Of Brick and Stone (open)

Shotgun leaned back into his seat. The car had become deathly silent and Shotgun knew nothing to say to brighten the mood. Was there even anything to say? Shotgun shifted his eyes out the window and watched the landscape pass by as the car took them to the rebel base.

When they reached the base, Relena gave them a weak smile before walking away. Aaly hopped off the hovercar and sighed

"That... Didn't go well" She mumbled as she looked at the door her friend had disappeared through

"No," Shotgun said shaking his head. "It's didn't. But I think more then anything she should be alone right now. There's nothing worse the people trying to see how you're feeling when you're feeling that low." Shotgun looked around the base, he wondered if anyone knew about the bombing and the execution. Or if Trent kept that all to himself. "Let's go find Trent," Shotgun said. "See what he's been up to since the bombing."

Aaly nodded at him before entering the base halls. She walked along Shotgun silently, not really in the mood to talk. When they finally reached Trent’s usual spot she was surprised when she saw Relena stomping out of it with small and clear tears streaming down her cheeks. She hesitated a little, between following her or staying there and talk with Trent. However, she realized it was much better for all of them to do the last thing and so she stepped inside the room ready to ask her questions.

“You should consider yourselves lucky” Trent lightly growled before any of the two could even say anything “If you were not as beaten up as you are I would have beat the crap out of both of you right here and right now blabbermouths”

Anger flashed in Aaly’s eyes

“You knew! You knew and yet you didn’t tell her” Even though she had avoided to do it herself as well, Trent was like an Uncle to Relena and for that he should’ve told her everything instead of keeping it from her “Who else haven’t you told? Everyone?”

“Shut up!” Trent’s fist fell loudly against the desk “This was a family matter and you did not have a place in it” He hissed furiously and Aaly took a step backwards, not because of his fury but because he reeked of alcohol “I haven’t keep it from anyone but Lena, just her wasn’t supposed to find out. How do you two idiots believe she feels right now that she know her father is still alive but she can’t save him from an imminent death? What you two have surely felt is nothing, nothing! Compared to how she’s feeling”

Aaly bit her lip softly. She understood that it was true, she knew that how she felt was very little compared to the way Relena was feeling right now, but Aaly was tired and injured, she was particularly angry with that joke of a prince and for that she was also particularly irritable. All of that made her yell back

“You’re not her real family! You had no right to decide either!”

Trent’s eyes widened as soon as she spoke those words and Aaly realized she had made a huge mistake. That was one of her biggest problems, she was usually pretty impulsive. He stood up and held her by the collar, lifting her up in the air

“Say that one more time” He mumbled coldly. His horrible breath made her feel like throwing up and she writhed on her place, he smelled like a drunkard.

“Let me go!” She yelled as she managed to land a kick he couldn’t block because of the dizziness the alcohol produced on him. He let go of her as he fell backwards, holding his side lightly.

“Get out Aaliya! Get out!” He yelled again, though it was pretty obvious he didn’t have the will to stand up again.

Aaly stood there for a moment, glancing at Shotgun unsure of what to do.

Shotgun was furious. "Who the hell do you think you are!?" he yelled at Trent stepping in between the two. "It wasn't your place to keep that type of stuff from your best friends daughter! The one you call your niece! She deserved to know the second you did! And what gives you the right to break like this? We all have to go through this, all of us not just you! This hit all of us and we're looking to you to keep us together and look at you, you cant even stand. You're so pathetic, Tydus would be sick to see you. What type of a leader are you that you fall so easily the second we're faced with hardship!"

Shotgun was shouting now. But he didn't care. He was hoping, prying, that Trent would know what to do in this type of situation. That he would step up and become the type of leader Tydus was. But now the he saw him like this, all Shotgun could think of was what would come of xiii without Tydus. Did District 1 take down xiii in just one day? With just one action? The though of it made his sick! Shotgun curled his hands into fist. "Get up," he hissed, then louder. "Get up! Become the leader we need!"

"What, is so important that it couldn't wait until morning?" Halo said when Crisis opened the door. She opened it wider and Halo walked in.

"I've been thinking about how we're going to get that microchip from the rebels," Crisis said sitting on the couch in her living room. Halo sat on the floor beside her stretching his hands over his head.

"How are you more excited about this then me?" Halo asked. "I thought you'd want nothing to do with xiii after all that happened."

