Elysium

Nuts
Remnant is growing darker.

The Grimm have become more active in the wake of extremist activities worldwide. Governments are on edge, trying to find out what exactly is going on while keeping the citizens happy and safe. Disturbing reports and rumors fly. A serial killer is on the loose, and people have gone missing.

The threads holding the world as we know are starting to tear from the strain, and who knows how long until the seams burst entirely.

But that won't stop the daily grind. Kids are still going to school, and adults are still going to work. And a new year is starting at the most prestigious huntsman academy, Beacon.

Little does anyone know that Beacon may just be where the aforementioned strained threads finally snap. Hopefully the future champions of Remnant are up to it, if such a thing come to pass.

"Greetings, new students. Old students, please be patient, I'll be done shortly.

My name is Professor Ozpin. I am your headmaster here at Beacon, and, due to some setbacks and troubling rumors, I teach on occasion as well.

I will not lie to you, because you chose this. You have a right to know. Those rumors of increased Grimm and White Fang activity, worldwide? True. All of it.

But the wide world has you. Future champions in dark times. Rays of sun penetrating the darkest clouds. My job is to teach, as is the rest of the faculty. Yours is to learn, and grow.

We've had to make several changes, I'm afraid. Our student council president, Eisen Wren, can inform you of what changed after we're done here.

With that...

We're done. Enjoy the rest of your night. Classes start tomorrow."

Eisen Wren

The aforementioned student president sighed heavily when Ozpin mentioned his name, and waved at the crowd when Ozpin gestures in his direction. He knew this was coming, but come on did the guy really have to call him out on it? Oh well I suppose this was his job as student council president. He sighed and stood up, when Ozpin dismissed them. Either no one was going to give a rat's ass, or everyone was going to hunt him down for answers.

Why did he become president again? He couldn't remember. Probably some reverse psychology shenanigans from Venus.

It was such a shame that they didn't get put on a team together. Anyway, where was that woman? If he was going to be hounded all day, then so was she, as his fellow council member.

He shot her a text as he navigates through the crowd. Eisen saw Eleanor, but didn't try to get her attention. The used to be teammates, up until this year. Now they were leading a pack they knew nothing about, to go fight monsters of any variety.

The traffic jam lessened as he got out into the open-air breezeway/courtyard. A light autumn wind rustled his untidy black hair. Gray eyes peered through black framed glasses as he examined every student around him.

Eisen took a look at his scroll. Ozpin had sent all the third years the student pictures and names for their new wards.

"Madeline Daygem... Rowan- I know who that is... Siiva ex Machina..."

He mumbled the two females names over and over as he committed the pictures to memory.

Now he had to find them. Although as long as they could find the announcement board with room listings, he'd see them eventually.

Now, where the hell was Venus?

The two white bunny ears poked up between the crowd of people which moved around her like a stormy sea, Ozpin had just finished up his presentation and she was not enjoying this crowd one bit. Not for the fact that they were all but mushed together for some reason, there was plenty more room but for some people that didn't seem to be a plausible ideal so they stood there in this mushed up stature, where you were overlapping the person beside you. It was warm and she could see a few people starting to sweat so she made haste to move to the outside of the cluster and gaze at everything from afar.

She saw a tendril of people heading off towards the court-yard area and others towards what looked to be a display of some form, she felt something in her mind telling her to go and check out the display. When you got the feeling of self-reliance and you trust what you think you tend to follow it to a T if at all possible, and if it's not then well... you would just need to try and find another method to get around it. That was her opinion at least, as she approached she noticed that most people would look at the board for a moment then go off and start grouping up with other people, or even yell out the names of the people on the board that held their own.

Before long there she was stationed in front of the board and examining for her name, she saw something about Tango Pink and looked at it, the letters next to it stood out to her "T.. N.. P.. K?" She murmured all the while watching to see the information following up with it. This intrigued her since the letters were together so well, her mind went to that of her brother. A small frown indented the corners of her lips, it held itself softly there before returning to that of a face that represented nothing more then neutrality in itself. She followed to where her name was and read the rest of them to herself before hitting the room number and immediately getting stumped, "How do they expect me to find that one room on this huge campus" She said softly before walking away from the board a little ways so others could replace her spot and see their own names.

--Siiva Ex Machina--
(Open to anyone!)

As the speech ended, Siiva was the one of the first people to head out of the gymnasium. Siiva was one of the first years in Beacon, hailing from Atlas. She was clad in a blue coat and skirt, though parts of her combat outfit can be seen such as the grey tights and gloves. She wasn't exactly human, and she's trying her hardest to keep it hidden. Her first course of action is to find the Team she was assigned in and the room they're staying at.

