The Invitation
Takamagahara (AKA Heaven)

"Alright~! The invitations have been prepped and are ready to be sent!" one of the Regalia belonging to the much famed Patron of Matrimony called. They were all dressed in mostly white attire with salmon pink ribbons wrapped around their waists. On their feet were straw sandals laced up with golden straps that crisscrossed up the calf to complete the simple but cute look.
Another Regalia in this uniform nodded and smiled brightly, albeit a bit tiredly. "Then let's get them into the air." A squadron of four maidens opened the door to the room that had been converted into an aviary of sorts.

Within were birds of three main types: elegant cranes with their long skinny legs, jewel-like quetzels and hummingbirds and cardinals, and bright-eyed cockatiels and parrots of all shades and shapes. The enclosures were large and made of translucent glassy material. And they seemed ordinary enough, except for the lack of droppings and that if you looked closely enough, where usually one would find the detail of feathers these birds sported elegant script.

A tall maiden who was obviously in charge nodded. "Junbii-en and his cohorts did a decent job on these. Let's release them with a blessing." She unlocked the first cage full of smaller birds looking like bursts of color: blood-orange, teal, golden... "May each of you find your destination with all the swiftness of the winds." A second girl unlocked the next cage of tropical parrots and said the same, and once more with the long-legged fliers. The invitation-bearing avians flooded the skies, invisible to the mortal eye, for all the world appearing like angels taken to the sky. The smallest birds would remain close to home, while the farther away would receive parrots or herons. Once they reached the intended recipient, the birds would devolve into a painted scroll bearing the conspicuous words: 'YOU'RE INVITED!' which would be followed by the details and date of the event. 'Dress classy but comfortable. Be prepared for dancing. Gift optional.' it would say in gilded calligraphy.

The first Ceremony of Union between two kami in a thousand years. The residents of Takamagahara knew it would usher in a new era. An era in which the matched survived.

Sachi
Yuu’s House, Bedroom

“B-but that ring means a lot to Yuu. He’d be miserable if he couldn’t find it…a-and a miserable human makes phantoms…”

Azani sounded like a mature goddess--just like Jizo. She finally understood what he meant when he told her that she didn’t belong in the human world. Humans would forget her. She couldn’t expect anything from them. They had their lives to live and moved with the passage of time. She did not. She’d let herself get too attached…it was a mistake. But even so she didn’t regret it. It was a fleeting moment, but it was wonderful. Perhaps it was because Azani experienced love that she couldn’t understand it.

The wedding ring was a symbol of Yuu’s love for his wife. Sachi wanted Yuu to be happy. He hadn’t meant to throw it away. It was a mistake. He’d been angry. But he loved his wife and he’d risked his life to try to correct his error. He was fighting to keep his family together.

“Gods should save humans. Just like you saved me, you can help others.”

If Azani wouldn’t help her, Sachi would find Yuu’s ring by herself. She didn’t need to talk to him. She could even keep her distance. However, Yuu was Sachi’s friend and she wouldn’t ignore him if he needed help. Whether he was human or not made no difference. Sachi disobeyed Jizo to help Yuu 40 years ago. It was mistake, but she didn’t regret it. If she had too, Sachi would disobey Azani as well. Once she completed whatever tasks Azani needed her to complete, and she was returned to her human form, Sachi would look for Yuu’s ring with or without Azani.

“I know humans grow with mistakes,” Sachi continued. “I did…and I’m not even alive. But Yuu realized his mistake. He tried to correct it by risking his life. I don’t want him to risk it again looking for that ring. I-I think if you save someone you should go all the way. Gods grant the wishes of humans, right? They aren’t uninvolved with humans. Yuu clearly wants his ring. I mean he’s not conscious enough to voice that, but it should be obvious.”

A daring comment to be said to a goddess. It wasn’t as if Sachi had any right to tell Azani what to do…least of all since Azani saved her from her own mistake. However, compared to Jizo, Sachi felt more comfortable speaking her mind to Azani who seemed more like a child. Getting too attached to a human was no good. But ignoring them, or just saving the ones that prayed and gave offerings, was wrong too.

