The armor he can make maxes at 400 IIRC, I'm away from the desk.

My thinking is that he will be kind of a tank, big elephant man made of metal, can take a hit and hit back like a truck but won't have the same degree of bonuses, tricks, and attacks as other people.

Small number of spells
and can make some gear for other people, already making a list of who gets what when he gets a chance.
Wow! And what's stopping him for making some for himself? That's tanky all right! Many a mech from beloved Robotech doesn't have 400 Mega-damage. =)

But the big draw for me is if you like the character. =)

There are PPE costs to the crafting, so the better the gear the more PPE costs and the really good gear, gives him half combat stats for like 2 weeks as he infuses it with his life force.

So he might not have enough PPE for the best armor (Until he levels more), though I think he does start with a set of good mega damage armor.

I do, I've always wanted to do a loxodan and never really gotten too. The class and race also have a lot of cool symmetry and a craftsman for the party is a good niche for them.

I'm really into being the 12 foot, 980 pound warrior that can throw a truck at someone, while also being a gentle wise man. Kind of the warrior poet ideology.

Yeah! I love a character that's balanced in the sense of Yin/Yang, complimentary hardness and softness as opposed to just being good in only one of the two. =)

If your character works anything like a Techno-wizard wouldn't he be a more-able crafter beside a ley line or Nexus point? Plus. P.P.E. can be shared (unless of course our Game Master says otherwise).

Creating an item meant for a person using some of their own personal energy I think is a pretty cool thing. =)

Any recommendations for martial arts for a hammer user?

I was looking through assassins and super spies and there was a lot to go through.

Let me look once I get off of work. If memory serves, there is something out there that will work

Heya! Here are some thoughts as they come to me. Bear with me; I'm having to go by memory as my books are not in front of me. =)

Moo Gi Gong provides all Ancient Weapons, though its level advancement bonuses are kind of weak.

In Ninjas & Superspies, hammers fall under W.P. Blunt so any system specifically containing that Skill or Weapon Kata: Blunt would improve a hammer-user's ability to fight.

The Phillpino Escrima from the Rifter magazine would definitely fall into that category.

China's Wu Shu Tsung offers a lot of weapon proficiencies like the Chinese meteor hammers. That's probably not what you're looking for, but they may have a Blunt option in there too.

I know the Okinawan system, Te, offers paired nunchaku and paired sai but... isn't the third option W.K. Paired Weapons - Blunt? I don't recall off the top of my head.

Hmm. I will post more as memory provides. =)

The Rifter's Munen Muso is a law enforcement-friendly martial arts system. I know they have W.P. Handcuffs (it's neat!) but I'd be surprised if they didn't have Blunt too.

I really feel like I'm missing at least two more... maybe from Mystic China?

What there are no special abilities for hammers that come from General Repair??? :P:P:P

Ha ha! I guess there are no combat bonuses but you're the least likely to bang your thumb with it!

Wait. Or maybe the most?

Oh, you had me going! =)

In Ninjas and Superspies, my favorite skill is Role-playing Game Design. If you haven't seen it, read the description? =)

Sadly it has to be a giant 2 handed hammer.

I will check out Moo Gi Gong though, the body hardening powers can make up for Medicare per level benefits.

Ah! A maul!

Sherwood Sherwood ? I have another item for you to ponder - what Weapon Proficiency do mauls fall under in your Rifts game here?

Ah! A maul!
Yeah the rifter magazine seems to only have "Short blunt" and I don't think my literally ten foot hammer counts.

Though there was a rule about spending a power to allow you to use a style with a different weapon, not sure that applies to any possible weapon or not.

I might just take commando.
