Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

She watched the clouds rolled by until Archer got up to ride off and she watched him go. She sighed softly and looked back up at the sky. A cloud's shadow passed over them and that made her think of something. "Lucius," she said. "Tell me more about what you can do with shadows, please." She was genuinely interested and wanted to know more.

((Goodnight))

Lucius paused and thought when she asked him such a sudden question. He put his palms together, briefly, and when he opened them a small black bird rested inside, the right shape but without so much detail as a real bird. He made it flutter up on its little wings and go over to her, landing it near where her head lay on the ground. "Lots of things, I suppose. . . Can't get it to make sound, though. I haven't really had much chance to test out all I can do. I never had time or a space where no one would catch me at it."

When he made a little black bird, she rolled over to see it and smiled. "Wow," she said. "That's amazing." She reached out to poke it softly. "When we are traveling," she said. "I wouldn't mind watching you practice."

Lucius flinched slightly when she touched it and hadnt really considered until now how much he could feel through his shadows. Not much, but enough to jolt him. ". . . If its safe, for sure, I will. . .lord knows I need the practice."

She saw him flinch and looked over at him. "What's wrong?" she asked. "Did I do something?" she asked.

Lucius shook his head a little and just fluttered the bird up into the air, changed it into a butterfly and let it drift around. "Nothing's wrong. Just . . . I've never really felt anything with them when I'm not fighting or trying to. It surprised me, that I could know you were touching it without seeing."

She watched in amazement as he changed the bird into a butterfly. "You...felt me touch it?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.

He shook his head. "Not . . . Well, not exactly. I don't feel it like I would if you touched my skin. It's just . . . I can sense it, somehow. I don't feel it, but I know what it's touching. Sort of." He sighed. "I don't know how to explain."

She looked at him and nodded. "I understand," she said. "Kind of. So you don't have to explain." She rolled back onto her back and looked up at the clouds. "I hope it's not going to rain," she said. "There's a lot of clouds. I hope Archer hurries so we can eat before it does, if it does."

Lucius gave a faint little smile. "It's all right. Ill just give us a cover if it rains. I don't think it will though." He could feel it, sometimes.

((Sorry, was at a friends house, then a small concert in my town, and then dinner))

He nodded a little. "It's nice. Not too cool for swimming but not sweltering. The lake hasn't quite warmed up, though." It had been rather cold when they'd gone in. Archer hadn't minded, but he was used to horrible conditions and danger and so generally didn't mind anything he had to go through personally.

((Sounded fun ^_^ . Bed for me though, really late))

She smiled at him softly. "Yeah, it was very cold. Luckily it wasn't too hard to get used to," she said happily. "I hope you had fun," she told him.

He smiled faintly, guessing a bit of what her thoughts might be, and nodded. "I did. Thank you." He didn't want her to think he was still being a sad sack, even though he mostly was. Still, he was capable of having fun every once in a while.

She smiled. "Good. So...what do you want to do when we get back?" she asked him. "We could start sword training?" she asked. "We could do that here, or....what?"

Lucius shrugged slightly and just laced his fingers together beneath his head, looking up at the sky. "We'll need swords for that, unless we find good enough sticks to use as substitutes. I don't think we can start training immediately." He paused, considered. "Though I suppose we could use shadow swords, if we're going to be this far away from any other people."

She frowned when he said he didn't think they could start training immediately, but when he suggested using shadow swords, she lit up. "Would I be able to hold one?" she asked him curiously. They would be shadows after all.

Lucius nodded, looking over at her. "Of course. You could feel the bird, couldn't you?" He sat up and looked at his hands for a moment, visualizing what a sword might look or feel like. "I can't say it won't feel strange, but it will be tangible." He also couldn't guarantee it wouldn't just disappear at some point.

She could, she thought, though...it didn't feel like an actual bird. "As long as it doesn't harm," she said, not wanting to be cut by it on accident. Though...could shadows cut? They could certainly grab, she saw that enough times.

Lucius shook his head. "I'll have a read on it the whole time, so if either of us slips somehow I'll just get rid of it. Worst thing that can happen is we miss and knock heads."

She nodded and stood up. "Alright then," she smiled. "Let's get to it." She was excited, that she was actually getting to learn to fight.

Lucius frowned a little but got to his feet anyway. "Right now?" He wasnt sure it was the best idea, but they were mostly dry so he couldn't really argue. "Will . . . All right, I guess. But you can fight me so soon. Ill give you a stationary target. You can use a tree if you'd like."

"Why not now?" she asked. "We are doing nothing except waiting for Archer to get back, so when he does, we can stop and eat," she told him. She nodded when he mentioned using a tree as her target and waited for him to give her a shadow sword. When he did, she wondered what he was going to teach her first.

Lucius shrugged and made a sword. "I guess so." He said, and handed it to her. Just pick a tree, leave your feet as wide apart as you shoulders, and hold it how you think you should. Ill correct you."

((I fell asleep while lying on the floor. . . I think that means I need a nap, but I don't have time for a nap -_- gtg bye))

((Okay then))

She took the sword and stood in front of a tree. She spread her feet apart, estimating they were as far apart as her shoulders were and held the sword up by the hilt. "Like this?" she asked.
