“A meat process..?” She did not exactly get what that was about. “Dry and salty sounds bad.” She figured she'd not like jerky, just like how she didn't like jerks.

“Tav-en?” She tried to repeat after Viole. “I'm not sure if Asuka would like it if I went to places where people get the bad water.” She'd reply, still hesitant about going to a tavern.

As for ideas on how to bring back the lion-kitten, there was one simple one. Aniel, beat her to it, however, as she was also about to suggest using fish. “Yep, using fish!” She'd confirm that was also her brilliant strategy.

The rest of what Aniel stated was all a tad weird. “Why?” She'd ask first, with regards to being called 'Ami' by this man. Upon learning he wasn't good with maths, however, she'd beam proudly. “I learned it like this! You have five fingers on each hand, so ten on both.” She'd show all ten fingers. “Then you have five more if you hold them up again, and one more from the other hand. So you have ten and five and one. Then ten and five make fifteen, then one more makes sixteen!” She'd explain, along with showing her fingers. “Although... It was difficult when it was nine and five and one and then another one...” She'd mumble, still recalling how loosing a finger had made maths all the more difficult for a while. It was good to have that back.

“Sweet..?” She'd ask, taking a few steps pack. How would he know what being sixteen tasted like? Did this stranger eat sixteen year old people? She didn't trust it. It was a good thing she had Viole to hide behind. His story didn't become less scary when he talked about dying, and withering and stuff. It was all pretty weird and incomprehensible. Upon thinking thirty was old, Aniel suddenly got struck by lightning and died on the spot.

As for the cat being a lion, she wasn't sure. “I think the lion might be a cat and the cat might be a lion?” That's what she'd understood thus far.

Fisher

DfVQS6X.png

The fisher would hear Aniel's request and suddenly pulled up his rod. A big fish was on it. Big enough no need holding with both hands. “Well, it's a nice day for fishin' indeed. There you go, you can take that one. I'm looking for one more legendary.” He shook his head at the offer of relationship aid. “The only relationship I need is my date with destiny, once I hook the most legendary fish ever hooked on the second continent! Unless you can help me hook up with that one, I'll be good” he'd state, then adding a “huh-huh!” to it.

M66Nddh.jpeg

When they approached the lion with the fish, the lion would get up and give a mighty roar. Staring at the fish with dangerous predatory eyes.

The lady would not at Edwin's words, showing a tad more of her background. “Let's hope it won't be needed, but a good idea if it is.” She'd rather have someone else 'play evil' in this case. Or perhaps be evil? Either way, it seemed like the idea satisfied her.

Shadow would hiss at Edwin, as if knowing what he'd said. “Calm down dear, just go play with Spot.” She'd tell the cat, after which it'd head off and vanish from their sights completely.

As for his mention of the cat 'on the battlefield', the woman would nod. “She has certainly served her time there, though as I am, she is now retired.” She'd make it clear she was not planning to get her cat back into such action.

She would nod at Marius, as he corrected his earlier mistakes. “You're forgiven dear.” She'd assure him that he wouldn't suddenly end up finding his parents assassinated and his family bankrupted.

kiy3XDL.jpeg

Sprinkels would meow at Marius, upon being told hello. Marius would also feel oddly revitalised and if he'd have happened to had any wounds on him or illnesses within him, they'd have vanished like kibble in front of a starving cat. It turned out he'd made a friend.

“I'd offer some tea, but it seems you'd better continue your quest instead.” The lady would state, as Marius repeated himself yet again. As they left, she'd follow after to ensure no cats would escape along with them.

Amilia was the first to arrive at the bakery, having skipped going back to the client's home first. From inside, she'd hear several voices. “Wait, really, like that?” “Why, yes, of course! Trust me!” “Should I add vanilla?” “Naturally! Let me smell it!... Hmmm, about two beans should do!” “How much sugar?” “About one and a half cups, if you use this one.”

