Realistic or Modern Of Crows and Omens

She woke up in the morning and grumbled a little that he was trying to get out of bed but let him go when he promised he’d be back, waiting impatiently and moved to curl up close to him. “Mmm what time is it?” She mumbled

He noddd and went to wait downstairs sighing quietly as he looked through things he needed to get done, starting to regret taking on the role that he had.

Noah groaned happily as she cuddled up to him "Almost 7, we should get up soon." He murmured kissing the top of her head gently "What time did you want to go to the offices?"

Max came down around 30 minutes later and yawned a bit "Ready?" She asked softly as she went over and kissed his cheek.

She frowned and shook her head. “Not at 7.” She mumbled, scooting closer every so often even when she was pressed on top of him, just laying there whining a little. “Not close enough.” She muttered.

He nodded and took her hand on the way out to the car, shaking his head a little. “I am very ready for winter to be over." He muttered, "Lauren has promised to get back to me about booking the holiday by this evening." He told her "I've asked her to book it for right after the conference... I think we both need a break." He told her

Noah chuckled and wrapped his arms around her squeezing tight "There, that close enough?" He teased as he watched her.

Max smiled some and gave a small nod "Yes I think we do for sure. It'll be nice to fully have some us time and not think about work or the family." She said softly before kissing his cheek and heading to get her shoes on.

She frowned a bit and huffed. “It’s gonna have to do.” She mumbled even with her cheeks squished between his arm and his chest, not letting him move until her alarm went off and she finally got up to go shower and get to the office, starting to get really grumpy the closer they got to heading over there.

He nodded in agreement and started making his way to the car with hee, leaning back once they were on their way. “Where do you want to go for lunch?” He asked her yawning a little.

Noah made sure to dress nicely for going up to the office. He still wanted to make sure to make a good impression on Ragnar, so that he wouldn't change his mind. As they arrived he held her hand giving a small smile as he saw Max enter in at the same time "Oh look, Max is here too." He said quietly.

Max shrugged some "I'm not sure yet, I will near lunch time though I promise." She said with a small laugh before falling into a comfortable silence after. As they got to the offices she waved at Carmen and Noah smiling widely as she saw their hands intertwined.

She muttered under her breath a little and grumbled, in a fully foul mood by the time they got to her office, going to get an energy drink out the fridge. “You’re gonna be working with Ubbe…. It’s not definite but it makes the most sense.” She muttered. “Which means you’re not gonna be around all day anymore.” She pouted at him.

He frowned a little when she was ignored and shook his head. “Spoilt brat.” He muttered and shook his head, going up in the elevator with her. “Well think of somewhere please so we can book a table.” He pointed out

Noah gave a small nod and chuckled some "I'll be doing the big boy work huh?" He asked before kissing the side of her head "I like Ubbe atleast, he seems to be well rounded."

Max nodded some and got on her phone to look over everything "Italian sound alright to you? I can call to reserve the table." She murmured

He nodded "That sounds fine love." He assured her, heading into his own office and rolled his eyes as Hvitserk was immediately coming in to collect Max and take her for a chat in his own office "Good morning to you too brother." He muttered as he watched them walk out, getting grumpier by the minute.

Carmen frowned and looked up at him, "I don't care if it's big boy work.... It means you're not gonna be at my beck and call anymore." She muttered, leaning to sit against her desk while she watched him sit on her couch "I'm gonna have to bully someone else now." She muttered, shaking her head

Noah chuckled as he plopped down on her couch "Promise not to waste all your bullying on them?" He asked as he watched her with a small smirk on his lips.

Max looked at Hvitserk a bit confused but gave a small smile "Hey Hvitty, whats up?" She asked as he pulled her away from Ivar.

He nodded and stepped into his office with her, locking the door behind him and gestured for her to take a seat, "I'm trying to do this discretely cause I'm sure you don't want the whole family knowing just yet... but Ivar told me that you're pregnant... Are you seriously keeping it?" He questioned her "And don't get shitty with me, I'm thinking practically... How long is Ivar going to live for Max? Can you safely assume that he's going to even make it to this kid's second birthday?" He questioned her. "Do you want to be stuck with Kalf's kid on your own?" He muttered

Carmen rolled her eyes "Not gonna make promises that I can't keeo." She told him, glancing up when there was a knock at the door and she watched Leif open the door and escort a young man inside who looked far more nervous than was normal even for this set of offices "Thank you." She told him, gesturing for the new guy to take a seat in the chair "If you're this nervous just interviewing... how can I be sure that you'll be able to keep me safe?" She asked him, smiling as he glanced over at Noah "Think you seem a suitable replacement for this man?" She asked, looking to Noah and seeing the disdain he already had. She would never admit it out loud but the biggest reason she'd kept him in there with her for this was for his opinion on these men. She'd found early on that he was good at reading people and she valued that in him

Max frowned deeply as she listened to him letting her hand fall towards her stomach "I have no delusions about Ivar's health. I know he most likely does not have long left. I understand this is Kalf's child but it is also mine as well, and this might be the only chance I have. I love Ivar more than anything, but I know a child is far from his mind and his fears of having his own. I appreciate your concern Hvitserk, but I think this will be okay." She explained to him.

