Fantasy Red Hood Society

"I said I am sorry you old bastard. My temper got the best of me. Besides, I didn't hit you that hard anyway." He hissed venomously. Retracting his hand as the dish was smacked from it. "That thing out there is not and never will be my alpha. I will gouge my own eyes and ears out if it means resisting it's call. It disgusts me. More than that infant assaulter you continually praise without question. If that is what the Hoods have become it's going to be a very bloody war with two losing sides. You may not have been there but you have enough pull to stop this." he grabbed the least bloodied towel he could find to clean the mess of liquid off of the floor. "I'm your son by blood whether you like it or not and I am not leaving. This is MY house now Honus. It would be wise to show a little respect for that...you're free to leave whenever you like or stay as long as you need to so long as you stop acting like such a stubborn ass and leave us alone...I'm too tired to keep fighting like this with you."

He was really pushing his nerves. Absolutely he was pushing every boundary of restraint with his fallacious repetitive argument. "Oh yeah sure, look at you, Marius to hero, determined to do something to himself for himself. But when it comes to anyone else, even his own father, he's willing to put himself at a higher pedestal!" He was quickly rejustifying everything in his own head as a result of his son's stupidity. "You don't know what she's gone through on a account of your kind. She's only that way because you sick fucks broke her down so badly that she had nothing else! And look at this, your fucking house? Oh what, did you have Harken killed too? Is that what you did? She's not ever coming back, is she? Do you think I even remember what you did to Rhykad the bowman yesterday? God you're insufferable, wanting to have peace between the species, but at the same time you still put up a fight!" Honus sat back down on the bed, quite uncalm. But then he heard voices from the outside, perhaps Ackara had killed Syl like Marius killed Rhykad and perhaps Harken too.

"I can fill out paperwork to have you listed as dead, and thus free of all obligation to inherit anything or to call me your father. After all, I'm just an 'old bastard,' or a 'Hood.' Since you only seem to proclaim your love whenever it makes you feel like the better one, why do it at all?"

More wolves soon jumped in, though their actions in vain, my attack that was meant for the leader soon met with one of the wolves. With one down, two more soon surrounded me, though not for long. Moving faster than they can react, I dashed behind one of them and slice it in half with one swing. Then something drastic began to happen.

"Someone is stealing the souls, Be careful with the amount of power you use now. Every little will be needed to win." The scythe spoke.

Snapping back into the action, the final wolf quickly pounced, though was met with the point of the scythe. Caught in the blade, I lifted the beast high for all to see. Jumping into the air, I slammed it down with all my force. Landing directly on its chest, I killed the beast from the force. I saw it soul in front of me, though it went into the air and to some thing who began to suck all from the battlefield.
All the souls practically screaming as they were all absorbed, never to be seen again.

"Oh, is something the matter? Not the only demon on this battlefield?" Draven grinned. Making his advance on the Hood. Nails extending to long wicked claws. "You've fared well against my slaves. Let's see how well you do against me now hm? I will even place nice and go easy against you for now. Give you somewhat of a chance."

He flashed large dagger like fangs at the hunter before charging. It was time to draw blood with his own hands. Tear into this Hunter's flesh and then move on to his comrades. They would learn the hard way to fear the wolves once more.

"I am trying to keep you and the other Hoods from being slaughtered Honus. Prevent something like what happened to that woman again. Keep you from pinning us all as mindless, heartless killers for the actions of a few." His head and shoulders drooped. Each accusation and insult digging in like a dagger in his chest. "Harken handed me the key as she rushed off for important business. And I am not sure what happened to your bowman. I don't remember encountering one." He replied quietly. "Why would you think I would kill the person who helped us so kindly. I've only killed one human in my life and that was in desperation for food and still regret that greatly. My old pack's one goal was better relations or at the very least keeping to ourselves." His gaze was locked onto the ground.
"Go ahead and fill out that report. It won't do much good. To the Hoods and anyone I knew when human I've been dead a long time. And was never listed as your son anywhere as far as I know. There's nothing to inherit, no place to go back to and I would be killed by the Hoods even if I tried. This house and these infants...this is all I have left. If you want to take that away too, be my guest. It's not like I can actually do anything to stop you."

I stopped listening to his words, all I saw was his movements. It seems he was finally fighting himself. His movements were faster then the others, much faster, though not fast enough. "Don't be so foolish" I spoke while sidestepping his movements, and swinging my scythe at his chest. I put as much power as I could, so if I miss I would continue spinning into my next attack aimed for his head, and if I hit then lucky me.