"Yeah but think about it, what if this guy, this..."

"Alabaster," Halo yawned. Work had taken a lot out of him today, and all he wanted to do was go home and rest.

"Right, Alabaster. So what if he works for the government and he's going undercover to stop the rebels?" Crisis asked.

Halo raised his eyebrow. "You mean like a spy?"

"Yeah! And he needs your help on his mission, you could be like his spy sidekick."

Halo sighed. "I doubt that's what's happening. More like he found someone to do his dirty work who had a connections to a rebel and could easily fly under the radar."

"So you could help him with his spy work Halo," Crisis added in. "If you help with this mission and it leads to the downfall of xiii, you'll be in history forever. They'll right stories about you! They'll name cities after you! And if I help you, then they'll do the same for me!"

Halo sighed. He was to tired for Crisis's level of Crazy. "Crisis, none of that is going to happen. Honestly I'm sure you could of told me all of this over tomorrow."

"No, there's something else," Crisis said. "I think I thought up a way on how to get the microchip."

Trent couldn't cope with it anymore, he truly couldn't. He would lose his best friend and there was nothing he could do about it. He was ashamed to admit it, but that alone was enough to break him. He could only remember their old time promise. It would be the two of them against the world. Now who would be the other one of the two? He had dug into his mind to come up with something, with anything to save him and for him it had been impossible. He cursed the damned moment they had been separated during that bombing and cursed as well whoever had set it. He had been left alone and he was just a man, a simple man. He couldn't think of everyone setting their hopes in him, he couldn't bring himself to be the leader xiii needed.

So what have he done under that much sorrow and pressure? He had turned himself into alcohol. It was stupid, pathetic, yes. But it was his only relief. Back when he had lost his entire family to FlyBird, his sons, his wife, his parents, his brothers, everyone, the only one who had kept him from crumbling had been Tydus. But Tydus would not show up anymore. He stared at Shotgun blankly as he screamed and when he was done with it he stretched out his hand to his back, seemingly reaching for something. When he did he pulled out a gun and aimed at him

"Get out, kid" He repeated. There would be no more yelling, he had sincerely had enough.

Aaly looked at him in surprise and her eyes got full of disgust and loathe

"I'm just glad Tydus is soon to be executed. At least he would die a dreamer instead of watching his dream fall apart because of a coward like you who is too small to hold the weight Tydus carried all along" She spat with distaste. She too knew she was being low, but it frightened her that all that they had done until now would end like that. "He would have died in vain.."

"Leave him," Shotgun said turning. "He's not worth the breath."

Shotgun walked down the hallway in complete silence. He didn't know where to go, or what to do. He felt defeated. He felt like they had lost. What the hell was he suppose to do know?

"Dammit!" Shotgun yelled slamming his fist into the wall. "Damn all of it!" he slammed his fist into the wall two more times, this time leaving a mark. Shotgun put his forehead to the wall and just stood there. "What the hell are we going to do now?" he asked.

Aaly was honestly... speechless. Her five years dream would really come to an end like that? She leaned against the wall softly just by him. She tried to say anything but truly... How could she comfort him? Lately she had been feeling just powerless and that made her realize what of a fool she had been before for believing herself to be strong. She glanced at him and the only thing she could come up with was to brush his cheek with her fingers, just above one of the tons of bruises he had.

"We should get you treated" Was the only thing she could force out of her mouth as she used this time her whole hand to caress his cheek gently.

"What the hell are we gonna do man?" Trent mumbled under his breath as he tossed the gun to the side. With his free hand reaching for yet another bottle he hadn't finished. "What the f*** am I gonna do?" He whispered before taking the bottle to his lips.

Shotgun laughed softly. "Speak for yourself," he said. "Let's get ourselves to the infirmary." Shotgun pushed himself off of the wall. "Then we can get some well deserved rest. It's been a long day, and they're only gunna get longer."

"This is a dumb idea," Halo said resting his head oh his hand.

"Shhhh," Crisis said. "It's ringing." Her and Halo had spent the last ten minuets hacking into the cell server of District 1 to see if they could find a number of a rebel. Crisis was happy when she saw the name Aaliya Blythe Aashan was registered to a cell.

"She's never going to go for this," Halo said sleepily. How the heck did Crisis have all this energy?

