Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

"I hope you don't mind the blanket," she said. "You two looked cold last night and I thought it wasn't fair that I had the bed. You can take the pillows too next time too if you want. I don't mind, really." She wanted them to be as comfortable as possible. "And there really is room in this bed for one more if you would prefer that," she said. As long as they faced away from each other, she didn't see anything wrong with that.
 
Lucius glanced down at where Archer was still curled under the blanket and refused to turn red. "It . . . Thank you. I think that, for now, I shall prefer the floor." It wasnt proper to sleep in the same bed as a lady, and part of him was still operating under the feelings of a guard put in place for duty. He wasnt supposed to be near her, let alone touch or sleep in the same bed.
 
She sighed softly. "Pillows and blankets it is then." She got up and headed to the window to look out. It was a beautiful day today and the birds were singing. She smiled softly. "Let's go do something," she said. "It's such a beautiful day and I don't want to spend it inside."

Lucius looked at Archer again, nodded and just got up onto his knees to shake the thief. "Up, Archer," he said, just so his voice would be there to identify him, and caught the hand that grasped for him, presumably to catch his throat.


Archer blinked at him from where he lay and relaxed, yawning. ". . . Morning."
 
((I gotta go do dishes now anyways, so see ya later))


He really didn't like being woken up did he? She wondered how long he would've slept if Lucius didn't wake him up. "Morning," she said to him. "We are going out," she said. "Want to come?"
 
Acher took a moment to process, brain kicking up to its usual speed, and gave a sleepy smile as he sat up. "Of course. I'm always up for an adventure."


Lucius looked at him. "Except when you're sleeping like the dead."


". . . True."
 
She chuckled softly at them. "Okay then. So...what do you guys want to do? I'm fine for anything. Maybe we could go for a walk. Or maybe a swim. I've always wanted to learn to swim," she said.
 
((haha xD No versions of her know how to swim, huh?))


Archer looked at Lucius, a gleam in his eye that made the dark boy slap his shoulder. "Don't give me that look. Back in line, soldier." He shook his head and got to his feet. "I'm sure there's somewhere around here with a large enough body of water for it.


Archer gave a loud, put-upon sigh. "Oh, fine, we'll keep clothes on."

She wondered what that look was for and why it warranted a slap, but just shrugged it off. "I hope so," she said. When Archer spoke, her face turned ten shades of red and she would've slapped him herself if she wasn't froze to where she was standing. She didn't even know if she wanted Archer swimming with them then.

Archer gave Lucius a wary look, edging slightly away so as to avoid being hit again. "I'm at least going in with my skivvies, and you can't tell me otherwise!" He didn't particularly have the clothes to spare, so Lucius finally sighed and shook his head.


". . . Fine. Just . . . At least try to act respectable."

Melody didn't have the spare clothes either, but she wasn't going in naked or even in her underwear. She thought that her clothes could dry. They needed a good wash anyways. She was still a bright red though and said, "Okay then. That's....acceptable," though she was still embarrassed a bit by it.


((A crazy idea just hit me, so I'm perfectly okay with you saying no lol. I was thinking, what if, where Archer is more outgoing and what not, it's easier for maybe Melody to get a crush on him and maybe something could happen between them. If so, then Lucius could probably get jealous and then we can just let the drama ensue ^_^ ....I hope that made sense anyways lol))
 
((Hmmm. Well, I wouldn't mind, but would Melody do that? She's been scared of him the whole time))


Lucius wanted to try and defuse the situation somehow, but there was nothing to be done about it, so he just stuck a few of the inn's towels into a bag to use and be brought back and nodded towards the door. "Let's go, then. We can take turns getting dressed. Archer, you can use the bathroom in the lobby."
 
((True didn't think about that lol. So never mind lol. I did say it was a crazy idea lol.))


She nodded and got up, still blushing red, and went to follow them both out the door. "I hope it's not too far away," she said. "In case something happens and we need to get back fast."
 
