Realistic or Modern OOC: Santa Monica Home for Boys and Girls [Reboot!]

I used to be very much the same way at your age with my grandparents. I'd be on my Nintendo DS at the time playing games when they were around, still talking to them a little bit. But I wasn't really that interested in what they wanted to talk about most the time. Usually it was just stuff between the adults anyway that I didn't understand or didn't care about.

I mean if she wanted to play a board game that would be fun but nooo its always ill teach you how to knit or come watch this soap opera with me or stuff like that and she just doesn't get that I don't want to do that stuff.

so I was just sitting and thinking and well I just felt like it might be cool to think about a character soo I did well two I guess.

So I was thinking their names are Hayden and Hunter they are twins and are like 13.
so Their mom got very sick when she was pregnant with them and when she was at 29 weeks pregnant it got really bad so they had to be born super early and unfortunately their mom didn't live so they grew up with just their dad. Because they were born so early they ended up having several heath problems and were in the hospital a bunch. Which meant their dad was always stressed worrying about them but also about money from all the doctor bills. But even tho they didn't have a lot of money and struggled with a lot of health problems they had a pretty good life dad always made sure they had food and clothes and stuff even if it meant he went hungry. Cause thats what a good dad would do right. Well when they were ten they found out Hayden had heart problems and needed a knew heart. And he got one but their dad was already drowning in debt from all the other hospital bills then this one on top of it even tho they were pretty healthy now the stress finally got to him and well he did something really bad. Hayden and hunter came home from school one day and found their dad dead from shooting himself so now they don't have a mom or a dad and their grandparents just cant take care of them cause they are too old and have their own health problems and just cant take care of the twins no matter how much they wish they could and they dont really have any other family to go to so they are at the home.
oh And hunter.. he likes girls but he also sometimes likes to wear girl clothes.
and Hayden he likes boys and plays soccer.

they both have blue eyes and brown hair. they look like exactly the same except when they dont have shirts on cause well Hayden has the scar from his heart transplant but also because they both have a pretty big birthmark that looks like a half star on their stomachs but Hayden's is on the left side and Hunter's is on the right.

What do you think? its my first time trying to come up with something like that but I thought it might be fun to try and come up with a character!! it kinda was a lot of fun trying to think of all that stuff!!

ooo also Hayden has a lot of those like hair color sprays that are just temporary you know and so he is like always making his hair different colors.
They are also both kinda shy but like not as much as Jack. and Hayden he likes to get into fights well he doesn't like to but hes kinda like Felix and cant stand bullies and isn't scared to punch one

Yeah I get so annoyed when I am like forced to be around when the adults are talking about stuff cause its like I dont care or understand what your talking about can I just go do something else

Oh wow... To be honest that is actually really good for your first time.

You put a lot of thought into this. Given your age, a lot more than I expected to be honest I am kinda impressed. There is a lot going on with both twins between the health conditions and their their dad, and its a little darker than I expected you to go with how their Dad died but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a pretty realistic story. I like how you gave each twin slight differences while still wanting them to be similar.
I totally support the hair coloring. I know you tried some cool color a few months back.

It's a really good start to designing a pair of characters.

haha thank you. I looked at what everyone else did for their characters and was just trying to at least think of about the same amount of stuff you guys did. I wasn't sure how good it was tho I still have no clue how to do it I just went with whatever I thought of and tried to add a bunch of details.

I did that for their dad cause... thats how my dad died only I didn't find him our neighbor did I only saw his room after it happened and he was taken away but my dad wasn't a good dad like Hunter and Hayden's so its okay I dont really miss him.so no need to feel sorry

What else should I do to make them even Better?

and yeah I wanted to try I wanted to see what it was like since my big brothers and my dad like it so much

It can be! I know I had some fun creating Jack, but it took a while to sit down and actually do it, and on top of that, to think of anything good for him and a good backstory and bio.

Plus when I created Jack, I had a lot less experience than I do now, which is why I was thinking of possibly reworking his character sheet? I don't know yet, but I think it's ok for now.

I don't blame her. There's a lot of awful filthy people on the internet. But, that's your dad's call to make. He lets you speak here with us because he trusts us and knows we wouldn't do anything.

At the end of the day, it's not up to her, it's up to your dads, but I sadly can't blame her for not approving of it since there are so many awful and creepy people out there on the internet.

Looking at other people's characters is a great way I know I often do to get inspiration. I might see someone talk about how their character say is part of a club or does a sport and ask myself. 'I wonder if my character likes any particular sports?'. Honestly having never done this before its a really good start. As is taking interests of your own like dying your hair and incorperating that.
Your characters shouldn't be just you, that typically doesn't work great to just write yourself. (You didnt though,) But giving your characters some interests of your own and stuff is not only fun, but also makes them easier to write about. Cus you know what your writing about then.

This is already a great addition. I think just figuring out more of their interests, even small things of what kinda things they like or dislike can add a lot. Do they like particular food, what kinda things do they spend their money on (food, games, sports, movies, they're broke and have nothing to spend, ect), do they have any really big fears?. Questions like those can help I find in adding a lot of extra depth to the character.
These things can be changed and added to in time though so they can be a thing you figure out as you go along.

It is something your big bro's and Dad here clearly enjoy, but writing like this isn't for everyone. Its a hobby we find fun.