"Hey we have less then three days to do this, I'm helping you out." Crisis said on the third ring.

"Hey you look worse than me" She joked with a grin before she felt a strange buzz on her pocket. She blinked and took it out, looking at the number that appeared on the screen "I don't recognize this number" She frowned and looked up at Shotgun "Do you recognize it?"

(Kk ^^)

Shotgun looked at the number and shook his head. "Who could have your number anyway?" he asked. "You just got that today."

Crisis rolled her eyes. Taking forever, she mouthed to Halo.

"Then just hang up," he said back.

Aaly frowned as she looked at it "I don't know. Do you think I should take it? Honestly, I don't like the idea of taking it inside the base. All this spy thing is just making me paranoid" She stared at the number as she tried to remember if she had ever seen it again, but nothing really came to mind.

The cell stopped buzzing. "Hmm, I guess whoever it was hung up. Let's go to the roof and call the number back. It should be safe to talk there." Shotgun wanted to know who was on the other line. "You think it was Relena calling? She would have your number since you called her to pick us up."

"No, it's not her, that's not her number" Aaly rubbed the back of her neck "I'm not comfortable with calling back" She yawned "At least not for today. Maybe tomorrow I'll go out and call" She winced a little when she stopped rubbing her neck "Besides I want these things to get treated already"

Shotgun laughed. "Then why are we still standing here? Lets get treated, then go to bed." Shotgun turned on his heels and started towards the infirmary. When he got there, he found Derrick treating a young female rebel who Shotgun knew as Lila.

Derrick looked up from his work as the two entered. "What the hell happened to you?" he muttered. Clearly he was upset about the events that had just unfolded.

"Long story," Shotgun sighed. He didn't want to get into it.

"So the young Mistress finally came back!"

Aaly stiffened as she heard that voice, making a face. Great! She sighed as she turned back, a guy around Shotgun's age leaning lazily against the infirmary's wall.

"Shut up, Nate" Aaly rolled her eyes

"Woah, what did you do to your face? It suits you. Though I still have to repay you the favor" He tapped his nose, which had clearly been fixed from Aaly's previous punch.

Aaly smirked

"Shame, I even was kind enough to fix it for you before" Aaly mocked

"Oh I'm just so happy you're finally back" Nate took a step towards her, clenching his fists softly "This is gonna be good"

Aaly raised her eyebrow but her smile didn't disappear

"Great, I needed something to relieve my stress"

"That's enough you two," Derrick said. "Nate you're done here so you can leave. The infirmary is for people who are hurt or ill, and you are neither." He then turned to Lila. "All done." He said finished tying the bandage on her arm.

"Thank you," Lila said quietly. She hopped off the bed which she sat and started making her way towards the door, but stopped when she reached Shotgun and Aaly. Lila was short for her age and looked like a child. She rarely spoke above a whisper and always had an expression on her face that was an mix of sadness and confusion. But letting her appearance fool you would be your first mistake, She was a killer when she had a gun in her hands. And could hold her own with the best of xiii."

"Are your injuries because of the bombing?" Lila asked quietly. "No, that was a week ago. What happened?"

"We had a run in with the prince," Shotgun admitted.

"Hmm. I'm sorry for your lost," Lila went on. "I know how close you were to Tydus. The both of you." With that, Lila was out the door.

"A run in with the prince huh?" Derrick asked waving the two over so he could get a good look at them. "Which one?"

"The young one, Jonathan." Shotgun said walking over.

"He did all this to you?" Derrick asked surprised.

"He had his lackeys do it for him," Shotgun said bitterly.

"God I just bet Aaliya was really glad to see him again" Nate was an arrogant guy and he had tacken a particular liking in bullying Aaly

"Didn't you hear Derrick, Nate? Get the heck out" Aaly exclaimed before approaching Derrick, not bothering to even turn back and look at him once. Nate got on her nerves easily and even though right now she just wanted to beat the crap out of him she was tired and injured.

"Aye, aye Young Mistress. We'll see each other soon" He smirked at her before leaving

"He's such an a**" Aaly stated with an annoyed tone of voice. Honestly, she couldn't understand why most of the rebel girls were so into him. He was just a pretty face.

