On my part, it's the other way around. I always tag the people that my character has mentioned, so that sort of acts like an invitation if their character would like to speak with mine. It's more straightforward of course once you're in a direct conversation with another. And yeah, I think he is talking to you, too.

Also, I love that direction, I try to do the same or at least use their character's name at a minimum.