After a few moments of walking, she spots a bulletin board near the entrance to the main campus, along with a small crowd of students.

"Let's see...Siiva...Siiva...Oh, there!" Siiva peered through the crowd, the optics in her pupils zooming in as she read through the boards looking for her name. "Team W-...W-Wi-DeRS?(WDRS)..." She fell silent for a moment, confused on how to pronounce the damned acronym. "Yeah, let's go with that. Let's see...Led by Sir Wren, members are Miss Daygem, Sir Auburn, and me. Room is..." She muttered to herself as her memory banks jotted them down in her main scroll, which is part of the supercomputers that was conceived as her brain. If she recalls, Wren Eisen is the Student President, right? Then that would leave her with a more than capable group. "I just have to try harder then!" She motivated herself as she then proceeded to the dorms whilst humming a cheery tune.

--Calpoly Panoma--
[Open to anyone!]

It has been a bad day for Calpoly. He was nearly late for the airship and got to the speech a few minutes late due to him falling asleep in the airship. Cal was training so hard in order to be admitted to the academy, so the fatigue must've got to him. Cal lets out a sigh as he got out of the gymnasium, soon searching for the nearest bulletin. However, most of them are crowded with various students.

" 'Scuse me, coming through..." Calpoly muttered as he tried to fit through the crowd, soon finding himself in front of the bulletin board. Fortunately enough, his name was on there as soon as he looked at it! "Okay, team...T.PiNK(TPNK)...Ok, got it." He read the names and the room number he's supposed to be in, soon walking off to find the dormitory, repeating the room number over and over as if memorizing it.

  • MAIN HALL -> ANNOUNCEMENT BOARD (open to interaction)

It was a long ride to get into Beacon. Shiying couldn't just take the express route from Menagerie - no, he had to take the journey from Vale. That's where he said he was from, after all - it would look a bit odd coming from elsewhere. Trying not to show his exhaustion from the two-flight trip, he stifled a long yawn. Still, this happened each year with this being his third. It was for one day in the entire year - he'll live. After listening to Ozpin's speech - seemingly for the third time - he left with everyone else. In fact, he used his agility and speed to weave through everyone, so he didn't have to wait for the first years to finish looking for themselves. He used to be a first year once, and he still remembers the infuriated third years who were waiting for him to finish. How the tables have turned, Shi chuckled to himself.

It didn't take long for Shi to find his team - his stood out against everyone else's, with his foreign sounding name. Besides, he was first on his team's list - and he had no idea who any of the others were. He had vague recollections of a 'Venus Gyvate', perhaps in a year below him, but he had no memory of her. Chances were, she wouldn't know him either - no matter, he didn't care.

Sighing sharply after finding his name, he began to head towards his room. He didn't like to hang around large crowds - he very much preferred the teams of four. He liked the more intimate nature of it, versus a huge group. Perhaps that means he was shy, and perhaps that was the case, but Shiying just saw it as part of who he was - it was nothing to be ashamed of, in his eyes. His martial arts master always told him that everyone was unique, and that is what made life interesting - or, something to that accord. Well, Shiying thought, life certainly was about to get interesting. He had a feeling, with all the news and rumours going around, that this year was going to be more exciting and dangerous than the last two.

*Paging Miss Mila* Entity.Eclypse Entity.Eclypse

Ashlyn briskly made her way through the crowd to the bulletin to find where she would be staying. She weaved around students, on occasion a hand coming up to try and flick and grab her ear, but she moved fast enough to avoid those types. She then spotted a familiar face, black and white hair unmistakable. "Mila!" She called out as she neared a few feet from her partner. "Been awhile, has it not?" She asked, the tinge of a Mengerie accent apparent. Her hood was currently down and partly open, revealing a currently dark grey undersuit with matching armor coloration due to her cloaks previously having been closed. The faint outline of a four part holster shiouletted against her lean framed held her knives, and her bec was acting almost as a swagger stick for her.

"Do you know where we are going?" She then asked, slate eyes turning to meetings grey and red of her compatriot. She stopped at the board and leaned on her bec casually, fingers splayed out across it.

Alexander patiently waited for the line to slowly dissipate as multiple students began to continually bump into and trample each other just to get ahead of everyone else. A small chuckle managed to escape the mouth of the giant as due to his experience he knew someone of his size would never be able to make it to the front as his bulkiness provided very little mobility. And with the sight of everyone trampling themselves just to discover their room amused Alxander in a number of ways as it reminded him of his first year attending Beacon where he he also attempted to rush towards the front of the line. Alexander stood out from most of the crowd due to his enormous size and even caught several first year students starring at him because of this. His fellow third year peers and most of the second year juniors were use to his size at this point so there weren't many who would shoot glances at him when they thought he wasn't looking.

