I've created this OOC Discussion thread for us to keep in OOC communication as we get started with the preparation phase for the RP!

I'm still working on my character and should have her completed sometime in the next few hours.

As per the information I shared with Extra123 in the Interest Check everyone's going to be part of a group right off the bat, and we'll be sticking together for the foreseeable future. For anyone who didn't see my response to Extra123 the logic behind this forced group up is that because the world of Pokémon is so unpredictable and dangerous, even for adults, the Pokemon League requires all new Trainers to form groups of at least 3 people until they each earn a minimum of two Gym Badges to prove they have what it takes to survive on their own.

Once those two badges are earned the remainder of the badges become optional, and you're free to embark on whatever kind of life with Pokémon you so choose whether it's solo or if you continue being part of your initial group.

These groups are decided by the Pokémon League, so our characters are brought together by chance in this way. If you would like to form pre-existing relationships with other characters now is the time to start asking the owners of said characters if that's a possibility they'd like to explore. If they say they'd prefer not to please be respectful of that and prepare to form new relationships from the ground up!

I'll be posting here once my character is finished so you can see what she's all about, and once everyone says they're fully prepared we can get started!

As always, if you have any other questions about how the world works or about any particular aspects of the games you remember which you wonder may or may not fit this more realistic RP world feel free to send them my way either here or via DM and I'll be happy to answer them! I love questions, so don't hold back!

Cheers!

Ah, apologies. I woke up about an hour ago and was going through those who submitted character skeletons while putting tags. My bad!

Which region is this set in? I’m guessing Kanto because of Team Rocket?

Being an OG fan who grew up with the franchise from its inception, I'm going to say Kanto. Depending on how things progress I will probably take a poll to try and help the group decide whether or not we want to stay there or travel to another region once we've gotten our first two Gym Badges.

Legendary Pokémon: Lugia

So, here's my character! Yume Okabe!

The eagle-eyed among you may have seen that there's a section at the bottom showing a Legendary Pokémon, Lugia.

This is because I'm opening the RP for everyone to pick a single Legendary/Mythic Pokémon to either capture or befriend later in the RP if they so desire. In Yume's case, she'll befriend a Lugia rather than capture it. And though the two will develop and share a bond they will not stay together permanently. But I aim to make whatever time they do spend together count.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask away either here or in a DM! I love questions!

Cheers!

Hoyo!

For the sake of a slightly more realistic world, the whole "possessed/former human" stuff is going to be stricken from PokeDex entries. They're just Pokemon, same as any other. For example, the Dex entry of a young boy suddenly transforming into Kadabra while helping with extrasensory tests is kinda dumb and defies all logic and laws of nature. Make sense?

So yeah. No former/possessed human shenaniganry.

As for ghosts, I'm going to keep things (relatively) simple and say they're living physical beings who have the ability to temporarily alter their molecular structure which allows them to temporarily become invisible and phase through objects. Otherwise, how would you ever capture one with a Poke Ball which only works if the ball strikes the mon, ya know? How long they stay invisible or phased is dependent on their stamina and experience with the ability. The older and more experienced a Ghost type is, the longer it can stay invisible and/or phased. Usually this'll max out at around 1 full minute. Otherwise things can get OP and easily abused.

And are the fossil pokemon still coming back like Jurassic Park dinosaurs?

Yes. Fossils will be taken to research laboratories and it'll be a slow and steady process to bring the DNA back to life in a very Jurassic Park-like fashion. I'm thinking a month in-world should suffice.

it all makes sense if you subscribe to the idea that the dex entries are written by children!

That does make a bit more sense than how it works in the games. By any chance, are there any wild fossil pokemon? I assume that they'd be rare and difficult to find, I just thought I'd ask because my guy is something of an ancient animal specialist. So, stuff that is based off of extinct animals without being fossils.

I think it would be kind of dumb if there wasn't at least an incredibly low number of them out in the world. Like, the most extreme of extreme "near extinction" cases almost on the same levels as Legendary/Mythics as far as rarity and scarcity.

So yeah, I think wen can have them out there.

Does this work?

Revel is highly interested in the cultures of each Region, specifically the ways in which the native people interact with their Mythological and Legendary Pokémon. Hoyo peeps!

Since tomorrow's Father's Day I won't be around.

But we'll be just about ready to start on Monday! I'll try to put together an intro post when I have some down time at work. If I can't finish Monday it'll be up Tuesday for sure.

Cheers!

Okay all! I got the intro post up a bit sooner than expected.

Here we are!

See you inside!!

Bit later than a meant to, but slightly expanded cs

Small question before I make a fool of myself when I post, the people non-native to Kanto, is it being treated as them being dropped off in the starter town to meet with Oak and Yume? Or would they arrive in a close by town/city and have to walk to Palette town to get to the Lab? Also sorry if this was already addressed and I just missed it.
