The Human Realm​

The people of the human realm have spent centuries all but oblivious to the existence of anything beyond their mundane day-to-day lives. Above them, cosmic anomalies sweep by, frighteningly close to their precious earth, and yet, no one notices. All around them objects and beings slip into their world unseen. The humans even put some of the most disturbing demons on display for their entertainment, even going as far as to allow their children to pet these creatures without any knowledge of the reason they were banished to the human realm to begin with. The vast majority of humans existed like this, completely oblivious to the chaotic beauty around them, ignorance is bliss after all. But all of that changed just a few short months ago.

It always starts the same, a flickering of the lights, the internet cuts off and all electronics briefly falter. Such happenings are hardly new, or notable even, just a mild inconvenience. But this happens on a global scale, every electronic device across the world starts to malfunction. Depending on the location and type of device these malfunctions can range from a simple loss of power to catastrophic failures such as machinery exploding or vehicles suddenly failing to function. But that's just the beginning. Following the global power fluctuation, an even stranger phenomenon occurs, every time without fail someone disappears, without a trace. Sometimes it's just 1 person, other times whole groups of people simply vanish into thin air. So far humanity is at a loss, unable to find any cause or even predict when the next occurrence of this phenomenon will occur. However, each time it happens, the power fluctuations seem to be worse and more people seem to vanish.

The Demon Realm​

A few months back the demon realm welcomed a human for the first time in quite a while, a lost spirit who had found her way through a strange portal and found somewhere she could belong. While a surprise to many, a single human wasn't anything concerning, her origin and means of reaching the demon realm were understood and by now, those who interacted with her frequently had grown accustomed to her presence. Then, out of nowhere, another human appeared. But this time it was different, this human seemed to have no knowledge of how they had managed to arrive in the demon realm and clearly had no intention of staying. Unfortunately for them, at present there is no known way to travel between the demon realm and the human realm, the only known portal between the two realms having been destroyed.

While the arrival of another human was indeed a surprise, it was nothing compared to what would follow. As if by random, humans would appear in the demon realm, all with no memory of leaving the human realm or any knowledge of how they arrived in the demon realm. What's more, almost immediately after the first unexpected human arrived, the Emperor's Coven stepped in. An announcement was made declaring the humans a dangerous invasive force intent on conquering the Boiling Isles and that any and all humans were to be reported to the Emperor's Coven so that they could be detained. As with pretty much everything, the majority of the citizens of the Boiling Isles were willing to blindly follow the Emperor's instructions, believing his word to be true and his actions to be just.

There was, however, a small handful of individuals who were sceptical of the Emperor's claims, after all, the humans seemed frightened and confused upon arriving and if this was all just an act as the emperor had suggested, then it was a very good act. These individuals banded together to form a group that strived to conceal, protect and aid the lost humans.

Rules:

2. Do not speak for other people's characters - Please don't assume what another person's character(s) will do. If you want to include another character's actions in your own post then please either keep it to things that they have already done in the RP or confirm with the character's owner beforehand.
3. Don't make yourself too overpowered - I don't intend to put any specific system in place for combat etc. I am planning to allow the outcomes to be decided upon naturally by us as the RP progresses. But please try your best not to make your character invulnerable or undefeatable. If you want to use something such as dice to determine outcomes of combat etc, then please feel free to do so. I am open to coming up with a combat system if people prefer, just lemme know in the OOC.
4. Be Nice - Bullying, hate, etc will not be tolerated. Obviously your characters can hate each other as much as they like, but OOC we are all friends and everyone is welcome.

My apologies, that introduction was a little messy, my ability to properly explain things is not always brilliant, (Reassuring for RPing, I know), just in case my shoddy intro didn't quite explain it well enough the basic idea for this RP is as follows: Humans are inexplicably being dragged from the human realm and into the demon realm, the Emperor of the Boiling Isles has deemed their sudden appearance in the Demon Realm an invasion and is working hard to capture all of the humans. A small band of people have formed a group to try and protect the humans from the emperor's coven, putting themselves at great risk to do so.

The world that the RP is set in is an AU, or Alternate Universe, as a result, the RP will take place in the Boiling Isles that we all know and love but with some minor and some more major changes. The following is a short list of details about this version of the world that I feel are important for everyone to know at the start of the RP.

The Emperor: In my mind, the Emperor would very much still be Emperor Belos. I plan to have Belos be an 'NPC' of sorts who I can bring into action when needed to further the plot or something like that. All of this being said, if anyone wants to play as the Emperor, be that Belos as he is in the show, and AU reimagining of Belos or as a completely different character then feel free to say so and we might be able to work something out!