The man who's shoulder Amilia tapped and asked about would shrug. He wasn't able to get past and see either, having heard and seen about as much as she had.

“Now, now! Not too hot, that butter needs to be melted, not caramelised!” They'd hear a voice exclaim from inside. “Yes sir, sorry sir!” Someone yelled in reply.

The baronet rode on top of his black horse, the crimson eyes of the creature matching the details, of the same color, on the knight’s ensemble. Despite the peaceful air of the village, the corrupted knight kept scanning his surroundings, his trust being a rare commodity. His mind already considered what sort of places he could visit next: the bug infested border between The See and the East Empire would provide some readily available combat, but slaughtering mindless insects could feel a tad hollow; brigands and bandits could be found in any nation, often poorly equipped and pathetic to kill; the feral cultists in the Republic, who feasted on their victims, could prove entertaining enough, even more with how aggressive those mindless, dirty [Beasts] could be at times.

Eventually, the thoughts of the next place in which Edgywin would dispense violence were interrupted by the man, which now the knight knew the name of: Marius. He would pull the reins of the destrier, making it stop with an echoing ‘clop’ of its hooves against the cobbled road. Making the animal turn fully towards Marius, the rider would shift the grip on his blackened, three-pronged lance slightly. His free-hand would slide across the plated chest, almost ceremoniously, until the clawed, armored index could poke against the skull embossed right at the center of the plated armor, below his neck. “I’m baronet Edwin of the House Stormcrest, Lord Stormcrest more appropriately.” The introduction added some unusual amusement to his otherwise cold voice.

With a slow, calculated motion, the finger who had been pointed at his own armor shifted, now pointing straight at Marius himself. “Say, I really liked the way you lied…” The sentence was accompanied by a laugh, one that appeared to have been born in the depths of his stomach. “... I would do well with a squire of such ability. Not everyone’s blood is worth coating my lance with. In fact, most aren’t…” His hand would then turn, palm being shown and offered. “... if you aren’t queasy to the violence that you might witness travelling with me, it could be a great opportunity. The offer of serving as a squire, to a noble and knight, does not come that often.” With his offer being put forward, his observation of the man would intensify, trying to pick any shift or change after the unexpected offer of service.

Eventually, he would arrive to his destination: the bakery. The crowd in front of it, an almost similar sight to the village square, didn’t improve his mood one bit. Why, oh, why had the lowest of low have to be gathered where he had to go to? And, moments before deciding how to clear a path for both him and Marius, the familiar sight of the woman, the one with pyrotechnical tendencies, was caught by the pitch-black eye slits of his helmet. “As amusing as it would be for me to open a path for us, be it through authority or force, I feel like this seems like a great opportunity for Marius here.” The idea of further testing the man skills enticed Edwin. And, with one swift movement, he was on foot once more. “An opportunity that I wouldn’t dream of robbing him of it.” Either he succeeded or crashed, it would prove entertainment for the corrupted knight all the same. And maybe, just maybe, Amilia would have gotten the whimsical motivations behind such an allowance. She was a fellow spectator, after all.

First Love Number 28.
  • "Invisible?" Aniel exclaimed, "You people amaze me! I ain't seen nothin' of the sort—seen cats without smiles but not smiles cats." He'd comment with his eyes wandering about, he listened but didn't listen to Viole or the Fisherman.

Addressing the little miss, Aniel ooh'd and ahh'd a little bit, nodding along as Amice explained how she understood mathematical concepts. "Counting with your fingers—" Aniel mirrored Amice as he pulled up all ten of his fingers, seemingly examining them. "It does become quite very verily much easier," He'd smile, "Nine," He held up nine fingers "Fourteen—" He held up five and then two ones, "Sixteen~♡ Oh! You could also count up to ten and then when you run out of fingers to count, you put them all down and then count from ten, pulling up a finger for each new number and so on and on~♡" Aniel explained happily, demonstrating as he did. This was his usual method for certain simple addition sums.

