Braelyn looked down at the microphone that had been put near her. What was she thinking about? "To be honest, I don't think I deserve this ribbon." She stated, glancing around at the audience. "This all feels like a surreal dream that I'll wake up to in the morning." She smiled gently, glancing down at her Oshawott. "But none of this would have happened without my Kristina here. She's worked hard, and now she deserves a rest." She murmured, to which the water type agreed to with a few chirps.


She held the ribbon gently in her palm and then smiled gently towards the audience. With a timid wave, she made her way backstage once more. She looked around quickly for Lloyd and Sarah before repeating her question from earlier. "So, did either of you see which way Kai went?"

Lloyd

He looked at Braelyn and sighed since he had lost hearing the crowd going wild and cheering Braelyn on once she left. "Wasn't supposed to battle the gym." He said with his arms crossed.

Sarah

She looked at Braelyn and Kristina with a smile on her face. "I want to watch his battle with you if you would let me."​

Lloyd

He looked at Braelyn and sighed since he had lost hearing the crowd going wild and cheering Braelyn on once she left. "Wasn't supposed to battle the gym." He said with his arms crossed.

Sarah

She looked at Braelyn and Kristina with a smile on her face. "I want to watch his battle with you if you would let me."​

Braelyn Keene

Braelyn glanced at Lloyd, noting his sigh of defeat. She surely shouldn't have been able to beat him. He's won three contests before her. With a small smile, Braelyn nodded to Sarah. "Of course. If you want to. I have another friend who is supposed to be there as well." She mused, remembering how Hiroshi didn't want to battle the gym leader until he had seen Kai's battle.




"And you can come too if you want Lloyd." She added, turning to the boy as she said so. She felt as if she had made at least a few friends in the word of contests. That would make things a lot easier for her.


She returned Eric to his pokeball and began walking out of the contest hall, trying her best to get through the crowds who were leaving as well.

Braelyn glanced at Lloyd, noting his sigh of defeat. She surely shouldn't have been able to beat him. He's won three contests before her. With a small smile, Braelyn nodded to Sarah. "Of course. If you want to. I have another friend who is supposed to be there as well." She mused, remembering how Hiroshi didn't want to battle the gym leader until he had seen Kai's battle.




"And you can come too if you want Lloyd." She added, turning to the boy as she said so. She felt as if she had made at least a few friends in the word of contests. That would make things a lot easier for her.


She returned Eric to his pokeball and began walking out of the contest hall, trying her best to get through the crowds who were leaving as well.

"I'd rather not!" He said getting up walking away annoyed of Braelyn winning.

Sarah

"He's a sour fruit don't worry about him." She said giggling. "Let's go watch Kai!"​

She had just beaten him at her first contest, and he didn't seem like the type of person to take kindly to that thing. Before she could apologize for souring his mood, Sarah spoke up again. The purplette nodded silently, a small smile forming on her face. "To the gym then."

After some time with talking to Kai she smiled as they ended up at the pokemon gym. "I need to go I'll see you later? Good luck at the gym." She said blowing him a kiss as she ran away.

Kai and Charmander watched the girl walk off as they where quite confused on what the heck was going on. Kai looked a the gym door and placed his hand over it ready to open it as he heard charmander's voice. Kai turned his head to look at the orange lizard who rested on his shoulder have a look of determination on his face. Why was it that Charmander was ready to go at it in this gym. A smile grew on Kai's fluctuated face as he nodded at his charmander and pushed the door open as a lady waited for her.

Lady

"Welcome to Evergreen gym~! This gym is grass typed base and the Gym leader is known around here as Lucia Gale, the cutest girl around this city!" She said smiling. "If you wish to battle her walk down that path."

He thought to himself until he heard the name as him and Charmander looked at each other with a confused face. "WHAT!?" They both said looking at each other. Realizing he came to battle he gulped and nodded heading down the walkway.

She smiled at Kai's choices as she commanded her treeko to watch closely. "Make sure you stay on your toes and get ready to move! Also use bulletseed to distract Staravia!" She called out as she saw the little gecko pokemon leap around and shoot seeds from it's mouth trying to hit Staravia.

Sarah

Standing by Braelyn she smiled bright as she watched. "Why didn't you chase after him when he left? He doesn't look very happy. He is your boyfriend after all right?" She said with a smirk on her face.

Stood by Sarah as his arms where crossed. "A gym battle huh?"

She looked at him with a smirk. "Decided to come huh, loser?" Sarah giggled.

