Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

((It's okay, I've been really busy))


". . . I'll do what I can." Lucius' fingers curled at his sides. "And if I can't manage it . . . hit us both."
 
((That was his name btw right? Couldn't really remember lol))


"No!" Natalie screamed out. "You can't!"


"There has to be another way to get rid of him," Melody agreed, not going to let Lucius put himself in danger.


He glared at Natalie first then at Melody and said, "I don't want to hit him either, but something has to be done about him."


((I actually almost forgot what's going on lol))
 
Lucius only shook his head, even as Archer put a harsh hand on his arm. "You can't just give up! You could beat him if you tried!"


Lucius shook him off. "I have tried!" He gave Archer a glare and looked at Alrin again. "Just wipe his memory clean, whenever you get the chance. If I get caught in the crossfire, then so be it." He looked at Archer again, firmly. "He starts acting up again, and you take care of him."

((Yup lol ^_^ . Also catching up on Teen Wolf too since I wasn't able to watch it while my internet was out! I just finished watching the episode where Jackson and Scott got into a major fight in the locker room))


"Master please," Natalie begged.


"I'll try to hit only Lukas (he really does need a name lol), but I can't guarantee I won't hit Lucius. When I hit Lukas, when he is dazed and confused about what's going on, I'll then cast the freeze spell on him. If I don't hit you with the memory spell Lucius, I want you to get out of there fast. If I do hit you, Archer, get him out of there quickly so I don't hit him with the other spell."


Melody and Natalie were both very worried and scared.
 
((Oh, cool :) I'm at ep 11 of season 2 so if you get beyond that, no spoilers lol I'm going to work soon, so I'll probably disappear))


Archer gritted his teeth hard, fists clenched where they rested, and gave a tight "Yes. Sir." in response. He didn't like any of this, but he knew that if Lucius had set his mind to it, there was no changing it. He was always trying to be the hero, and Archer had always known it would get him killed.
 
((Episode 8 right now so okay ^_^ and bye have fun though it is work lol))


"Lucius please don't," Natalie begged him.


"Natalie, go," Alrin said. "This doesn't concern you and you have work to do."


Tears were in Natalie's eyes, but she left, knowing she was only going to make things worse if she didn't. She couldn't help but feel helpless.


"We will be able to get his memories back...right?" Melody asked, not thinking it was fair he made Natalie leave.


"Over time they should return naturally, like if he had normal Amnesia. The only thing the spell does is suppress memories, not destroy them completely, or the spell I'm going to use anyways. After all, I don't want Lukas frozen like that without knowing what he had done. I could even try to unsuppress his memories afterwards, but only if I hit him, which I don't think I will."
 
(( blargh busyness T-T I'm still on the same ep, I think. Mostly because I found this freaking amazing new web series on youtube and I watched that in my free time instead lol))


Lucius looked after Natalie with a mix of sorrow, regret, and a bit if anger at Alrin's treatment of her. But he nodded at the older man and just took a careful breath until he could unclench his fists again. "If it comes down to it, and it doesn't seem as if ill be able to get out of the way somehow, do me a favor and kill us both instead." He said, shaking his head slightly. "I don't particularly want to be frozen forever." He had a feeling that no matter which of those options happened, if Lucius was frozen or killed, Archer would kill the wizard.


((Today at work, I walked my art straight into a pole because I was looking at one of those handheld price scanners as I walked -_- thankfully we were closed and only one other employee saw, but I now have a bump forming on my shin from where I kicked the cart as it stopped. . . Proof I cannot be left alone. Ever xD I will now go to sleep with an ice pack on))
 
((You really really need to get to season 3 *Sigh* now it's me telling you you need to get on watching them so we can talk about it and you are missing some serious shirtless Derick. Not sure if I spelled his name right or not, but yeah and that's all I'm saying for now. Also, man, I hope you aren't as hurt in the morning. But don't feel bad, I broke my pinky toe one time, stubbing my toe not once, not twice, but three times at the same freaking time lol. First on the coffee table, then on mom's computer desk when I went to kiss her goodnight, and then, since that wasn't enough, I had to stub it on a box of mountain dew. Three of my toes were bruised for at least half a month. Also, just curious, but...would you or would you not want Lucius to get hit by the memory loss spell, or do you just want to do something completely and totally different?))


Alrin nodded and Melody held back tears. "Please don't," she begged. "Just please don't."

Lucius looked at Melody and just took a step away. "I don't see what else I can do. . . I have to go prepare."


