Of Brick and Stone (open)

"Yeah, right. Come on, my fearless servant" She joked with a smile as she walked out of the study not without glancing back for a moment before the doors closed behind them. "Ah, right. I cannot go like that" She muttered as she looked down at herself. She had her hair short once again and her clothes had been the same they had wore the day she had arrived to District 1. "Wait for me downstairs, Shotgun. Will be there in a while" She exclaimed before rushing to the other side of the hall and turning to the right as she reached its end.

As she kept on walking she reached a spiral staircase and went up through it. She then arrived to the place where she had left her hair extensions and where she would surely find what to wear. It was a huge wardrobe, something her mother had come up with when she was just a kid. There she had bought and confectioned clothes for Aaly and Aaly alone. She had even confectioned some for her when she would grow up. Who would have said they would come in handy on that kind of situation?

It took her a while to decide what to wear. Not because of vanity but because she didn't really know what to wear so that she wouldn't stand out but that it wouldn't be uncomfortable to for example run if needed to. She finally went down the spiral staircase after several minutes. She had decided on a simple white and black loose shirt, dark blue bloomer shorts and a pair of long black boots. The only thing she could attribute to her vanity was the white ribbon she had tied to her now long wavy hair. She had not forgotten her green pill though, which was safely placed on a place where no one would be able to find it if she was to be checked on by anyone.

"Shotgun! Let's go" She yelled as she ran down the marble stairs. Her hair dangling against her back.

"You know I think you're liking this whole dress-up gig more and more," Shotgun called up to Aaly as she ran to change. While she was gone he looked over where he stood. Everything looked perfectly placed and like some one took a great deal of time trying to pick out what went with what and where. This was nothing like the place he had grown up. Shotgun's eyes stopped on the portrait of Aaly and who Shotgun assumed were her parents. Shotgun tilted his head slightly and looked them over, they looked happy. Aaly definitely looked more like her father then her mother. Suddenly, Shotgun started to miss his own parents. He hadn't thought about them in a long time. He'd been to busy with xiii to think of anything but. Just like his parents, their whole lives revolved around the revolution. Shotgun smiled, guess he was like them after all. He should pay a visit to their grave.

Aaly's voice broke Shotgun away from his thoughts. He went over to the staircase as Aaly came down. "Took you long enough," he teased. "What, could you not bring yourself to pull away from the mirror?"

Aaly smiled as she shrugged.

"Is it that the way you should be taking to your Mistress? Hmm?" She joked as she leaned forward towards him. As she was still stepping on the stairs she could pretty much match his own height and so she could easily place her eyes at the same height as his.

Funny thing was that living there was actually getting to her. No.. Not living... But being at her old house made her a bit more... Cheerful. She was obviously not the shallow girl she used to be before but she was not the sometimes sarcastic and a bit gloomy girl she was usually there a District 2. Well.. Being with her best friend also helped a bit too. It was not like she would not be like that never, but she was only so smiley when she was in a particularly good mood. God! She was not even meant to be like that at the moment. Her smile faltered a bit when she thought of that.

"Oh forgive me Young Mistress," Shotgun said bowing slightly. He chuckled as he made his way to the front door. He opened it and waved his hand in front of it. "After you."

"Thank you" She said with a smile as she stepped out of the house.

"What do you think of these?" Aaly turned to Shotgun as she pointed a pair of simple cellphones on the shop "I don't think we need something so.. flashy" She exclaimed as she crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow, waiting for his answer.

"They're nice," Shot gun said not looking at the cells at all. He was facing the other way looking out the window onto the street. habit had taught him to always be aware of his surroundings. "As long as they work I'm okay with it." District 1 was nothing like he had ever seen. Everyone was so dressed up like they were going to a special event or important meeting, maybe because they were. But it wasn't even noon yet, where did they have to be looking like that? Even the shop worker was dressed up. She was selling phones for Pete's sake. Everyone here looked too happy, and too pretty, and too... perfect. Shotgun looked at the cell shop worker. He wondered how much work she had done. The bandage around her nose suggested a nose job at the least. The shopkeeper caught him staring and smiled, Shotgun smiled back before turning away. This place was wired.

