That'd certainly work - think his background with the sudden wanderlust fits it, too. Wouldn't want to make you change the entire concept because of a technicality that I overlooked.

I'm fine with it. I don't want to have you make a bunch of changes on my account. You've already let me pick the minotaur race, after all.

That one's to my own benefit as well, though - I mean, I get to see a minotaur in action as well :)

If it wouldn't be the core point of your concept, I' d just propose to drop adopted if you're not really using its benefits - but in this specific case, that'd feel weird.

No worries. I added the World Traveler to Nyx and dropped the Reactionary one. I like having a well studied minotaur.

It will certainly break a lot of stereotypes of the 'mindless brute' that minotuars have.

His true nature will become apparent when Psychie goes for wizard levels at 9.

Just stumpled about a house rule by accident: If noone minds, we'll replace the carrying capacity with 'characters may carry a reasonable amount of stuff without doing all the stupid math'. Just as per rules, heavier armor will slow you down etc., this is just a change to the inventory. I don't want someone to drop that single torch just because it's the difference between light and medium encumbrance or something like that.

You can call me anything! (except late for supper har har)

Wow! You are good. I will double check those errors in my CS but I am almost positive you are right. I got a little confused with some of the little things. Also, awesome, I will add another trait but idk what. Can you help me with the second domain thing? I didn't see that in my readings but like I knew I missed it.

As for the background stuff: I will delve deeper into those things and really explain everything even more so. But I can say he doesn't know much about his mother. I am not sure how important she is to the story and I didn't want to make her like some huge figure. But she is wealthy and she is a high elf. He isn't even sure where she lives now. Maybe you can help me with that one.

See the pm for more domain stuff - for the background: If he doesn't know much, that leaves many options for me... so that's good. Not sure if she'll show up at some point, but it's too much of an ongoing thing to not use it. I'd assume she didn't have much reason to move, so maybe tell me where Benji grew up: the north, or around the capital in the center of the country? The north is still more wild and primitive - the region around the king's residence is quite advanced, given medieval standards. In the north, the one city I really named thus far is Northcrown (besides the Bastion in the north-east). That'd be a week of travel away from the Bastion, more or less, so close enough to be influential. Depends on how close to home you want Benji to be.

Speaking of travel. About how far away is the Kobold mountain? And does it have a name?(the mountain and tribe)

Let's say about three days on weasel-back. The mountains are called the Devil Ranges, after your north-eastern neighbors - that's how much they respect you. Dwarves know them as the Fallen Halls of Clan Berudin. They probably call your tribe 'the fricking kobolds in the north', the wild elves might call you simply kobolds or 'the blue ones'. Maybe by your actual tribe name if they want to be polite, but that one's your choice.

@Silanon
Do you have room for one more, or you want to keep it to 4 players?
Think I'm comfortable where we are right now - would like to get things under way soon-ish.

Ha! They respect us so much they name us after mighty infernal beings. Clearly they are in awe of the threat we represent and have given the name as a warning that we should not be tangled with.

Will also come up with a tribe name shortly.

Also given that Grit knows dwarven, would it be reasonable that he would know some dwarven lore about the fortress, such as what it was called?

Cool beans. Was asking cause I had someone who was interested in joining. I'll let them know we are full.

Maybe will simple call them the Duggers for shorthand or what others might know them. Given their propensity to more greatly favoring hunkering down in their mountain fortress than going on great numbers of raids. But officially they might call themselves Clan Arauthrax, combining draconic names meaning defense/maze/traps/trickery and huge/massive/large. Being proud of their home, and having been able to have defending it against the humans and dwarves.

He'd definitely know the clan name, at the very least - translate any memorial plaque or anything of that sort , and you'll read it at least twice. And dwarves like to remember any minor achievement their clan brothers might have accomplished. You might know bits and pieces about its lore, though not all of it, certainly - you know it as a kobold stronghold, after all. You do know the layout (obviously) and the former primary functions of most of the larger halls. You'll also know more stuff, but we'll probably specify that if it actually comes up.

Sounds good to me - let's go with those names.
Do we have an estimate on a start date? I'm anxious to start.
No promises, but I was hoping to begin with the first post at some point today - no idea when it'll be done, got a few things to figure out to make sure you end up on the same side of the happenings.

Good question, since riding without one gives you a disadvantage on ride checks... just had a look, can't find any hint that they come with one. All I could find is the list with animal gear, including saddles. Doesn't quite answer the question, though. I'd assume that bareback is the default option, and would probably go with that unless I manage to find something else - mostly because there are different kinds of saddles.

I'm surprised that there are no simply basic saddles that just get rid of that penalty.

Though maybe a complimentary saddle is based on how friendly the animal dealer is.

Would ranks in ride or animal handling help or negate that penalty any?

From the overview for the ride skill (Ride (Dex; Armor Check Penalty) – d20PFSRD):
  • Equipment If you are riding bareback, you take a –5 penalty on Ride checks. If you have the Animal Affinity feat, you get a +2 bonus on Ride skill checks. If you have 10 or more ranks in Ride, the bonus increases to +4. If you use a military saddle you get a +2 circumstance bonus on Ride checks related to staying in the saddle.
So basically: Having ranks in ride counteracts the penalty, animal handling does not. Note that you don't need a ride check for everything; it might show up in combat, though.

I'm not too worried about it, personally. I have a +8 in ride. So I'm still in the positive riding bareback.

The only saddle I can buy is a pack saddle, but it explicitly says that it doesnt allow a rider.

Alrighty - anything I can help y'all with, for now? Anything that you always wanted to see in an rp, but never did? Any stuff that you've seen way too often, and don't want to show up? Let me know, I might be able to add it to the mix or avoid it. Just don't list war, dragons, wilderness, magic or unicorns under 'we don't need that'. That'd be bad.

Nothing comes to mind that I definitely don't want in the game, and I suppose the stuff that I do want is the usual stuff that most players wish for: Lots of good loot and exciting encounters!