Lucia Gale

She smirked as she watched her treeko. "Dodge it then use pound!" She called out as the treeko jumped above Staravia just in time knocking it to the ground. "Follow up with a bullet seed!" She said as Treeko blasted Staravia's back with seeds, dust began to build up as there was nothing to be seen.

Kai gripped his fist as he watched his Staravia get blasted. He smiled as his hair covered his face as he began to laugh. "This is fun!" He called out as looked at Lucia. "Staravia WING ATTACK!" He called out as Treeko was knocked into the air from the smoke as it was laying on Staravia's wing.

Kai looked at His staravia swiftly moving through the air dodging each of the bullet seeds. "Use quick attack Staravia to get close!!!" Staravia did what it was told at it launched towards the Treeko at full speed.

She nodded and looked at Kai. "That's not nice to do to a lady." She said as her cheeks puffed up.

"Why is he having so much fun? It's just a battle?" Lloyd said glaring at Kai as he was trying to figure the boy out.

"You're the few trainers to get my blood pumping!" Lucia said as she did a weird dance and jumped up in joy. "Treeko get off of Staravia's wing and use Bullet seed!" As she said that Treeko get off of Staravia's wing and looked up at Staravia shooting bullet seeds once more.

Kai Takeshi

"Now Staravia use double team!!!!' He called out as multiple Staravia's appeared as some where destroyed by the seeds that where being launched at them. "Now Staravia use wing attack once more!" He called out as Staravia hit treeko with one devastating wing attack completely knocking it out. Once he finished the move Staravia landed in front of Kai and looked back at him lifting a wing up indicating it can keep going. "I'm glad pal."

Lucia Gale

"Nice combo you did there." She giggled taking out the pokeball pulling Treeko back in. "You did good cutie." She said smiling at the ball as she put it away pulling out another pokeball. "My last pokemon. Weepinbell I choose you!" She said throwing her pokeball as a Giant yellow pokemon appeared. (Perfect time to pull out or Dex's ! and scan this!). The Weepinbell looked at Staravia as he seemed serious and ready to win. "Shall we take the first move Kai?" She said with a smirk.

Sarah

Her eyes sparkled up as she saw the Weepinbell get tossed out. "That pokemon is quite the intimidating one huh?" She said laughing awkwardly.

Lloyd

Watching the battle he released Kai's battle pattern, or did he? "So Kai likes to get it in up and personal to get the other trainer to think what to do next? With that mind set of battling he can spread confusion to someone trying to scramble and throw out a move to counter it." He said with his arms still crossed as he was now interested.

Sarah

She looked at Lloyd as he was going on about Kai's battle style. "You figured it out already?" She looked back at Kai as she smiled. "Your right the only moves he used where moves to get him close and land powerful hits." She said nodding.

Kai Takeshi

Smiling still as he was watching the Weepinbell stare at the Staravia. "I don't mind that you can come at me."

Lucia Gale

She smiled as the girl looked at his Staravia. "Weepinbell use vine whip to grab onto Staravia!" Vines launched at Staravia at it quickly.

Kai Takeshi

"Use quicky attack Staravia!" He said as he Staravia launched itself at Weepinbell as it was moving quick dodging the vines. Hitting Weepinbell directly in the face. "Nice job Staravia! Follow up with a wing attack!" He said as Staravia slapped the weepinbell with it's wing.

Lucia Gale

Lucia smiled as she saw her Weepinbell took the hit as it slid back. "use sleeping powder!" She said as the Weepinbell launched out a gas."




Assistant

Running towards the group of trainers watching she hands them gas mask as she runs to Kai handing him one. "Put those one so you aren't affected!"

Kai Takeshi

Putting his mask on he nodded as he Looked at Staravia. "Quick fly in the air towards the Sleep powder and use Gust!" He called out as Staravia flew in the air flapping his wings launched the powder at Weepinbell.


Lloyd


He smiled under his mask as he nodded. "Of course that move was what Kai was hiding for a possibility of this happening! What a nice counter!"


Sarah


"He does move combinations as if he was a coordinator." Her eyes sparkled once more.

Lucia Gale

"Now use Vine Whip to blast away the powder!" She called out as the weepinbell did so as it blasted the Powder away. "Good job! Now grab Staravia while it's distracted." The weepinbell grabbed the Staravia and slammed it to the ground dragging it to him.

Kai Takeshi

"Dang it Staravia get out!" He said looking worried under his mask as he watched.

Lucia Gale

"Now use Poison Powder!" She said as the weepinbell got Staravia close enough and poisoned it as it let the bird go and leaped away.

Kai Takeshi

"Go Staravia Use wing attack!"

