That works for me. I'm trying to have Alan move past feeling like a killer, and reconnect with people again, so timing is good.

All the coughing made him start to wonder if he could jeopardize a mission just because of a bad habit he picked up in basic.

Being that the CBR Mk. 2E body armor used by the Army of Southern Cross is basically a super-armored spacesuit (fully environmentally shielded), Alan's coughs are not likely at all to be heard unless he wanted them to be so. Of course, if he turns out to the be the one dork in the squadron that insists in traveling in his Spartas's Transport mode with his armor's faceplate off (so his coughs do give us away), then Gabi's going to start teasingly calling him "Carl." =)

I hadn't considered that, but the physical convulsions and depleted lung capacity in and of themselves are handicaps enough even if the sound is silenced. It'd be more of a minor thing sure, but it's enough to make one paranoid that it could be the difference of life and death for someone else.

Now, that's very true. Given Alan's troubled background and current state of mind, I could see that possibly turning into a roleplaying element that could endanger a character (or even the whole team). I have been enjoying Alan's internal family-based thoughts (it's kind of like a story-within-a-story). It makes me wish WlfSamurai were able to post more often as I can imagine his character would be very willing to help with that. As it stands, Alan has only Deunan, Marlon, and a pair of FNG (Fucking New Girls) to call upon if he wanted to talk about it (which Gabi would definitely be up for).

Assuming others in the squad asked, he'd be willing to discuss it at this point even with the new people. Based on RP thus far, probably Marlon, Gabi, and Alyssa would know by now.

Well, after Psychie unveils the results of Gabi's rolls on the EU-11 replacement (name dependent on outcome), maybe we could roleplay that?

Based on RP thus far, probably Marlon, Gabi, and Alyssa would know by now.

What specifically would they know?

That his brother was once in jail, is now out of jail, how it relates to why Alan enlisted, current state of his family, etc.

I don't expect his own state of mind to be a frequent concern he voices outside of the day to day aggravation with human beings in "the workplace" or not trusting others at their word with other conspirators still at large.

Marlon would be happy to tell her what he has picked up about observing the base and problems he expects based on the state of affairs. He likes talking about work and engineering things. And given that he hit it off well with her too, would certainly go out of his way to see was caught up.

I'd wager he would probably ask her if she wanted to help, as Marlon does like keeping himself busy.

He probably wouldnt be able to help much with connections, as he tends to work more than to socialize.

Let's see, right now Marlon is more focused on repairs than upgrades, but if Gabi were to come to Marlon about thinking up things hed go full ham in helping her. Once the base is up to snuff, amd the maintenance crews have the chance to breath again, he will start trying to come up with things too.

What Alan's doing, about detecting tampering would also be a big help to Marlon, as one of his primary concerns is making making sure the Squads mecha won't fail them. He will be pretty excited about that.

As for Marlon himself, he doesn't have a lot of personal drama to pull from. His past inspired him to be what he is, rather than a rocky road that lead him there. And he is the type to keep his head in the present and not look back at the bumps.

Of what ideas I got, well one of them i mentioned regarding Ryuko and their spat.

Marlon would also like to learn more from Lt. Danfield l, and that might something Gabi and Marlon can do together. I see her and Marlon being pretty good friends based on what I seen.

Marlon also sees Alan as a pretty good friend. And he wouldnt be the type to pry into stuff that bothered Alan. I still plan on seeing that the two go fishing together I'm the Amazon.

I definitely need to think up some more subplots for Marlon though.

During the course of that conversation, I can heartily imagine Gabi telling Alan she wouldn't have hesitated to shoot the thugs either and the would-be boss got off lucky with a beating. Gabi probably then asked Alan if there were any way someone could do anything to help the situation.

Gabi got a pretty warm welcome into the Third Heavy Recon, all things considered. That's not lost on her. She wouldn't turn down Marlon's help if only for the squadron-bonding experience and the technical sharing. She would tell Marlon that she and Ryuko had been through the loss of the Jungle Rats reconnaissance squadron together, and there Ryuko was largely a blazing shotgun while Gabi was the suppressed sniper rifle of sorts. But what else could one expect when you put Air Cav and Recon Patrol in the same team? Gabi would also express her trust of Ryuko.

Gabi sees Ryuko as being responsible for making her own way into Third Heavy Recon (as every new person must do). It was bad that she came across the way she did and gave a poor first impression of herself, but it was good that she made the attempt at teamwork at the hotel (and got results).

Gabi would try to include the shy Neo into conversations if Neo seemed up to it. Gabi knows what it's like to be the odd one out (be it because of her gender, her minority heritage, or her alien heritage, much less the fact that she tends to be a loner, happy to work on her drones, mecha, and her own body in the workout room).

As for Sgt. Conway, Gabi would keep things formal with her. Conway is the boss here, after all. Gabi wouldn't have any problem with Deunan as long as she proved she could lead skillfully and effectively. Gabi thought well-enough of Deunan's calls during the hotel search and likes that Deunan is the type to compliment instead of condemn.

Just so everyone is on the same page as far as Gabi's background goes, the only one that might have knowledge of that is Deunan, since she is the squad leader. Personnel files are all confidential, so unless someone is hacking into the computer to view them, they are off limits.

Psychie Psychie

Hey boss! A thought popped on my head given recent events about a possible narrative or plot device.

What would the ASC's policy be about fraternization within the military? For example, dating. Specifically involving one of a superior position to their subordinate.

Sherwood Sherwood

I know that in our actual military, the only rule is between officers and enlisted. Two NCO's dating each other is ok.

That's what I sort of gathered. But saw some more nuance to it like it tends to get a side eye. And reprimands could come should things like favoritism or the relationship interfering with duty kind of thing.

Though thay is simply our reality. Robotech went down a different line, and if I remember correctly goings on on the SDF-1 happened. Could be precedent there to use.

Meanwhile, Ryuko Narukami was in her Ajax's cockpit, looking over a blueprint that someone wanted her to check out.

"Oh right, one of the engineers here wanted me to look over a blue print for something, but I honestly don't have the power to tell them to go ahead and start working on it."

Okay, can this come to a stop, please?

If we're going to continue playing "Magical NPC Fan Club," then my character's veteran Special Forces team in Bolivia shows up out of nowhere and magically provides us the location of the Zentraedi High Lord. That's perfectly in-character, right?

Seriously, this is Psychie's game. I think unless she assigns a co-Game Master, she alone controls the NPCs (along with any convenient cheerleading or gift-giving).

Right? Or is there some ruling from Psychie I missed? I thought this was addressed already.

Thank you.

The comments that were posted from the background soldiers were not out of line, but lets try to keep the playing of the NPCs to me.
(bold mine)

Ok, let me address this again. If you wish to interact with an NPC, please post it and not just make up bits of conversation with them. In the event that you want to post - I ask where to find the Lieutenant, and someone points me in the right direction - I have no problem with that. But I may have something specific I want/need to add to your conversation, so don't just add stuff in without taking steps to post it and let me reply to you.

Psychie Psychie What about the adding of items like the mecha blueprint from the unknown engineer that you did not put into the game?

Good question. That did not happen. Gundam Watcher 27 Gundam Watcher 27 If you wish to have some modifications done to the Ajax in the same manner as the Spartas, you need to post that you do some research, make some rolls, and overall, discuss it with me what you want done. Some things I may arbitrarily veto as not possible, while other things can be made possible.

Understood.

Should I go ahead and edit my sheet for the new damage of the Eu-11? Assuming that nothing comes up in the meantime?
