Really, the dice roller can be pretty good too. I mean, I'm very happy with Gabi's attributes, but only because Psychie let us reroll ones. If you guys will recall, my first roll for character attributes was four ones. I remember thinking then if I had been stuck with that roll, I would not be playing Gabi, you guys would have been stuck with me playing Carl (I.Q. Attribute of 3).

Well, I'm actually doing much better in rolls than I had been with my last Robotech char Charlise. Of which I still suggest her recieving the designation of Snake Eyes.

If Gabi is able to round up Ryuko's attention (which is a Game Master call, I'd guess?), the two of them could also look for clues in Room 315 (we got a few good rolls earlier, but the more rolls we make, the stronger the chance for success). Also, I'd like Gabi to use her "Hummingbird" drone to record the room in video/audio in case it comes in useful later.

What do you roll for a skill when you dont have that skill?

Well, the only medical skill Gabi has is Field Surgery but if Psychie will allow it and make the roll, it might tell us more than we know. If it doesn't, we might record what data we have, and wait for WlfSamurai's character to make an appearance and perhaps ask him.

I'm also of the opinion that the less Third Heavy touches in here the better, but there are skills and takents Gabi could use through Hummingbird like Detect Concealment, Perception, etc.) that might offer answers too.

That depends on your Game Master. In my games, I try to follow a process of basic good sense combined with character education, background, and Attribute scores. Of course, it largely depends on the skill in question too. I will let just about anyone who doesn't have the First Aid skill to make an attempt, but Demolitions? That's a completely different story.

Lol Marlon could look at her and probably detect any entry wounds. Or maybe bruises. Otherwise would probably wager that she was poisoned. Given that there is no obvious blood, poison is his assumption. So right now, given context of the situation, thinks she had a contact she was meeting, and that contact poisoned her discreetly at the bar. Given the lack of clothes and they were strewn about, this contact might of had some romantic interest, or the effects of the poison might have made her feel very warm. She could have been killed then placed in such a position to make it look to maids that she was sleeping so would leave her be when entering the room. He would rule out she normally sleeps that way, given the generality females dont usually sleep wearing a bra.


Though he could check and see if she is actually a bomb. But Marlon has already stepped out of the room. He isnt inclined to contaminate the room further. Going to the front office, and pulling Military Business, looking through security footage and a few records would be what he could best help with right now.

My question was more of just a curiosity of what would happen if a non medic(or X skill) tried to make a medic(or X skill) related roll. Which it sounds like taking the closest relevant ability is what would likely happen, coupled with what would probably by some difficulty increase to succeed a roll.

If Marlon starts conducting an investigation like the one you seem to be approaching, Deunan could either get commended or busted depending on what the GMP see it (not to mention the rest of us). Plus, we being Third Heavy Recon clearly have vested interest in this case and our team could be seen as attempting to contaminate or remove/replace evidence. Move cautiously when dealing with the GMP. =)

Lol Marlon is a sapper. And looks at everything he hasn't already touched like it has some dastardly design that he should be careful of. And also has a tendency to expect all his enemies are some sort of evil masterminds. Since he knows traps, he looks at things and thinks to himself "if I were them, I'd have totally put a trap on that". Hes a surprisingly cautious individual.


And he hasn't had a good look at the body. Just "shes in her underwear". Hes also an engineer at heart, and naturally tries to figure things out in his head. He will throw pieces of a puzzle together in his head to fit, until other pieces present themselves for him to work with. Leads him to overthinking things that should be pretty simple. Thankfully he knows he isnt a detective, so doesn't blurt everything out unless he feels it has some legitimacy to be accurate.


Also, he hasn't moved from the door. He just made the suggestion to Staff Sergeant about checking the cameras as something they could do while forensics does their work. He isnt one to go off on his own without an order. Thus clearing the idea with Duenan before he acts.

And Duenan was given authority to do as she needed in her investigation. Whether that trumps GMP in their authority depends on who Duenan ultimately answers to and the route she wishes to take. Marlon certainly wont do anything to willingly get her in trouble, and would try to keep her from it. (The exception being snotty air jocks that mouth off to him)