Aaly glanced at Shotgun before sighing. Yeah... It was normal to be like that, maybe she should be like that as well. However, without all those hating looks being thrown at her she didn't feel the need to and that troubled her. She had always learnt to keep her guard up because she had lots of enemies at District 2. She shook her head, she also had enemies at District 1. In fact all the District was her enemy.

"Excuse me? I would like to take these cellphones with me" Aaly said with a smile as she turned to the shop worker "I'll pay with dot codes" She said simply as she intertwined her fingers in front of her, another habit of hers.

The shopkeeper smiled and pulled out her scanner. She scanned Aaly's right eye and then checked it. "Okay all set," she said putting the cells in a big. "Your receipt will be sent to you shortly. Have a wonderful day."

Once outside Shotgun started playing around with his cell. He had used one before, but that was a while ago and he wanted to get use to this one as soon as possible. "Okay," Shotgun said. "So how do we get to the royal summer house from here?"

Aaly stopped and frowned

"That's a pretty good question" She granted. In her childhood she would usually go by her parent's hover car. Dis she even remember where was it located? She scratched the back of her head as she looked around "Would you think there would be some kind of public transport that would take us there?"

"To a royal's home? I doubt it." Shotgun looked around. "If we could get some hoverbords, I'm sure we can fly there. We just need to know where we're going." Shotgun smiled when he saw what he was looking for, an internet cafe. "Come on," Shotgun said walking into it. He scanned his right eye to log into a computer and then started tapping the screen looking through the feeds. He confirmed they the summer house was on the east side of the district and with a little more digging a hologram popped up with a geographic location of the place. Shotgun smiled. "You gotta love the internet. No one's safe from being sought out."

Aaly chuckled as she stepped behind him, crossing her eyes with a brow raised

"Finally your stalker skills come in handy" She joked as she placed her hands on her hips "I don't think we will be able to use my old hoverboard anymore. Should we also go and buy new ones?" She tilted her head to the side lightly.

She then frowned a little, it would take more of their time to go and look for them at yet another store and time was the thing they were lacking off.

"Let's buy them now" She suggested as she placed her hand on top of his shoulder and leaned a bit to the screen. She opened a new window and tapped some things on it.

Soon a hoverboards' catalog hologram popped up, presenting the different styles and shapes. Even going as far as suggesting to carve the name of the owner on them as an special offer along with other customized options if they were to be bought via internet. She passed through them and tapped on the first two hoverboards she thought would fit their sizes. She tapped a password as the hologram seemed to return to the screen and their transaction was done.

"Done. They should arrive here in a matter of minutes. 'You gotta love the internet' " She agreed to his previous statement as she turned her head to him

Shotgun laughed. "Right."

Ten minuets passed and a delivery man carrying two boards walked into the cafe. Shotgun was busy surfing around the feeds trying to gather information on the bombing and the events that led after when the man called out.

"Aaliya Aashan?"

Shotgun looked up from his screen to the man. "Yes," he said raising his hand.

The delivery man nodded and walked over to the two. "Just need a signature," he said holding out a scanner. The man leaned in and scanned Aaly's right eye. He checked the scanned and waited for confirmation. "Okay, you're all set," he said handing over the hoverboards. "You're receipt will be sent to you shortly. Enjoy those, they're top of the line."

"Thank you," Shotgun said.

The man nodded and left.

"Thanks" Aaly said with a smile to the man before he left.

She sighed with a frown afterwards, those feeds leaving her even more worried than before. She was really dying to know... Who had they captured? How could Shotgun and her free them? They had not bring even a single weapon, well not her either way...They wouldn't be able to get past the door if they were found with any gun or something like that.

Once they were out on the streets, Aaly pushed something on her hoverboard as it gave out a low and dim noise before a blue like color turned on. She dropped it to the floor where it remained suspended just a few cm above ground as it floated.

"After you" She said with a grin as she hopped on her hoverboard. She just hoped it would be just like what people used to say with bikes... Once you learn to ride them, you never forget it.