(Hmm I may be thinking of making a profile of Nate if that's okay with you ><)

"Don't let him get to you," Derrick said as he got to work on Aaly. Shotgun lay on a nearby bed and closed his eyes. "How are you holding up? I know for a fact that Trent didn't take the news too well. And I haven't seen Relena in a while."

(Go for it ^-^)

"Better than Trent at least" She said simply, not really wanting to get on how she was feeling "I don't know about Relena.. But I don't think she's taking it too well either" She sighed softly "How is Wayne feeling? Has he found out that Kira is among the prisoners?"

(Yay ^^Thanks!)

Derrick sighed as he poured iodine onto a cotton ball and touched it to Aaly's forehead. "Not well. By well I'm sure that everyone has seen the feeds about the execution. Half of we want to run into District 1 head first. The other half are too brokered to even step out of bed. It's hard to say what our next move will be."

"What we should be doing is planning our next move," Shotgun said not opening his eyes. "They won a battle, we still have a war. And we still have those microchips that we went all the way to District one for. We shouldn't be wasting our time like this."

"Down boy," Derrick said. "That's easier said then done."

"Indeed.." A sigh escaped Aaly's lips "But someone should really go and snap Trent out of it"

"You should leave that to me" Aaly blinked at the voice and looked to the door, surprised to find Relena laying against it

"Relena! We were... I..." Aaly stumbled over her own words

"I know Aaly and I appreciate it" She smiled at her, a weak and small smile but a smile nonetheless "Now leave my Uncle to me. Both of you get some rest" And with that she stepped out of the room

This time Shotgun did open his eyes, pleased to see that Relena was back in action. Just like a true rebel. Shotgun closed his eyes and lay back down. Tomorrow was another day, and hopefully a better one.

"I have a feeling that thongs are going to be looking up," Derrick said once Relena left. "Now get some rest," he said to Aaly once he was through with her wounds."
The execution would be public, that was decided by King Julian. So that all could watch what happens when you challenge District 1 and its allies. Julian stepped out before the expecting crowd that had came out to watch and they cheered when they saw him. The four rebels were tied to chairs and displayed on a platform. The king raised his hand for silences. "I know that it has been a trying week for us all. Believe me when I say that I feel the pain of all of the districts. But now we can all rest a little easier. For our first retaliation against these terrorists has began!" The crowed cheered and clapped. After a moment Julian raised his hand again. Julian turned to a guard and nodded, and that's when four doctors came out and stood behind each rebel. There was dead silences.

"Murderer!" A woman shouted and the crowd erupted.

Julian allowed this for some time before raising a hand. "Usually, there would be a last word. But I don't think filth like this deserves to speak." The crowd agreed. Just in case any of the rebels did want to say something, Julian had had their tongues cut out.

A priest walked up and stood in front of the four. He started to recite a prayer. No one spoke during this. "And may the lord have mercy on your soul."

And with those last words, a shot was entered into each of the rebel's necks. The crowed cheered.

Jonathan watched everything that had happened. He sat with is mother and brother to the left of his father. To the right stood Noelle and the Rennels. They sure seemed to be hanging around here more and more lately considering that all three of them lived in District 5. But he guessed that with everything that happened, they would want to be closer to work.

"That went off wonderfully," Lucinda said to her children as she clapped.

Jonathan allowed a smile. His father would surly be respected by all after this.

"Not how I would do it," Lux said. "But still got the message across."

"Hush," Lucinda said giving her older child a look. "When you're king you can do whatever you want however you want. But for now you watch and admire."

"Of course mother," was all Lux said, a friendly smile on his face.

Jonathan had always wondered how he did it. Made a smile that looked that real, it even touched his eyes. If Jonathan didn't know better he would have said that his brother was happy. But he knew Lux hadn't been happy for years. Jonathan just wondered why.Jonathan turned his attention to the crowd. He was pleased to see his people this happy, this fully committed to his father.

Crisis watched the feeds as she got ready for school. Her parents had never came home last night, telling her not to wait up. And now Crisis could see why, they wanted to be there when the rebels were executed. Crisis tied her hair into a ponytail as the rebels were ejected with the poising. Four down, a whole district to go, she thought to herself. She wondered if she should tell her parents about the microchip and what Alabaster was having Halo do, but then thought better of it. She couldn't risk getting Halo in trouble. Crisis checked the time, she would need to hurry if she was going to make the train.
