Fun fact: All three event Pokemon in Platinum are hinted at before the event actually happens, even if you didn't unlock it as well (-cry again- I never got any of the events)
Arceus is refrenceing MULTIPLE times. Every time you find an item called a Plate (one for each element -except normal-type-) it tells the player there an inscription written on the back. Each one is only one or two lines long and talks about the creation of the world and how "the original one" made it, even gives reference to Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina. Term "Original One" is obvious. Arceus is also mention as another way to interpret a wall painting in Celestic town, and is mentioned in some books at the Canalave City Library. Once again they talk about the creation of the universe.
Shaymin, another event Pokemon is mentioned only twice to my knowledge. Once in Floaoma Town with a woman talking about Garcidea flowers. The second is when you beat the Elite Four, a secret path that was once blocks by a man standing at the entrance opens up to let you through. On the other side is a girl who wants to see the "Pokemon among the flowers" and asks if you can help guide her though the cave and out to the event location of Shaymin (however the bridge to the island doesn't exist without the event so you can't reach it without wall hacks. Darkrai can also be reached with wall hacks by running directly east from Fullmoon island to make it to NewMoon island)
