Yeah, that screams Fossil Pokemon. And by being a feared Hunter Genesect would have the instinct to hunt, kill, and feed.

i believe that when you bring back a fossil your not practicing necromancy. Your basically making a baby though technological means instead of biological (Jurassic Park is the best example here). So no, he wouldn't remember anything of his past.

Instincts however isn't learned. So no memory is required from his past nor can he forget this either. So as such, it's Genesect's instinct to hunt, kill, and feed. That's why they were said to be the most feared hunters

Maybe a screw up with the mechanical component?

(But that would make him more aggressive, not le-)

Shut up

It's truly imposed to totally lose all instinct. The only way to do that would be to kill Uxie, Mespirt, and Alzelf.

Well, with my thinking, how in the hell can a genesect eat if it cannot open its mouth? Sure, it has the instinct to hunt and feed, but with it being modified, they kinda pulled a Deadpool (xmen origins: wolverine anyways.) where his mouth does not open. In the games, I did not see any jaw movement.

Just because something is instinctual doesn't mean you have a understanding of it, nor does it mean we deem it morally acceptable

Kabotops also didn't really have mouth movement. But does that stop him from being a Predetor. No.

By the way if you didn't know, it's theorized that Genesect was a modified Kabutops. Just look at the similarities. Just take a Kabutops, slap some purple armor and a cannon on him, remove the scythes/claws, and special optic lenses for eyes and tah-dah, you have a Genesect.

But hey... that's just a theory.

I am aware of the theory, and it is plausible. I had read on a site (that is not bulbapedia) that the genesect's insides consisted of cybernetics and such. I am unsure, i will slap the link here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanonPokedex/Genesect

Honestly, I feel like I know nothing about pokemon..... I thought I knew a lot, but evidently not. But hey, I am always looking to learn a little more about one of my favorite game series.

Hey don't feel bad. It doesn't matter how much you know. Because I know less than you about Pokemon, lol. I haven't played it in literally years, and I'm sticking to my minuscule knowledge of first gen. That's why my only characters have been a Haunter and a Hypno.

With the logic that website is using it seems Genesect more closely relates to Megearna instead of an actual Pokemon. Heck, Mewtwo has more semblance to a real Pokemon than Genesect does. Why couldn't you let me believe that Genesect was a Cyborg, making it possible to qualify him as a Pokemon still. Megearna is not a Pokemon in my book. Heck, the movie dedicated to her makes it seem so. THEIR JUST ROBOTS MAN, AND SOON THEIR GOING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD.

Really? With genesect, i used my impressions and overall knowledge, twisted by imagination when playing him. But the more research I do, the sillier I feel.

See? He looks more robotic than organic, that and it also stated he has an artificial mouth (i think) that it can eat just fine with.

All I saw was a metal shell. A Ryhorn is born with the same thing, so seeing that metal dosen't immediately make him a robot. The Cannon and optics were a stretch but he was modified. The best I could assume was that he still had a fleshy inside of organs and muscle just like any other Pokemon. But now that this website says his insides are just machinery too than screw the Cyborg idea.

Yeah... I don't really know a whole lot about pokemon, lol. Latios had to send me a list of moves that a Hypno can preform, and I just kinda go off that for battles. :P It's a little weird watching people debate over things I have literally no idea about.

I may know a lot about Pokemon but I don't go searching for every detail about every Pokemon. There just to much to learn with there currently being 810 Pokemon. Genesect is just one of those Pokemon that I never took the time to truly investigate.

True, but what I am focused on is the ability to EAT. it also has Augmented muscles and a modified brain, so it is technically a cyborg, but more machine than an organic being. But I made genesis not know a basic action that a living thing does is because of that mouth that never moves (which could eat pokepuffs/beans just fine in the games.)

Yeah, any Pokemon is going to be able to eat any item in the games, but can it do that same in a real world senecio... Probably not.

Look... The way I see it in order for something to be classified as a Pokemon it must fall under things.

#1: A Pokeball must be able to capture it.

#2: It can not be human as Pokeballs can not capture anything that's human.

#3: It must be a Living Organic Creature to that the Pokeball can capture it (because otherwise it would be able to capture things like trees and rocks)

#4: If the Pokemon is not organic the Pokeball must know what it is trying to catch instead in order to make a successful capture (This is for Pokemon like Porygon and Gastly)

#5: Finally, a Pokeball must be able to take along anything the Pokemon is holding with it. (Items)

If Genesect was a Cyborghe would fit these requirements as he would be organic enough to qualify for the Pokeball and his armor would count as an item acording to the Pokeball allowing that to come along as well.

But now that he is a Robot, he fails the organic test. And because he is new and was built in secret, the Pokeball aren't updated to know what the heck they are hitting to try and capture.

I had not really thought about that. In all honesty, the character sheet for genesis said that he was in a pokeball until he broke out (again, reflecting on my knowledge from the games, which allows anything to be in a pokeball, since I do not watch the show and movies.) Also, would robots eat pokepuffs, and like them? Because Genesect does have an artificial mouth, now, with this new info, I will work on an instinct kind of arc for Genesis, where his instincts will kick in every now and then, and he will experience hunger as well, if that is alright with you?

Yes, let's settle this. For a moment let's discard this robot thing and keep Genesect at the title of Cyborg (it make things easier for this food thing)

Genesect does indeed have a mouth. You can clearly see it on his front. However, because of the modifications to him he does not need to eat. He CAN eat, but only if he wants to. Now because the Genesect movie was a crock of crap I'm going to disregard that fact that they tried to remember where their home was. If Jurassic Park has taught us anything it's that when turning a fossil into a living creature, necromancy is not involved.

So "Genesis" has no memory of ever existing before, because he was born into the world, not risen from the dead from a past life. BUT all baby animals, even extinc dinosaurs from mosquitos trapped in amber chunks, are born with the natural instinct on how to survive. For Genesis, this entails hunting for food and attacking oncoming threats. Genisis can get off the hook on one condition, his lack of need of food (the feeling of hunger) never has truly kicked in his instincts for hunting. As such, this is the only reason I can think of that this makes sense.

Do we agree

Let me recap it from my understanding, so feel free to correct me, Genesis' hunger never triggers his hunting instincts? Again, correct if I am wrong, really, I could be misinterpreting it completely.

Yes. Because he has never felt hunger, he has never needed to hunt for food so his instincts never came into effect to guide him into hunting.

Basically with my explanation to why his instinct have never kicked in, you are practically free to keep Genesis the way he is. Just make sure that you keep this in mind though in the future.

Ok, gotcha. But could Instinct be used in battle at least, like that of a fearsome hunter going in for the kill? Also, would eating (not out of hunger, just simply whenever he wants) be ok as well (just making sure if it is what you want)?
