Revolt of the Outer Rim - Out of Character

Hm... I should make up some lingo.....

"Supernova!" - Something like saying cool or sweet!

"This is so gonna crash..." - This is gonna suck.

"Get nucked!" - Like go fuck yourself but with a nuke.

"I can feel it in my bum...." - Saying you have a gut feeling. Based of the shuddering of the craft a pilot can feel.

Well, Despite Hancock's heavy investment in America's political history, he did forget another important person with a T in his name, who's precisely Thomas Jefferson. It looks like Greene gets another major plus point here.
I was between the two when it came to basing him. Jefferson is my favorite founding father, but it doesn't roll off the tongue like Hancock.

UCM guys feel free to rush ahead of us a bit, you've got the initiative for now! Besides, we've still got our resident robot revolutionary (robolutionary?) on the planet

<laughs> Captain? I'm just a Pilot. Although, I suppose we do need to work out the equivalent ranks for Pilots. Hmm. Lets see..

Pilot,Trainee

Pilot, Junior I, II

Pilot

Pilot, Senior

Pilot, Wingmaster and Pilot, Shipmaster as equal ranks, one being devoted to fighter operations, and the other to capital ship operations.

Naval equivalent ranks...

Ensign

Lieutenant Jg and Lieutenant

Commander

Captain

Admiral

What do you think? I know I skipped a few possible ranks, but I imagine a guild like we're in would be, flexible, more so than an actual navy.

Guess I need to go back and edit my posts. Should I drop to just Pilot and change my CS, or edit posts to say Senior pilot?

*Shrugs* I would prefer to use air force ranks for some reason but since the Guild is more like a business, maybe we could be a little flexible with the ranks being just a sense of respect and a gauge of skill? I dunno. .-.

Whichever works for you. I just figured that since we're technically line officers, we'd probably have naval equivalent ranks. (I spent a few too many years in the navy, so I tend to default to naval ranks. You'll have to come up with them for air force if you want to use those instead.)

Eh. Classic sci-fi space 101: Use navy ranks cause space is an ocean. So henceforth, *salutes* Ensign Ardent reporting for duty.

Henh. In order for you to have your, reputation, I figure you're at least a Junior Pilot I. Maybe even a II. Your call.

Star Trek used Navy rankings, named Enterprise after a sea-faring ship, there's a lot of share-and-borrow between Naval and Stellar operations (there is a US Naval Space Command - Star Trek will be real one day I hope)

However as a rebellion I'm not so sure rank would be a significant indicator, for a pilot at least. I just naturally chose a licensing system and said Rzaya had a restricted one, so maybe licenses to operate certain kinds of spacecraft? Just tossin' that thought out there

Hrm. Rzaya is UCM, not Pilot's Guild. I imagine that they would have an entirely different structure for their pilots.

In a place like the Rim pilot ranks would most likely depend on skill level, ability to pilot different craft, and above all, dependability. The Guild is effectively promising that its Pilots aren't going to run off with their appointed cargo. The internal ranks would indicate the level of trust and skill, and the external equivalents would help determine how much the Guild can charge for the services of its members.

Oh I agree, in fact I think UCM would be the one to use a rigid ranking system before a revolt. Now the fact that it is a Pilot's Guild is what made the think licensing would be a good system. Just like in modern time we have freelance pilots who can get a license in certain aircraft (usually end up being crop dusters, but you can still get it) I kind of imagined that being the pilots guild cohort, but maybe it is just best to not try to set up restricting classifications at all just yet.

Managed to squeeze in another post before school. It is a long read and contributes very little to the situation everyone else is in so don't feel pressed to look it over.

Why Hollow, you know I won't be satisfied with that sort of answer. But tell me if this RP needs a compelling villain, then I'll be more than excited and happy to comply. :D

Ohhohohohoho~ @Archie is the GM of this RP and as for villains, we have @Coward and @Elephantom being the UCM commandos. I'm sure we can use an enemy pilot~

UCM Espionage? But isn't that already the thing we're doing?
Is that so? I haven't read up yet on the latest posts. >w<

But if I can't be an active spy, then maybe I can be a disavowed UCM agent.

Maybe in the Metal Gear Solid sense, but not in the literal sense. Espionage is being a spy - a character type we haven't seen introduced yet. What you two are doing is an infiltration. Albeit surreptitious/clandestine, something like a SO team, but nothing like espionage.
