Dice [OOC] - To Stand Against the Crimson Tide

While she appeared to have been dressed in some sense of haste, Sayuri still held an elegance befitting a daughter of Akechi. The pale green satin gown, which paled to a cream at the skirts, almost seemed to flow about her as she walked. Contained only slightly by the dark green embroidered wrap around her waist. Her long, inky black hair, while normally tied back into some elegant braid or tie, was left to fall free and as she stopped to return Lord Paolo's bow, a few strands fell passed her face. Sayuri tucked those strands back behind an ear as she rose from her bow.
Don't forget that as a Dragonblood you usually have some visibly supernatural elements to your appearance. For Wood Aspects a classic is having flowers or plants growing in your hair or a green tinge or bark-like texture to parts of your skin. It's up to you, but if you aren't going out of your way to hide it, most people can tell you're more than mortal.

Oh! Yes, yes. I forgot this. I'll make an edit to my post. I really need to improve Sayuri's character sheet.

Oh no! Definitely not the foot I expected our meeting to start off on, haha I was laughing pretty good reading this part! I pictured Conrad kind of smooth talking his way in, but by showing connection to Sabah he has unknowingly tied himself to her morning shenanigans! 😆 Not exactly endearing himself to Sayuri, lol!
Lol I mean, it might've gone well if it weren't for the timing.

Just to let everyone here know, I posted a check for an Abyssal based 3e game in the Dice Interest thread. Anyone interested in being the bad guys for once?

I haven’t checked out the Abyssal book yet; perhaps I should rectify that.

Oh dear, so many books. I wish I had the ability to read them all and remember everything.
I've been playing Exalted way back in the first edition and I still don't know everything about the game. Just relax and have fun with it.

Random Word Random Word
Just to clarify:
1. Does Droplets knows the Heron was the one that offered her the Exaltation?
2. I took Cult 2 and Resources 3 as the "free" merits granted by the Black Heron, so not sure how to treat these women.

Yes, we don't need uncertainty about who your patron is. That would be a careless mistake on her part her enemies would quickly exploit.

As for your merits, of course you have those. These are just NPCs sent by the Heron to help you. And probably keep her abreast of what you're up to. They arrived very quickly, so you can likely surmise they were already in the area, and perhaps the Heron had an interest in your city before exalting you.

Sorry I've been silent. I'll be getting a post up here soon.
How's it going? Sjet and Garret want to go to the Manse, but I figure if Conrad tells Sayuri about the beach encampment she might summon them over and they might change their minds, or you might all decide to go fix the Manse as the priority.

I'm alive. Working on typing up a post as we speak. I'm assuming Conrad's persuasion roll succeeded? Though I feel Sayuri would've agreed, though hesitantly as Conrad is still a stranger to her.

Persuasion is a complicated thing in Exalted!

First you must decide if Conrad has successfully leveraged an Intimacy of Sayuri's strong enough to compel her to take up the task. Then, if he has, you compare his roll to her Resolve. You reduce your Resolve by -1 if he leveraged a minor intimacy, -2 if Major, and -3 if defining. You can choose to leverage an Intimacy to oppose (like a mistrust of strangers, or foreigners) to boost your Resolve. +2 for minor up to +4 for Defining. Then you can stunt your Resolve, spend essence on any Resolve boosting Charms, and even spend a Willpower to boost your Resolve one point.

After all that, if his roll still exceeds your Resolve, you enter a Decision Point. You can still reject his persuade if you can cite an Intimacy as strong or stronger than the one he leveraged, and that you haven't yet used to defend yourself, and pay one Willpower.

If you don't do that, Sayuri accepts the persuade.

Got all that? 😂

I think so. So, how do I know what my Resolve is? Is that Constitution?

Resolve is like Constitution for your beliefs and feelings. It's (Wits + Integrity)/2, round up. Guile is (Wits + Socialize)/2. Dodge Defence Value is (Dexterity+Dodge)/2. You see the pattern. Static defences in Exalted are usually the average of an ability plus attribute.
