Fantasy Red Hood Society

The soldiers began to drag Tonson back to camp as he was fading in and out of consciousness. Every time he blinked he saw new corpses of both friend and foe alike on the ground and scattered across the battlefield. After what seemed like moments to Tonson, he was finally in base camp, and placed onto a futon in a medical tent. Looking through his blurry vision, he saw multiple medics running around trying to save men in much worse condition than what he was in. He saw a couple of people from his own unit, screaming in agony from the pain they were in, though he could barely hear them. "Rest for now, you are too weak to help them." Exile spoke to Tonson within his mind. Tonson didn't heed his words and struggled to stand, he couldn't bear to see his friends in such pain, and wanted to do something to help them.

Though before he could get up, he was held down by multiple soldiers, and soon enough a medic came his way holding a couple of medical supplies in his arms. "Alright, lay still and we will get you patched up in no time." The medic spoke while smiling at Tonson. Putting down the medical supplies on a nearby table, he immediately began to work on Tonson. The medic stopped the bleeding, cleaned, disinfected, then finally stitched up his wounds, the whole procedure took less then half an hour. The medic ran off to help others, who were being found alive, and the soldiers finally let go of Tonson, who went on to assist in other ways around the tent.

After some time passed, it seems there was no more soldiers being brought in from the battlefield, no more soldiers were being brought back into the camp. Tonson sat up from his futon, and eventually stood onto his feet, though this was only possible thanks to his accelerated healing from Exile. Walking forward slowly, he looked at all the injured men, and eventually walked outside to see things still a bit hectic. Giving a sigh, he walked through and wondered where he needed to go.

Though Syl could not see her from where she was, Red nodded. I will need your help... She flinched at her words. She didn't want to ask this of Syl but at the same time, she hungered for using the one bound to her for the first time in centuries. A follower... Through whom, she could gain more. Maybe even enough to no longer fear the demon the Alpha was bound to. I've decided... that I will fight for the Hoods in this... in addition to protecting my part of the forest... but in order to do so, I will need to regain my old strength. Screwing her eyes shut, Red hoped Syl would connect the dots so she wouldn't have to explain what she meant. How hard could it be to guess? She didn't hide her activities on the battlefield, scooping up the souls of the dead. But she wasn't going to go causing any battles. No, no, she needed contracts... and people took better to chatting with humans than with demons...

The world around her was grey now. She sat on a high branch of a tree with her head against the trunk and her legs crossed atop the branch. Opening her eyes once again, the demon let out a long sigh.
But worry not. I will not let you fall so long as it is within my abilities to watch over you... ...But if we are to go forward with this, I must ask. What do you think of me? ...Don't answer now... give it some time if you need to...

Marius' eagerness to train yet again with him made Ackara appear even more foolish. She has been the one to resist this new order, as if she somehow clung to the fleeting hope of forgiveness. "Listen, Ackara," he began, "the man would like to train. He accepts who he is, but do you? He sees the true enemy, the true evil, and we must fight it. But if you so much as drag your paws, you are on their side. You're not a traitor to your kind, are you? Do you think pups are bad? They depend on you." Perhaps a very convincing argument for the wolf. At least Asher felt that way.

The male approached Marius, smiling and well-ready to train. "Your training today is going to be different that what we've done. I think you're ready for a challenge," he said, "you know, your father... that evil terrible Hood that was your father from birth. He is a human. But a good indicator of your test is this: are you willing to accept the responsibility of turning a human? Do you think you can bring yourself to liberate a human from his skin shell? True, it may not be what you think is right, but yet it is. We all went through it once, but now you need to do it, to give us a better chance. Are the lives of a few hundred better than the extinction of both races? I say yes. I say yes to the many pups that depend on you, Marius."

Asher motioned to the recruit. "If you are strong enough, brave enough, follow me."

Red spoke in her mind, although during this time Honus was speaking to the Special Division Hood and because of this she paid the conversation unfolding little to no mind. The mention of fighting for the Hoods but at a cost made her almost regret the deal she made with Red – no, Raegazel. "So you want more souls...souls like me." Sylvia would murmur unconsciously under her breath. Once realizing she was muttering her thoughts aloud she would snap out of her odd state of mind back to the events at hand.

"Fine. It'll be done." and then the question of what Sylvia thought of Raegazel. In truth after everything she had witnessed on the battlefield, Syl was rather untrusting of the demon. Her hunger for souls was obvious then...just as it was now. Red was a demon...the fact that Sylvia actually thought of her as an ally let alone a friend was insane. They shared a bond through blood – that was all; she had to remind herself of this.

