For centuries, the paper doll used to summon Shirou into the world had remained sealed away within the Shrine, locked away in a chest alongside the artefacts of his former Master; relics kept in honour for the deceased and to serve as physical reminders of the accomplishments of those who served under the shrine of Amane Jingu. It is here in this vault, that Shirou had slumbered in; the Shikigami hibernating in his dormant state and awaiting the day his master would return to the world of mortals as promised. Roughly 17 years ago, the birth of a young girl into the world had by fate evoked the birth of a second entity. Undisturbed for centuries, the small dust covered chest tucked away in the furthest corner of the Shrines Vault had began to shake; the cobwebs whose silk like arms had latched onto the frame of the wooden box had quickly losing their bearings as the box's slow shaking grew in ferocity. The spiders which had for years thrived within their silken kingdoms now scurrying away in fear as the once dormant box began to radiate in a white glow. Unbeknown to anyone at the time, Shirou; the shikigami familiar of a long since deceased Amane Jingu priest had began to stir from his slumber; the forced hibernation state he had been in for many centuries now coming to an end as the paper doll reacted to the spiritual flow of energy that had so many years ago given him life.
The birth of Kazumi; the future heir apparent to the Shrine of Amane Jingu had caused Shirou to return to the realm of man once more; to serve the master who centuries ago had given him life. Chaos erupted within the grounds of Amane as the white dog Kami burst through the shrines sealed vault; the Shikigami out of pure loyalty desperate to find his master once more. Alas, the truth of his return had not been what he had expected.
From atop the building opposite the hospital window, Shirou could only glare down at the new born girl; the source of the spiritual energy emanating from within her. As she slept in her mothers arms, the Shikigami felt nothing but turmoil, nothing but despair as he came to the realization that his Master had not returned as he had hoped. A torrent of emotions had built up within him as he continued to glare; Shirou could not believe it, he could not comprehend how this new born pup was the one who had caused his rebirth, that she shared the same spiritual energy of his former master. Confused, Angry and heartbroken, he was left to wonder whether or not the gods had decided to punish him?
