I'm just an art student trying to work on my writing skills so I can make the best kinds of comic books/graphic novels. When I'm not here, I'm playing video games and filling my head with ideas. I'm easy to work with, and usually choose creativity over conventional aesthetics. I have zero tolerance for disrespect and hate--although I know it's taught and there should be grace for those who want to educate themselves on why they could be wrong. I'm an openly gay man and usually write as such, although I have room to be diverse and I have made lots of progress with stretching my brain that far. July 21st will make five years of me being active on this site. If you read this, introduce yourself so we can get to know each other a little better. The stronger the connections, the more invested we are in seeing our characters thrive. And, trust me, they're gonna need it!

Make sure you're aware of RpN's rules and guidelines. Noone wants to be policed by the Big Guns (just trust me on that).

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A BABYSITTER. There will be no tantrums, overly heated arguments, slander, or any other reason for me to give you the boot. Since we have decided to have a thread OOC, I ask all of you to help me maintain an orderly environment in terms of respecting one another. If there are any altercations, I won't hesitate to stop the entire RP until we return to sensibility. That being said, you shouldn't hesitate to use that report button if you feel it necessary.

Please respect the decisions handed down by the GMs. If it was committed or denied, it was within good reason. All decisions are final unless discussed otherwise.

If you want to be involved in someone else’s backstory, please consult them. I know some of the gods...er...tasted of many fruits, but I don't want there to be a feeling of competition. Besides, I encourage the intermingling of past and future storylines. There is no right way to tell this story, only the true way. I'm just saying: ask first.

If you feel the need to drop out or put your character on hold, let me know via dm. We can work out an arrangement(seriously, I want to work with you). If all else fails, we can plan out a way for your character to bow out that is satisfactory to you, me, and your fellow players. But, your character submission is a contract of commitment. Ghost us and your character is getting eaten by a plant or something. IDK. If you read all this, include your favorite color combo in your introduction. Mine is Powder Baby Blue and Soft Neon Orange.

hi hi! I generally go by Savi since that's easier to type out than my mouthful of a name lol I'm 29 and have been role-playing since I was in middle school, so quite a while at this point.

in regards to the roleplay, I think I'm either leaning towards Selene or Poseidon for my deity, just gotta figure out which aesthetic I want to do more

Let's get really knee deep in pantheons. I wanna see some Mayan choices, or something from the Shinto faith. Celtics would be cool too, or maybe some Scottish or Polynesian gods too. And, do not think that the race of your character absolutely has to match the region characteristics of their god. Just be respectful of the faith and try to make the portrayal as authentic as possible✨

Hallo, you can call me Lilith, I think black and anything else is a solid choice but the light green and pink color combination is aesthetically pleasing.

So I was thinking of doing Shinto but I wanted to know where the line is drawn on what classifies as a 'god' with Shintoism as they're all collectively called kami. It's one of those religions where it's using an all conceptual idea vs a definitive term. Amaterasu is a goddess and kami but then so are the multiple entities that are Shinigami being kami. Then there is Raijin and Fujin who are gods/kami but are also demons. Even some ancestral spirits are called kami.

Are we putting more emphasis on singular kami regardless of what they actually are vs multiple entity kami like the Shinigami and spirit based ones like ancestral spirits?
Tldr: are we going with the traditional western idea of gods or is there some wiggle room anywhere?

I would imagine that if a hard line is to be drawn,it'd be based on whether they're Amatsukami or Kunitsukami. I can't speak for the GM,but I think some of the more prominent Kunitsukami like Susano-o or Konohanasakuya-hime would work nonetheless.

My favorite color combo is black and orange.

Personally, I don't think that's where you should drawn a line. Admittedly Shinto isn't my area of expertise, but I don't think there's that big of a difference between the two groups.

It'd be like drawing a line when it comes to Norse god based on whether they're Aesir or Vanir.