After the line began to thin itself out as students began rushing to find their rooms and teammates Alexander eventually made his way to the list. "Team TNPK eh" Alexander said to himself as he began to scan through the list of his fellow teammates. Alexander huffed a bit upon discovering that he had no idea who any of these people were causing a frown to form over his face. He had been hoping that he would have known at least one person amongst his team, but due to the unfamiliar names he could already tell these were all first years causing him to sigh a bit. There of course was nothing wrong with being on a team full of first years, but it meant he would have to play guide when it came to the academies facilities and it's classroom locations. Alexander started to make his way down to his new room as the sight of his Greatsword and shield were clearly seen slung over the back of the colossal third year.

Victor Powder
(awkwardly bumping into Siiva Thepotatogod Thepotatogod )
The young man let out a weary sigh as he looked around at the hordes of students around him. Victor hated crowds, being around people generally made him feel uncomfortable, and being in a crowd only amplified his anxiety. After the speech was over Victor tried his best to be on of the first few out, but that only resulted him walking straight into another students weapon, which was sheathed of course. Still running face into a giant axe handle was very, very embarrassing to Victor. Hurrying out of the doorway with a bright red face he went straight for the billboard, and due to his frantic scramble to get away from the crowd Victor was one of the first students to get there. Though by the time he found his name the crowd had already descended on the billboard.

"Eleanor, Mila, Ashlynn," Victor mumbled as he took a second to think about the names. A shocked expression washed over his face as he came to the realization that those were girls names. Victor's bright red face as a million thoughts flew through his head, 'they couldn't put one guy with three other girls?!' or, 'maybe one of thems a guy with a girly name?' to just complete internal screaming, and yes this is Victor's thought process on a daily basis. Quickly turning around and slithering his way through the crowd and twords the dorm. He didn't want to go, but his legs kept moving forward. Looking down at the ground with half of his face buried in his scarf the young man frantically tried to keep calm. He didn't even realize that he was about to walk right into another student. Before Victor realized what was happening it was already too late, he collided with the person. Stumbling backwards. Looking at the girl with silver hair he bumped into Victor choked on his own words as he tried to throw out an apology. He was already on panicking about being the only guy on his team, and now bumping into a girl wasn't helping with his internal screaming.

Venus Gyvate
Venus considers herself as a responsible and punctual young woman. She's always in time for everything. Except when she feels like not being punctual. Like for example, right now. It's not like she dislikes greeting the first-years or whatsoever. She just know that the headmaster will call the student council in front of everyone and her dear friend would definitely love the attention alone. She giggled at the thought before she tightened the black bow clipped on the back of her white long hair and straightened her pale dress. She paused in front of a mirror to appreciate herself before venturing to where she was supposed to be an hour ago.

She was surprised at the amount of students crowding the place. There were new faces whom she clearly doesn't recognize and there were some she knew from the past year. Speaking of someone she knew, she almost forgot to reply to Eisen Wren, her friend way back before Signal.

Venus saw her childhood friend with a frown present on his face looking at his scroll. The snake-faunus quickly crept behind him and put both her hands on his shoulder, "Boo~!" she half-whispered into his right ear hoping to get him by surprise. She drew back with a smile present on her porcelain face, "I overslept!" she didn't even try to sound convincing, "Did you miss me, Mr. Wren? Do you know who my teammates are, pres? Since you're a very reliable president and all can you show me around the school?" she began teasing him by acting like a lost first-year.

Her mind was preoccupied with the names of those in her group, who were they even.. and how would she manage to find this dang room if she couldn't even make sense of the campus as is. "Aghh! This is ridiculous how am I supposed to find this room if i'm lost as could be!" She complained as she walked through the noisy crowd. Most of the people in this crowd seemed to be quite annoying and taller than her, minus her ears of course. But she just looked down and shook her head slightly in disapproval of the situation, someone tried to grab her ear and she quickly jerked it away. But in doing such she bumped into a man of large stature and could hear the sound of his blades along with the size of him alone caught her in an awkward situation, she was sure he could clobber her into the ground with just one swing of his fist if he wanted. People moved away from his pathway though and now left an emptiness around them in fear of getting run down themselves.

"A-ah.." She muttered stumbling back but still staying on her feet, due to her size she likely wouldn't feel like much more than a small child would bumping into the leg of a grown man at the shopping aisle. She looked up quickly and didn't recognize the man who was a good bit taller than her, so she decided to think about the best way to go about handling the situation which caused her ears to twitch slightly. A slight anxiousness ran through her before she got a second glance at the man and felt a spark of recognition deep within her mind but it was a bit harder for her to realize exactly what that meant since his name slipped her mind.