Sylvia was in an odd state of mind. She was pensive and somber amongst the disheartened survivors of the battle. She mourned each loss but carried on, trying to focus on the tasks given to her or the end-goal of their existence. In a way she was trying to find peace before...

Every part of her felt as if something big was about to happen. The Alpha's retreat was a success and that son of a bitch was too tough to die of his injuries and with a demon in his pocket, the Alpha would surely come back stronger than ever. Her gut twists and knots as her thoughts shifted to Asher – what was he doing now?...

Syl snapped out of her mind for a moment, her voice cracking from the hushed and surprisingly feminine tone she spoke in. "I...Wha-What did you want again, Honus?..." Gods what was wrong with her?!

"Asher do not be rude, she is just as eager as I am to seek revenge." Marius stare cold and hard at Asher as he approached. "I am more than ready to teach him a lesson. To get answers, anything from that heartless son of a bitch." He snarled. His fangs itching to sink into the fat man's flesh already. "Take me to him Asher and I will show him the truth. Force him to face it and accept it." He followed Asher without hesitation. Only looking back to say a few parting words to Ackara. "Ackara, I suppose I cannot force you to stay here, but if you follow all I ask is that you remain safe. For the sake of the pups."

Lucius cracked a hysterical smile when he took the letter from his hand and threw it to the ground. "Threaten to pull rank? You cant pull rank of ACTUAL commander now can you."' He said with a smirk. "Anyways, as a commander myself I refuse your orders. Seeing how you are commander only due to the REAL commanders here having been killed in the recent attacks. Now, I'd suggest you shut your arogant mouth before I inform the higher ups from my sector and they completely strip you of your rank and all titles for disobeying a direct order and neglecting a official letter. Maybe if you had read the contents of the letter you would have more sense. But you are a arrogant prick! There is a rare and dangerous beast that is capable of killing every last hood in this damn sector freely roaming through your lands!" He said as his cool began to leave. This old man really was a prick. Arrogant and stupid. The Germmich could easily kill half of the men left here and possibly kill them all. Especially since none of the people there were trained to kill rare and large beasts. "This beast wiped out two elite squads that had been tracking it. And it left only armor and bones for us to find. The tracks lead this way, and maybe if you all could get your damn sector under control you wouldnt be on the brink of extinction with a very capable beast ready to fucking to make that possibility a reality!" He was annoyed. The man had insulted him with the word kid, then attempted to pull rank when he had no authority to do so, and had even discarded a official letter from the highest ranking officials in all of the Hoods. He had heard the girls comment and he sighed "Not special at all. Just different training. Now missy, id say you leave this room so we can discuss the matters at hand and the possible demotion of the man who stands before me before I give you the very disgusting duties that your arrogant friend here requested I do." He said now in a completely calm state. He had no patience for imbosiles and both of the people around him were fools. Letting emotions get in the way of protocol and logic. He may be younger than Honus but he was definitely not some arrogant man who thought he was hot shit like Honus seemed to think.

He would've gladly knocked the shit out of this kid if he had no self control. "Say what you want about arrogance, but I know what I am, kid. What I am is a man who has family that he loves above all else. And I couldn't give two shits about who did what for you. I just lost two out of five of the men in this compound because some wannabe Braveheart decided to charge the dogs and fight in the open field. Something you'd do." There had always been a line of failed leaders. Surely the letter meant it was official, not that Honus cared. Honus was already an officer, something he'd had for four years now. And this kid wanted to assume that he had no basis in his authority, yet he was in someone else's sector complaining about it.

But Syl, oddly enough, continued to have the perplexed look on her face. Even as the argument raged on. "Do you fucking believe this guy?" he mouthed to Syl before turning back. "Oh go ahead, complain to the 'higher-ups,' wherever they are. Even if there was some sort of mystical group that I didn't know about, they'll review everything. And when they hear of your.... threats, maybe they should reconsider the very kind ordainment they gave you." He was beyond anger, it was probably all laughable. Of course, the man had other plans. And he would never talk down to his own troops.

'Oh, that's unfortunate then," Honus retorted, "if you have the courtesy to leave me to my family, she'd be hearing this in a better tone. Syl," he turned to face her. Holding out a piece of metal quite shiny. Immediately, it was recognized to be an officer's pin. "Sylvia Aldrich, you are hereby Second Officer of this keep," he said. This would give him opportunity to leave the male to himself and his letter. He had no experience. He didn't prove himself, well he did, but only to be stupid. And his defensive talk only showed how intimidated he really was.

