Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

((It's okay ^_^ . Though before replying I should ask, how are we going to do this and yet do the idea you gave?))

((Oh! Sorry. I might not reply now since I'm with a friend, but we can just have Lucius and Alrin talk, and I'll have Archer get injured when he tries to talk Lucius out of it, then Lucius goes berserk like planned lol))

((Okay then ^_^ .))

Alrin nodded. "Alright then, and try to stay as far away from him as you possibly can in case I can get a hit on him. I don't want to accidentally hit you."

Norrik, meanwhile, was waiting just outside of the barrier, hidden, as he always was while he followed them. He had to be prepared for when they were ready to come out and face him.

((And you are complaining of not being able to give a decent post :( ))

((lol it's fine. Kind of can't do anything until I advance the story anyway))

Lucius only nodded. "I'll do what I can. Just, hit him with the memory spell first, and if I get caught in it Archer will be ready to pull me out." He left after that, because there really wasn't any time to waste. Alrin had already described to him the space where the shielding spell ended and was nearly over it by the time Archer caught up and stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Hold on," He said quickly, a serious expression on his face as he stood in Lucius' way. "You have to rethink this, Lucius. You can't just go out there to die for-"

Lucius frowned at him, gaze fierce and defensive. "For what? For people. People that don't deserve to die any more than you or I. There are always people in danger, Archer, and there will always be people like me that choose to sacrifice for the rest. Not everyone is as heartless as you."

The way Archer's eyes widened, Lucius regretted the words immediately, but after a few short seconds of silence something felt off. Something felt wrong. Archer's knees buckled and he fell forward without making any moves to stop himself, Lucius catching him with difficulty and starting to lower him to the ground. "Archer? Arch -" Lucius' blood ran cold.

There was a black blade sticking out of his best friend's back.

((D: Noooo! I was so not prepared for that lol. Archer will be okay? Right?))

A laugh could be heard coming from the bushes. "How so mundane," the familiar voice said. "I'd say your wrong about you friend," he added. "He did just sacrifice himself for you after all." He smirked then, before yawning. "Too bad he's not a Raven though. Why don't you come out here and fight like a man instead of hiding behind your friends?" he remarked, throwing some more blades at him. "Maybe I'll make this interesting," he mused. "I could let you live, and show you exactly what shadows can do. Exactly why regular men fear us so."

((Of course he will! He's too central to the rp to kill him off xD ))

Lucius didn't so much as lift a finger, staring wide-eyed at the motionless form in his arms. But the blades stopped, not inches from his head, and when he raised his head to look, tears beginning to pour down his cheeks, his eyes were not black, but white. Archer's body slid quietly to the ground as Lucius rose to his feet, his eyes turning automatically to the space the shadows had come from, even as he shattered them without so much as twitch of his hand.

Black slid over his skin, covering and shielding and growing until the only light remaining on his body was the startling contrast of the white over his eyes, and the few glistening drops of moisture that dripped off his chin. It bubbled and twisted around his limbs as he took the first slow step forward. Suddenly, it all shot skyward, a shape of wings and beak and claws showing in the air even as he let out a hissing breath, baring black fangs. In a shot, he was off, his movements blurred and nearly invisible though he hadn't used a shadow to transport himself from one place to the next.

The bottom of tree Norik had been hiding behind shattered into fragments, and the crash of it hitting the ground was almost deafening enough to block out the animal screech that came from the young Raven's mouth.

((Lol ^_^ and really great post btw!))

Norik's eyes widened in fear as he watched the boy he was threatening actually turn into a Raven. That was a gift, while not unheard of, was extremely rare and suddenly Norik was wishing he hadn't chosen Lucius to get next. He tried not to show he was afraid, though that wasn't working out to well for him. It was when the tree behind him shattered into pieces with a deafening crash that made him cower like the wretch he was. "No hard feelings? Right?" He asked backing away. "I mean...we're both grown men and can talk this out?"

Alrin stood there, dumbfounded at what was happening. It looked like he wasn't going to be needed after all. How could this young boy hold so much power though? Maybe he would be a lot more useful of finding that group of Ravens than Natalie is.

((I have my moments :3 Making people into creepy creature-things is fun))

Lucius stood in place as splinters of wood fluttered to the ground around them, dust settling back to the ground from where it had rose. He looked at Norik, eyes unsettlingly focused though his expression remained unreadable through the shadow covering his features. He didn't answer, only took a slow step backwards, until his back touched the giant bird of shadow resting behind him, and he sunk out of view. The bird flapped its wings with renewed life, host and master settled inside, and screeched into the sky, the sound floating over and around and through the camp.

When it leaped forward at its prey, it did so beak first.

((= ^_^ =))

Norik backed up and watched in horror as Lucius settled into the bird and flew off in it, only to be heading straight towards him with his beak. It didn't matter what he tried, no matter how he attacked, it had little effect against the bird. He tried running and dodging from the bird, still throwing out his useless attacks.

((I think I may have made Norik a bit weak. *sigh* I suck at playing bad guys lol))

((No, but if you think you can do him better then feel free lol. I just don't think I'm giving Lucius a good enough fight lol))

((Eh, we'll just keep going together lol))

The bird shot into the air above the trees to track the fragile being fleeing from it below. Lucius slid from the belly of the beast up to its back, watching below as it circled, and finally just leaped off its back. He came down atop where the older Raven should have been, had he not leaped through shadows to get away, and the sound of the earth cracking beneath the impact could be heard all through the camp. The ground rippled beneath him, ripping up in a circle around him as his drop created a small crater around him, and he let out another fearsome screech even as he felt through shadows for Norik's new location. No more playing. It was time to crush him underfoot.

