Of Brick and Stone (open)

"No, It hasn't." Jonathan said looking around the room. "My mother likes... predictability." Queen Lucinda had personalty done all the decorating of their four houses. She had hand picked every piece in every room and rarely ever changed anything. It only one thing was slightly out of place, she would know in an instant.

"Get us some drinks," Jonathan said waving his hand at the servant who had brought the guest in. Jonathan didn't know his name. In fact, Jonathan knew next to none of the names of his servants, he didn't see the point in learning them. The servant took a quick bow before leaving for the kitchen. "I heard that your godfather was one of the 27 dead," Jonathan said turning his attention back yo Aaly. "I'm sorry about that. But justice will soon come with the execution of those rebels."

When the prince mentioned the rebels it took every once of restraint in Shotgun not to show any emotion. That prince was quick to speak when he knew little about xiii. Did he even care that they had nothing to do with the bombing? No. What a little brat.

(Lolz I've never considered it a color but hey to each their own ^-^)

Aaly clenched her hands together as she intertwined her fingers. At first she had done so because she had remembered Thanos dull look when she had found that big piece of ceiling thrusted on the middle of his chest, then she had practically turned her knuckles white because of the strength she was using at that moment. There was her chance! Her golden chance!

She nodded her head a little, looking up at him. An underlining sadness flashed on her eyes.

"He did. I just want justice" She softly loosened the grip down on her hands "Have they really got those Rebels, Pri.." She shook her head "Jonathan? Have they really? How much of them are they? Where are they?" Anyone would think it was just her desperation to know who had been those 'villains' that had killed her dear godfather.

"All I know is that there are four of them," Jonathan said. "I'm pretty much as in the dark as everyone else."

The servant came back and placed a tray of three drinks in the center of the table. Jonathan took his drink but did not sip from it. Sebastian made no attempt to reach for his.

"I wish I knew who, or where they were, but Lux and my parents are keeping that information to themselves. I do know that my father is suppose to make an announcement about the execution later today."

Aaly did her best to not shift uncomfortably. She knew it... execution... She reached out for the drink, taking a light and quick sip of it. The Prince was useless at this point. He could only tell her there were four of them. That didn't help her? Who were they? Where were they staying at least? She lowered the drink to her lap, bitting her lower lip softly before asking

"Will they be executed today?" She asked softly as she raised her eyebrow.

Jonathan's cell buzzed and he reached into his pocket and pulled it out. There was a message from Obsidian that read:

I am about to call you. Make sure you are alone!

Jonathan raised his eyebrow and showed the message to Sebastien. He gave a confused look and motioned for them to leave the room.

"Excuse me," Jonathan said standing. "I have to take this," he said just as the cell started to buzz.

Jonathan and Sebastian walked out of the room. Far enough for then to not be heard, but not too far for them to not see the others.

"What's wrong?" Jonathan asked when answered the cell which was placed between both Jonathan and Sebastian's ear.

"Are you alone?" Obsidian's voice asked through the cell.

"I'm with Sebastian. What's wrong?" Jonathan asked again.

"Okay, I told you that I would look into the rebels who were in your father's prison. I've been begging my mother to tell me more about them all day. I told her that it would help me cope with what happened, if I could see their faces and know who the people was who did this before they were executed."

Jonathan was getting worried. Obsidian was rambling and she only did that when she was upset.

"Jonathan," Obsidian continued. "She showed me their faces."

"Okay..." Sebastian said exchanging a look with Jonathan. They didn't understand the significances "What's so bad about that?"

Obsidian sighed. "I have seen their faces before. No, One of their faces. A man."

Both boy's straightened at that.

"What?" Jonathan asked lowering his voice to a whisper. "Where? Who?"

"I don't know his name. But I saw him..." Obsidian trailed off.

"Sid," Jonathan said. "Who is it?"

Obsidian took in a deep breath. "Maybe I am just confused so do not take my word for it. I saw him with Aaliya. The day she first came to District 1 for the ball. He was one of her personal servants.

Jonathan and Sebastian froze. At the same time they both turned and looked over to where Aaliya and her servant sat. Then they turned their backs to them.

"Obsidian," Jonathan said slowly. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, I mean. I remember the face. But it might not be what it seems. She saved my life. Why would she do that if she was a rebel? Besides, she looked just as shocked as everybody else when the bombs went off."

"She's here with us now," Sebastian said. "She came in not long ago with another servant to visit Jonathan."

"What!? Guys, do not do anything stupid." Obsidian begged.

"I have to call you back Sid," Jonathan said.

"John--"

Obsidian didn't have time to finish her sentence before Jonathan hung up.