Nagi
Kyoto, Matsubaya Inn

Lifting his eyes from the cards he held, Nagi was the first to notice the parrot that landed on the window sill of their room. While Hiname struggled to choose what card to play in their game of 13, Nagi walked over and opened the window, letting the colorful avian it, knowing instinctively that it wasn’t a creature of the mortal realm. The parrot squawked happily before dissolving into a scroll that Nagi read quickly.

It was an invitation to a binding ceremony--just as Fuujin said.

“What is it?”

“An invitation to a Heavenly Gathering.”

Nagi handed the scroll to his curious regalia. He didn’t keep very many secrets from them, except for the ones they didn’t need to know. “It looks like wedding invitation to me.”

“It certainly does,” Nagi agreed. Given the details, it appeared to be the equivalent of a human marriage. However, there had to be more than that. Surely a simple marriage couldn’t strengthen the existence of two gods alone. Amongst humans, marriage was simply a formality—an event to have their relationship recognized by whatever cultural society they lived in. As a Travel God, who had lived 700 years and been all over the world, he’d seen many types of marriages. He’d seen many divorces as well. There were couples that remained together even without marriage. And there were married couples who split after the first month. Marriage didn’t equate to love.

“Are we going, Lord Nagi? Please tell me we’re going.” Hiname tried for the puppy dog face.

Nagi smiled. Certainly it was true that Nagi didn’t like returning to Heaven too much, but he was curious about the ritual that would supposedly save his fellow gods. Besides, Nagi wasn’t good at saying no to Hiname-chan's puppy dog face. “We would be rude not to attend.”

“The invitation says to dress classy, but comfortably. So we’ll need to go shopping. Especially for Kaname. Hopefully he doesn’t eat in Heaven like he eats here. There also dancing, but I don’t know how to dance. Do you know how to dance, Lord Nagi?”

“I do.” 700 years wasn’t for nothing. “I can teach if you want, Hiname-chan. Though, I think Tatsume’s better at dancing than I am. A better teacher as well.”

“I’ll bet Kaname doesn’t know either. He would look like an idiot standing in the background while everyone dances.”

“We can ask him when he wakes up,”
Nagi replied lazily. “But there’s still plenty of time before the ceremony, so it’s nothing to lose any sleep over. Are you tired yet, Hiname-chan?”

“Not really.” Hiname yawned, setting the scroll aside as she picked up her cards “I napped a bit when you were in the bathroom so I should be good to go. Besides, the sun’s already up,”

“Let's keep going then.”

Nagi was betting another two or three more rounds would put his regalia straight to some much-needed sleep.

Azani
Inside Yuu's house, bedroom

At this point Azani was getting to the end of her rope she had been more thank kind and accommodating to Sachi she had gone above and beyond how it normally went and still she was getting bugged to do what Sachi thought gods did. It was like Sachi had forgotten what shr was a Shinigami a god of death. She wasn't a god of love or marriage or luck or even good fortune she was death. Was that really so hard to get if it was any other day if Ai had been here Azani would have sent Sachi to the afterlife and gone back to somone she saw as not going to constantly bug her.

"Come Sachi" Azani said turning her back into her human form. "Listen Sachi I am a Shinigami a god of death not finding lost things, not in giving into sob stories or anything else you are going to have to understand that" She started " I helped you on a whim and while I am going to bother to find this ring just to get this all done remember this I can't always be nice I kill people I take their souls before they die and kill them" She said making sure this was clear "I am not some golden god of fortune or loving god of marriage I am a god of death and that is what is required of me"She finished annoyed.

Azani felt the emotions Sachi did when she was a weapon and knew even if she said no and left Sachi planed to come back any other god would likely see this say betraying them, but Azani was to annoyed and desperate to just send Sachi to the after life.

"We will find this ring but know that my charity is nearing its limits for the day " She warned not wanting to be given endless requests "This is the last kindness as any other god would have named you and done none if this and any other Shinigami would have sent you to the afterlife already do keep thst in mind" She finished before heading out the door she was done being overly nice though on truth she was being harsh because it was needed and some other reason she didn't understand or want to.

Hasuna's Shrine

"Garden, huh? Yeah, that'll work" Kokoro turned and started towards the garden, waving her hand when Kimi asked her to join her. "Yeah, yeah. See ya in a bit."" She answered without looking back, before vanishing into the trail of plants.

