The Invitation

Takamagahara (AKA Heaven)
"Alright~! The invitations have been prepped and are ready to be sent!" one of the Regalia belonging to the much famed Patron of Matrimony called. They were all dressed in mostly white attire with salmon pink ribbons wrapped around their waists. On their feet were straw sandals laced up with golden straps that crisscrossed up the calf to complete the simple but cute look.
Another Regalia in this uniform nodded and smiled brightly, albeit a bit tiredly. "Then let's get them into the air." A squadron of four maidens opened the door to the room that had been converted into an aviary of sorts.
Within were birds of three main types: elegant cranes with their long skinny legs, jewel-like quetzels and hummingbirds and cardinals, and bright-eyed cockatiels and parrots of all shades and shapes. The enclosures were large and made of translucent glassy material. And they seemed ordinary enough, except for the lack of droppings and that if you looked closely enough, where usually one would find the detail of feathers these birds sported elegant script.
A tall maiden who was obviously in charge nodded. "Junbii-en and his cohorts did a decent job on these. Let's release them with a blessing." She unlocked the first cage full of smaller birds looking like bursts of color: blood-orange, teal, golden... "May each of you find your destination with all the swiftness of the winds." A second girl unlocked the next cage of tropical parrots and said the same, and once more with the long-legged fliers. The invitation-bearing avians flooded the skies, invisible to the mortal eye, for all the world appearing like angels taken to the sky. The smallest birds would remain close to home, while the farther away would receive parrots or herons. Once they reached the intended recipient, the birds would devolve into a painted scroll bearing the conspicuous words: 'YOU'RE INVITED!' which would be followed by the details and date of the event. 'Dress classy but comfortable. Be prepared for dancing. Gift optional.' it would say in gilded calligraphy.
The first Ceremony of Union between two kami in a thousand years. The residents of Takamagahara knew it would usher in a new era. An era in which the matched survived.