"So, what are you going to do?" Sebastian asked Jonathan.

Jonathan paused to think. "Why would she come her if she is apart of xiii?"

"It is bold, maybe she wanted to see what you knew about the bombing," Sebastian's face changed as he realized another possibility. "Or maybe she doesn't know where her comrades are. That's why she's here asking you."

"We could use that to our advantage," Jonathan said. "you know, that servant she is with. I caught him sneaking around my father's study the day of the ball."

"The study?" Sebastian asked. "isn't that where one of the bombs went off?"

This was all too much Jonathan didn't know what to make of it. Could Aaly really be apart of xiii? How could that be? Why would she join the rebels? Why would she hurt him and his family?

"Should I alert the Court Guards and your parents?" Sebastian asked.

"We need to know for certain. She saved Obsidian's life, I use to know her. I have to give her the benefit of the doubt."

Sebastian nodded. "Then I'll tell some close friends to surround the room. If this turns bad, we'll have back up.

Jonathan nodded. "We should get back to our guest," he said.

The two boys re-entered the parlor and sat.

"So, Jonathan asked, "where were we? As yes, I remember. You wanted to know about the rebels. And their execution"

Aaly had frowned when they had left the room. Even more she had felt a cold shiver run down her spine when they looked at her and Shotgun but avoided anything that would give them in show on her face. When they came back she nodded at Jonathan's question. Would he tell her? Had that person who had called him tell him anything? It never crossed her mind one of those four people were Tydus. She was yet to find out she had already been discovered.

"I would like to know about the people who killed my only remaining relative" She nodded as she frowned with worry on her eyes.

Jonathan nodded slowly. "Yes, wouldn't we all. But you know what really gets to me? The fact that more rebels could be running around my district and I don't even know who they are. They could be anyone. You just don't know who to trust now-a-days. Isn't that right, Aaliya?"

Shotgun studied Jonathan's face. Something had changed, it was colder. Shotgun discreetly gazed around the room. Everything looked to be in order, so he shook the feeling. It was probably just nerves.

Aaly felt and saw the change too and it gave her goosebumps. It may be her paranoia but she felt how it suddenly hit her. Somehow she had been discovered, was the only thing she could think of. 'Run, Shotgun! Run!' She thought to herself as she nodded in agreement with the Prince.

"You're right, Jonathan and it frightens me a lot. It pains me too to see my home District being threatened like that, after all my father did everything he could to protect this District when he was alive" Her face turned into a sad one. This one was real because she knew the pain it would cause her father to see her like that, turned into a rebel that wanted to see the city in the sky fall. However, it would pain her a lot more go against what she now believed to be the only way and truth.

Jonathan narrowed his eyes. The only thing hated more then being lied to, was being played as a fool. Jonathan glanced at Sebastian, he was rubbing his chin with this thumb, something he did when he was trying to get a feel for a person.

"You know, I don't think you ever told me where you were staying all those years you were gone," Jonathan said as his cell buzzed. He had asked Obsidian to send him the pictures of the rebels. "No, you don't have to tell be. I believe I already know. I also know the faces of the rebels in my father's prison." Jonathan opened the message and up popped a hologram of the four rebel faces. "Do any of them look familiar to you?"

Aaly had to do her best not to reveal what she was feeling right now. Tydus! Tydus was gonna be executed! Her eyes fell on Jonathan and she did find out how cruel could he be. How of a brat and ignorant petty Prince of this damned District he was and her hatred could not do anything more but grow. He knew who she was, he just wanted to confirm it. Well she would not give him that pleasure. She scanned the faces briefly, taking the same time at each one of them. She then looked up at him, seemingly clueless.

"Are those the Rebels? They are quite... Young" She said with a puzzled look on her face. And it was true... The only 'older' one was Tydus.

"I see younger," Jonathan said. She closed the message and sat back in his chair. "Aaliya, you are too smart to be playing this dumb. Did you not think I would find out who you were?"

In that instant several things happened at once. Shotgun grabbed the glass from Aaly's hand and slammed it against the table, spilling the drink all over the floor. He stood in front of Aaly and held out the cut glass to use as a weapon. Jonathan and Sebastian stood, their faces revealing no fear. And a small group of the Royal Court Guards busted through through the door surrounding the two rebels. They were all lower ranked officers, all around Sebastian' s age. And they were very loyal to him. Their guns were ready and aimed.

"Sit down," Jonathan hissed.

Shotgun still stood, his 'weapon' still outstretched. He glanced around the room at the soldiers, but his eyes never left Jonathan's for more then a few seconds. Jonathan had them right where he wanted, and he knew that. The thought of being outsmarted by a child made Shotgun's blood boil.