((Oh, and because I'm stupid and missed your last note - sorry - I've been having this vague idea that maybe what's-his-face (I keep not wanting to call him Lukas since it's so close to Lucius) will manage to injure Archer, to the point that at first it looks like he's dead, and Lucius gets so worked up he's stronger than what's-his-face long enough to either kill or incapacitate him or - Ooooooo O.o Take away his powers maybe? Maybe Lucius is a special Raven that can do that :3 Like Aang lol))
 
(( ^_^ and yeah sorry, horrible at coming up with names, especially for guys lol. And yeah, that could totally work and I love Avatar. Totally up to you which one he can do))


Melody bit her lip, not sure what to think and looked at Archer. She was very worried. "Would you be able to undo the spell?" she asked Alrin without looking at him.


"Unfortunately, as of right now, no. There is no counter for it."
 
((Maybe we can call him . . . Norrick? Norik. Spelling it that ways simpler lol


Also I watched season 3 ep 1 last night and JESUS CHRIST HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH AN ALPHA PACK!? Hw does that even work!? And the leader is a blind dude!?))


Lucius was walking away, and Archer just clenched his fists almost hard enough to draw blood. "But it'll wear off. Right?"
 
((It will make much more sense as you go along. But I had the same thoughts lol. And yeah, Norik is great. But man this season is driving me insane lol. Is there a season 4 yet?))


"The memory loss spell will," he answered, noticing how angry and upset they were. "The freeze spell is relatively new, I have yet to come up with a counter for it."


"What do you mean new?" Melody asked angrily.


"I make my own spells," he answered. "Only highly skilled wizards can do that."


She didn't like that answer one bit.


Natalie waited until Lucius left before going after him. "You aren't really going to do this are you?" she asked, tears still in her eyes.

Archer shook his head and just grabbed Melody's hand, pulling her away. "Let's go, Melody."


Lucius shook his head when Natalie approached. "I'm sorry, Natalie, but I can't back out of this. There's more at stake than just me."
 
She followed after him and said quietly, "Other than meeting Natalie, I regret wanting to join the circus. I hate this."


Natalie frowned, but nodded. "I guess there's no point in trying to change your mind."
 
Archer nodded slowly along with her, just walking. "I'm not any happier about this than you are."


Lucius shook his head and took a careful breath, let it out in a quiet sigh, then straightened his posture to attention, as he'd been taught. "I was raised a knight, and born a Raven." He said, his voice firm though not quiet happy. "I have to do this."
 
((Going to bed, took an allergy pill and it's making me so drowsy))


Natalie bit her lip and nodded, fighting back to the tears. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek softly, blushing. "Please be careful."
 
((Sorry, I meant to reply after work yesterday and I've been super busy))


Lucius blinked, surprised, and unconsciously touched a hand to his cheek where her lips had touched his skin. ". . . I will. . ." He said quietly, and turned to start walking away because he didn't want to say goodbye. He was a knight, and a protector, and he had to do this, was determined to do this, but it didn't mean he wanted to die, and it didn't mean he wanted to remind himself that he might.

Natalie watched him walk away, and was still standing there when he was gone. It was only a few moments afterwards that she actually went to do what she was supposed to, but she was still very worried.


Melody was quiet, she didn't know what to say. She just grabbed Archer's hand and held it tight.
 
Archer sighed softly after a long moment of silence, and just squeezed Melody's hand back. "I'll try and talk to him, all right? But no doubt now he's in one of those weird bubble things of his trying to get ready, so it'll have to wait. . . Try not to worry too much."
 
((I'm still on ep 2 of season three, haven't watched it yet. Been too busy, and when I'm not I got lazy lol I'll let you know when I watch more))


Archer only sighed. "Yeah. . . I hope so too." He squeezed her hand again. "Come on. Let's try to relax as much as we can." They would have a lot to deal with tonight, but it would have to wait.

Archer just sighed softly and led her back towards their tent so they could relax a while. "Let's just go sit down. Eat something soon, so we'll have the energy we need."

Melody sat down with him, but she didn't eat much or really anything. She couldn't.

Later that day, Alrin was waiting for Lucius to come out and continue with their plans.
 
((Sorry, I keep wanting to give this the reply it deserves, but I was just occupied with a lot of different things yesterday. Not even 'busy', per say, just occupied :( ))


Lucius had, for a long time, only rested inside the bubble of shadow, not wanting to expend too much of his energy in practicing but needing to concentrate and 'find his center', as someone had once said. When he was calm and focused, he found Alrin just to go over the plan, knowing the twilight hours wouldn't last long nd that it was best to strike then. There were a lot of shadows, but still some light to see by, during that time.


"Ill do what I can to hold him," Lucius said, "but I think our best bet is just to wait until he starts talking to me again. If I can keep him talking, he'll stay relatively still. I'll keep to the edge of your spell, so you don't have to exit it." He didnt want Norik being able to sense Alrin and know what they were planning.