((It would've been funny though, if he hadnt done that to scare her before xD ))


Lucius shook his head. "It's not a long walk." Worst come to worst, he would send Acher on the horse with her and just disappear into the shadows to follow. No one would see him in the trees. When they were all dressed and ready they headed out, taking the horse just in case, and started walking in the way Lucius remembered from the map and Archer from memory. Archer had a little skip in his step and was smiling.


"This is gonna be fun!"
 
((Well, I could make it to where she gets used to him, with him no longer threatening her and him just being funny and a bit childish. So we could do that and see if it works lol and I agree it would be funny.))


She didn't really change, except into a much plainer dress that she had brought with her and was a bit relieved she didn't have to tie her hair up like she would have if it was long. She was starting to like this hair cut more and more. When they headed to the lake, it was still a bit awkward with Archer in his skivvies, but just reminded herself he wanted to go naked, so she could live with that. "Well," she said. "Which one is going to teach me to swim?" she asked a bit shyly.

Lucius rolled his eyes as Archer jumped right in without checking temperature or depth. The thief disappeared underneath the water and resurface a while away and Lucius waded in in an under shirt and a pair of short pants, until the water hit his waist. "It's not very deep." He said, glancing back at Melody. "You can stand for a good distance in."
 
((I knew ^_^ lol, I just like the word skivvies.))


"Okay," she nodded and got into the water. It was cold, but she tried her best to ignore it and waded further into the water to where Lucius was, shivering a bit. The water went up to his waist, but it went up to her tummy halfway. "It's cold in here," she said. But then she smirked and splashed him with as much water as she could, laughing. It was high time they had some fun.
 
((Me too :3 fun to say))


Lucius gave a startled little sound and held up an arm to shield himself at the sudden cold on previously dry skin. Archer started laughing from where he was floating around, though, and after a moment Lucius had to smile a little and just gave a much smaller splash back at Melody. "Unfair. If you were Archer, I would've dunked you."
 
((Yes it is lol. Also, have to go, but will be back on later ^_^ ))


She squealed a bit when he splashed her and laughed. "I guess it's a good thing I'm not Archer," she teased. Though, she wouldn't mind him dunking her if she could swim better and wouldn't freak out. "Though who said anything about it being fair?" she asked and then splashed him again, running away and laughing.
 
((Me too, but not quite sure when ill be back. After dinner at some point))


Lucius laughed a little, mostly to himself, and just followed after her, trying not to laugh again at how slow she moved through the water. "You know, it's a little slow going when the water's covering more than half of you." He was slower too, of course, but had less of his body covered and more strength than her. He was catching up slowly.

"Yes, it is," she said laughing. She turned around and splashed him again before changing direction. Soon though, as she headed more towards the middle of the lake, the water grew deeper and deeper and she had to stop and turn around, but she had gotten far enough to where it was very hard to move so easily and the water was up to her neck. She started to get scared. Why was she this stupid?
 
Lucius chased after her, playing along with the game, until she turned around and started looking distressed. He realized her toes were probably hardly touching the ground anymore and had already started to move closer to her when Archer swam up behind her and pushed her back towards shore by underneath her arms.


"Whoa, there" Archer said, grinning a little but making sure she was back to where she could touch before letting go. "Don't want to drift too far out."
 
Lucius was heading towards her, but Archer came to her rescue first. He swam up and grabbed her, pushing her back towards the shore. She blushed a bit with embarrassment that she had been stupid enough to continue going that far, even when she felt it was getting deeper. "Thank you," she said to Archer, biting her lip softly.
 
Archer just nodded and swum around them a bit until he could stand next to Lucius, an arm on the other boy's shoulder. "'S what I'm here for!"


Lucius rolled his eyes. "Sure you are."
 
Melody chuckled a bit at the two of them, before thinking a moment. "So...how do you actually swim?"