She quickly moved a couple steps back and bowed her head to him, "I'm sorry for bumping into you sir!" She spoke her voice showing the tone of being startled regardless of her being the one to bump into him. That in itself had her confused, she found it hard to believe that she hadn't seen him but it seemed as though the crowd had just parted and immediately had the two beings clash like some sort of universal extreme. "I know this may sound hard to believe but I didn't realize you were there until.. well.." She said nervously and lifted her head now to look up to him once more.

Aiden Holt
Upon Ozpin's speech, Aiden went through his scroll one more time before heading on over to the announcement board. His first year at Beacon Academy and already were rumors spoken out as truth. The fact these weren't some rumors was definitely concerning but he was here to prepare himself for any of those things should it come to that. Life was an adventure in itself, that was his motto. Sure there were dangerous criminals on the loose, the world is currently upside down with the Grimm but he had his philosophies to keep up and this certainly wasn't going to change that.

"Alright so... who are the people going to dorm with moi?" His eyes peer towards the announcement board, trying to locate his name which was going to take quite a while.

As he did so, Aiden remembered the journey from Vacuo all the way to Beacon Academy. It was quite the trek and thankfully he had managed to board here just on time though he did get sidetracked a bit thanks to a run-in with a couple of local street punks. With that memory already out of his thoughts, he starts browsing for real.

KAIRN GORM
Dormitory Corridors (not in motion)
Interacting with Navi Belnair ( Entity.Eclypse Entity.Eclypse )

In truth, Kairn lost track of where he was. He knew he had travelled to the dormitory building, at some point in time, but he had lost memory of which dormitory room he was looking for. He couldn't even remember who else was on his team - except, of course, the reason he was so lost in thought. The name Navi struck bells in his head, but not that loudly. Or, rather, not the name Navi - he knew a fair few Navis from his father dragging him across the world - but the surname of Belnair. It was familiar, yet not - like a taste from one's childhood or rereading an old book left long enough to get dusty on the shelf. His arctic blue eyes, bright sapphires against the white pearls of his sclera, stared miles into the distance as a hand involuntarily stroked his smoky quartz beard - a sign that he was deep in thought. With a sigh, he had almost given up when he felt a slight thump against his chest, causing the greatsword on his back to rattle in its sheath. He had almost forgotten about the huge weight on his back, and the surprise realisation of it made Kairn brace himself with his leg in reaction - a bit like when one suddenly remembers that they're holding something valuable, and quickly tighten their grip on it or when one is carrying shopping home but then remembers the weights on their hand, causing them to shift slightly to accommodate for the forgotten shopping weight.

He didn't even notice that the area had cleared out around him - he supposed, however, that if he was just wandering with no real goal he probably would've barely noticed if someone walked into him, or vice versa. A bit like now, to be honest. "Oh, sorry. I was miles away." He barely even recognised what the girl had said to him, let alone reply properly to it. All he could think of doing at this time was apologise, and be done with it. As he looked down, however, and saw the two bunny ears reaching up to his full height, he instantly recognised the girl. With the flame of remembrance clear as day across his face, he smiled a bit before composing himself. There was still the chance that this girl wasn't the same as Navi, and he didn't want to look the fool on his first day. "Say, you don't happen to know where the TNPK room is, do you? I've been looking for a while now, but got distracted...I'm Kairn, by the way. Kairn Gorm."

If this was a normal circumstance, chances were that he wouldn't offer his name. However, with the chance that this girl is, indeed, an old friend of his perhaps the mention of his name was enough to trigger her memory. If not, well...then, she mustn't be anyone he knew. At least, in his mind and train of thought. He offered out a thick, strong gloved hand as he offered his name, as to not be rude to her.

Eisen Wren
With Venus at the Courtyard . D O V E . D O V E

"Boo~!"

A dark eyebrow cocked when Venus "snuck" up on him and pretended to scare him. Eisen took a second to pretend to jump when she whispered into his ear.

"I overslept!"

"You sleep? I thought you just curled up under a heat lamp and stopped moving until it was time to mess with someone."

He gave her a smile, finally looking up and making eye contact briefly before looking back down at his scroll, pretty sure she hadn't looked at the board yet.

"Did you miss me, Mr. Wren? Do you know who my teammates are, pres? Since you're a very reliable president and all can you show me around the school?"

"I always miss you, but then you show up and I lose interest. You're on Harvest Gold. HARG. Led by Shiying Haumei. Teammates include Aiden Holt and Jade Rayne. Ozpin didn't give me room info."

He slid his scroll up into his blazers breast pocket, then took his glasses off and slid them into the same pocket.

With that done, He and Venus really didn't have anything to do, officially, aside from answering questions from someone fresh off the boat. And no one had come up to ask anything yet.