Draven dodged the first swipe and let the second catch his neck. Only enough to draw a line of blood. "Foolish? Ha! You'll have to try harder than that Hood. You and your little magic scythe. Much harder." He sneered. Unleashing a flurry of attacks to show off his speed. Or rather a taste of it. In this current form he was nowhere near his true potential. "Show me what you can really do already maggot!"

His endurance was above average, though sadly for him, I added no energy to the blade. This meant it was as dull as a spoon, the fact it cut at all though was impressive. As I broke away from my thoughts , multiple attacks came my way, at impressive speeds. I quickly parried what I could, but was forced to get cut from a few. Once the pattern was down, I fell into the rhythm and began to throw in a couple strikes as well, this time filling the edge of the scythe with enough energy to cut through even the toughest hides.

Draven hissed as the blade sliced through his skin several times. "Finally, making the fight worth while for me." He grinned at the Hood. Wiping the blood from his wounds and licking his hands. "But let's up the challenge shall we?" A low rumble echoed through his chest as his height and mass increased considerably. A bright silver fur covered his body, his ears and fangs lengthened and claws sharpened further. Only his partial form, but far stronger than he was moments ago. With a loud roar he charged forward again. Faster and stronger than before.

Lucius watched the girl gonand he looked to the men. They had rallied. He began to form men up at the gap, a small force would be able to hold the breach easily due to the enclosed area. Once he reinforced the breack he commanded archers to the remaining walls and gave the order to fire at will. Quickly he looked to the mass of infantry that he had left. He divided them into portions stationing them at the main gate and small patches of them on the walls. Once he had finished giving placements for them he smile and looked. The defence was formidable, at least for the numbers they had. It was then from the main gate that he had most of the hoods stationed at where he spotted it. The Alpha, it towered over the others. And he smirked. Spear in hand he rushed towards it. Taking four hoods with him. It was always best to go with a team. They arrived just as the Alpha began to change form. Growing larger with silvery fur. He bit his lip as he turned to the four hoods that followed him. He quicjly ordered them back, this fight would only end with their deaths. Lucius looked to the man with the scythe and he spun his spear in his hands quickly. It was clear he was highly skilled with the spear. Lucius also had a sword on his hip, but not your standard longsword. It was a bastard sword. A perfectly balances blade meant for quick strong attacks. Able to be wielded in one or two hands. He spoke in a lighthearted tone "Hey, you know its not very smart to take on a alpha by yourself." He then looked to the Alpha "And its not nice for you to go on ruining lives." He chuckled as he took a defensive stance. Ready for anything.

I looked to the man with a death in my eyes, "You join, and I'll kill you myself!" I roared loudly shaking nearby trees. Looking back to the Alpha, my blood lust was an all time high. "He isn't at full strength yet, keep holding back save your energy." The scythe urged, as I battled with the Alpha. Though being distracted costed me, getting swiped by one of his attacked was painful. Though nothing that would kill me. His movements were finally on par with mine...for now. I didn't hesitate to up the pace. Waiting for the right moment, I threw a vertical slash upwards at the Alpha's leg.

"Oh don't pretend you have clue what you did," he said rather angrily, "Rykhad, Harken and I were on patrol earlier, when we encountered a werewolf clawing into someone. We chased it deep into the forest, where we killed it and spared your life. And somehow, you being the one werewolf ANY of us encountered, he died. So don't you lie about what you did. Don't you lie to me that you're a morally clean dog who happens to be so elegant that every magical action you do is somehow for the best, for 'saving'. And look at you now, claiming this house to be yours! Now how about you explain to me how you can make that claim? And the only way that that makes sense to me is that Harken is dead and you know it."

All the conversation was at this point was incessant arguing tht seemed to drone on. Honus had gotten his point across, and surely the discussion had not gone well for either of them. And Honus had a war to fight, while Marius certainly had to figure himself out. "If you care so much about being alive, you must pick a side in this fight. It makes one human to do so, and perhaps if you have any humanoid being left in you... playing both sides in this fight might save you, but it will hardly make you a good person."

The man suddenly heard the approaching footsteps from outside. Perhaps it was a Hood who needed Harken's services. Too bad that she was dead. "Goodbye, my son."