But Honus ear's perked up at the sound of yet another monster, just kidding. Greenwich, was it? It didn't matter. "You have your troops, I have mine. Unless if you were sleeping and then the letter faerie gave you your promotion, we lost 400 fucking boys to whatever dogs attacked us. I could give less of a shit to your qualms. You have your keep, you don't need to dog me anymore. Send your own boys to die. I have none to spare."

And with that, he turned away from him. "Sorry Syl..." he said, making his way to her. From his pocket, he took out a large lapel. He went up to her and held it in the palm of his hand. "He's not going to leave, so I see no point in doing this. Syl... you're the finest of the Hoods. Samuel he, he would've wanted you to be at this place. Ever since that day you kicked his ass, I'd never been prouder. And look at you now, one of the finest here. Will you accept this commission?"

Lucius sighed "You really are a fool, the reason why I'm here is not to take your men and go hunt the beast, I am here by order of Marshall Commander Mactavish, to train and prepare your men. But so far since I've arrived I've seen a incompetent old fool who is not fit to be a Hood let alone a officer. You're ignorance is only going to end up in this entire sector being wiped out." He stepped forward as he walked away "If you dont remember, I saved your daughter or whatever this Syl girl is to you in the woods not to long back, then I saved your keep from being overrun by rallying the troops that you failed to command. Don't blame me for your failures as both a father and a commander." He spit on the ground, Honus couldnt be more ignorant or stupid. He was contradicting himself, stating he wanted to keep his men alive while rejecting the only way to do so, such a fool. The very fact he didnt know that there were people above his rank made him unfit to lead. "Unlike you I care for those under my command, and my fellow comrades, you may have been a officer, and the only one left of your sector, but you arent even worthy of being a hood, you are a despicable old man and your daughter should be ashamed of your lack of care for the people here. You're comrades are your family, and you clearly arent fit to lead this sector." He was annoyed but he didnt show it anymore, his tone was blank, his emotions only showed when he spoke of how the people there were going to die if Honus didnt smarten up.

Sylvia's body was shaking with rage, her hands balled into tight fists as the young commander threatens Honus with demotion. "Listen here...You best show some damned respect!..." Syl was ignored, as it seemed that this youth was good at doing. The men carried on their argument before Honus would hand her an officer's pin. She was stunned, her dark eyes wide as she stared at the gleaming mark. Her eyes began to water as Honus mentioned Samuel and complimented her. "I-I don't...deserve this Honus..." she choked on her words, mind racing at the possibilities. She could fail...she could get all these people killed... Her eyes shut tightly as Lucius continues to insult Honus to which Sylvia clenches her fist, with badge in hand, and walks over to Lucius. Her dark eyes stared into his for a moment, her breathing the only utterance from her. Until her fist comes cracking across his face. The pin in her hand digs into her skin, causing her to bleed. That pain was little and almost nonexistent compared to how much better she felt after that. Yeah he'd probably dodge it cuz he's some special pro who saw it coming like a mile away but whatever. "Your higher-ups are not here, I don't see them here in the mud, piss, and shit doing a gods damned thing! So, either you change your attitude and respect the Commander of this keep...or you stay the fuck out of our way." Sylvia's eyes were still locked on Lucius even after she struck him. "You can train all the men you want. We'll inform them of your arrival. Don't expect anything else." and with that Sylvia would leave the room, her fist pooled with ruby-red blood. She needed some damn air.

Lucius had seen her clench her fists and he knew what was coming, he wasn't going to fight the girl, he moved his free hand up and used it to defend against her strike her fist would not make contact with him, but her wrist would connect with his as he mad a defensive parry. He listened to her words as relaxed his arm, pushing her fist gently away. He shook his head "Why is it that you both refuse help so badly? I came here politely and tried to inform you of a beast that not only endangers your lives but everyone else in this damn keeps, I defended your keep and rallied your troops, now I warn you and I am belittled and then assaulted. No wonder why this damn place is falling apart." He then let the girl walk out and he looked to Honus "He hand is bleeding, I'd suggest you go take care of that. I'm going to try and fix this mess." He then walked out and headed towards the training yards. He rallied a small group who recognized him from the defense earlier and he explained that he needed them to gather all those who were ready and able to move at this location. When a few looked at him questionably he moved his hand to his chest-plate and just behind it he pulled a commanders pin out and held it up "I am Commander Lucius Martell of the Northern Sector, Rare beast tracking division." He then proceeded to explain the situation to the men who stood around and he gave the order to form even and straight ranks. After that he began the instructions and demonstrations