She wasn't there for long, maybe five minutes, as what should have been a relaxing walk through the greenery sent her anxiety spiking through the roof. Despite the kid's reasurance that the shrine was safe, she found herself checking her corners for the shadowy creatures and flinching at the slightest noise. She tried to tell herself it was alright, that she was safe, but with each step she believed herself less and less. She had a mini heart attack when she tought she saw eyes out of the corner of her vision, but when there was nothing there she decide that she'd had enough. "Fuck this!" She growled, spinning around and rushing back to the shrine.

Reaching the main building Kokoro finaly came to a stop, leaning back against one of the pillars, her heart hammering in her chest. Why had she thought that had been a good idea, going off on her own like that? She knew, she knew, that you did not leave someone who just went through a tramatic experiance alone. She knew that! And yet she had just done that to herself! Forget collecting her thoughts, she needed to cool her nerves. Her hands shaking, she dug through her jacket untill she found a white box and a scratched up lighter. She pulled out a cigarette and put it to her lips, crusing as she struggled to light it. "Come on, damnit. Hold still." Finaly she managed to catch the tip on fire and took a long draw, snapping the lighter closed with a click.

Sachi
Yuu's House, Bedroom

Returned to her human form, Sachi stiffened at Azani’s annoyed tone, her eyes steadily widening with each cold word spoken until the Death God finished with her warning. She had over-stepped her bounds. Just as humans were different from spirits, gods were different from spirits. There were levels even in the Far Shore. Azani was a goddess. Sachi wasn’t some new regalia unaware of the consequences of upsetting one. She should’ve known better.

Alone, and trembling a bit, Sachi nonetheless forced herself still. She wasn’t the type of spirit that would break into tears at being chastised. Sachi was better than that. Taking a deep breath, the pale-skinned regalia closed her eyes, putting the hurt, anger, and any negative feelings that would blight Azani away into a tight-lidded box. A regalia that blighted their god got thrown, away after all.

Truthfully, Sachi didn’t know anything about Death Gods. She had assumed that all gods were the same. They fulfilled the wishes of mortals. They were caring, compassionate, and wise. She had thought even a Death God would have the capacity to be as such. She’d thought Azani to be a kind person deep down. However, the goddess’s callous words reverberated in her mind. A whim. Azani had saved her on a mere whim. It wasn’t out of compassion or sympathy. Not even necessity.

Sachi clenched her hand, angry with herself. She’d let her imagination run wild. It was because of Yuu. Sachi had been able to be herself with Yuu. However, those days were over. He no longer saw her…and she was no longer tied down. With Jizo, she’d worn the mask of a ‘good girl’. Azani needed something different. Sachi took in Azani’s description of Death Gods and used that to craft her new mask—the perfect, callous Servant of Death. Someone who could smile even when taking a life.

When Sachi opened her eyes, they were duller. Colder—even as a smile played across her face. This is what Sachi was good at. She wasn’t a strong spirit. She couldn’t even break her own chains. Her will was weak. However, Sachi was survivor. She could be what people wanted her to be. Glancing at Yuu’s sleeping form, Sachi was pleased to find that no emotions emerged for the human. She had locked them away. The Sachi that loved Yuu wasn’t needed in her new life. Azani wanted a regalia that didn’t love. That wasn’t nice to humans. Therefore Sachi locked away the unnecessary things Jizo had taught her as well. Perhaps Azani’s willingness to perform charity might’ve meant something, but Sachi wasn’t about to risk being sent to the afterlife on a whim. She wasn’t nearly so brave.

Catching up to Azani, with her hands behind her back, Sachi followed one step behind Azani—matching the goddess pace for pace.

“I’m sorry, Azani.” The Death God had said to call her by her name. “I won’t make such requests of you again.”

Glancing up at morning sky, clear of the storm, Sachi spoke playfully. “You don’t have to be so cranky, you know~ A simple, no, I don’t want to would’ve sufficed. There’s no need to dirty your hands for a mere human anyway~” Splaying her hand in front of her, Sachi giggled as she gazed at her unadorned fingers. “It’s just a ring. He’ll get over it.”