"'Tis an idiom~♡ I dunno what it actually, really definitely means, but like, it's nice to be sixteen 'yea?" He'd reply, utterly and completely unaware of Amice's bewilderment. "Cats are just bigger lions with fluffier necks~" Aniel simplified. This was entirely wrong.

With the fisherman offering the fish without any want for anything, Aniel blushed a bit. The way he spoke, the 'date with destiny' line, speaking of his dream so fervently—all appealed to Aniel immensely. "O- oh, grazie—I mean, thank you." Aniel's blank stare matched his robotically blank movements as his removed his cape and folded it, acting like a cloth as he held the fish by the tail. He disliked most slimy things. He took out the [Letter Opener] from his satchel, put the fish on the ground and held it still with his foot.

He wasn't thinking about the fish as he spiked it with his letter opener. He got incredibly into fishing and eating fish after learning that a girl he liked really really enjoyed eating fish. It was her favourite food, so he learned everything he needed to know about catching and preparing fish and stuff. He found out later in the month that she had a boyfriend. When the fish sufficiently dead and unmoving, Aniel would move on.

His first love, new first love; indeed that man was truly the ideal person! Someone with heart and a dream, and not to mention that he can provide an indefinite supply of delicious food! He was perfect, clearly—oh wait, he was supposed to be taming a cat that is a lion. Or something. "Yoohoo~ Little Sir or Lady Leon kitty thingie~♡" Aniel beckoned the cat or lion or whatever, completely unphased by the lion's mighty roar, "spsppspspspssssssspspspss—you want this deliciously fresh fishy fish-fish, don'tcha~?" Aniel approached slowly, before crouching and holding out the fish toward the lion by its tail, attempting to make himself seem less threatening; he crouched, becoming smaller than the not a cat, lion. "tchtchtch, c'mon, c'mon; don't be grumpy, I'm giving you this fish 'cause you're the cutest lil' thing I've ever seen!" Aniel exclaimed with a smile, unaware of how much danger he may be in.

The ecstasy rush of true love was exhilarating to Aniel, he didn't care much about being alive. He was still thinking about that fisherman. After all, if things went wrong, he would fly away. Plus, dying might not be as permanent anyway. He didn't really care.

Marius felt a bit of a chill run up his spine as the imposing knight, the giant, metal-clad person turn to pay his attention to him. This person's homicidal tendencies and seemingly any lack of sympathy for life only made the goosebumps on his neck more logical. At the very least, it didn't seem like he would be using Marius's body as an effigy, although seeing the slight movement of the lance made him jump, for sure.
"It is an honor to make your acquaintance, Ed--" Ah, right, nobility. "Lor--" Marius felt a kind of defeat in calling this person 'Lord'. "...yes, an honor, noble knight," he'd mutter hesitantly. In some world, this would probably result in his foolish head rolling down the street; he hoped this world wasn't the case.
Marius's thought process was interrupted quite abruptly as Edwin proposed for him to become a "squire". He knew well what the word 'squire' meant, but in this case, he would feel as if he was being offered to become the companion to a mass murder. Of course, biases are not good, not good at all! Life is unknowable, and so are people. But when the person in question laughs as another breaks his hand against the former's armor and readies himself to slaughter those who seem only weaker than him, there are some impressions that are ought to pop up.

Marius didn't like violence much. He was fine with it in media and whatnot, he wasn't so squeamish - the idea of hurting another, however, made him uncomfortable. He wanted to be the pillar that others could lean on, not more than that. Let him melt into the background, that'd be fine as long as he could help.
He remembered one time where he struggled to raise his hand against some troublemakers that were harassing his classmate. The classmate ended up moving to another school, citing "uncomfortable conditions". Marius felt his heart drop.
He took himself out of his thoughts. "A squire?" - he wondered aloud, - "I am very honored, but I'm but someone who does the odd job or two. Surely I am not fit for a position such as being your squire," he said as he eyed the bakery that they were arriving to. The emphasis on his "lie" was certainly not making him feel too accomplished, either.