Lucia Gale

She smiled as her trump move was finally commencing. "Use wrap and then slam Staravia to the ground." The weepinbell was still in the air as he grabbed Staravia and doing a spin move before launching Staravia into the ground as there was dust for a breef moment and Staravia down for the count. Weepinbell landed as he still looked like he was ready to go on more. "Good job!"

Sarah

"Oh no Staravia went down.." She said looking sad as she took her mask off.

Lloyd

"Interesting Kai how she blended her moves together so freely." He said laughing a bit taking the mask off for a brief moment.

Kai Takeshi

Grabbing Staravia's pokeball he smiled returning him to the ball. "Good job I'm proud of you budy you put some heavy damage on Weepinbell." He said smiling as he looked towards Charamander who was relaxing on Kai's right shoulder. Charamander looked at Kai and nodded as it launched itself on the floor as he was ready to battle. "Char Char!"

The weepinbell was still in the air as he grabbed Staravia and doing a spin move before launching Staravia into the ground as there was dust for a breef moment and Staravia down for the count. Weepinbell landed as he still looked like he was ready to go on more. "Good job!"

Sarah

"Oh no Staravia went down.." She said looking sad as she took her mask off.

Lloyd

"Interesting Kai how she blended her moves together so freely." He said laughing a bit taking the mask off for a brief moment.

Kai Takeshi

Grabbing Staravia's pokeball he smiled returning him to the ball. "Good job I'm proud of you budy you put some heavy damage on Weepinbell." He said smiling as he looked towards Charamander who was relaxing on Kai's right shoulder. Charamander looked at Kai and nodded as it launched itself on the floor as he was ready to battle. "Char Char!"

Braelyn Keene

This battle was certainly getting heated. Neither Pokemon seemed to be letting up, but eventually one had to fall. Until then, Braelyn decided it would be best to simply enjoy the battle and listen to Sarah's and Llpyd's comments.

Kai was definitely a skilled battler. That was shown by the way he guided his Pokemon through the battle. She had a feeling that if she were to battle him, her Pokemon wouldn't have a chance. She wasn't all that great at thinking on her feet and that's why she had decided to take the contest route instead of the Pokemon League.

Sometime during her stupor of thought, Kai's Staravia had knocked out the opposing Treecko. Lucia was quick to send out her next one, and Braelyn didn't like the result. The Pokemon was an odd shape first of all. Sarah was spot on with her use of "intimidating".

At first, the battle seemed to be in Kai's favor. Staravia dodged the Sleep Powder brilliantly and gusted it back towards its source as she was handed a mask. As she watched the battle continue, Lloyd's description of Kai's battle pattern seemed spot on. She silently agreed with the two coordinators that Kai would make a wonderful one himself.

Lucia's Weepinbell had poisoned Staravia by this point, and the battle quickly went downhill. With only a few more strikes, Staravia was down for the count. As far as she knew, that only left one Pokemon for Kai.

Sure enough, Kai's bully of a Pokemon was called out. For a brief moment, she could feel Kristina shifting in her arms as if to get a better view. Braelyn smiled gently down at the Pokemon to see that she was paying attention now. Kristina sure made it look like she hated Charmander, but Braelyn knew it was the opposite.

He looked at Charmander and nodded. "I believe in you pal, seriously!" He said looking at the weebinbell who took out his Staravia. "You ready partner?" He asked the Charmander as the fire on it's tail lit up bright as it cried out it's determination. "Let's do it then!" Charmander gripped it's fist as it watched the Weepinbell.

Lucia Gale

"Weepinbell use vine whip!!!" She called out as the weird looking pokemon launched it's vine as it bolted at Charmander.

Kai Takeshi

"Now Charmander Smoke Screen!" He called out as the Charmander let out black smoke as it covered his location. "Ember!" He called out as little flame balls launched at the Weepinbell hitting it dead on. "Now go in for a scratch while Weepinbell is distracted by the burn!" He said noticing Weepinbell was burned which was perfect!

Lucia Gale

She smiled and let out a small giggle. "Now Weepinbell use vine whip one more time to hit the charmander then follow up with a wrap!" She called out as the Weepinbell tried to hit but Charmander was to fast for it. Weepinebll was knocked back as Charmander hit it two times with the scratch before jumping back gaining distance. Weepinbell looked at the Charmander as it winced of the burn. "Neither the less use poison powder!" She called out as the weepinbell released it's poisonous gas.

Kai Takeshi

"Smoke Screen one more time!" Charmander listened to Kai as the smoke screen consumed the poison powder as they blended. "Ember!" Once more the small patches of fire launched out but something about this made explosions from the smoke.