The sound of flapping wings drew Sachi’s eyes back to the sky.

“My~What a pretty birdie~” Sachi hummed carelessly, her painted fingers shading her eyes. “I wonder what it wants…”

Azani
Inside Yuu's house, bedroom

She had been to harsh, much to harsh Azani knew that she had over blown things and had lashed out because well she might have expected to much given her only really shinki before this had been Ai and she was long used by many gods, and she had left. It was fine Azani was used to being left and alone she in fact wouldn't be surprised if Sachi wanted to leave after she had lashed out so even threatening to send her. It had been to much but Azani had been annoyed and she didn't like being compared to others god she wasn't like them, a god was born of a wish, a phantom born of a curse, and a shinigami born of a fear at least in her mind. She was the other different from both the two groups not really belonging in either.

" It is fine, i lost my temper" Azani admitted willing to say that much as that was true " Today has been taxing you are my regalia my partner i should be careful to not be so cranky " she continued ' But at least you will know now i am different than any other god you might have met in function and existence" She finished before looking for anything shiny as the bird came by and she noticed it was no creature of earth.

" look for the ring it seems heaven has taken some intrest in me" She said her tone not exactly happy with that news as she soon took the scroll and started reading.

Hasuna
Anime Person.jpg
Kyoto, Hasuna's Shrine

Seeing Kimi rummaging through the fridge was a sight that made Hasuna just about leap with joy. She loved to see that people loved her food. Why, of course you can have as much food as you want. The greatest compliment to a chef is to ask for more after all! You know I'll make the ramen if you want Kimi, and I'll also get the tea going. So where is Koko? She went to take a walk around the garden in order to clear her thoughts. Oh, good. Why don't you go check on her though, just in case she's hungry now? Yes Lady Hasuna, I'll do it right away. But right as he went out the door he saw Kokoro right there leaning on the wall of the Honden smoking a cigarette. Oh, I wasn't expecting you here so soon. I take it your walk through the garden was restorative? When you finish, why don't you come inside, Lady Hasuna is making Ramen. he then went inside motioning for Koko to follow. Lady Hasuna, it appears she has finished her walk. She's right outside having a cigarette.

Yuuken
Kyoto Rooftops

Yuu was tired, absolutely tired. Taking down that huge phantom had taken a lot out of him. Not to mention his mistress dragging him through the rooftops, his legs weak and wobbly. He wasn't that powerful of a regalia just yet. He'd only been one for a few years. But, he got the job done and protected the mortals. Serving Shizyua was his purpose, he did it well and she never really complained. He stared at the man on the rooftops with tired eyes, who the hell was this? He studied Ude intensely, was he human or was he a Kami? His question was answered when the man pointed him out as a regalia.
<p>
His lips parted in a deep sigh, his mind foggy. He could kill this last one, he had no choice. He honestly didn't even have the energy to be pissed at the other Kami. Ordering his Mistress like that. His body morphed into weapon form and he felt himself getting sharper in attention. His blade sliced and diced the fat punk of a phantom. He definitely would need a bath after this, wash off the filth of even touching phantoms. They were such vile creatures, he didn't want their taint on him. "Rend!" he called as they made quick work of the phantom.
<p>
Shizyua reverted him back to human form and he placed his butt on the ground. His legs crossing and his chin resting in his palms. The storm was gone, others from Heaven had made work of the phantoms, it was a relief. Though something caught his eyes, a large colorful bird that almost glimmered in the natural light. "What?" he said as he noticed that it wasn't a bird of this shore, but of Heaven. "Mistress look." he said and pointed to the incoming bird.