"I never have Honus. I'm only doing what any other would am trying to be the best version of myself." He looked back at him with a somber expression. "I had nothing to do with your bowman, I attacked none of you and I swear on my life Harken left for other matters. She handed me the key herself and left with her raven. Why is it so hard to believe me." His eyes welled up. "I never wanted to choose a side in this war and still don't. Only avoid it all and live on peacefully outside of all the fighting but sadly that fighting came right to us. Starting with my mate and Alpha..." His head snapped away again as pain filled his face. "Goodbye father. If you or anyone need medical assistance come here. I'm no witch but I know medicine well. I can help."

Draven let out a tiny yelp as the Hood managed a good sized gash in his leg. "Nice strike vermin. You're getting better." He chuckled. His attention traveling to another approaching. "I suggest you listen to your friend. Ha. I'll even be nice and give you and your ilk a chance to get good distance between us. You'll need it for what is in store here. And it will make things more fun once I eliminate your friend." He grinned madly.

The injured man made his way to the door of the hut, quickly desiring to leave behind his sick son. He could no longer stomach to be in the house anymore, to deal with Marius, who had so much conceit for himself wrapped in a shallow sense of care. Yet it was a transparent appearance, and Honus saw directly through it. But as he exited, he saw her. "Syl..." he said, rushing to her as quick as he could. His head hurt slightly, ironically the same way Marius' head had sometimes hurt. But that was the dog. "Syl!" he said, making his way up to her, "Syl I.. I'm sorry about everything. I should've told you about it."

I was in anger, "Give me a worthy fight already, use all of your power." I yelled. A black and white mist began to secrete from my armor. It was my sweat mixing in with the energy of the scythe. I gripped my scythe tightly, "Calm down, Yes we can get his soul soon!" Both sides of the voice yelled in my head. I caught my breathe in the brief moment of talking.

The huntress stopped as Red revealed her own family issues, it was a tale similar to her own...but rather than monsters they were humans. Her mind pushed forth the memory of when she burned the babies with the silver ring and how Honus smacked it out of her hands and yelled at her. She didn't give a damn about Honus' son, Marius, just another mutt in this dark world of theirs. But for Honus to stop her...was she really that monstrous?

"I'm...sorry about your brother." Sylvia quietly spoke, she was deep in thought at the fact that Red and her were not so different. Sylvia would look Red in the eyes, just before she shifted into a cat, and ask her a question. "What did you do to them?" she asked the demon, it was obvious that this being was quite old...hell she confirmed it – but whether or not the demon acted upon her brother's death or not was to be determined by her age and experience and the hood was curious. Red shifted into a white cat which made Sylvia smile a bit but that smile would fade as she heard a familiar voice call out to her.

Her eyes turned to gaze upon the man who was making his way towards the two, eyes widening slightly at the fact that Honus sought her out by his own free will. She noticed he was in pain, then again it wasn't like he was trying to hide it. "What, did your mutt of a son bore you already?", she questioned bitterly as he came over. Then when he apologized she would narrow her eyes at him, he seemed dizzy and disoriented. "You got pretty banged up...Any blows to the head?..." she asked him, she had to know because there was no way that stubborn old Honus would apologize to anyone – at least that's how she saw him.

With a sigh the young woman would pinch the bridge of her nose, trying to calm the typhoon of emotions under the facade of minor frustration. "I have half a mind to tell you to sod off and go back to playing house with your 'son' and his young plaything.", she spoke harshly, though her evaluation of the relationship between Ackara and Marius was incorrect. "Then the other half is screamin' at me to return you to the fold, to help you deal with this...", Sylvia lost her words as she thought back to Asher she was drawing parallels to Honus and her own sad tale. "Would you mind leaving us for a bit?" she sent this thought to Red before another sigh escaped her lips.

Honus half-expected such terrible words directed at him. She was certainly opposed to the idea of having someone other than herself involved in his life. And it was also surely disturbing to know that Marius was a werewolf, and Honus was seemingly betraying the cause. "Syl..." he said, a tad disheartened, "You know how much I care for you, You know that i-" he didn't know what to even tell her. Would he say that her actions were wrong? Or her actions were for the best?

"He's my son, and there's no way around that. I can't kill him, and I can't have you kill him. But he did something to Harken... to Rykhad... something he's not telling me I"

The man wasn't making any sense. Maybe he should've had that potion. Just then, in a sudden burst of affection, he grabbed Syl and hugged her, trying his best to show his love. "You're alive, and that's all I care about..." he said, hoping to make the situation less awkward. He just loved Syl, and even though she wasn't related to him by blood, she was all he had. It had been too terrible of a week,

Don't be ashamed of your actions, Red replied hollowly. We're all monsters here... I razed the village, killed its people... and the priest... I tortured him until he surrendered his soul. She didn't sound like she regretted it, but her tone certainly wasn't one of enjoyment at the memory. Like I said, the demon repeated, we're all monsters here. It's just a question of which monsters are going to win.