Lucia Gale

Watching the battle closely she saw Weepinbell get blown back once more but this time damaged from the small explosions that where created from the smoke screen Kai had created. "Nice battle tactic, but we're not done!" WeepinBell vine whip one more time!"

Sarah & Lloyd

"Holy crap their giving it their all.

Lloyd

"The spice form the smoke screen and the mixture with the ember was just nice it was a texture of rapid fire while staying hidden." He said nodding at the battle that was going on.

Kai Takeshi

"I'm sure you are done!" Kai called out as Charmander appeared from the smoke under Weepinbell.

Lucia Gale

"Sleep powder!" She called out as the Weepinbell let out it's yawning powder in the air which was attracted by the smoke screen, but it still hit charmander who seemed to fall over. "Yes! It worked!" Lucia looked at the almost asleep Charmander as she smirked. "Now Finish it Weepinbell with a vine whip!"

Kai Takeshi

Watching his starter get drowsy he got worried as he had an idea that might end the battle. "Charmander before you fall asleep get on your back and spin using ember on yourself!" He said watching the Charmander do a small spin on it's back under Weepinbell launching it's flames into him directly which had knocked it smooth out with the burn affect added onto it. Kai sighed as he saw the Weepinbell faint as Charmander fell asleep.

Lloyd

"HOW!?"

Sarah

"Talk about timing..." She said looking at the sleeping Charmander.

Referee

"The winner of the gym battle is Kai Takeshi!" As she said that the sisters clapped so did Sarah and Lloyd.

Assistant

Walking over to Lucia she handed the girl the badge of the gym to give to Kai.

Lucia Gale

"Thank you." She said nodding at the Assistant walking over to Kai slowly, who was picking up his Charmander. She returned Weepinbell into it's respective pokeball and crouch down to the kneeling Kai. "You did good I really enjoyed the battle because of you I want to keep being a gym leader. I was going to quite and let one of my sisters take over as many trainers never give that interesting vibe as you did." She said smiling handing over the badge to him.

Kai Takeshi

He held his Charmander close as he smiled. "You did good buddy sleep well." As he said that Lucia walked over to him and handed him the badge as well telling him the small story. "I think you should stay gym leader a little longer, you really made me enjoy my dream even more then I did at first. I hope the other hym leaders are like that!" He said nodding.

Sarah

"We should go congratulate him Braelyn."

Lloyd

Walking from the bleachers he headed over to Kai to ask him what made him think of the moves he did.

She watched quietly as Kai used Smoke Screen to counter the Weepinbell's Poison Powder. Honestly, the purplette was a little shocked. Mixing the Poison Powder with the smoke almost made it seem worse than what it could have been. That smoke would spread and then so would the poison. Nevertheless, Kai seemed to use this to his advantage.

The display during this battle left Braelyn in awe. The Ember attack piercing through the smoke as it did would appear just as effective as her spinning Water Gun earlier this morning. The explosions from the earlier Poison Powder simply added to that effect. Even Lloyd seemed impressed with Kai's battling. There was no way he could lose.

And then, Weepinbell landed a Sleep Powder on Charmander. If Charmander fell asleep now, he would surely be down for the count. Braelyn watched as Kai pulled one last risky move before his Charmander fell asleep. Thankfully, it worked and Kai had won the battle.

She watched as Kai began conversing with Lucia and she handed him the gym badge. Sarah mentioned going to congratulate him, and Braelyn nodded. She followed slowly after the other two coordinators, wondering for a moment if she could drag Kai into performing in a contest one day.​

"I'll love to come with you it's up to Braelyn if we actually go with you." He said smiling.

Braelyn gave Lloyd a small smile as he left the gym. That cocky kid was pretty alright when he wasn't in competition. Thankfully, Sarah was a great friend at all times.

The purplette followed silently behind Sarah and Kai, holding Kristina loosely in her arms. For some reason, it was comforting to hold her Oshawott like this. Maybe because it reminded her once more that everything that had happened was real. She had received her Oshawott from the lab, she had caught a Pichu, and she had won her very first contest. Yes, everything seemed like a dream, but it was all real.

Once they reached the train station, Braelyn glanced at the sign to see their train would be coming in about ten minutes. That wasn't too long of a wait, so she sat down on a nearby bench, setting Kristina next to her so that the water type Pokemon could have a little bit of her own freedom to walk around a bit. However, being the mild Pokemon she was, Kristina simply stayed sitting next to Braelyn, only glancing around every once in a while to study the various people.​