Norik was still in the shadows, hiding from him there and trying to find somewhere he could resurface that was far away from him. "Feeling" eyes on him caused him to flee from the shadows and he felt disoriented from where he surfaced, and unfortunately for him it was in a crowd of people. They started screaming and running from him, guards turning their attention on him. He was sure to die either way now, but at least with the guards he had a chance of escaping.
((Goodnight))

((Gtg to sleep now. Night!))

Lucius locked on to the point where Norik emerged and followed just seconds after, but he took the Raven with him. It reappeared far, far above, re-shaped into something more serpentine, something more like a dragon, and its form blocked out the sun for the portion of streets Norik had taken to hiding in. Lucius had reappeared just behind him, though, and a strong hand covered in shadow closed around one of the man's arms as he started to run away. Glowing white eyes locked on the man, Lucius showed his fangs and held up his free hand, poised to strike with shadows pointed off his fingertips like claws. People were scattering and he was drawing the shadows around them, obscuring them from view. He would block the guards off completely if he had to.

((Night and I guess I could do one more reply lol))

Norik screamed as he saw the shadowy dragon overhead, blocking out the sun. He was trapped, knew he was doomed when Lucius grabbed his arm and was poised to strike. His fangs! Never before in his life had he seen a Raven like this. Never in his life had he been so terrified. In a last attempt to save his own life, he drew on the lie that he had told him before, hoping it would work. "You would kill your own brother?" he asked him.

Lucius hand stayed held up in place, poised to strike, and his eyes settled on Norik's, the words shaping strangely but understandably around the extra teeth. ". . . You already have."

Overhead, the dragon roared, and on the ground, blood spattered to the dirt.

((Dag on, Lucius suddenly turned bad ass lol))

Fear could be seen in Norik's eyes before there was nothing left in them and he fell to the ground. Guards were running towards them, though they were very frightened because of the dragon in the air and the scene before them.
((Would you be interested in a zombie rp?))

((Hmmm, I don't really like zombies very much...))

Lucius looked, calm and unbothered, at the guards hovering nearby, then just stepped backwards into a shadow and disappeared. The dragon faded from existence, flying into the light of the sun and disappearing. Lucius resurfaced near where the fight had begun, a few yards from the shattered and fallen tree, and walked the distance to where Archer still lay. The shadows drifted off his shoulders like tendrils of smoke as bits of his own skin began to show beneath, and he kneeled next to where Archer still lay. The blade in his back disappeared with a wave of Lucius hand and the Raven lifted his friend carefully into his arms, a spark of hope in his chest as Archer tried to breathe through the blood in his mouth. At least he was still alive.

((Oh, okay then ^_^ ))

Natalie and Avry had heard the commotion and debated against going to see what was happening and before long decided to go and look. They both ran to where they knew the fight was to take place and saw Lucius holding Archer. "Archer!" Melody screamed before running to them.

"Is he okay?" Natalie asked running to them as well. "What happened?"

Melody held onto Archer's hand as Alrin came up to them. "I have to say, I'm quite impressed."

Lucius hissed faintly as the others approached, his features still obscured and changed, and his fingers curled tight and possessive around Archer's shoulders and in his hair. "He tried to kill us," Lucius hissed, fangs still somewhat in place, eyes still a burning white, "And you're impressed?" His voice was low and dangerous, even as he moved a hand to the wound to cover it and stop the bleeding to see how deep it went. "If he dies I will show you impressed."

Melody and Natalie both stopped when they saw Lucius, they were afraid of him as well and backed up from him.

"I'm impressed with you," Alrin spoke up, keeping his distance as well. "Let me see the wound, I can heal him."

His teeth clenched tight, Lucius pulled Archer up against him until he could cradle the thief's head against his shoulder, his free hand, ripping a neat line down the back of Archer's shirt to expose the wound. The injured boy's torso convulsed, once, twice, and he coughed up blood that ran down Lucius' shoulder to sink into his clothes. He only stayed still, and kept Archer in place. "Quickly."

Alrin knelt down next to them and placed a glowing hand on the wound. He closed his eyes and muttered something incomprehensible to the group and in a few seconds, pulled his hand away. At first, nothing happened, but then the wound slowly began to heal itself, and all that was left was a scar and blood that would need to be washed off of him. "There, plenty of rest and he should be good as knew."

Lucius turned Archer slightly so that he could cough up what remained of the blood and free his lungs. By the time the thief had settled again, Lucius was back to normal, visually, his expression a shuttered mask over pain and fear and a very powerful desire to not be anywhere near here anymore. He lifted Archer up into his arms as he stood, and just started walking, giving the others a wide berth so that he wouldn't see them move away from him again. "I'll take him back. . ."

"I'll take him," Melody said heading towards them, seeing Lucius was back to normal again. That transformation of his face still shook her up a bit though, as well as Natalie. Melody carefully supported Archers wait, despite the fact he was a bit heavy for her, and helped him walk back to the tent where she laid him down carefully. She left for a few moments to get some water and a rag and came back, wetting the rag and washing the blood off of his face gently.
Natalie went up to Lucius when Melody had taken Archer and asked, "Your face was...I've never seen anything like that before."