As the pair made their way to the cabin and the other Hood stepped out- obviously injured enough that he should be lying down, Red adopted a decidedly more catlike behavior than her confident striding previously.

Yes, I'll leave you two be. As always, call if you need anything, alright? ...If your friend isn't doing so hot either, I could offer a temporary fix. Excuse me, Aldrich.

Red flicks her tail and blinks a few times, then flinches suddenly, splicing. The cat, respecting Syl's privacy but still acting in true cat fashion, folds her ears back and yawns, feigning boredom that only the greatest species in the world could express, before curling her tail and bounding off toward the cabin. She presses her nose to the door and nudges it open, glancing about. Taking in the space and wrinkling her nose, Red spots Marius. And damn did he reek of dog...

Meanwhile, a larger portion of her form (it didn't take all that much to be a cat so she only left a small part of herself there) soared up over the forest and toward the battlefield. Maybe talking about her past triggered something, maybe it was just that her hunger came in waves. And she hungered for something powerful. Common werewolves and humans were enough to remind her stomach that yes, it did indeed exist, and yes, it was very very hungry. The demon was a glutton for souls...

The hooded figure landed on the battlefield close to the battle with the werewolf and the scythe-Hood. The soul-thief. A human with a weapon almost as hungry as her. The demon hung back. While a fight would certainly get her in the mood for a meal, Red wanted to see what this human could do, if anything, to the alpha. She wondered if she smelled any different to the alpha. Some hundred or so years ago, a gifted warlock told her she smelled of death.. not reeking death, no. The cold kind that gave you shivers and brought only to mind the sense of a pressing darkness. An odd smell, she would admit. She wondered if the Alpha would pick it up... meanwhile, their fight continued. Red stayed poised, ready for action.

Her body tenses as Honus spoke of Marius in such a way, it enraged her for him to even consider Marius a family member – this is where they differed. Honus would approach Sylvia, his arms wrapping around her tightly in an embrace and in response Sylvia didn't move; she couldn't breath and it wasn't because he was crushing her lungs. Her body trembles in his embrace and though she wouldn't sob she was crying again, a deadpan expression on her face.

She loved him too and yet she couldn't even return his hug, to return his physical admission of his love for her. When his arms would fall from her body she would quickly turn away, not keen on showing him that she was crying. Her throat was tight and her heart was racing and she got it under control before speaking. "You accept him even though you gave him up as a babe? Then, ALL these years later he comes back into your life and you just...", she stopped, unable to put her thoughts into words. "And I'm sure you hadn't given him a second thought after you gave him up." Family...Family made everyone weaker. The emotional ties between humans is what gives them strength...and also leads to their downfall. "He was there...", she was referring to Asher. "And just like you...I couldn't kill him – again." she would scoff and shake her head. "But there's a clear difference between you and I Honus...", she would turn to face him for this insult. "I don't have a delusion that everything will eventually be okay. I have had two chances to kill Asher and I couldn't because of the older brother I knew...it MUST be done and I KNOW that."

"The Hoods WILL find out and when they do...you will be marked as a traitor and your happy little family will be hunted down just like any other pack. You, Marius, Ackara, and your precious grand-children...", the bitter woman would look away from Honus now. She had no remorse these cruel bitter words were a way for her to distance herself further from her emotional ties to people – yet she still had yet to do the same for her dear older-brother.

"All of my power?" He cocked his head to the side curiously. "Oh alright, since you keep insisting on it." A wicked grin spreading across his face....morphing into a horrid snarl as his body twisted and changed. The once small and sleek form of the man that stood before these Hoods was replaced by a gigantic wolf. His shoulders alone reaching far up into the tree tops.
"Is this what you wanted mortal?" He roared. Causing birds to flee and the ground to shake ever so slightly. Pelt of pure silver glinting in the light of the morning sun and eyes burning with the lust for blood. The wolves around him bowed their heads to his might. Without giving this Hood any warning his charged again. Despite his size, the beast hadn't lost a single bit of speed, rather, gained even more on top of his incredible strength.

" I could care less about his mistress and bastard children. They are of no relation. But he could've killed me, he's breaking his own curse, but know that I myself am loyal to the Hoods. But I can't have him die," he said, rather torn on the situation. It never truly occurred to him that their situations were so similar, how their lives were so the same. But Honus was trapped in a state of mercy, of betraying his cause or his family.