"I said sit!" Jonathan ordered in the type of voice his father would use to command someone.

Shotgun had no choice. He sat beside Aaly.

"What do you think you were going to do with that?" Sebastian asked taking the glass from Shotgun's hands.

"Kill the prince no less," Shotgun spat.

"You keep talking like that and you wont have your tongue for much longer," Sebastian said.

"So you two thought that you could just come into my home and what? Jonathan asked. "You should be lucky that I haven't taken your lives yet for what you have done."

Aaly could just grin, what was for her to do other than that? She wouldn't have to pretend at least. She crossed her leg on top of her other one as she crossed her arms above her chest.

"Try it, a**hole. It's not like we are afraid of you" She did fear.. But she feared for her comrade's death not for hers. She had forced him to come with her! "I would not expect less from you. You're the same puppy as ever" Her eyes flashed with anger as she talked.

She glanced at Shotgun from the corner of her eye and with just that she told him how sorry she was and how stupid he had been for doing that instead of taking the chance to escape.

"Puppy?" Jonathan scoffed. "That's funny, coming from you. Seeing as I am in this position," Jonathan waved a hand to his surrounding small army. "You are sitting there under my mercy. I never thought you of all people would betray your home, become a rebel. And not even a good one. You had the upper hand, an advantage and look how you wasted it. Pathetic. Your parents would be disappointed." Jonathan knew what he said was a pretty low blow, but he didn't care. He had trusted Aaliya and she had betrayed him without even batting an eye. Did she only save Obsidian to get closer to him? Gain his trust so she could come into his home and finish what she started? Kill the royal Family? Jonathan felt stupid for not seeing it, and he was hurt. And when Jonathan got hurt, he liked to hurt the person just as much, even more if he could. "It's good they can't see you now."

"And your parents would be proud," Shotgun snarled. "To see how corrupt and demotic their son turned out, just like them. But I guess the saying in true. Like father like son."

Smack!

Jonathan had went over and back-handed Shotgun across the face. Shotgun stood to retaliate but was quickly pushed back to a sitting position by three soldiers.

"I'd like to see how big you are with out your army!" Shotgun spat.

Jonathan turned his back to Shotgun to speak with Sebastien. "I don't want my father to know that they were here."

"What do you want to do with them?" Sebastian asked.

Jonathan took in a deep breath to clear his head and think. "Take them to the cellar. Torture them."

Sebastian glanced over at the two rebels. "I doubt they will give us any information."

"I didn't say I wanted information."

Sebastian nodded. He gave a signal to the other soldiers and then cuffed Aaly and Shotgun's hands behind their backs.

"Move it," one solider gritted. Pushing them into a walking start.

"Poor Prince Jonathan he really does believe he has all the power on his little hands. You think you knew my parents enough to say that, don't make me laugh. You're still the same shallow person you've always been and you know what? I'm glad, because when you face reality you're just gonna take such a big blow" She didn't even make an effort to free herself from the soldiers, she knew it would be useless. He wanted to hurt her? Fine. They were just empty words for her from a puppy that believed himself to be betrayed.

She straightened, her eyes flashing with just pride and arrogance.

"And you believe me to be pathetic. At least as a Rebel I know what is going on in my own District and on others, what do you even now if it is not your girlfriend that tells you? Little Prince never knows what's going on even if it's happening right in front of him. How does it feel Jonathan? How does it feel to be excluded from all important things that are going on by your own family" She spat. She had kept to herself all that, might as well say them all right now "I just pity you. Such a sad and clueless life you lead"

Jonathan said nothing in response to Aaly as the soldiers took the two rebels away. What she said was true. He knew next to nothing that went on in his district. It was as if his parents still saw his as a child. Not old enough to comprehend what went on around him. But at least know he knew something neither his father or his mother knew, nor Lux. He would get rid of these rebels his own way, and never tell his parents of it.

"Will they be apart of the execution?" Sebastian asked.

Jonathan shook his head. "No, I have my own plan."
How much time had passed? Fifteen minuets? Thirty? Shotgun had lost track. He and Aaly had been stuck down in the cellar for a while while the lower ranked soldiers took turns beating the crap out of them. Shotgun looked up at Aaly, his vision was blurry so it took him a moment to focus on her face. Her face, Shotgun was filled with sadness. If he ever got his hands on the prince, he couldn't even think of what he would do. Aaly was tied to a chair, same as him, that was facing him. Shotgun guessed it was so they could see each other get their a**es kicked. What a heartless bastard Jonathan was. But right now the soldiers had left them alone in the cellar so Shotgun took this time to speak.