"I need a nap. And food. Might happen at the same time. Let's go eat."

Eisen didn't wait for her to answer. She'd follow him, or she wouldn't. They did their own things, when they weren't too busy being attached at the hip. She'd join him if she had nothing better to do.

He rubbed his sleepy gray eyes while he walked. Between prepping for the new system at school and going on as many missions as he could cram in, Eisen didn't get a summer break.

This was going to be a rough year.

Eleanor stood against the wall on her tippy toes as she tried to see if she could spot anyone she knew from where she stood. Though she could not see very well over most of the other students. With a small frown, she folded her arms under her chest and lean against the wall as the headmaster finished his speech. Once the speech was over Eleanor stood there as the sea of her fellow students made their way out of the gymnasium. Not wanting to get trampled by the others the short dog Faunus waited until the end to exit the gymnasium.

She sighed not feeling as happy as she did before coming to Beacon. For weeks Eleanor had been counting the days when she would return to school and get to see her teammates, that's all she would talk about. Now with the new changes, she was not just going to get a whole new team, but she was going to lead it too. “Oh my poor team is doomed!” she said covering her face with her gloved hands and she spoke to herself. She was not sure how to feel about the whole situation. She was nervous and unsure how this all would turn out.

Finally making her way to the courtyard she took in a deep breath glad to not be stuck in that large crowd. “Well I guess it would be best to try and find my new team members…” she spoke to herself as she pulled out her scroll. She opened up the document looking at the pictures and files on her new teammates. She figured she would walk around and see if she could spot anyone before heading over to the room of she had no luck finding anyone. She made a note to herself to tackle hug her old teammates when she spotted them, but now she had work to do.

Venus Gyvate
Venus pretended to wince for dramatic effect at Eisen's jarring reply although she had to stop herself from erupting into a fit of giggles because he pretended to be startled. "That's my Eisen, always so harsh." she rolled her shoulder with her disarming smile. Apparently she is in team Harvest Gold with three other people whom she either vaguely recognize or doesn't recognize. "What a bummer." she huffed, "I wanted to be on the same team as you. How would you survive without me?" the white-haired female tapped her chin thoughtfully before Eisen suggested eating.

"I think I'll check the board first. I'll follow you right after unless I found something that'll keep me busy or if a horde of grimm fell from the sky." she flashed him a grin before heading to the board.

Once she finally managed to get there, she saw a red-haired boy whom she assumes is a first year. She went beside him and looked up at the announcement board. Without thinking she suddenly blurted out the names of her team and fellow members' name although she got most of them incorrectly.

"Team Harvest Gold......Let's see... a Shiying Haumei, Jane Rayne and Eden Holt....where is it?" golden eyes squinted at the board searching for her team and name. He blamed Ozpin for only sending the team list at the president and not at the vice-president as well. Maybe it would be better if she just asked Eisen to forward it to her or something. But then she wouldn't know where her new room is.

Siiva didn't notice anyone coming ahead of her when she hears a soft 'klunk!', prompting her to stop moving as she spots a young, silver haired man with a blue scarf tumbling back.

"Ah, I'm sorry!" Siiva apologized, rubbing the back of her head. "I didn't notice your path...Are you okay?" She asked, noticing the man's panicked expression. "Is...Everything alright, sir?" she asked in a somewhat worried tone, noting the man's pale expression.

"Yeah, it certainly feels like forever..." She agreed. "And I guess you and I both know better than to rush a crowd now." She said with a mischievous grin. "Buuut..." She started before vanishing right before Mila's eyes into mist, darting through the crowd to the board, reappearing right next to it, startling a few first years. "Team... ECAP..." She mumbled, misting back to her friend. When she reformed she started laughing.

"I wish you saw those faces, I love doing that. It always gets them." She then composed herself. "We are team ECAP with an Eleanor and a Victor it seems. Lucky we get to be together still." She said happily.

"So would you like to go to the forms or grab something to eat? I'd be down for both, but I could probably cook something at the dorm as well." She told Mila.

Her mind was wracked with excessive embarrassment as she felt like a total idiot for just bumping into the mountain sized man and trying to apologize so quickly. Her head swarmed with thoughts and the memories of doing this in the past, she was young at the time that it had happened and something in her house had broken. Back at this time she had been living out in one of the towns within the Vacuo area, her father had called for someone who came with his son to fix the thing up. She had done practically the same thing as she did to this man now as she had done to that mans son.. of course rather than other students trying to pull her ears it had been her the mixture of brothers and sisters she had been watching with her mother while her father helped discussing things with the man. Plus the boy she had met back in that time was a cleanly shaven boy.. or maybe his facial hair hadn't grown too much, who was a little bit shorter than this man was.. of course she hadn't really grown in height within that time period. Now her mind wandered slightly as she tried to remember who that man had been.. what was his name again, it kept slipping her mind.