The Emperor: When I originally came up with this idea and posted the interest check, the plan was for Emperor Belos to still be the Emperor but to change the nature of his plans as they play out through the show. However, as this idea has developed in my mind I realised that there is no requirement for the Emperor to be Belos at all. If you wish the play the emperor, either as Belos or as a character of your own creation feel free to do so, just message me as well so I can fill you in on some of the information you would need concerning his/her plans etc. If no one wants the role of Emperor, I may create him as more of an NPC character.

The Timeline: The RP will take place sometime after the end of season 1 in the show, most importantly, after Belos, or whoever the Emperor is in the RP, stole the portal to the Human Realm and it was destroyed by Luz, (assuming we have a Luz). There is no specific point in season 2 I envision things kicking off from, but it must be after the portal was destroyed. This in no way means that every event from seasons 2 and 3 must be played out, this is our story, and whatever we like can happen. It also doesn't mean that everything in season 1 has necessarily happened either. I just felt giving the RP a rough timeline spot might help everyone fully understand roughly when things are taking place.

For the most part, characters will fall into one of 3 categories, Humans, Witches and Demons. Both OCs and Canon Characters are very welcome! The CS' for each will only be templates to help you out, you are more than welcome to change how they look and even the information contained in them as long as all the essential information is present. If you are playing a canon character with any notable changes from the canon please do include these too so that we can differentiate your character from their canon counterpart correctly.

  Life in the human realm is extremely different from life in the demon realm. To your average human, the boiling isles may seem hostile and unforgiving compared to Earth. For the most part, the humans currently in the demon realm are not there by choice, they are victims of whatever phenomenon is dragging them from their world to this world. Any humans who fall victim to this phenomenon will not have been in the demon realm for long, the first cases having only been a few months back. Additionally, many of the earlier arrivals were captured by the emperor's coven due to the lack of protection for them at that time. While humans are still captured more often than they are saved now, their chances of evading capture have increased. As a result, most humans will be thoroughly unfamiliar in the demon realm.
  
  While theoretically able to learn how any spell is cast, humans are unable to naturally perform magic due to their hearts lacking a connected bile sack. The only known form of magic a human is capable of casting unaided is through the use of glyphs which essentially allow the user to borrow some of the magic of the titan whose body forms the boiling siles. Unfortunately, the use of glyphs is almost completely forgotten to time and so very few people even know of their existence, let alone how to use them.
  
  A human who knows the proper way to cast a specific spell may be able to with the use of a staff, training wand or some other object that contains magical power as this bypasses the need for a bile sack as the object can lend its power to the human attempting to cast the spell. However, just like with witches, if a human doesn't know how to cast the spell properly the results can be unpredictable and carry grave consequences.

  Many witches have never seen a human before, and as a result, many of them are frightened by the recent influx of humans and are more than willing to follow the Emperor's instructions to turn them in, fearing for their safety and trusting the Emperor to protect them. After reaching a certain age, witches are expected to join a coven, which generally restricts the magic they are able to use. Witches who don't join a coven are known as 'Wild Witches' and the Emperor and his coven work tirelessly to detain wild witches and force them to join a coven.
  
  If you want your character can join the group of those protecting the humans, join the emperor's coven and try to hunt down the humans or be a neutral citizen, it is entirely up to you

  Demons are the other inhabitants of the Demon Realm, which going by its name, may not be that surprising. Demons are categorised into 3 groups. Bugs, Bipeds and Beasts.
  Bug-type demons possess characteristics that are commonly associated with bugs such as worms, insects and arachnids. They possess an instinct for communication through dance; for a demon outside this category, dance communication is very difficult and can lead to unwanted insults.
  Biped demons, as their name suggests, walk on two legs and, like witches, can have a bile sack. Appearance-wise, members of this type can range from animalistic to looking near-identical to witches.
  Beast demons are usually animal-like in appearance and behavior, though there are examples of Beast demons that possess the same sentience and intelligence as humans and witches, as well as the ability to speak.
  
  You may create a demon character based off a demon in the show or create a new species of your own, it's entirely up to you!
  

Don't worry about posting character sheets here in the interest check, when I have a better idea of the interest I will set up the character sheets thread, I just wanted to include some basic character sheet guides as help for anyone to start planning their characters if they wanted to.

Other information:
Here I will put some other information about the RP that I think might be helpful

Character Limit: You may play as many characters as you like, as long as you feel confident that you can keep up with them all
Post Length: There is no minimum post length or anything like that, I feel like sometimes requesting a massive post in unfair based on where characters find themselves. The only request is that one-liners be avoided if at all possible.
Death: It will be possible in this RP for characters to die, however, a character can only die with the blessing of the person playing them.