With those events having occurred and past, Honus, such words stirring so many emotions in him that he couldn't even explain, immediately followed after Syl. He still seemed to cling to her, forcing her to go on in this world, and he wouldn't let go. "Syl I..... Don't let it get to you. He's not entirely wrong. I'm a terrible father, couldn't raise my own son in this world without having the same fate befall him that befell your brother." He seemed to be sincere in his choice of words, not knowing what else to say. The proud keep with its lofty turrets seemed to be crashing down all around him. Would it crush him, our would it pin him until he breathed his last? Maybe she too was trying to escape, escape from everything. How badly everyone wanted something, whether it be attention, honor, a father, the downfall of humanity, the list goes on.

"You deserve this, not because you're my family, but because you're a fighter. I mean what I said when everyone who's been there for you agrees you deserve this. And it's rather fitting too." She perhaps didn't really care for his words, yet he still would greatly supply them for her encouragement. She was mad, and he was simply depressed about it all. Some people just got on his nerves. "We can talk about this, can't we?"

Axeykins Axeykins

"Oh splendid splendid splendid! I knew you had more in you than you previously thought," Asher said, bounding with excitement. Quite soon the wolves would have a very dangerous weapon on their side: dilemma. "Now, Marius, the work we do bears with itself a very... heavy sentiment. Now the question is, before we attack your pitiful excuse for a father, why don't we ensure you won't slip up and remember your false state of security under him? I want you to kill a human for me. As a matter of fact, I'll go with you to a nearby town. Then, when you've done it, only then can you have your revenge." Quite seriously was Asher a psychopath, wanting others to be so devious. His curse was his greatest asset.

But the choice was clear: adhere to the activity or prove himself a coward and his progress utterly worthless. And also, if he managed to do this, not only would he be respected by his peers and be given a sense of respect and adoration he never got from his father, btu perhaps also the alpha may consider him worthy of fighting in the battle to come. Oh it would be so very grand to see! And perhaps with Syl's subsequent death, or maybe even turning and education (as conditioning is too harsh a word), maybe then would there be no further impediments to success.

Sylvia would hear the tail end of Lucius' one-sided conversation. Something about rallying the troops and saving lives. "Tch...Sure... 'I saved your life so you should kiss my arse...you should suck my –'..." she ceased her low-voiced grumbling as Lucius passed by, barely giving him a glance. She watched him exit into the courtyard and proceed to grab some troops and train them. Sylvia would spit onto the ground where he walked, murmuring curses before finally opening her hand to see the bloodied shining medal in her hand. "Fuck..." she would say with a frustrated sigh. The woman would pull the shirt beneath her light armor and attempt to dab away the fresh blood to no avail. "For the gods' sake..." she grumbled once more, still trying in vain to wipe the blood away.

Sylvia hears Honus' voice call out from behind and soon he was next to her, speaking of her supposedly well-earned promotion. Was she ready for this – for the heavy responsibility that came with leadership? "Yeah...We can talk about this." she would say after releasing a deep breath. "This entire cause has been...one big fucking joke..." she says rather lowly, chuckling to herself. "We take a step forward...a big step only to be sent reeling back several steps. This time will be different. We're going to get them, aren't we?...Going to end this all?"

"Forget all about that. As far as I'm concerned, there are other problems that are far more important than the mystical promotion of a highborn to be the king of all the lands." He decided that perhaps everything had been an overreaction, or perhaps an overdramatization. Honus never learned how to read, still hadn't. He didn't know the histories of the great humans or the first werewolves or any of that. But the things he learned weren't taken in by his brain, but by his heart. And first and foremost would be protecting those he loved, not servicing some sort of prestigious kid who got the promotion probably due to connections rather than experience. After all, the figures that always ran the wars had only seen the insides of a board room.

"We're gonna fight them, Syl. That's what's it's always been, just us at the forefront of this fight." He looked towards his left, seeing the crumbled Norman window so typical of defense structures like that. He could see out of the light, the horizon. "Somewhere out there," he began, "I have two sons out there. One more disgusting than the other, but a son nonetheless. One who has a mother that refuses all memories of me, but my son nonetheless." He turned back to her, with a rather perplexed look. "The cause is a joke. The point of it is to get to the punchline, however grim or intoxicating it may be, and that's just it. And perhaps my punchline is going home and getting to meet a kid who never got to see his father."

