8th Grade - 12-14 year olds.

Travesty.

I've slept in such questionable places as a Marriott lobby bathroom, a bench, my car, and a stairwell so floor sounds pretty luxurious haha
I mean as long as you have a nice blanket... mm...

Meanwhile I haven't slept in nearly 24 hours lol and I'm still Wide Awake :'') y does clock say its 8 AM
So I should probably also figure that out.

I prefer the Dutch system. We are sorted into capabilities, not specifically ages.

Primary school (Basisschool)
Kinda the same as others, though we start counting when kids are 4 instead of when kids are 6 so we have 8 years of primary school.

Middle school (Middelbare school)
This is when the splitting of levels begins. You more someone who works with your hands and not very book smart or someone who prefers books over practical learning, each gets their own place.
The 4 main levels are:
VMBO (multiple sub levels present within VMBO)
HAVO
VWO
Gymnasium

VMBO is mostly practical learning with only the minimal amount of books needed. This variant takes 4 years (aged 16 when graduating) and is where you'll find most practical professions like carpenters, hairdressers, beauticians, mechanics, botanists, farmers, etc.

HAVO is kind of the average one between practical and theory classes. This variant takes 5 years (aged 17 when graduating) and consists of the people who will likely form the middle class/income people.

VWO is mostly theory from books with little to no practical work. This variant takes 6 years (aged 18 when graduating) and consists of professions in the categories of doctors, professors, lawyers, etc.

Gymnasium is basicaly VWO but with added Latin and Greek languages.

If you start at a certain level you can always switch around to a lower or higher level depending on what your capabilities are.

Continued Education (Voortgezet Onderwijs)
After this the continued education consists of what kind of profession you want to be a part of.
So essentially when you are 16-18 years old you are to choose what you wanna do for a job and you go and learn that. (yes you are welcome to switch if it turns out it's not for you and you settle on a different idea)
Depending on what starting level you came from that can be very hands on type of learning (coming from VMBO to MBO) a bit in the middle (HAVO kids going to HBO) and more college and book focussed type of learning (VWO/Gymnasium goes to Bachelor at a University)

It's complicated to explain but in the end it helps to be sorted with people who are at a similar skill level to you. More book smart? go there, more practical? go there. That way you skip a lot of stuff that would potentially be pointless for you to learn/do in order to get to your goal.