Shizuya

Shizuya sighed in relief at the other god's assurance that there weren't any more. She knew her poor Regalia was tired. She hadn't really used him as a weapon much at all, and yet here she was dragging him across rooftops and making him kill things. That was alright. They wouldn't be doing anymore fighting for a while. Hopefully.
She reverted him, and he chose to sit down immediately. She almost chuckled. Right as she was about to say something to him, Ude pointed out a regalia on the street that seemed to be running towards them.
"He's certainly not mine. I only have need for Yuuken." She stated simply before she gave her regalia her full attention. He was so tired. Poor little guy.
Then Yuuken pointed out a large bird that was clearly not from the far shore. "Hm. Good eye!" She complimented, holding out her arm. The bird, instead of landing on her wrist as she had expected, touched her skin for a second and then poofed, leaving behind a scroll.
Shizuya raised an eyebrow before unrolling the scroll and beginning to read. After a second Shizuya furrowed her eyebrows.
"It seems we've been invited to...basically a wedding." She surmised before rolling up the scroll and looking at Yuuken with a smile. She would have to decide whether or not she felt like attending a gathering of the gods.
"We'll talk about it a little later. For now, what would you like to eat? You can pick whatever you like." Shizuya offered. She made a mental note to get him a bunch of sweets as a reward for working so hard. And perhaps a cat. Or something. She wasn't sure, but he deserved something special.

Ame

City Streets(Kyoto)

The feeling instantly evaporated almost as soon as it had found itself perturbing her. As she slowed from her sprint and eventually bent over bringing her hands to her chest as the nora attempted to catch her breath.
Her intuition did not stop there as she felt that she was being watched. Ame brought her gaze toward the pair...make that a trio as the female goddess reverted her blade back into its child like form.
She took a few calming breaths before speaking so as not to sound as ragged and fatigued as she truly was.
"I apologize for the intrusion Lady Shizuya, but i need to speak with my Kami"
Ame called upward to the rooftops hopefully loud enough for them to hear as bright whited birds flew past her and found their way to the beings above her.

She knew nothing of the invitations but used this time to take the silence as acceptance.

With a running start she scaled up a shops scaffolding and with a final leap found her way to the rooftop with the others.
She let her attentions fall onto them once more but as she took a few steps forward she stopped cold.
"Ude i was sure you were in danger....you should have called....Ude?"
His name was filled with confusion as she looked him over...something was different.

This did not feel like the same man she once knew...He was there and she felt his presence but whether he felt hers was a different story...The same but different...
"Did you?....Ude..."

Udeya
A Rooftop In Kyoto
My Kami

That's what she said, but she didn't mean Shizuya.

Ude watched her as she made her way up to them, noting the names covering every inch of her skin. The name popped in his head, as if he had known it all along. She was a Nora. Some part of him probably had known it, the same part that was more god than human. He was sure he never met her before, and yet she knew his name. She called him her kami.

"Revert, Inbu," he said while the Nora talked to him.

Since the phantom was gone, there was no reason to keep Inbu as Raiki. Inbu stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles, looking between him and the Nora. "So, should I know who this is?" he asked, even though his eyes were on the bird waiting next to Ude's feet.

Ude couldn't answer that. He had no memory of her. He tilted his head, but he didn't recognize any of the names on her. Could there be another god named Ude out there? He doubted it.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I know you."

Kaname
Kyoto, Matsubaya Inn

Kana opened his eyes and wondered why it was still morning.

The sun was up, but not enough for it to be midday. Which was the only acceptable time to be awake after the night he had. Plus, he was still tired. It felt like he hadn't slept at all. He squinted at the floor, but he only found the answer to what woke him up when he heard Nagi and Hiname talking somewhere behind him.

Something about an invitation. And Hiname insulting him while she thought he was asleep. Typical. He thought about getting up, but his arms wouldn't move. He dozed off as Hiname and Nagi discussed the ceremony, but was woken up again when the two agreed to play more rounds of who-knew-what.

Kana made an annoyed noise and chucked his pillow at them,
"Oh, sure, go ahead and keep talking. It's not like I'm trying to sleep here or anything. In fact, you should plan out the rest of the week while you're at it," he refused to turn around. If he got up, he would be closer to being awake than asleep. And that wouldn't do. Kana rolled over, just enough to grab the pillow from the futon next to him and shove it over his face.

Ame

City Streets(Kyoto)

The words fell like pebble breaking the waters surface and causing the disturbance to force a ripple effect within her.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I know you."
So she had failed....it had happened after all. Her words meant nothing, the promise she had given even at his reluctance had been proven false. Ude at some point....had died...