"How could you be miles away and still right here?" She asked confused as one could manage to be in this moment but watched his face, it looked like a fire had erupted in him, could that be because he hated her now or worse.. maybe he hated faunus as a species and was one of those humans who would advocate that they were the superior ones until his final breath. God she hoped that wasn't the kind of person who she had bumped into... there were some people like that who had walked into town and tried to hit her. The same men had gotten a rather rude scorning from her father who bailed her out of the situation as soon as he had almost laid a hand on her. She would always respect her father for the courage that he managed to put into everything that he did, the same courage that was passed onto her brother which is why he became so successful in the world of huntresses and hunters.

She saw him begin to move his hand and a slight fear caused her heart beat to quicken at an accelerated pace, but once he stopped it at an angle she knew what he was expressing. It was a simple greeting while he spoke his name and she moved her hand to his, which was difficult since his hand was the size of her bicep, so she found a way to. His name registered in her head with a familiar thought surfacing, but it made her wonder who this guy was in why he made her remember the younger years of her life. She shook most of his hand but it required quite a bit of effort from her since she was rather small to say the least, "Nice to meet cha' I'm Navi, Navi Belnair.. hopefully my carelessness from a moment ago wo-" she froze immediately in place as a realization hit suddenly. She remembered how this man was in her mind and why he made her think of the past, she pulled her hand back only for the small-framed girl to attempt in wrapping her arms around the mans larger frame. "It's been soooo long since I saw you!!! You kinda just disappeared from Vacuo out of the blue an all and never told me where you went. That's mean y'know!" She said acting slightly childish with her actions as was rather apparent from her puffing her cheeks out as she spoke this last statement.

KAIRN GORM

Dormitory Corridors (not in motion)

Interacting with Navi Belnair ( Entity.Eclypse Entity.Eclypse )
Oh yeah, this was definitely Navi all right. He still remembered the first time the pair had met. It was about five years ago, now - six, nearly, since he was nearly 18 - and his father had begun him working as his apprentice. His father was an electrician at the time - highly valued in a city where sand kept breaking everything - and he was a bit...heavy handed in finding Kairn's vocation in life. He wanted his son to be rich and successful, yes, but he didn't really give Kairn much choice in the matter. Perhaps he just didn't want him to become like Kairn's grandfather - much difference that made. If anytihng, his father drove Kairn to be like his grandfather. He was dragged out in the blazing heat, one day - something that Atlasians are never truly prepared for - and started babbling on about the mechanisms behind air conditioning units. Kairn had no clue what was going on, but he was learning. He was carrying his father's tools behind him when a small girl crashed into him from the side. Of course, he apologised to her - even though it wasn't really his fault - but he found it funny how she just flared up with embarrassment from it all. That was the first time the pair met, and from there friendship was formed. Until he shattered that friendship about two years ago, that is - he had given her not even a week of notice before his dad dragged him elsewhere.

Still, there was little he could do about it now. Perhaps life would've been different if his father stayed in Vacuo, but perhaps he would've also been forced to become an electrician - he was good at it, but he didn't enjoy it. He did, however, enjoy training to be a Hunter. Maybe the sacrifice was worth it. Maybe destiny was at play. Maybe it was luck or coincidence - Kairn was never a spiritual person. His grandfather never did, anyways, and he learned more from his grandfather in two years than he did his whole life as an electrician's apprentice. 'If destiny is real, then it is everyone's destiny to die. I refuse to believe such a malicious creature like 'destiny' exists.' His grandfather may not have been wise, but he was never wrong. Destiny was just a concept that people came up with to explain things they couldn't explain by any other means. Besides, if destiny was real, destiny was the greatest killer known to mankind.

As Navi asked him where his mind was wandering to, he just shrugged his shoulders. He was a terrible liar, and didn't want to tell her the truth. He was thinking about her, and while it was only because the name on the noticeboard reminded him of her it was a little bit creepy. He ended on a bad note, and didn't want to start on another bad note. He learned over the years that, if you cannot lie to save your life, the best way to lie is to not say anything at all.

He couldn't even lie to himself, even when he tried to tell himself that Navi's size compared to his wasn't hilarious. He saw it a little funny when Navi shook his hand - so tiny compared to his own - and he wondered how she was so small compared to him. He even worried a little - was she eating properly? Was she ill? All questions he made a note of asking in due time. For now, he was happy to greet her in a friendly manner. Until, that is, Navi seemed to notice who he was. Now trapped in an embrace from the rabbit girl, with nothing but his hand left out, he awkwardly patted her on the back. He didn;t know what to do. As she bombarded him with angry words, he could only apologise. "I'm sorry. I only knew myself that I was to leave a week beforehand! You were the first person I told." Coughing awkwardly, not knowing what else to say beyond that, he spoke up again in his gruff voice and his Northern accent. "So, how've you been? What team are you on?"