As Tonson continued walk through the camp, he saw how dark the mood was around him. It was almost as if they gave up on the fight, the cause, the reason they picked up arms in the first place. Standing on a nearby supply box, he realized he couldn't just sit hear and and watch as these men began to wither away in their own despair. He heard them all beginning to murmur as they saw him standing on the supply box shaking a bit, Tonson always hated crowds, though he knew he needed to do this. "Everyone, if I can gather your attention please." He spoke softly at first. None of the men seemed to have heard him, and those that did simply ignored him. "Guys please, if you can just listen to me." He spoke once more just a little bit louder. Though it only resulted in the same results as before. Looking down for a bit, he took in a deep breathe, "Alright everyone, gather around!" He yelled out as loud as he could. Everyone soon walked over, and began to murmur on just what this rookie was about to say.

Some higher ranking men were even angered by the fact that he was speaking to them, though the tolerated it for now. "I have something to say, and it may not be what we want to here, nor what he wish it to be. Though it is the truth of the situation that we are currently dealing with. I see you men around me, and I am disheartened to see that most of you have the look of a broken warrior. One who wishes to no longer fight, and lay down his arms for the enemy to kill. Though I remind you here today that what we went through is nothing but a test to see how resilient we are. To stand by our reasons for fighting, and why we are willing to give up our lives that we so preciously hold dear! We are at the climax of a great war that needs as many able bodies to fight in. To shed blood just so our loved ones can smile at the warming sun. To live in a world where peace is all they know, not the edge of a blade or claw. So I tell you men, don't be discouraged, but keep in your hearts the reason we fight, and let it fuel your passion and hope to keep fighting for that tomorrow." Tonson yelled out with all of might. He saw the men listening to his words, and awaited to see what they would respond. As they looked around and back at him, one man began to yell, "For a new tomorrow!" He roared out, soon enough the rest of the men began to yell with him. Their spirits were beginning to raise, and soon enough Tonson had a smile on his face.

"This cause is all I have besides you, Honus. I don't know what I'll do after...I don't know what I can do after it's all over. Sylvia shakes her head and with it, the depressing thoughts of the future – for all she knew she could not survive he coming fights...Honus too. Another deep breath from Syl and those poisonous thoughts too escaped her mind. Then a boisterous roar echoed from within the camp, the men were cheering...that was a relief. Sylvia softly smiles, it was good to hear the men cheering. "Yeah...we'll get them and then, we'll have our lives back...whatever is left of them. brighter thoughts than what she had been thinking recently. She had some small amount of hope. The demon had caused her to overcome the hesitation with her brother and Honus gave her just enough hope and confidence to see this through to the end – no matter what the end may hold. "We will have our future..." she thought to herself, for probably the first time in her life she was actually looking forward to the future rather than taking everything one day at a time. "So what's our next move?"

Ackara glanced frantically around, trying to figure out who had taken her Marius and replaced him with this. She could stay, but fall risk to the Alpha's command and endangering her pups. Or, leaving could mean being tracked down by the hoods, also bad for her pups. For now, she'd have to stay. Stay at least until she could make a plan. "I want to fight... The alpha is all knowing, so he must know best. If it means killing the hoods, I will follow his command. Let me fight!" She pledged, standing taller with pride in her face.

Honus decided to let loose a smile in her ambition. At once he recognized he had indeed made the right choice. "Well, if I had a proper map I'd show you," he began, "we had too many people seeking glory, fame too. What we need is simple: we ought to remain inside the castle as long as we can. The alpha's eye is gone, I made sure of that, so it won't be hurling boulders as accurate. What we do is simple: we fire upon them from the lofty citadels, burn them alive with cooking oil if they get too close, and we pray to the Gods we are victorious." With the cheering men, surely someone was stirring trouble. As commanders, they of course had the responsibility to investigate. With a sarcastic roll of the eyes, Honus wrongly assumed it to be the pretentious one. "Three cheers for breaking order and forgetting your training," he mocked rather ceremoniously, trying to coax a smile out of her. At once, the male made his way towards the sound.