France (Paris) 1853 (French Revolution)
The nora quietly exhaled through her cuffed hands. It was so cold here and she thought the arduous journey across the waters by trade ship was bad enough.
Ame had heard stories of this land to the west and had finally made the effort to leave japan and experience another lands culture.
She was.....surprisingly unimpressed.
The woman had only been ashore for three days and the turmoil of the revolt that ensued caused more than a revolution to transpire...it brought phantoms.

Currently that was what the Nora was hiding from. Its grotesque visage appearing like a large stork with bloodied matted wings and serrated edgings within its beak.
She waited until its hot breath pressed closed before she let loose a muffled borderline to knock it back as she ran.

Ame ran and ran around corners and through alleyways past various dredges of society, those seen as scum... She pushed past them unseen until she hit something hard as the pair fell.
That...was how she first met Ude...a god who was a muse of invention although he was a good man at heart.

The two stayed with one another in europe for years after they met.
Eventually she was given the name Hagaka and this was also the only kami that she had gotten to truly know before accepting to become his regalia.

Milan (1857) Countess' Lilliana's Manor
The pair danced among the reaches of the participants in the ballroom. The night taking hold of the pair as they danced, drank, and spoke of life and the future.
The night was almost over as the kami and nora respectively shared glasses of champagne beside the fountain that was placed squarely in the grounds.
Suddenly Ame had to speak and her words even though she had not known it then would be the last she would have ever told him...
"Ude...I know this is selfish of me...but i need you to call for me, to need me, to never forget me...If you can do that...I will always protect you"
She confided from her heart as her hand covered the mark he had given her that was placed over her left collarbone and edged onto her chest.
The Nora stood her bare feet in the cool water as Ude splashed her from the fountain she giggled and returned the favor as they exchanged this interaction throughout the night. The rippling water of the fountain...of a better time...when she wasnt alone.

Present Time And Location

The memory flashed before her eyes as a simple tear fell but she withheld the emotions the memories had unearthed inside her. The nora used what was left of her tattered hoodie to cover her showing names as she walked toward Ude and Inbu.
"You...promised...that night...Ude how could you die...how could you?!"
She stifled through crying before raising a hand and bringing it toward the Kami's cheek with incredible speed.
Her reverberating thought was that he wanted her to be herself. She told herself so as not to feel guilt and blight him.
That was the last thing she wanted.
"All you had to do was call for me Ude, Its me Hagaka dont you remember?...Suki thats what you called me...you have to...Ude please.."
She scolded through tears as she pulled down her shirts collar to show the mark that resonated a light teal color at her mention of her vessel name.
"It can't all be lost...it can't all be forgotten"

Nagi
Kyoto, Matsubaya Inn

About to play the first card of the game, Nagi blinked when a pillow landed to the side of Hiname’s head, followed by Kaname’s voice. It would seem that they had woken the boy with all the noise they made.

Facing the teenager, who had his face buried in the pillow he’d stolen from Nagi’s futon, Nagi smiled sheepishly. “Ah, sorry about that, Ka—,”

A pillow sailed by Nagi head and struck Kaname.

“It’s better than not planning anything at all! You should be grateful there are people doing the planning so you don’t end up looking like a Grade-A idiot in front of all those High-end Heavenly folks.”

“Hiname-chan, that’s—,”

“And you, Lord Nagi. Are you just going to let a regalia talk to you like that without saying anything back? If you don’t stand up for yourself, you’ll just end up looking weak in front of all the other gods like last time.”

It wasn’t as if Hiname talked to him that much differently, but Nagi figured that pointing that out to her would only escalate matters. Having grown used to his regalia's habits, Nagi chalked Hiname-chan’s current irritability to her tiredness. Much like Kaname-kun. So he tried for a consolidating tone instead. “Yes, yes. You’re completely right, Hiname-chan. I’ll work on that. So let’s just follow Kaname-kun’s example and go—,”

This time it was Hiname’s pillow that struck Nagi’s face.

“Soooo not following his example,” Sticking her tongue out petulantly, Hiname turned away arms folded across her chest.

Refusing to sleep, apparently.

Sachi
Alley near Yuu's House

“Eeeeh? But you don’t want to look for the ring. I don’t want to look for the ring. So then, why are we looking for the human’s ring?” Sachi complained.