"I'm sorry," he said, though his words were hard to make out. "I should have never suggested we come here."

Aaly had taken the blows without even letting a small whimper out of her mouth. It had hurt as hell, she had to admit it, but she wouldn't allow herself to whine in front of those people. When they were left alone she finally spat the blood she had been holding in to the ground. Each side of her body hurt, but she would find a way to cope with it. When Shotgun spoke she forced herself to raise her head to look at him, taking her a time to actually see him.

Then her eyes suddenly lighted up with fury and fierceness as she looked up at him. She took a deep breath that gave her a horrid twinging feeling all over her chest before opening her mouth.

"You... idiot! If you had noticed I've been discovered you could have run or done something apart from that! You could've looked for way to escape! I told you goddammit! Instead you go and pull that kind of crap, you brute! Imbecile!" The words came out of her mouth as loud and livid yells as tears of frustration and concern soon bloomed on her eyes before streaming down her cheeks, though she hadn't notice them as she still wanted to scream at him a little bit more even if as every word she managed to get out she felt horrible spasms go through her body. He could have escaped! She didn't want him to die with her! She didn't wanted him to be beaten like that in front of her! "Don't you ever know how to follow a simple thing that you're said!?"

Shotgun listened to everything Aaly spat at him, and when she was finished he grinned. "I guess I don't. But I told you, I wasn't going to leave you. So if they kill us, we can die together. True rebels, and with no regrets." This was it. If he was going to tell her this was it. He wasn't going to get another chance. Shotgun summoned up all the courage he had and focused all his attention on Aaly's face. Tried to look past all the blood and bruises to her beautiful face. "Aaly," he said. "I love you. I always have, ever since you came to District 2 and joined our cause. And if this is it, if this is the end. I want you to know that I love, every. Thing. About you."

"How are they?" Jonathan asked as one of the soldiers came into the kitchen to wash the blood from her hands.

"Barely breathing," she said. "When do you want us to kill them?"

"I don't," Jonathan said. "I'm just buying my time."

"For what?" Sebastian asked.

"This," Jonathan held up his cell, King Julian would be speaking about the rebels shortly. "Go get them. We're moving out." Both Jonathan's parents were gone for the day, and so was Lux. So if he wanted to leave, this was the time to go.

Aaly looked at him, a puzzled look on her face. She had most certainly hadn't expect anything like that. She theorized to herself she had heard him wrong, then that she shouldn't misunderstood his words but she was not stupid. Because even if she knew little about love, she knew what exactly he meant by those words. She fighted her tears again, she didn't want to cry again. Her vision got blurry once again.. She didn't knew how she felt but the truth was she didn't want him to die, she really didn't want to see him die.

"You..Shotgun I..." But she didn't get to finish whatever she had meant to say because before she could go any further, the soldiers entered the cellar, seemingly taking them somewhere else.

Hoods were placed over the rebel's heads and they were lifted out of their chairs. A walk, that seemed too forever, lead them outside. Shotgun could feel the warm breeze pass him and the present smell of flowers filled the air. Shotgun could hardly walk. He was limping on his left leg and he could feel whoever was holding him struggle to keep him up. Shotgun would have fought if he had the strength.

The warm breeze was replaced by cool air as he was pushed into something and shoved into a chair where he was cuffed once again. Shotgun moved his head around but all he could see was the darkness of the hood. There was a low humming sound and he could feel himself being lifted. Shotgun realized that he was in a hovercar. So the prince was taking them away from his home to have them killed? Or maybe he was taking them to the king's jail.

"Shouldn't we be taking something more subtle?"

Shotgun recognized the voice as Sebastian.

"It's going to be a long trip and I don't want to be cramped. Besides this is my mother's personal craft. It's unmarked so if we stick to the back roads no one will notice it belongs to us."

That one was Jonathan. So they weren't in a hovercar but a hovercraft.

There was a pause and a moment later Shotgun's hood was lifted. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the change in light. When they did he found himself looking at Sebastian and Jonathan's emotionless faces. All around them were soldiers.

"Nice face," Sebastian said.

Shotgun said nothing, only spat blood at their feet. Both boys looked down at the spot of red and then back at Shotgun. Their faces never changed so it was hard for Shotgun to know what they were planning. Shotgun looked at Aaly and then away, still slightly embarrassed by his confession.

Aaly was strangely grateful for the warm breeze and the cool one that soon followed. She felt an underlining resignation to all that was happening though she tried to push it off her mind. When the hood had been taken off she opened her eyes slowly, blinking a couple of times before getting used to the sudden ray of light. She looked at both of the guys.