There's some wiggle room. What makes a god in the RP is how much faith was put into the faith attached to them. Kami are recognized as sacred spirits that attain godhood in a similar approach. Do not feel you have to stick to the Western standard when picking your godclaim. And, if the Kami have a more demonic form that's fair too, as long as they were worshipped and there's some form of divinity in them.

I'm also taking notes from you guys because I don't have a seamless approach yet. We'll get there, though. Thanks for the input.

Well then,I'm here. My favourite color combo is blue and pink.

If I do participate in this I was thinking of playing a child of the Mesopotamian goddess Nanaya,or the Arabian moon deity Alilat. Might be interesting to explore a character symbolizing love and abundance in a time of war.
That concept may very well be a determining factor for some of the narrative. The story theme involves growth and realization. Love and abundance are both a catalyst and a byproduct of those ideas.

Alright! I'm working on a character sheet template to be ready ASAP. While I use bbcode, it is not a necessity. So, get your faceclaims together--remember, real people or realistic drawings. And, please support art and don't use AI art/images. That's theft in my eyes and, while I won't kick you or anything, I would be very disappointed.

Also! Would you guys like to start a QOTD series? It would range from RP things to everyday life and opinions. Just a thought, to keep activity and morale.

Thanks!

I'm a bit torn on picking my chatacters godly parent.

At the moment, I'm trying to decide between either Mą'ii (The Navajo version of Coyote) and Päivätär (the Finnish sun goddess). Though, maybe someone from Inuit mythology would be fun too.

Would you guys like multiple characters? Not every demigod has to be on the front lines.

Too many people to quote and I don't like clutter, so I'll just go about it generally. Drawing a line with Amatsukami and Kunitsukami would be difficult as Raijin and Fujin, weather kami would be one side and the creation duo Izanami and Izanagi would be the other side as the former aren't from the celestial realm nor live there but the latter do. I think going with orpheus' idea would be best as that allows more overall choosing from other religions as well with an example being Anansi as he's traditionally just a trickster but some associate him as a god as well so in RP he might have more power brought to him from worship he later acquired.

I have a few kami in mind I'd like to use, Raijin, Fujin, Ryujin and Susanoo being more the idea that weather being a destructive force in of itself. Now I would like to ask that since our characters are demigods would they have a sense of power to them that manifest but would otherwise be explained reasonably? Like maybe a demigod of war getting into fights and winning being explained as just a good fighter, a demigod of nature might have plants around them in excellent condition would just be someone who's considered a green thumb?

The power would correlate from their nature, making them unique but derived from that source. The parent of the demigod does come into play with some defining characteristics about the child, but ultimately, it comes down to what you want your character to become.

Green light for characterd creation. Have fun!

Hi!

I didn't see any lore so like K some questions then:

- it's says in int CHK that some already know about it all. So like was there some kinda secret society or school they went to?
- if we know early did we have some kinda divine vision or something?
- did we have these abilities growing up?
- did we have to keep it all quiet or could there be a cult started up to revive the old deities?
- i know we can't choose god from the prevalent religions in our world but do th9se religions exist in the RP world?
- I looooooove 🌈 colours but like I do wear white a lot and so Imma choose white as fave since it is all the 🌈 lights combined into one!

So I understand that our characters are (mostly) unaware of their demigod status but how will they learn of it for the purposes of the upcoming battle? Will they find out through the non-deities, whatever they may be, during an introductory post or should we write it into our backstories that they find out whenever we feel makes sense for what we want for them?

I was actually thinking of how to tackle that. I was going to use the non-deity figures to operate like Alpha from MMPR, if you know the reference. They'd have more of their own personalities though.
I'm still work shopping a name for their group(First-Borns?). It's a combined effort, so expect a lot of dysfunction and clashing.

Anyway, I will give you guys an option: your character can already be recruited by the First-Borns, with the knowledge of everything going on, OR your character could be out of touch with their demigod status and be living a semi normal life, with the caveat of having an awareness that something about themself is off.

Either way, the first arc will be about our characters discovering their godlike nature and learning the depth of the Darkness of Hearts.
