Xandria grinned back at the red-haired boy. It took every ounce of self control in her to not reach out and run a hand through his hair just for the fun of it.
“Oh,” her face fell when the banshee girl said she hadn’t seen the dog. “Well, I guess we’ll come across him eventually. He can’t have gone far,” she looked to Orin, who nodded halfheartedly.
“Well, as much fun as this has been, we’d better get going,” Orin said finally, moving toward the door. Then he spotted them outside. He cursed under his breath and closed the door quickly. “There’s more,” he called over his shoulder to Xandria.
She twirled one of her knives between her fingers. “And?”
“And there’s a lot of them. At least twenty I think,” he said.