Great, he'd think to himself as he saw the familiar woman near the bakery. Now there's a pyromaniac in the group. Violent tendencies seem to be fairly common in here, but he let that be a thought for another day as he focused on the mission: retriever the cream-loving ca--

"I'm sorry?" Marius looked at the woman, confused at her proposal, only to be put in an even bigger stupor by the knight's support.
"Please do not shoehorn me in with you two, I would like to live nornally."
Is what he would say if he didn't feel the overwhelming presence of the knight's lance and the overwhelming presence of his flammable body. Besides, the mission should be taking priority, right?
With a sigh, he gave the two a shrug, forcing a defeated "fine" out of himself as he headed towards the crowd. He quickened his step, giving the people at the very edge of the group of people some slight pushes. "What's going on? We're running pretty late," he'd say out loud, hoping to catch the attention of the villagers. He'd tap his foot on the floor and huff and puff slightly, blinking faster and biting on the inside of his cheek. He was "hurrying", and he couldn't let this stand. "Will someone tell me what's happening?" he complained once more, a tired - mostly because of having to keep making up bad ruses - huff escaping his lips.

Amice Bellamy

Languages: Common | {Sylvan}

Viole didn't seem in a talkative mood, so it was up to Amice to try reply to Aniel. Something that wasn't exactly easy for her. “Smiles cats?” She had no clue what that was about. Then again, she was confused about most things that Aniel staid, as well as about Aniel's existence as a whole.

As Aniel was counting, Amice realised she couldn't count on him. “Five fingers and five fingers makes ten, then one finger and one finger makes twelve, not fourteen.” She'd diligently correct him, showing it again on her own fingers. How he got to sixteen from seven was beyond her. In fact, his own finger calculations were so strange that Amice herself got confused. Staring blankly at her fingers, she'd listen to his idea on counting more, yet she'd already been too confused. “... but... five fingers and two ones is eh... seven?”

The next bit was equally confusing. “Why would it be nice to be sixteen? Isn't it also nice to be other ages?” Was there something special about this age that she wasn't understanding? Did she miss something? “What is an idiom? Is that like an idiot, but for ages?”

“Right!” She'd agree with Aniel. Lions were just bigger lions with fluffier necks. That made sense. Of course not every cat needed to be of a similar size as all other cats.

Amice didn't once flinch when Aniel killed the fish. She'd killed them often enough herself. She'd also seen Tahmuras bite off their heads and Asuka peck them to death or rip them apart with her talons. All in all, she was used to some fish-based violence.

As Aniel would call out to the lion, it bared its teeth as it got closer. The rows and rows of sharp and lethal teeth were on clear display. The vast hulking mass of muscle this 'cat' owed and the ease with which it might rip anything to shreds on clear display.

M66Nddh.jpeg

Yet upon hearing a delicious fish was up for grabs, as well as presumably hearing he was called the cutest little thing ever, the lion started to change in front of their eyes.

QhoSKP9.jpeg

“Meow!” The lion sized cat? Lion-like cat? Catlion? Calion? The creature, almost so adorable one might mistake it for a plushy as all my AI attempts give me those called out. Getting closer to start nibbling on the fish it'd be offered by Aniel. It'd be very easy to scoop it up and carry it off by now.

There wasn't much happening for a bit, as Edwin called for Marius to clear a path. Whilst he explained Marius about said mission, more talking could be heard from within the bakery. A continuation of the earlier conversation. “SIR?!? Are you blind!” “Ehm... sorry madam!” “Whatever, at least tell me this place has saffron? It'll give us the best and most appetising colour, guaranteed!” “I'm sorry madam, turmeric is the best we've got.” “By the heavens, this is why I didn't want to move to such a backwater village! Fine, use turmeric, just not too much.” “Is someone burning the butter? It smells weird?” “By the gods, someone is! Can everyone not helping please just get out of here? I'm trying to get my fix here! Hsssss!” The last sentence was ended by a rather odd hissing sound.

