Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

His story just made her feel even more horrible for taking at least Lucius from the world he loved. Archer, however, wasn't seen with them, so it was okay for him to leave and go back without being harmed. She was about to apologize, but didn't, knowing Lucius wouldn't like it. "I had a very sheltered life," was all she said on the matter. "I didn't even know some people could control shadows like Lucius can," she said.

Archer laughed before he could stop himself, then at least had the grace to look a little sheepish afterwards. "Sorry, sorry. Just - Hardly anyone knows about him and his kind, darling. They like it that way. It means they get hunted and killed less."

Lucius glared a little. "Archer. There's no need for that."

The thief only shrugged. "She's out in the world now. She has to be strong enough to know its darkness alongside its light."

Archer was laughing at her and she blushed a bit with embarrassment. "I know," she said. "But....I don't know much of anything outside the castle walls, except what I read in books and what I know now. I didn't know there were people who had little to nothing.

Archer looked at her, assessing, for a long moment, then looked at Lucius for confirmation. Lucius jut shrugged a little and nodded and Archer frowned. "You're serious. . ." He took a minute or so to contemplate that, still frowning a little to himself. "I've seen sheltered people but good heavens, girl. You've a lot of learning to do."

Melody nodded, confirming that she was telling the truth. "I wasn't even really allowed out of the palace grounds, the garden I could escape to, but even that was walled in," she told him. She sighed softly. That was another reason she wanted to get away, she couldn't stand having to stay in all the time.

Archer just raised an eyebrow. "Sounds more like slavery than princess-ship to me. And you enforced that?"

Lucius frowned. "How did this become my fault? I was just following orders like I was supposed to. Unlike some people, I can follow rules."

Archer just stuck his tongue out and made a rude noise.

"My parents....they just worried about me is all," she told him. "Though, I don't think they fully understand who they were marrying me too, or if they did it didn't matter and I just had to get away and that was what inspired this."

Archer sighed and just laid out on his back, fingers laced together beneath his head. "We knew that part, deary." He said, shrugging. "Well it's all said and done now. They can miss you all they want. You're not going back."

((What now?))

She looked over at him for a moment or two before looking up back up at the sky. "So...where are we going after here?" she asked them.

((Hmmm, I'm trying to think of how we could start a romance between Archer and Melody, or if we should just throw her and Lucius together... Maybe they get into a dangerous situation and she's all scared so Lucius kisses her to try and reassure her and calm her down?))

((Okay, but we still have to figure out how to get Lucius to realize he likes her. He's not really the jealous type

Also, what sort of situation could we get them into where Lucius wouldn't be there? An ambush, maybe, but i'm not sure what we could do to make Lucius separate. Maybe he's going to set up their hotel and get the horse in a stable and some thieves Archer knows kidnap them?))

((Oh, yeah, that works perfectly ^_^ . As for Lucius realizing he likes her, maybe...I don't know. Maybe her and Archer's relationship could hit a snag and maybe he goes to comfort her some and that's when? IDK.

((I made such a difficult character for this -_- I can't get him to stop being angsty. Okay, so I guess skip to the next town?))

It took a few days, but they finally reached another town that was safe for them to stay in. Not wanting to cause trouble again, Lucius agreed to Archer's suggestion that he go and set up their lodgings for them, take the horse and their bags away. Archer linked his arm through Melody's when Lucius was gone and just grinned, pulling her away. "Come on then, Mel, my girl! We have shopping to do!"

((sorry!! Movie distraction))

((Playing games and had to go to the post office anyways ^_^ ))

"Shopping?" she asked as she followed him, arm in arm. Then she got excited. "Are we going to buy a bow and arrows?" she asked him hopefully. It was about time, she had waited anxiously to shoot a bow.

((I hate post offices. I don't know why, I just do))

He smiled and just led her forward towards the market. "We need food and other supplies and - oh," He waved a hand, flippantly, as if it were just an afterthought, "Perhaps a weapon or two, if the fancy strikes us."

((Lol, I don't really mind them.))

She smiled, excited and happy. "Finally, an archery lesson," she said. "But yes, we do need food and supplies," she said. They still had some money, but they were beginning to run a bit low on it. "We need to come up with more money," she told him. "We still haven't sold my mother's necklace yet."
