'When Izanagi went down to Yomi to retrieve his wife, he saw her as a decaying corpse covered with demons. Izanagi rejected her, making Izanami furious, leading her and a few monsters to chase after Izanagi. Izanagi then blocked the entrance to Yomi. However, a few demons and oni escaped the underworld through a crack in the boulder, including Fujin and his brother Raijin'

^Apparently, Raijin + Fuujin were given the same tasks as Azani and the hags demons until they switched sides^^ In one lore Raijin was sent after Izanagi, caused a bit a havoc, then got beaten by Kannon~

Maybe would have to think on it azani is the kind to if she could actully help het sister despite their mutual hate. Her brothers I guess she hates more because they betrayed her abd their mother .

Raijin is easily dislikable, given his personality, but amusing.

As for Fuujin, he's like a father figure/superior to Nagi since the travel god emigrated to Japan and a chill guy^^

Can any of you explain what Ayakashi/Phantoms are, truly? They seem to be used more as a narrative device more so than being actual threats or characters. Is their sustenance based off consumption of negative emotions or corruption?

More to the RP side, what is the difference between a human-like Ayakashi and non-human ones, outside of intelligence? Not being giant monsters seems to hurt their threat levels somewhat too.

I wish I could, but not even the manga explains it lol. I'm just using the Noragami wiki definition: Phantoms . Everything else is up to player creativity. 'Ayakashi' is actually just a generic term for a type of Yokai that appears above bodies of water. They were never really 'characters' in Noragami (since most of them were pretty much un-intelligent creatures used for narrative device in the manga=P) and I just tossed that role up for players who want to take an opposing spin to gods (play demons and such). It's actually the more difficult role next to spiritual human because there's really no structure to go off of in terms of creation. As for their sustenance...*shrug* Maybe both lol. I'm going off the former, but they kinda do the latter as an aftereffect of consumption. Or they do the latter in order to consume negative emotions since they seem to be "drawn to it" according to wiki...but whichever you think makes the most sense to you based on the limited info provided to us by the manga. If you want your 'evolved' phantom to be a bit different, it can be =P

The human-like part is just so players have an easier time playing a role that pretty much just say 'smells nice' in the anime and how I explain away the fact that your character isn't the same as the sort of generic phantoms (eyeball things) you see in Noragami that get defeated in a single slash/chant. Whatever abilities you want to add is in your hands. I will only say no to something that's "too OP" for the rp. If you want create a giant phantom character, be my guest lol, but too large (like nation/world-size beast category) would fall under too OP for this rp. Phantoms come in all sorts of shapes and sizes if you want to go that route instead. Noragami is mainly (imo at least) a story about relationships between gods and their regalias, but I decided to add additional roles like spiritual humans and phantoms to delve into different POVs and provide the option for people wanting to explore/get creative with that route^^
