In order to pay for a martial arts system (in this case Tai Chi Chuan), the player took skills from his O.C.C. to pay for the system. This way has never been done before. Heck, it has never been brought up.
Note that the Chiang-Ku does not have "Other/OCC" Skills or Secondary Skills to spend ...it specifically says on page 49 of Rifts: England...under the heading "Combat Abilities" that they can exchange RCC skills to upgrade their hand to hand combat.

No worries. You are good.

Yes. And were a Chiang-ku dragon minus an O.C.C. being played I would have zero issue, friend. =)

Like Psychie said,
No worries. You are good.

And, if course, our Sherwood!
Just don’t forget that WP Axe. So many uses.

The Ley Line Walker abilities for the Chiang-Ku are also outlined on page 49 under the heading "Spells"

This is a part of the Chiang-Ku RCC and exactly how I built Xinyi...

Eonivar Eonivar Seriously! =) I look forward to seeing your character in action and my character will really dig yours - they're both happy spirits!

Win-win, fellow gamer! =)

Yeah. Who knows what kind of hijinks we’ll get into with this group!
Oh, I bet your True Atlantean will probably flip when Raven (someday?) finds out we have a real Chiang-ku in the group! You know how those two races get along!

Eonivar Eonivar To be clear - you haven't done anything wrong, friend!

In fact, thank you, Eon!

You have introduced a new mechanic into a game that we are constantly changing. Want a little background? I'll speak only for myself here.

Action Points? I brought those in here. First from our Pathfinder game and then I converted them and brought them into into our Palladium game. =)

Anyone use Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do 2.0 in any of our games? I wrote that. I didn't like the Jeet Kune Do from the Rifter (for one thing, it was misspelled).

How about bringing a Ninjas and Superspies martial arts systems into our Palladium games? I started that! Before me it was just basic expert martial arts Commando and assassin. As a real life martial artist I got bored with that. So I changed it.

Adding one Skill every level? That's mine.

Getting one point into an Attribute of choice up to a maximum of three, every level? I did that (in Robotech: Broadsword).

Sherwood and Psychie have brought their own changes into the games we play too! Why? Because our games are always evolving - and that's a good thing! And now you have helped too! Today! ("Running water never grows stale." - Bruce Lee.)

So I see this as a chance for our game to evolve a little. Wasn't 2nd Edition D&D stronger than 1st? 3.5 better than 3.0?

Discussions like this are what make realities like that happen! And that's a good thing! =)

Sheet nearly done, the 12 foot, like 2 ton dude has a 20 foot vertical jump because paladium jump rules are very very silly.

With a 60 Physical Strength, I can't say I'm surprised. Remember, Kevin Seimbeida loved comic books before he got into the RPG business. =)

EDIT: 62 P.S.! Wow! Glad he'll be on our side! =)

Funnily enough the strength and/or speed stat are NOT used to figure out how high you can jump.

Gymnastics just makes it 4 Feet +2 per level, and my martial art just so happens to provide increases to jump height.

So yeah very super hero style shennagins are possible.

I don't think it would be a game with Seimbeida's name on it if it weren't! =)

Psychie Psychie Do you own Ninjas & Superspies hardcover? Or the Rifter #7? I'm asking because when we created our characters, think you stated we were to take Skills from Rifts Ultimate Edition?

You allowed us to take some Skills from Maddog's Compendium... but Qi Gong and Anticipation (from the above-mentioned books)? Are you familiar with those?

They are also in the Compendium, but yeah I'd be happy to talk to Psychie about them, they are actually two skills that don't provide big stat buffs, which is part of why I choose them.

(This edit turned out to be its own post so I'm reposting it here.)

Psychie? We're still using Rifts Ultimate Edition as the core book for our Skills, right?

Mirgris Mirgris I hope you'll forgive me. I have to bring these things up because they were not options when we first rolled our characters. Love the artwork you found for anthropomorphic elephants! Wow!

1. The Gymnastics Skills in our team gave us +1 P.P. (per Rifts Ultimate Edition) not the +1d4 P.P. out of the Compendium (and early Palladium books).

2. The Qi Gong is an excellent Skill and the only Skill in the game that I know that increases Saving Throws. In Palladium (and very much unlike Dungeons & Dragons!), Saving Throws don't improve with experience. Qi Gong adds a tiny, but important and otherwise very hard-to-find benefit that every Game Master should be aware of (plus... Qi Gong is kind of fun to practice!).

3. Anticipation is one Skill I struck from Jeet Kune Do (where it originates in Rifter #7). From players in general (meaning not you), Anticipation is open to abuse. Get Quick Draw along with other Initiative boosting skills and you'll likely rarely (if ever) suffer from the powerful Simultaneous Attack for as long as you have your character! There's a reason I didn't go with it in the Jeet Kune Do 2.0 I wrote up.

Plus some of the Skills in the Compendium? Psychie might find them overbalanced (have you seen Kickboxing? Add +2 Attacks per Round and more? That's nuts!).

That said, Psychie may decide she likes all of these! Great! Super! That gives the rest of us access if she does. But as a Game Master who has literally been playing longer than she's been alive, I feel it's my duty to point these things out for her. For her benefit as well as ours. =)

(I don't sign my posts...) Honor and fun, (... for nothing!)
Purr =)

Whoops! I goofed. Wrong combat term (Strike, not Initiative; it's late). Anticipation works if the "Anticipator" rolls a successful Strike.

That means anything above a 4 on a d20. So... 75% of the time, the "Anticipator" can ignore Simultaneous Attacks. Even if the other character rolls a Natural 20! Regardless of combat bonuses!

That's why I don't like Anticipation. But again, Psychie might, and it's her game. =)

I actually was considering anticipation on a way to limit power.

Because it takes an action and you don't get your PS bonus and *could* fail after using the action.

However yeah I hadn't considered MDC combat means no AR.
So it always works instead of costing an action that may do nothing.
