Then a group/sandbox endeavor it shall be. To that end, I propose we all find a way to converge on a single point sometime before the first two to three badges are earned for everyone. This way we have enough time to establish ourselves as individuals, but also have an early enough convergence point to make the grouping meaningful.
Along the way, as we push towards that convergence point, I will be straining the world with Team Rocket's abuse which should be enough to give everyone a reason to wish to fight together against them. The brutal torture and deaths of Pokemon under Team Rocket's wrath should be enough to spark a unified sense of just hatred within any Trainer's heart and give them reason to try and stop them.
So what do you think? Can you all accept that course of action? I would like to build Sakura on her own for a while before joining up so that's why I ask.

How will they all come together? If I read it right? You changed the rule about them all meeting in Pallet Town? Or did I just read that wrong.

We could choose a town/ city to meet at. In the games I think the first time rocket showed up was Cerulean or Celladon

I'm going to take a more entertaining approach (at least I'm hoping to have done so). Team Rocket will not actually make a full out appearance until after our characters have come together, but there will be evidence of their horrific deeds everywhere which will drive our characters to a like mind by the time they come together. I don't think we'll actually face off with Team Rocket until at least our sixth badge, as their operatives are incredibly powerful and dangerous even at lower tier ranks. We'll need all tour strength to face them so until then Team Rocket will remain a background presence affecting anyone and everyone unfortunate enough to see what they have wrought.
As far as where we will meet, I'd say somewhere around Saffron or Fuchsia city.

Team Rocket is a worldwide evil power and their presence will be felt across all six regions. We will mostly be going through our journey up until our meeting for the sake of going through the journey. But when we meet each other for the first time I might give us a minor encounter with Team Rocket so they can all be together to witness the horrors that they bring together.

Okay. So let's say my character went on a journey, ended up in Fuchsia, and bumped into everyone else. Do we then see Team Rocket and decide to band together? And is out main priority for the first post(s) getting to everyone else so we can band together?

Sounds like it would work well. Just need a middle ground from everyone's starting location. From what I remember saffron city is where most of the other towns connect to or have some way of getting to between lavender, cerulean, vermilion and Celladon. Digglets cave links pewter city to vermilion and saffron also has the magnet train station...

We can reach Saffron from any of the surrounding cities as there is no guard post to stop us like in the games.
But I am going to be starting Sakura in Pallet Town and going through the normal Pokemon Adventure as it goes in the game chronology. From Pallet to Viridian, from Viridian to Pewter, from Pewter to Cerulean. After that point, she will make her way to Saffron as she travels towards Vermillion City, and that will be where and when she finds the others and gets her first example of Team Rocket's cruelty up close and in person. That will be her motivation. Your character's motivation is up to you to find, but our collective distaste for Team Rocket should be enough to bring us together after the big event I have in mind.

Yes, you can. If you want to meet up with a certain character(s) before that then you're welcome to as long as you inform the owner of that character before it happens.
But the entire group of characters won't come together until later.

Well, a seperate or multiple thread would allow you to keep the sandbox out of the group portion of the roleplay. You could have one for when we're all away from each other, and then seperate one for when we all get together. People who don't join the party cans continue in the Sandbox until they meet the group.
Another way would be to have us all start on the new Group Styled Thread when we reach the designated city. It could give us a fresh start, without all the clutter of the earlier Sandbox.

I am terribly eager for the remakes to come out. Counting down the days.
I think that too many groups and solos have the potential to bog things down, as well things are always more fun when playing with someone else. Yet I can see the benefits of it being a group sandbox. After about three badges, our characters will be coming into their own, and as such the interactions will be interesting as the groups come together. So I am fine with how it has been suggested. Though a concern I have is what sort of pace are we expecting to synch ourselves with. Depending on play, some of us might just be getting to Pewter City as the other group has made it halfway across the region.
@Cloudy I would happy to start Ricky out with Harlow! He is in the area. I can have him start out in Pallet Town or she can meet him in his hometown of Viridian City as he is about to head out. Judging from a look at the character sheets I think they will get along quite well, it seems like they got common personalities.
