Fantasy (OOC) Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

I have a few clear memories of it but not many details

i remember having my 4th hour in the school lounge to do online classes. During the Oberon plot I remember checking my phone every ten minutes or so because I was excited to continue the whole time for days.

Oberon arc was like a global quest in an rpg if I think about it.

@RunicFollowerAight, let's discuss this character. So you have a really interesting concept, and you actually opened a can of worms I hadn't considered yet when you started playing with the idea of experimentation and trying to take Mage abilities through science. I'll roll with the idea, and you don't have to come up with the whole process in detail (I don't think I could unless I thought about it REALLY HARD and for a really long while, and even then I don't know that I could from the medical perspective), but it's going to be a more complex procedure than just taking someone's arm and incorporating it to your body. Magic is special that way — it's not quite an exclusively physical trait like muscles are. I know how ridiculously vague that is, but does it make sense?

other than that I think you'll be good.

Tried to make it a bit more believable hope you like it

I felt a meme was an appropriate response.

Have you considered evolving?  For tanking everyday life I suggest an Umbreon, or Vaporeon.

With everyone except me having responsibilities, I think it can be forgiven!

@Kalin Scarlet I'd recommend Nerfing Daevan a bit. He's pretty powerful as he stands now. Welcome back!

Hey! I'm a member of the Colorguard at my school and we just entered our winter season so I'll be extra busy(plus I have to deal with school) :/ I'll try to check in on the rp as frequently as I can but I wanted yall to know if I didn't reply for a bit.

That's totally alright dude. I was also in winter guard; actually, when I get home in a couple weeks from my volunteering I'll be helping ours out some!

Lol I seem to be the only one with ample time on my hands. Probably why you see my name at the bottom a whole lot(but also since I do this primarily on my phone and if I don't manually close the browser it'll remain as if I am forever stalking the page ^-^;)

Also I have a question to the admins, are we measly peasants able to start our own cases. Say I want to start a storyline involving @Azure Sky 's Ark-D introduction and the murder of the troll,Azure agrees, and perhaps another member decides to have their char go with Mo on the case would that be cool with y'all?

That's A-Okay. You have that freedom! We will start some, but you can investigate on your own too if you want.

Cool, thanks!

Also I have another question for yall, what is considered "peak human" in this world? If you don't quite understand what I mean the perimeters and qualifications for what is considered "peak-human"(the highest a human could possibly achieve) is different depending on the universe. For example in his universe Captain America Steve Rogers represents the absolute peak of human development achievable without being superhuman, sort of bordering on the superhuman scale(100% peak capacity). This allows for feats such as strength enough to snap steel handcuffs-leap 10 feet through the air without a running start-bend steel bars-and stopping a helicopter from taking off, durable enough to the point where he could get hit by a metal baseball bat and feel little discomfort(however still be vulnerable to gunshots, knives, etc), and run at like 50-60 miles per hour.

Then on the other hand you have characters from other universes such as DC where peak human is also used where they can bench press 1,000 lbs plus do some incredible and outrageous things(I'm looking at you Batman >.>) but still seem to be vastly inferior to the likes of some of Marvel's characters who also have been given the title "peak human" even though the things they do border on superhuman

Steve Rogers runs at 40 mph, which is in theory the maximum speed a human can achieve if they release extremely little fatigue toxins. With the exception of reaction speed, his strength and durability are not superhuman. They have been achieved in real life. The same goes for Batman. Peak humans in both Marvel and DC have more or less the same feats. If Bats and Cap ever go beyond that, its because of adrenaline.

In this RP, peak humans are more or less like those in Marvel and DC, with the exception of reaction speed, which is actually realistic.

A peak human in this RP:

  • Speed: 40 mph
  • Strength: can lift a maximum of 500 kg (achieved in real life)
  • Reaction speed: incredibly quick reaction to anything below and equal to 200 mph. Why? Because something which moves at 200 mph is the fastest thing the human eye can follow, while the fastest thing we can perceive but not follow is something moving at the speed of sound.
  • Durability: surviving falls from great distances, withstanding hits from wooden baseball bats.
  • Destructive ability: punching holes through concrete and brick walls with ease (punching holes through walls was done in real life by people who were without a doubt not peak human, so peak humans doing it is not exaggerated at all)

Ah I see, that makes sense. However I would have to respectfully disagree on Marvel and DC having the sort of the same frame for what they consider 'peak human', his durability and strength have been stretched to lengths of superhuman proportions in both the cinematic versions and the comics. So has Batman, which is a little less believable since he doesn't do magic drugs that turn him from a scrawny kid to the Star Spangled Man with a plan. Not even that but lesser tier heroes such as Hawkeye has done somethings that should be impossible such as being able to catch arrows while blind(which was Mythbusted by you know :P), getting hit with one hundred bullets from every direction and surviving, and basically being impossible to hit with bullets at his peak.