Shotgun turned on his board and tossed it to the ground. But it didn't hit, just hovered there waiting for him to step on. He stepped on and leaned back, then forward, adjusting his weight and trying to get a good feel for the board. This wasn't the first time he'd ever been on a hoverboard. On several missions he had used one and had to learn how to ride it fast. They just weren't as new as this one. Shotgun wondered how fast it could go.

"I downloaded the location onto my cell." Shotgun said holding up his cell, the image of the royal summer home popped up from the screen. "Let's just hope everything keeps going this smoothly."

"It will" She said more to herself than to him. What was there for them to lean on apart from hope? It was better just to be optimistic "Okay. So you lead the way" She added as she leaned back a little and the board rose up a little.

Aaly couldn't help it but smile excitedly. How fun it would be to go fast? She turned her head to Shotgun before signaling him with her head to go on the front and taking off. Thanks God she had chose those bloomer shorts instead of a dress or something like that.

Shotgun lead the way through the skies of District 1. He had forgotten how much he loved to fly, every one on the ground looked so small, so unimportant, like them and this whole entire district couldn't touch him. He made a mental note to bring the board back with him to District two.

"Pick up the speed," he called over his shoulder and leaned forward on his board to go faster. Shotgun shot through the air and dodged other hoverboards, bikes, and cars as he went. He even managed to almost run into another boarder who yelled a 'watch where you're going!' when shotgun barely dodged her.

"Sorry," Shotgun called over his shoulder.

They had been flying for about twenty minuets and shotgun payed closed attention to his map so as to not get lost, although he wondered if he had managed to do that anyway. Shotgun slowed his pace and looked around. This part of the district was forest. How they managed to do that on a hoverplate, Shotgun had no idea, but the sight did leave him in awe. He had to admit, it was quite beautiful, and clever too. How'd they even manage to get this thing in the sky in the first place? And who was the person who came up with the idea? Well it had to be like how the hoverboards worked, right? Shotgun realized that he really knew very little about District 1.

"There," Shotgun pointed. From where the forest elevated sat the peek of the summer home. It was surrounded by thick lush forest and was the only house in site. Shotgun guessed that the royals must own the land.

"Let's land and walk the rest of the way," Shotgun told Aaly.

Aaly nodded at him and kicked her board softly it seemingly turning off and falling down to the forest's ground. She then kicked it again right before it hit the ground, hopping off as it hovered above her shoulder, it was faster that way. She ran her fingers through her hair lightly as with her other hands she tapped a spot on the board, the blue light disappearing before she took it below her armpit.

She then looked at where Shotgun was, stuffing the hand she had used to untangle some curls on her hair before on her pocket.

Shotgun led Aaly through the woods and up the path that led to the gate of the mansion. He could see two guards standing watch in front of the gate and turned to Aaly.

"You should take lead now. It would be strange to have a mistress following a servant."

Aaly glanced at the guards before glancing back at Shotgun. She then pulled him lightly by the sleeve to her so that she could whisper something only her and him would be able to hear.

"If anything goes wrong, Shotgun. I want you to get the hell out of there if you got the chance. You will not try to take me out of there or anything like that, ok? Once inside, there's only you the one you should care about" She exclaimed and she meant it.If there was a chance they were discovered and she was caught first she wanted him to escape if he could. She still got her green pill with her.

She let go of him and passed by him, standing straight and walking calmly but with the same gracefulness she did back then at the ball. She was no longer Aaly, since that point on she had to act completely as Aaliya Blythe Aashan.

She stood in front of the guards, looking at them with a collected and composed smile.

"Good afternoon, Misters. My name is Aaliya Blythe Aashan and I would like to meet Prince Jonathan if there's a chance I'm allowed to" She said with a simple yet firm tone of voice.

When Aaly whispered her whole get out alone speech to him, Shotgun laughed slightly. Before she left he took Aaly by the chin and lifted her head till their eyes met.

"I thought you knew me better than that Aaly," he said. "I'm not leaving you. Not now, not ever."

When Aaly started talking with the guards Shotgun took on his character. He stayed behind Aaly and didn't say a word.

"How's the arm?" Jonathan asked Sebastian. The two friends were hanging out in the courtyard of Jonathan's summer home. Sebastian had come back from the hospital the day after the bombing, he wanted to be at the funeral for his fallen comrades, but this was his first official day back on the job.