"How original of you" She told Sebastian sarcastically as she leaned back on her chair and rolled her eyes. She had not forgotten Shotgun's confession but was not willing to continue it in front of others. Instead, she pushed it to a corner of her mind, forgetting it for the time being and acting as it had never happened.

"I've been thinking," Jonathan said ignoring Aaly's comment. "And I decided that I wont be killing you. Consider this a gift for what you did for Sid. Now I can drop you two in the Western Badlands with a clear consciences." The Western Badlands was a large patch of land just before District 2. It was an toxic environment and completely inhabitable by humans. That made it the perfect breeding ground for hyper hounds. "I also have another gift for you," Jonathan continued. He taped the air in front of him and out popped a large screen. There was a reporter speaking and on the bottom of the screen it read, 'special report'.

"... We are now joined live by King Julian."

Jonathan's father appeared on the screen and smiled. "It was been a tough week for all of us, I am sure. And my heart goes out to everyone who has lost their lives in the bombing. But I made a promise to you all that I would find whoever did this and bring then to justice. And I have done just that."

Julian's face was replaced by the faces of the four rebels. It stayed that way for a moment until the screen split to show both the rebel faces as well as Julian.

"We have caught four of the members of xiii responsible for last week's bombing on my home. They have confessed a great deal to us about their plan and what they planned to do next." Of course that was a lie but no one had to know that. "although their last words useful, it will not save them from their fate. Tomorrow at noon each of them will be excited and let this be a lesson to all who try to bring destruction to our districts. You are not above the law and no one can save you."

There were cheers from the people watching Julian speak.

Jonathan closed the screen. That was enough, he had made his point.

"You wanted to know so badly what would become of your friends?" he asked. "Well now you know."

Aaly just laughed, both for his decision on for what she had heard.

"Can you believe it, Shotgun?" At this point, even if she knew they were not going to die, she just found what had been said hilarious. She knew they would be executed, she knew it since the beginning. It pained her greatly not being able to save Tydus but what pained her the most was what could have Relena been feeling right now because of those dreadful news. However, she, and everyone knew, that Tydus as well as everyone that joined their cause had to be willing to give up their lives to it.

What had made her laugh was one simple thing

"People actually do believe they have really told everything to that joke of a King, how naive. Royalty gives people false hope and security, wonder how will they look like when the next blow arrives and they cannot explain how that passed by them when they had been previously 'told' about it. Surely their loyal lambs will turn against them" She threw a smirk at Jonathan as she spoke the last sentence.

Shotgun let out a short laugh. "Those people are to brainwashed to know left from right without someone telling them first. And that king of theirs empty promises wont protect them for long."

Jonathan just looked at the girl. She was most likely right about the information that was given. He knew his father to stretch the truth when needed. Tell the people what they want to hear and they will fall to your knees, Jonathan had grown up on his father's words. Still, Jonathan didn't like to hear the man he looked up to being put down. "What your naive little mind fails to understand is that that first attack will be your last. My father said he'd protect his people and that's what he shall do. His promises are not empty," Jonathan's eyes flicked to Shotgun before returning to Aaly. "And his people will not turn against him. xiii has just placed a bullseye on it's back and the whole world is aimed. It wont surprise me if your pathetic district is bombed by nightfall. I'd keep watch over my shoulder if I were you."

"Oh wouldn't you dream of it? I wish to see how you dear father manages to stop all of this. Do you believe we're the only ones against District 1? You should go out a bit more, Jonathan, or well perhaps you're just as brainwashed as them" She shrugged. There was still a hint of amusement on her eyes, the whole situation... She was having a pretty good time with it.

She straightened on her chair while letting out a confident smile

"Xiii has demonstrated a much more important thing to the whole world and I guess we should be thankful to all the feeds going on about the bombing as well" Though unknowingly she thought the same thing Tydus did, they had showed to the world that District 1 could be defied even if they were to take the blame because of it "You'd better be the one to not lower the guard Prince. Maybe the next bomb would be at... District 5 perhaps?" Those last words were obviously a lie a thing that she'd made up to get on his nerves. Though she would never admit it she had taken a like to that innocent looking Princess of his, she seemed nice, that itself had drove her to try to safe her instead of leaving her alone.

Hate flicked on Jonathan's face. How dare she say that to him? "If you even think about hurting--"

Jonathan was quickly cut off by Sebastian. They had agreed no to show any emotions to the rebels and that last remark made by Aaly had definitely gotten to him. "Your little threats don't scare us little girl. You have lost this round and any other that are yet to come. So save you're breath, you're going to need it where you're going."
