Personal backlash rarely solves anything. I'm certain, whatever the situation is, those being pranked know their friends well. Or those pranking others

Absolutely! Pranking is one thing, but forcing lifelong changes on someone’s body crosses a serious line

It depends on what type of prank. There are some in good fun among friends but then you have 'pranks' that are harmful against unsuspecting people by idiots. In that case, yes, backlash and whatever consequences follow are solely on the responsible party.
