Erika shrugged " I didn't know. I've never been shot before. I mean I've gotten into knife fights and I haven't gotten infections in those before," she said touching the scar on her cheek. " Well then again they are two different things," she said putting her hand on her chin.
"Yeah. One, you don't have metal things staying inside you as much. Two, said metal thing is much harder to get out." He told her as he started to bandage the wound.
" Yeah but neither of them hurt that bad though," she said watching him bandage her injury. " Can I ask you something...about Jacob," she said looking at her lap.
" Why is he so quiet? I mean I asked him questions on the way here and well he either took forever to respond or he didn't respond at all," she said looking over at Jacob. " Another thing. Why didn't he kill me and why did he help me?" she asked crossing her arms. " Is this too many questions?" she questioned looking back at him.
"We don't know, I don't know, and no." He responded. "Best not to question it. Your arm is good, so you can go frollick in the fields." The man told her, sitting down.
D****** it," Zhi growled, struggling to find his bearings.
He was fine, still intact, his blue kimono was a little tattered at the hem but otherwise was fine , his silk shawl to was intact. His pony tail was whipping around in the dust filled wind and Zhi felt a cough escape his lips. Zhi figured he should count his blessings though, if he hadn't put up the emergency procedure and didn't jump out of that plane he would have been dead. Traveling for diplomatic reasons Zhi thought he had it all planned out, the route he was taking was a blind spot for other world powers stationed here, however while on the plane Zhi figured out the man piloting was a double agent, as a safety measure he tapped into the transmissions and it turned out the man was piloting him to an American base camp. He killed them man but it turned out his pilot had put safety measures as well because he rigged the plane so auto pilot could not be accessed and all communication was mysteriously 'malfunctioning.' Not knowing how to pilot a plane Zhi did the only thing he could do, jump out and parachute his way down. Sure he was an open target but it was better than dying in a plane crash plus he was pretty sure the plane had a tracking device anyway, better to ditch the evidence. Besides now that he thought about it, the pilot was probably going to use the cover story of a plane crash to cover his disappearance.
Now he was stuck in the middle of nowhere, a barren wasteland, Zhi knew he should find cover soon but he honestly had no idea where to start. For once in his life Zhi was at a loss, he had no supplies, no coordinates as to where he was, and no way to contact anyone. Think Zhi, you are not dying today...
" I don't frolic! I travel and collect things...Trying to find someone....Trying to find my family," she said looking down. She sighed and stood up " Well I should go....Thank you for treating my injury," she started packing up her bag. She put her gas mask back on and looked at the man " Again thank you," she with a smile he couldn't see.
Erika nodded " Of course. I'll be more careful next time! I'm just gonna bid my farewell to Jacob then I'm off," she said walking over to Jacob who was reading a book. " Hey Jacob I just wanted to say bye and thanks for not killing me!" Erika said before turning and walking away. Well now that that's done I can head back on my trip! She thought as she began skipping.
" Why am I saying bye? If so then, I have places to go and people to find just like I told the nice man who treated my wound," she said still skipping. " Besides there's no point in being a burden or a bother," she said looking at him. " No use in staying," Erika said looking forward again." If you're asking why am thanking you it's because I'm still alive to do what I need to do."
" I'm not a bother yet! But I when I get to know a person they seemed to get annoyed with me," she said as she stopped skipping but began walking again. " Merchants get tired of me within 5 seconds," she said turning to him. She stopped walking and raised an eyebrow " Uh, why are you following me?" she said waiting for an answer.
"Okay...Well if you're coming. Then be prepared for getting in to trouble! Also me nagging about being tired and setting up camp too early. If you're not then I bid you a farewell," she said as she began walking again. She soon stopped seeing a figure not too far from where they were. " There's someone out there," Erika said looking back at Jacob.
" Let's see who it is," Erika said looking back at the figure. She started running towards the figure " Hey!" Erika yelled running faster. " Hey!" she yelled again before she stopped in her tracks waiting for a response.
Zhi was almost at his wits ends, being stuck in the middle of nowhere as the result of jumping out of a plane can do that to even the most rational person. I guess I should start walking, find some shelter, and esses this situation more closely... That is until he saw a figure rapidly approaching his area. From the looks of the figure it was a female with long silver hair. Now from what he could see the girl seemed to be non hostile, seeing as she blindly called attention to herself by yelling and running. However it could be an act, but it didn't look forced. Deciding to test his theory Zhi put on his best 'lost and frightened' look before running up to the girl.
"Oh thank goodness I found someone, I thought I'd be stuck here forever," Zhi exclaimed.
Looking farther back Zhi saw a rather imposing figure. That person could be a threat, I should tread carefully...
Erika looked amazed that he actually didn't avoid her " I really don't know what to say...How long have you been out here?" she asked putting her hands on her hips. " Are you from one of China's territories?" she looking at his attire " You sure look like it," she smiled at him." If you want you can come with me and possibly one another if Jacob wants to tag along," she said turning around and walking back to Jacob. " He doesn't talk much by the way so don't expect much conversation," she turning her head to look at him.
"Oh I've been here for hours I think! I thought for sure I was going to keel over," Zhi replied. "And yes how did you know! Let's see...you look like you're from...Russia?"
Zhi knew the girl was from Germany by her accent but in this case it was better to play dumb, he didn't want to show his cards until he was forced to. Getting a good look at the girl she had ruby red eyes and a pale complexion. Personality wise she seemed innocent, bright eyed, and trusting, the perfect type of person Zhi could use to get his way out of this mess.
"I would love to accompany you two, thank you so much, by the way you wouldn't happen to have any water would you?" Zhi asked.
As parched as Zhi, if the girl had water, which he assumed by the indication of her heavy backpack, he wouldn't drink it. He just wanted a good look at her supplies without seeming suspicious, maybe see if she had any weapons or a means of communication. Looking at the other man who walked a little farther ahead he made a mental note to try and figure out if the man would be a problem...he certainly looked dangerous.