"To lunch it is!" Ashlyn said happily as she started walking, tossing up her Snare as she walked forward. "And I mean you can't base skill off a name, sadly... But if they made it here, they must at least know how to fight." She reasoned, walking backwards and facing Mila. She was able to weave through the halls rather easily, given how familiar they were. "But if they do happen to be dumb, we haven't faltered before." She said to her. "Oh!" She exclaimed as if remembering something.

"ECAP is supposed to be eucalyptus. It's a plant... Koalas eat? I think that's what it was." She explained to Mila before doing a 180 to push open the door for the both of them. She passed through, propping open the door long enough for both to pass. "What do you want? I'll grab for both of us if you would kindly secure our old table." She said, flashing a wink before waltzing off without hearing her answer.

Navi smiled to herself for a moment as she realized that her friend who had been absent for a few years now was back before her once more, she honestly thought that he wasn't going to be coming back ever but lone behold and here he was. She wasn't just shocked to be honest, she was taken aback by the situation as a whole including but not limited to her friend and being a part of this academy in general. Her life was going pretty swell just about now if she were to give her opinion on the situation as a whole. Maybe they had just been fated to meet once more, only to be on a team to battle it out against the cold hard world which swarmed in on them closer by the day as it was, no matter what adding to be like that of an inky darkness that wanted to drown out the light..

She noticed him patting her on the back and moved back now with her hands behind her back, her fingers had become intertwined with one another as she held her own hand behind her back. "Well... I suppose I can't fault you for that. You're off the hook for now" She said with a cutesy smile pushing through her face and carving itself into her cheeks which deflated from their previously puffy standard. She couldn't really blame him for not telling her sooner since he didn't know.. but she didn't know that he didn't know, so how could she know? Regardless of her own mental confusion on the matter she allowed for it to flow freely through her without any issue or systematic error in her judgment. Honestly she had been curious as to where his mind was wandering off to when she had bumped into him, whatever it was must have been important for it not to be mentioned to her.. either it was important or something of such minimal importance that he gave up on thinking about what or whoever it was..

She took a brief pause to think over everything that had gone on in the past few years and honestly just contemplated that all in general. "Well... father broke a leg.. I met my grandmother. She's shorter than me so I guess I got unlucky like her with height. Besides that nothing besides me coming here" She spoke in a somewhat in a ramble since she didn't exactly know what else she should explain as to the things that happened. She thought this because nothing really important had happened on her end of things.. but she did know her team. "Oh i'm on team TNPK by the way. Though I don't really have a clue on the room location sadly... so that's not great by any regards" She laughed sheepishly before looking around.

KAIRN GORM

Dormitory Corridors (not in motion)

Interacting with Navi Belnair ( Entity.Eclypse Entity.Eclypse )
Looking down to the bunny girl, he could really see how much she's grown. Not much, but she seems to have a fire within her that he has never really seen before. She must have something, anyways, since the Navi he knew from before probably wouldn't have wanted to fight huge monsters for a living. Maybe that just meant he didn't really know her that much. Oh well. Maybe she just wants to be like her brothers or something. Or, maybe like him, she didn't want to do what her parents were wanting her to do, and took this as a way out. Whatever the reason, Kairn could see that something had awoken behind Navi's eyes during the time he was away from her. Maybe he was just holding her back somehow? Kairn was never good at judging such things. Still, even if her heart and soul grew, there was not much else different about her. She was still pretty short, had thin limbs which he suspected probably bruised easily and those adorable lopped bunny ears on top of her head. In appearance, she didn't seem to have changed all that much. Unlike him. He had grown massive during the last couple of years, and not just with height but with muscle mass, and he now has a well kept beard where he was clean shaven before.

He was wearing an old looking military uniform of sorts - not the sort that a regular soldier would wear, though but the sort that someone from the black ops or secret service might wear. It had little armour, maybe enough to cushion a crowbar or a heavy punch, but it was designed mainly for utility than anything else. It was mainly black in colour, except for a small golden nameplate with the faded letters 'A. Gorm' engraved onto it. The most noticeable thing about him was probably, if not definitely, the huge greatsword on his back. Made from a strong looking, darkish metallic metal, it appeared to have some mass to it. Not to mention that the hilt had a trigger built into it - whatever gun was hidden in the greatsword must be a hefty one. He also had two other blades - a sword with what looked like a shotgun ammo drum on his hip, and a small dagger strapped by a holster to his left ribcage. Certainly, a much different look than the one he left behind - a medium build, medium height boy wearing cheap overalls and steelcapped boots carrying a small toolbox. 'Time changes people', his grandfather taught him, 'in more ways than one.'