Noah watched the man and shook his head a bit. He could tell he had no ill intentions, but he was too much of a child for this. "If a bullet were to come near her, would you step infront of it?" He asked the kid seriously while leaning forward placing his his elbows on his knees to support his upper half.

He sighed heavily and shook his head. “I think it’s stupid. And if Ivar wasn’t so in deep with you he would tell you the same but he feeds your delusions because he wants you happy. He can’t keep that up forever.” He muttered and unlocked the door for her.

She watched the young guy stutter through an answer and flicked her hand toward the door. “We’ll call you,” she muttered, watching him walk out, going through around ten more before finally asking Leif to send them all home because she was over it for the day, looking to Noah. “You look pissed.” She sighed, reaching for his hand so they could go get some lunch.

Max gave a small glare and stood up walking towards the door "Thank you for your opinion Hvitserk." She muttered before leaving and going to the break room to make a drink for herself.

Noah got up and shook his head as he took her hand "I just don't see why those 'men' even showed up. They're all kids that don't know what the fuck they're doing." He muttered while they walked towards the elevators.

She glanced up at him and smiled a little. “So why did you show up?” She asked him. “Cause I know you didn’t really want the job… was it not cause I pay really well?” She pointed out. “Why don’t I leave that job up to you then? Finding me your replacement.” She suggested.

Ivar made his way into the room to get a water shortly after and smiled at her. “You look angry…. I’m not rubbing off on you too much am I?” He teased her.

Noah gave a small chuckle and shrugged "I knew what I was getting into somewhat. Plus I had lived in the life before." He murmured giving a small nod to her suggestion "I think I can handle that."

Max gave a small laugh and sipped at her drink "No, just your brother giving his opinion." She said with a small shrug and sighing softly "Ivar....be honest with me, do you think I should go through with the pregnancy?" She asked quietly

He sighed a little and moved to sit down. “I think you need to be prepared that I may not be here as the child gets older. But you will certainly be looked after financially… you know as well that I won’t give you children myself.” He pointed out.

She nodded and went to get lunch with him, just the two of them for once, going to the ramen place around the corner.

Max gave a small nod and sighed softly "All things that I have taken into consideration, and I would still like to have the child." She said quietly.

Noah sat quietly with her as they looked over the menu at lunch. By the time they had ordered his hand was in hers smiling some "So, I'm not asking for this now, but do you want marriage in the future? Like do you want the big wedding and all that?"

He nodded "Okay... As I said... This is up. to you love." He told her quietly, kissing her cheek and starting to head back to his office "I'll only be another half hour or so alright? Then we can go get lunch." He promised.

She smiled at him a little and nodded "I've had my wedding planned since I was eight years old." She told him, "I would elope with you if that had been the only choice but now..... Now we get to have things perfect." She pointed out. "But I hope you realise that my father will now expect us to be married within a year or two... He will have a timer on his blessing from the moment he gave it." She pointed out.

Max nodded and sipped at her drink again "Alright, I'll be in here." She said quietly before turning the TV on to watch the news quietly while he went off.

Noah gave a small nod and rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand "I guess I better get my shit together then huh?" He said quietly smiling softly at her. He was a little scared to get married so quickly, but he knew he wanted her forever, so if thats what he needed to do then he'd do it.

Ivar smiled a little and waved to her before shutting the door to his study again, an hour passing and then another and he still hadn't come out of the room.

Carmen smiled a little "If it makes you feel any better... I can have a large wedding put together in a matter of a couple months with the funds I have... So you have time to be ready for marriage.... It's just that it's been years of me mentally prepping for it to happen at any moment." She told him quietly, sitting up once their food arrived "We should head back to pick up Leif after this and go home... I'll leave the rest of the recruitment to you." She told him quietly.

Max frowned a bit when the second hour passed and got up to check on him. She knocked quietly at the door and walked in "Ivar? Darling, is everything alright?" She asked in a gentle voice.

Noah nodded and smiled some at her "Well if I'm being honest, I never thought I'd be married so whatever you want I'm good with." He said happily before sipping his drink and sighing at the mention of his replacement "I'll definitely try to get that done by the end of the week."

He was passed out, slumped over his desk and pale as a ghost, his phone in his hand where he’d clearly been trying to call someone before he’d blacked out.

She nodded and leaned back watching him. “Im glad you took the job by the way.” She told him. “Very much so.” She smiked, digging into her food until she heard her phone ping and glanced down at it with a sigh. “Ivars taken another turn.” She muttered.

Max yelled for Hvitserk when she saw how bad Ivar was. She quickly dialed 911 to get an ambulance on the way while Hvitserk rushed in and checked him over "I don't know what happened, I came in and found him like this." She explained.

Noah gave a small frown and nodded some "I'm sorry love, they just say he is in the hospital again?" He asked as he started to eat as well.

She shrugged. “It gets to where I run out of sympathy cause he won’t slow down his lifestyle.” She told him quietly, shaking her head. “You ready to go home? Light a fire? Relax? Skive off my work for the rest of the day?” She smiled.

Hvitserk frowned and crouched near him, tapping his face to try and wake him up some more. “Ivar… Ivar!” He frowned and moved him as carefully as possible so that he wouldn’t end up suffocating himself.