Thank you for clarifying that for me though :)  Also would you be interested in what I said above about Ark-D?

I never said everything they did was belivable. As I said before, if they were ever stretched to superhuman lengths, there are factors such as adrenaline, and the fact that Steve Rogers actually does have some powers which are perfect genetics, contaminant immunity, and a body which keeps itself at peak even without constant training. Those pay a huge role in the superhuman feats that he achieves.

I'd like to remind you that Batman's costume is not a normal one. Some of his feats may seem superhuman because of his costume. Nonetheless, I see no huge difference between DC and Marvel peak humans.

Btw, as a side note the likes of Daredevil, Deadpool, and Black Panther are superhuman (just in case you also thought about them when you made the comparison).

Thank you for clarifying that for me though :)  Also would you be interested in what I said above about Ark-D?

Sure :D

Right, so Greyston's probably gonna move on to another case. We have like almost more villains than agents it feels like right now so Piper and Luke will probably be handling this one.

Ok time for Skyfallen to make an appearance...wanna have him on the Black Dog case?

He can if he wants. The outcome's gonna be different this time; we've modified the situation significantly so that it can be legitimately resolved. I'm game to have Skyfallen on that case if you wanna put 'im there!

@Kylesar1@Sleipnir@Hel

So after watching that "Batman explains how to defeat the Justice League including himself" video, I couldn't help but think how such a thing would look like in this RP.

Enable protocol: Red Cross

Should any of the core members of the Department turn rogue,  we need to have plans in place to handle each and everyone of us. Aside from the fact that each core member is a highly trained individual with extensive knowledge of the supernatural, they also know and have access to dangerous secrets, thus this had to be done. We always need to be prepared for worst case scenarios. Nonetheless, these plans have the purpose of neutralizing, not killing.

File codename: Dandy Moon

Corin Greyston is a gentleman, whose moral values are outshined only by his ability to flirt, but he is nonetheless, a vampire. A highly intelligent one with extensive knowledge over various governmental secrets. The possibility of him giving in to his bloodlust, or turning to the other side, is definetly not zero. His vulnerability to fire, or holy objects may be difficult to exploit. Nonetheless, if one could spread magnezium powder on his body and cause it to ignite, the combustion would reach an extremely high temperature, causing a high amount of damage and completely neutralizing him. Alternative: hemophobia; must investigate feasibility of post-hypnotic susggestions.

File codename: Spirit Whisperer

Sanja Thorne is a sweet and naive individual, who by nature is not prone to violence. Nonetheless, her power over the Dreamscape and Astral Magic is highly dangerous. Should she learn how to better control such powers or make them evolve to greater levels, she could become dangerous on a planetary level, should she ever turn rogue or be controlled. She may as well be, the most terrying member of the Department. Words can't even describe how lucky we are that she is on our side. In case she becomes a threat, wasting her on spiritual energy is the first thing to do, afterwards see Department files for full list of magical sealing objects and their probability of success.

File codename: Origin Magus

Azure Skyfallen, one of the few people in the world who can use Arcane Magic. He can counter any other type of magic, and is able to affect any type of being through his esoteric art. His ablities make him highly versatile, and extremely hard to deal with. The current best strategy to deal with him is to overcharge him with mana. Such a thing will cause headaches, dizziness, and symptoms akin to those of motion sickness.. Afterwards, a piece of the contained alien Ark-D Rebbulf can be used to create a full-body sealing device, which would neautralize his ability to absorb and conduct mana, because of the nature of Ard-D's molecular composition, as well as his ability to move.

Note section: concrete counters for other members need further research.

Luke Cross: magic dispersion + EMP

Piper Reed: mind games and complex traps

That's all I could come up with for now. What do you think?