Kairn nodded gently as Navi spoke, but his eyes widened as she mentioned the team she was to be put on. Whether it was good luck, or bad, chance had deemed it fit to stick them both on the same team. The image of them fighting back to back made Kairn smile as, even though Navi was small and not very physically threatening, he couldn't think of anyone better that he trusted his life with. Except maybe his grandfather, perhaps. "Ah, now isn't that funny - so am I. I've been looking around, and I must say I haven't found my - our - room yet. Erm...hang on, is there a map anywhere?" Kairn started looking around - on his scroll, on the walls, on the nearby doors, looking for any hint to where the room could be.

R O W A N A U B U R N
Intro post, no interactions yet.

Excitement had been the dominating emotion within Rowan as the start of the new school year came closer. Surprisingly, he was actually eager to return to the academy after having had a moderately tame vacation. The recently turned 18-year-old had decided it would be time for him to take a calmer and 'adult' approach to the upcoming year. Last year, he had set up a reputation for being quite the hothead having caused quite a bit of damage to the academy's property in silly, unnecessary tantrums or fights that got way out of hand. He even set aflame a poor student's hair once, totally unintentional but still quite drastic. His control over the chaotic but powerful semblance was still below average at best, which is why he would be doing his best to finally get a grip over the inner fire that would occasionally erupt.

Like any other moderately good student, Rowan patiently listened to Ozpin's little inspirational talk before eagerly setting off to discover his new team. He wasn't completely sure as to why the former groups had apparently been disbanded, but Rowan wasn't going to doubt the academy's decisions. The redhead didn't really mind that much anyway, seeing as he only cared about improving and having a decent time.

Seeing a large crowd around the list of teams and dorms didn't intimidate or discourage the overly confident boy whatsoever. Instead of patiently waiting like a responsible individual would, Rowan charged forth, pushing and nudging his way through in an attempt to reach the given information just ever so slightly faster than he otherwise would. Once he managed to get in front, the short boy quickly looked up and down the board, eventually finding his name beneath 'team WDRS' which was apparently short for Wilderness. Though he obviously would've preferred something more intimidating, a word that struck fear into his enemy's hearts, Rowan didn't particularly dislike the name. The team name wasn't the important part of the information, though, it was his fellow wannabe huntsmen and huntresses that grabbed his interest. It was needless to say that Eisen Wren stood out initially, he had just been announced as the student council president after all. Considering his position, Rowan assumed him to be reasonably strong, so that was most definitely good news. The other two names did not seem familiar in even the slightest, causing the redhead to simply assume they were most likely first years or at least new arrivals to Beacon. After quickly glancing over at the dorm number, Rowan slowly but surely made his way out of the crowd.

Rowan spent the next few minutes on aimlessly walking around, saying hi to some familiar faces, partaking in some harmless small talk. He didn't really have a particular goal in mind, so just hanging around for a bit didn't seem that much of a bad idea.

Jade Rayne
Jade’s head buzzed with excitement as he listened to Ozpins speech. He couldn’t really pay any attention as every other thing in the room was just as interesting to him. He was surrounded by other students that he could be paired with and he couldn’t wait until they were announced. To Jade, it felt like an eternity before the welcome speeches had come to their conclusions and it was time for teams to be announced.

Jade immediately bolted to the board with the posted teams, but had to wait for the sea to clear to find his name. “Jade Rayne, Jade Rayne, Jade Rayne. Where the hell is it?“ he murmured until he located it. “Team HARG. Shiying, Aiden, and Venus. Huh.” The wannabe hunter mused as walked away from the board. “I wonder what they are like.” The teen wondered aloud as he roamed the area trying to spot his teammates.

Finally catching onto his tongue. "N~no, that aint your fault," he quickly blurted out, quickly trying to make himself presentable. His dialect was slightly different than a native from Atlas, though it was still noticeable.

"I wasn't lookin' where I was goin' " he continued quickly, fidgeting with his hand and avoiding any eye contact. Not really knowing what to do, or how to carry a conversation past a millimeter. Should he just say bye and leave, or should he try to communicate?

"So er, are ya possibly on team ECAP?" He asked, unsure ifor he had just bumped into one of his new teammates.

"I will!" She called back before going into the line and grabbing them both food. She returned to hide table and set a plate down in front of them. She then looked at her and swapped the plates around. After another moment she frowned and looked at her partner. "What? You can't tell me you don't like both of these? What's on your mind?" She asked her, head tilted slightly. "But if it is the food, then I'll go back." She offered.