The news about Asher surprised him, She always talked about killing her turned brother, but she never could do it. That first time, he remembered. She could not do it because, like him, she put her notion of family first. "It wasn't my choice to give him up. I was young and poor, and there were rules I had to follow. I had no choice, no money. I wanted a better life for him than what he had; he didn't deserve to be raised by a young father who had nobody. My parents were so furious about it all too. And the mother..." he stopped the subject short of the mother, surely a subject that Marius himself had no idea of other than the lied he had told about her. He too was nearly in tears.

"He took me away from the fight and patched me up. But at the same time, he talked about how much he hated you and I."

"What SENSE does that make Honus?! You fight for the Hoods and yet you can't bear to even think about your son being killed by a Hood. What will you do then? Kill any Hood who threatens your boy or live out the rest of your days in hiding?" Syl's expression was slowly becoming angrier, especially when Honus mentioned that Marius saved him...only to bad-mouth Honus and the Hoods. "He SHOULD hate us, actually he should FEAR us! Did you stop to think that he will never fully trust you as long as you're a Hood? Just as I don't think I can ever place my trust in you whenever he's involved." She was tired of saying his name, just gracing the mutt with a human name made her want to cut her own tongue.

"You can't dance atop the line forever Honus...You're going to have to choose a side – choose between him and I." Sylvia was done talking about Marius and family...she reaches into a small pouch that was cinched around her belt. Her hand came back with a collection of soggy herbs, which she promptly gave to Honus. "They're bitter as your boy but they should help..." in a way this was her wat of apologizing, that or her own weird way of expressing that she still cared about the stubborn old man even if he was foolish.

The roar of the Alpha struck him again. Resonating with every primal instinct within and towards the door. He wasn't even aware of it until the wail of a pup caught his ear. Fighting the urge with every ounce of what willpower he had left he pulled himself away. Stuffing cotton into his ears again to block it out. If it was deafened he could resist more. "Shhh shh. I'm here....d....no no...Uncle is here." He reached over to pick up Annabeth. Only to retract his hand at the slightest feel of the babe. He just couldn't bring himself to do it, the child needed him but. Whatever, whoever he got attached to always left or....
"I....I'm sorry young one. I don't know what to do. I don't know what you need and I can't." The words and emotions caught in his throat. The thought of what could happen, no, would happen. It had to, it always did. Dragging him farther down the abyss. "I can't do this." He choked out. "I...I'm sorry. I'm sorry...please forgive me, I don't mean for any of this." He dropped down to the floor, head tucked between his knees as the weight of it all crushing him into nothing but a pathetic heap on the ground as the children he was left to care for wailed and the war outside raged. He was utterly worthless.

"FINALLY!" I roared out louder then before, raw energy began to form around me, darkness and light soon morphed into shapes. Wings grew from my back and thorns grew all around me in that one instance. Charging back at the Alpha, at the first sign of clash, a massive sound wave broke through the battlefield. Every hit was one that meant certain death for anyone who interfered. I yelled loudly as I kept up with the massive beast. Then I began to pour even more energy into all my attacks, instead of using souls, blood from all around the battlefield began to surround me, increasing my abilities by two fold on top of the power increase of releasing my power. "Condition complete: The soul of a champion!" The scythe yelled, in before I knew it I was soon yelling as loud as I could, making ever strike send a wave of powerful energy along with it that shined brightly throughout.

Honus was quite defensive of his actions, knowing truly he was caught between two sides, and he had said the same thing to her. "You don't know how this works, Syl. He's my son, and I can't help but believe that one day there might be a cure. Hope is all I have for him! I don't know, I just can't. If someone else does it, I understand. But I- I'm torn Syl. One way or another, I am a terrible Hood or a terrible father."

The alpha's roar echoed through the whole forest loudly, scaring the buzzards from the tree and sending leaves to the ground. Honus looked to the battlefield, and knew that the fight had still gone on. "I want there to be something in him that was my son, and I'm trying so very hard to find it. You did the same thing with your brother, but that's what makes us different from them. We try to keep families whole, they tear them apart."

The male took the bitter greens and immediately chewed them, feeling the familiar taste in his mouth. He reserved the fact that Marius had given him the same. "I need to get back out there, to help my men fight this curse off. If you want to pout at me for what I've done, then go ahead. Then I have nobody."