Sylvia would nod as Honus spoke the plan he had in his mind. "Yes, I'm sorry about...that.", she was referring to when she rushed off in the battlefield against his orders. That was an embarrassing moment, with an awkward throat-clearing she would smile lightly and chuckle as he chastises the men for their lack of order and memory. As soon as Honus approaches the source, Sylvia would follow right behind him. "Can you blame them, Honus? Personally, I think it's good that they have their spirit back...even if for a moment." she smirks and shakes her head, the commanders approaching the crowding men.

"I will not hesitate in this test. That I swear to you Asher. You'll see, I'll serve the Alpha well." He grinned eagerly. Looking from Asher to Ackara. "It will be great to have you at my side in this Ackara! Together we will be unstoppable! Nullify these scars on my face and gain the Alpha's trust for good! The filthy humans will not know what hit them! Especially my father, he will be the first to truly pay.. Death won't be enough for him. ooooh no. He must see the truth first hand, see what he's done and finally learn some fucking respect and acceptance!" Marius declared. His canines lengthening as he became eager to seize revenge against Honus for every last bit of suffering he caused. "Let us go quickly Asher! The sooner I tackle this task the sooner I can go say hello to father."

Asher decided to smile widely, knowing that maybe Marius had finally gotten it. "Your task begins now, Marius. Come with me." And with that, Asher led off in the direction of the village, an isolated hut complex too far away from anyone else. Here, peasant women spun garb in peace while children played down by the river, wading in it and splashing. The men were out in the fields plowing, those that were not members of the Hoods. They were so peaceful, yet about to be so far from it. "Now Marius, Ackara," Asher began as they made their approach, "here's my offer. Kill a human, turn a human, and show to me above all you're not afraid and not a subservient being. Do this, and surely you will have your revenge."

Nobody thought any the wiser, but maybe they needed some extra encouragement. "You know, Marius, I heard word from a spy that Honus' son lives here, the human one. He'd make such a fine wolf, wouldn't he? And his wife... she'd make very good lunch. At least I think so. If you can do this, then we can attack your father."

Of course, what good was spirit when it defied the natural order? Maybe Honus had grown a bit jealous in that moment, as usually he'd say something. But he couldn't. Maybe therein was the difference of man. While one held himself to such conceit that he demanded others to follow, another perhaps coaxed his fellow soldiers to bravery. And surely he'd seen both. "With so many lost today, I'd take anything. This cause it, it's not maintained by the Gods alone. There are people with souls that serve this machine, driving it forward so as we may survive. I'd like to talk with this man, learn about him. He might be of use to us. And surely I won't force him to do latrine duty," he joked yet again, trying to get his beloved to laugh. "If you'd be so kind as to... I don't know... tell him that Honus Carter and Syl Aldrich wishes to talk with him, he'd surely oblige."

Tonson began to enjoy the moment, and was cheering with his fellow soldiers. Many of them were giving him a pat on the back, and soon enough he even began to gain compliments on the speech he gave. He didn't notice the commander walking towards them, and honestly he couldn't care. He didn't do this because he wanted to gain favor or to be noticed by the higher ups, he did this because he knew it was the right thing to do. He was happy to know he was able to make the faces that he saw smile, even if it was for only moment.

His ears perked up at the hint of Honus' son and ex-wife possibly being in this small village. "Go ooooon. He would make a fine wolf indeed. Point me in the direction and I shall take care of this rat. As for the woman." he looked back at Ackara eagerly. Slowly shifting into his massive wolven form. "She will feed our pups for weeks. The most tender and sweet of meats, it will make them good and strong."

Sylvia would smile at that, Honus was being more...open more...relaxed? He spoke frankly about the cause, about the work they do and he was right. the huntress would nod, her cheerful expression dimming just a bit and then mentioned it: Latrine duty. Sylvia would smile and almost lose her control – nearly bursting out into laughter amidst the gathering crowd.

The two commanders would find the man who gave the speech rather easily as everyone was giving him pats on the back and other congratulatory gestures. "Try not to inflate his ego too much now, gentlemen." Sylvia would comment before standing before the soldier. The men would scatter like roaches – partially of fear of Sylvia but mostly of Honus who usually had a stick up his arse half the time. The young man was a new face to be sure, or at least a face she did not recognize. Her eyes scan along Tonson's body – the way he carries himself, the way he handles the attention, and of course his physical health were just some of the things she observed. She had seen him before, in the courtyard stumbling about in a confusion but it was a brief moment and she didn't even speak to him. {Hope you don't mind this!} "Have you recently recovered, soldier?" she would ask rather to-the-point.