It was around that time that Marius started pushing people away. Some folk, hearing him talk about 'running late' assumed he was with the one commanding everyone. As such, they moved out of the way surprisingly easy. The combination of the cat's earlier orders and his work eventually made a path for them to get into the bakery itself.

zsU8xlW.jpeg

On the desk, staring into a bowl of freshly made cream, was a cat that fit the description given to them perfectly or at least as close as the AI would get it, so yes, this is Oreo. It wasn't an entirely common cat, the ears and the chef's hat stood out in equal measure, but it seemed normal enough otherwise. Oddly enough, a few chef-looking people were staring at the cat with some real intensity. As if expecting something big to happen.

Seeing that the two of them got it handled despite Aniel's inability to count, Viole took a back seat for now, after all, Amice was supposed to do the quest, he was just here to help.
When the lion bared its teeth and came closer to them Viole was enjoying the view of the lion though he stood in front of Amice in case it wanted to attack, but seeing it turn small only to begin eating the fish he relaxed his guard. He then knelt in front of the Cat-Lion, to speak to the cat.

"Your parent worries for you. Is it ok for me to pick you up along with the fish you are munching on and transport you safely back to her?"
Viole asked, truthfully he knew the cat wouldn't really respond, though seeing one that can vanish, and this one turn into a lion, honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if one of those cats could speak fluently in common or at least understand what is being said to it.
After asking his question he simply knelt there while observing the cat-lion for any signs that it might accept Viole's offer or attempt to escape, and if he did try escaping he was ready to plummet this little one into his pocket dimension for a bit to be able to release it soon after now within his grasp. Truthfully he wanted to avoid doing so but what had to be done will be done if needed.

If Edwin’s face could be seen, a raised eyebrow and a calculating gaze would be present on his face, while staring at Marius. “Mmmm~” He let out a knowing, meaningful hum with the man addressing him as ‘noble knight’. Not exactly what he expected, but he decided to accept it for the moment. Thankfully, the words chosen by Marius to refuse the offer of being a squire were the correct ones, just enough to convey the honor of the opportunity and politeness to turn it down. “So, just one for smaller tasks, uh? Interesting… and not even armed…” For the first time, the corrupted knight was actually paying attention to the man and the fact he didn’t seem to have a single weapon on him made a vile grin stretch from ear-to-ear under his helmet. While it was a pity that he likely wouldn’t be present when push came to shove, his imagination did all the work on picturing how a hostile encounter could work for the man in front of him. “... daring even.”

“Well, well, well, looks like someone sees this pitiful village as the insignificant speck that it is!”
The baronet remarked, in a rather amused tone, hearing the voice that shared his opinion from inside the bakery. “I bet lordship over this area was handed out as a punishment rather than reward.” The gratuitous and demeaning comments were accompanied by a muffled chuckle, while he waited Marius to work his lying magic over the foolish crowd. And, when it did, he would accompany, not wanting to miss whatever might be happening inside the bakery, the sound of thumping metal resounding with each heavy step.

Inside the bakery, a most amusing of sight would be caught by his pale, azure orbs. A cat wearing a chef hat was commanding the attention of the employees of the bread and pastries shop. “What are you all gawking at?” Edgywin wasted no time in asking, stepping closer and to the side of the animal. In such a short time, it appeared that Oreo had been made into that place’s mascot. Taking in consideration that one of the cats of lady Felinus could vanish from clear sight, one had Mind Control abilities, the other could, allegedly, revive people, a thought began brewing inside the baronet’s mind. “Let me guess: you can cook and bake?” He asked the cat, the void eyeholes of his helmet fixed on the animal, not even caring about the absurdity of the question.
