakes. Not everyone got off scott-free when they discovered their semblance. However, his constant practice did not make it better. The burns had increased throughout the years. Little flesh managed to escape the blaze that was his semblance after it had been discovered. Not even his hair had stayed the same. Instead of the once beautiful golden locks, his head now wore a mess of white hair which nearly covered his eyes. Suppose it was time to cut it again. Letting the water run cold, he splashed it against his face, the cool water helping to calm his storm of thoughts. Oh, he was strong, yes. But power would not come without it's price. He was determined however. He had to become stronger. A repeat of today could not happen again.

Haemon Almos

"My Semblance, eh? Well, it's not somethin' I like to talk about. But I can tell ya that I didn't use it durin' the battle. Just me and my weapon! What about you two? Ya both seemed to be doin well out there from what I could see." He said. His semblance was something dangerous that shouldn't be provoked. Much Like a wild animal would snap out, he would loose himself in the bloodlust with reckless abandon. Eh, they would see it sooner or later, that much is certain. His lavender eyes looked the two up and down, observing them both before offering his hand to Lyrika. "Likewise, lass." He responded with a smile.

@A Cat Named Hobbes @Tarquin

'I should have seen that coming' Pewter thought to himself as he fidgeted with his arm brace, it might have protected him today but most times it is more trouble than it is worth, deciding to show him he loosened his arm brace slightly before letting silver electricity arc around his hand for a minute "I can generate electricity from my body, it was quite useful in the battle due to all of them being entirely encased in metal, kind of made it unfair. But they did do a number on my weapons, need to fix that so I don't run into that problem later"  He says as he pulls out Fang and Claw from his bag showing them how dented they were and some of the parts hanging where they shouldn't be. "I normally don't fight on the defensive but there was no place for me to stay away from them" After his display he made sure to tighten his arm brace again. Quite dangerous to have it loose near someone encased in metal.

Lyrika had to wonder exactly why Haemon didn't want to discuss his semblance. Was it embarrassing, like hers, or did he have a more concerning reason to keep it a secret? Lyrika couldn't imagine a man of his size would need to fear judgement, but she wasn't one to be presumptuous. With Pewter discussing his own semblance, Lyrika had the feeling she would have to discuss hers as well. So far, not a single person had actually found her poetry something to laugh at, but Lyrika still couldn't bring herself to discuss it candidly. Who knew when she would finally run into someone that wanted to mock her for it? "Well, my semblance is sonic manipulation, more or less. Usually I just use it to push people around with sonic blasts." It sounded so strange when she put it that way. Of course, it sounded even stranger when she mentioned quoting poetry to use it.

"Not to interrupt our discussions, but we still have a forth member we've yet to find. Perhaps we should all go searching for her?" Lyrika was interested to find out what the other girl on the team was like. She felt a little out of place among all these hardy males.

@A Cat Named Hobbes @Cruor Flumine @Enkye (Maybe?)

Haemon let out a laugh. "Well, that's one way to fight a battle!" He said to Lyrika. "Too bad 'bout yer weapons. Ever think of puttin' in some kind of shield?" He asked. With a retractable shield, he would be able to deflect blows much easier with minimal damage to the weapons themselves. "Yea, might want to find the lass. I'll follow ya two, not much of a pathfinder myself."

@A Cat Named Hobbes @Tarquin @Enkye

"A shield will only limit my mobility, normally i can keep my distance and avoid being hit in the first place" He points to the wires hanging out of the gauntlet and sword "They extend so I can fight from a descent distance. But I should have them good as new by the time I head to bed, If not I have back ups though they don't fit my fighting style as well" He put away the weapons and started walking, "I kind of just wandered into the two of you maybe our luck will continue." Two down one to go.

"So does anyone know anything about this 'Mocha' person? I have only met three people since arriving here including you two." Pewter assessed his team so far, it appeared he had a heavy hitter armored titan, he would make a good front line fighter, while Lyrika would make a good ranged support, but he needed to know about the last member before he started thinking strategy. He was the teams apparent leader.

@Tarquin @Cruor Flumine @Enkye

"I'm afraid I've never met her before either." She began. But upon further consideration, she remembered something from the earlier battle. "Actually, if memory serves me correctly, wasn't she one of the ones that was up to some fancy heroics before everything went insane during that incident? You know, the one zipping around on rocket powered legs?" There was a great deal of activity in that battle, but the whole "rocket legs" thing stood out to Lyrika. Yet another person with cooler stuff than she had, though she wasn't sure she should be envious of someone that apparently required prosthetic limbs. "She ought to stand out if I'm correct. I can't imagine there are too many people walking around of mechanical legs." Having said that, there were still a lot of people walking around, which would make it hard to find anybody no matter how much they stood out. Hopefully they would be as lucky as they had been with Haemon.

"You'd be surprised, lass. Beacon is a pretty big place. I'd check the infirm before anythin' else though, she might still be restin'." He said. It didn't seem like many of the students had left the building yet, so their chances of finding Mocha there would be increased. He was too ashamed to admit it, but he was too caught up in the battle earlier to see her pull off any 'heroics' that might've happened. When he and Favorable Downfall go to work, he seems to loose track of time and whats going on around him.
