Fandom Pokemon: Worlds Unfurled

Well then things got serious rather quickly... Really looking forward to what happen in the future or the RP

Glad to hear it!

Anyway, Sakura made news headlines so she's not too happy about that but oh well. She'll have to live with it for a while. Lol!

Alrighty! Back from the weekend and so many things have happened. Lovely stuff to catch up on. The two days gave me a few questions I would like to ask. But first @cloudyblueday I'm back and will be posting ASAP.

@Kyero Seconding Kinghink how does leveling and evolution work? I realize leveling is an abstract concept that doesn't exist in this RP but how fast should our pokemon grow and when should they evolve?

@KingHink - It will technically never be too late to join this RP as it's still a sandbox. No matter when you enter, you're forging your own story even if there are other people sharing the experience so your friend is clear to join if they wish. When it comes to Volcarona, it doesn't really seem to be that much of a Legendary Pokemon. It had a temple in the anime or something like that, but otherwise its pre-evolved form can be found roaming the wild like any normal Pokemon can. That doesn't sound very "Legendary" to me though there is an online debate going on about this subject on certain websites.

I have plans regarding Mew as well a Mewtwo, and a story revolving around their relationship will play a role in future RP events.

TM's are not part of the RP. Any move that a Pokemon should be able to learn either by type or by intense training, they can learn. A Blastoise learning Skald to me sounds perfectly normal, and with intense training I think it could learn Ice Beam and such but there won't be any TM's in this RP. The idea that you can put some kind of device in front of a Pokemon and just have it instantly learn a new technique is completely idiotic and should never have been used outside of the games (like it was in Pokemon Origins). It's just a game mechanic for diversifying Pokemon moves among the same species from one person's preference to another's.

In regards to evolution, trade evolutions don't exist. Evolve by holding a specific item does, but it must be held for long periods of time through many different battles before it reacts to the Pokemon's genetics and activates the evolution. Just giving your Pokemon a required item won't make it evolve.

@theunderwolf - A difficult question to answer.

Pokemon evolution is dependent upon a number of factors, the two most important of which are your Pokemon's battle experience and their age. Natural Pokemon evolution occurs over time, as many Pokemon have life spans rivaling or surpassing those of a human being so it doesn't make much sense for a Pokemon who's still technically a baby to be evolving.

For those who were unaware of it before, this RP is going to take place over several IC years, possibly a decade or longer. Just making it through Kanto is going to take at least a year and a half by itself, to say nothing of the long trip to the other regions, making it through those Pokemon League badge quests, fighting Team Rocket, encountering and working alongside our Legendaries (for those who opted for such a path), etc.

Yeah, this RP is LONG so please don't rush it. Capturing Pokemon is all well and good but don't just encounter one and catch it all in one post. Draw it out and make it something special. Make your Pokemon's growth something special. Keep them at lower stages as long as you can and milk their adolescent years for all they're worth as they won't be staying that way for long. Once the evolve, they can never go back.

Sakura's Charmander won't become a Charmeleon for at least a year IC, and by that time she'll only have around 5 to 6 badges. This world is huge, and will take a long time to traverse. Traveling from Vermillion City to Diglett's Cave, for instance, is at least a three day trip. The totality of Route 11 by itself, leading towards the bridges that become Route 12, is around a week and a half to two weeks depending on your travel speed. Route 12 is about a month, maybe 2 depending on which direction you go. You're not going to be collecting badges very quickly. This is a long and drawn out process so dig in and milk your experiences for all they're worth.

Don't rush anything.

Clarification, when I said TM I was refering to the move tutor system you had discussed earlier (my fault there). Or a Technical Manual or whatever might be it's equivalent. Like a "5 step guide to the perfect karate chop" kind of thing.(Which is a joke more than a serious suggestion).

Thank you, I understand better now. I am personally looking forward to a good long RP. Haven't had one as such for some time. I will relay the news to my friend. And my friend does hope to put up a profile within a day or so, should time be kind.

No. My friend has not yet joined the site yet. Lol, they might I inquire as to why you think she might be my friend? Though a look at her profile and I see no reasons as to why I would not be her friend. I joined this thread shortly after I joined this site, so I hardly know anyone here beyond those whom I have talked to on this thread.

It very well could be, as everyone loves a good pokemon RP. No need to be sorry, nothing like an honest question to start a conversation.

And, Underwolf, are you planning on traveling with any of the other characters or do plan to be strollin' solo for a while?

Something which I was just reminded of and is something I'm surprised never came up yet is the subject of shiny Pokémon.

For those who are wondering, while shiny Pokémon are incredibly rare, I'm not against anyone capturing them along the way so long as you can provide an example of what your version of the final colored form is. And no, it does not have to be the shiny given in the games. If you have access to a good photo of the Pokémon you want to have that's shiny or, even better, have a personally photoshopped image of said Pokémon and its altered colors, then I'm all for it. Just try to keep it to one or two colored Pokémon per person as they are supposed to be ungodly rare.

Do be sure to tell me which one you're after as well everyone!

As the GM I need to know!

Would you like me to just pm you my (goal) party?
If you'd like to.

Everyone, in my recent post I provided a very important piece of information which I will now share with you here in the OOC.

Certain kinds of Pokémon moves are effective against other Pokémon for a reason, and it has to do with bio-chemicals within their bodies.

Fire Pokémon, for instance, are not weak to natural water you'll find in a stream (though an open flame like Charmander's tail does still need to be kept clear of it). Special bio-chemicals, usually found in the throat/gullet, of water Pokémon are what cause the perceived "damage," though what it's actually doing is triggering what equates to something akin to an allergic reaction. The same can be said for other types of specialized moves, and thus if you wash a fire Pokémon's flesh/fur with normal water, they won't feel a thing. In fact they might rather enjoy it.

I hope this makes sense. If you guys are confused as to why a specific type might work well against another in this RP, then ask away!