"Good as new," the young solider said flexing his arm. "Healed up nicely. Did you find out any information on the rebels?"

Jonathan shook his head. "Not from my parents. But Lux told me that there are four of them and my father plans to make an official announcement on it later in the day. What about you?"

"You found out way more then I did. All the higher ranks officers of the Royal Court Guards are either just as clueless as us, or were told not to say anything. Even my dad and brother are keeping things hush, hush."

Jonathan sighed. "Obsidian said that she'll try and find out some information as well, but I haven't spoken to her in a while so I have no idea if she had or not."

"How's she doing by the way?" Sebastian asked.

"Good," Jonathan smiled. "She's back on her feet and moping around. She said thanks to Aaliya she didn't bleed to death."

A servant walked into the courtyard and stopped in front of the boys. He gave a short bow before speaking.

"An Aaliya Blythe Aashan is here to see you Young Prince."

"Speak of the devil," Sebastian said.

Jonathan stood. "Let her in. We'll meet her in the parlor."

The servant nodded once and left.

Aaly had frowned when Shotgun had refused to let her behind if something were to happen but had to keep herself from glaring at him in front of the guards, waiting patiently for her to be let in. She glanced at the summer house as she did so... As far as she could remember it, it had not changed at all.

When she was let in, she took a noiseless deep breath before stepping in through the big gates that led to the inside of the house. She could hear Shotgun's steps as he walked behind her as she maintained her gaze on the servant that led her through the place to where, she thought, she would meet up with District 1 Prince.

Jonathan and Sebastian walked into the parlor just as the servant brought Aaly and Shotgun in.

(Parlor^ Just not so... white)

"Aaliya, " Jonathan said stopping in front of her. "It's good to see you again. How have you been since," Jonathan paused. He was still upset about loosing the home he had grown up in. But he quickly recovered, he hated seeming weak. "The bombing? I wanted to contact you but I realized that I had no idea of how to reach you. Obsidian wanted to thank you for what you did. And so do I."

"I've been fine, Prince, thank you for asking" Aaly said before giving him a light bow "And you? It's good to see you're fine. How's Princess Obsidian?" She asked with a worried tone, which she would never tell, was genuine.

She then shook her head at his words of gratitude.

"I didn't do much, Prince. Just what I could so there's not need to mention it" Even though she was dying to ask everything already and get out she couldn't rush it like that, it would be just too suspicious.

(Oh... Like it ^^ Like it being so white as well, favorite color xP)

"She's doing much better. Her leg healed up perfectly. And, you don't have to call me by my title you know, you never have before. Please, sit." Jonathan waved his to the chair across the table and he and Sebastian sat on the other chair.

Shotgun was about to take a seat but Jonathan shot him such a cold look that he stopped and stayed standing behind Aaly. Shotgun cleared his throat. He was suppose to be a servant which meant that he wasn't suppose to sit in the presence of the higher class. Rocky mistake, he was suppose to be playing a part and if he wasn't careful they would get caught.

Jonathan shifted his attention from the imbecile servant to Aaliya. "Oh, this is Sebastian," he said motioning to his left. "Have you two ever met?" Sebastian had been by Jonathan's side sine he was twelve, almost thirteen. So Jonathan wasn't sure if Aaliya had left before or after Sebastian had been assigned to guard him.

"No," Sebastian said. "I think I'd remember you."

"Well. Sebastian, Aaliya. Aaliya, Sebastian."

Sebastian held out his hand. "Nice to meet you Aaliya."

(I don't think I've ever heard someone say their favorite color was white :P )

Aaly hadn't like it at all how Jonathan had looked at Shotgun, but what could she say? She just smiled when he told her she could call him by his name, not saying anything.

She stretched out her hand and took Sebastian's, giving him a firm yet delicate shake as she nodded at him.

"The pleasure is all mine" She exclaimed before pulling away and sitting down on the chair "It's been a while since I last was here" She commented as she glanced around for a moment "It hasn't changed much, has it?" She turned to him. First she guesses she could have to chit chat a little

(No? But it is awesome! x) :P )