However, it was an order from her goddess, so she didn’t disobey. Picking up a stick on the ground, the regalia approached the alley she and Yuu had been searching at the day before. The corpse was still there. However, Sachi ignored it since a death god’s regalia shouldn’t be mindful of something like that.

Tipping the garbage can over, Sachi prodded through the trash for the human’s ring. Maybe it was because of the sky was clear. Maybe because she hadn’t been distracted with worry for Yuu’s health. However, Sachi found the ring fairly quickly. It certainly stood out from all the rubbish on the ground. Hooking the ring up with the stick, Sachi made her way to the Death god reading the scroll.

“Here it is~ Six-month’s worth of salary~”

Sachi knew because she’d been with Yuu when he bought the ring for his wife.

“He’s an idiot for throwing something so expensive away,” Pointing the sticking towards Azani, Sachi offered Yuu’s ring. “You should keep it, Azani. Finders keepers right~? You could probably pawn it off for a lot of cash as well.”

She remembered seeing Azani steal money from the corpse. It was easy enough to conclude the death goddess was either poor or greedy—none of which mattered to Sachi. Azani was the goddess she currently served. And while the name ‘Sachi’ was still on the back of her hand, she had no intention of relinquishing her place. She couldn't keep the ring because she might blight Azani. However, gods shouldn't have that problem. They could do whatever they wanted.

Still holding out the stick, Sachi leaned a bit closer to Azani to read the scroll. “Oooh, a party of gods. Sounds positively dull~Do you plan on going?”

Sachi half expected Azani to say no. After all, the description of the event-- from what she’d read--almost sounded like a human wedding. And death gods didn’t do love. Wait. Sachi tilted her head. Did gods even marry? That was news to her.

Azani
Inside Yuu's house, bedroom

Yep she had screwed up Azani was sure about that now that she heard how Sachi was talking about things and in truth she was slightly insulted by the idea of pawning the ring she might steal from the dead but honestly that was rare she normally only took her fee on 200 yen and nothing more. She might do things like having some food or sleeping in the house, but she normally left things alone unless they annoyed her like that guy had. in truth Aznai did tire of only bringing death or holding ti off she did want to be a positive god, as any god might want to she wanted worshipers and who int heir right mind would worship her. Azani rolled up the scroll and let out a sigh.

" You saw me take from that last guy he was a special case as well because of him i fell off a building it is not fun" She explained " I do not have much money that is true but i have personal honor about what i do and rarely will i take more than my fee the same goes for the ring, it is not finders keepers it is owned by a living man and it holds more value than money to him" She continued.

Azani would have to find the right way to raise a shinki when in truth she was still figuring things out herself, she did need help an older spirit to help explain what was needed better than she could. A god was always just but not always right they needed their regalia to tell them when they were wrong or at least extremely wrong as the morality of gods was not black and white. Still she didn't know how to say this, how to make it easy to explain she didn't want Sachi to become unfeeling and uncaring she just had wanted her to stop making requests and understand not to compare her to other gods and Azani knew she would never measure up.

" I am.. still young... your are the first shinki that has not or is not serving other masters so i don't really know how to explain it all." She said not really enjoying this admission and inadvertently admitting her other regalia was a nora " You can speak up and still be well like you were just try to be a bit more somber and don't compare me to other gods, we are very different" She said trying again to explain what she wanted " And yes I am going haven has seen fit to invite me to it for the first time, i might as well see what it is like"

Hasuna's Shrine

The jitters were slowly leaving her fingers as the nicotine worked its magic, calming her nerves and killing her lungs at the same time. Well, it was probably killing her lungs. She didn't actually know if the tabaco was actually doing anything to her or not, since 'mortal' objects couldn't hurt her anymore and all. Still it didn't hurt to be cautious, which was why this was only the third one she'd smoked since she found the pack nearly a month ago. Plus she was pretty sure she wasn't actually old enough to have cigaretes.

The embers had almost burned down to the white line when she heard the shōji door behind her slide open and she tipped her head back to see who it was. The kid from before asked if her walk was 'restoritive' and she didn't bother answering, not feeling like explaining herself, though he didn't seem to notice. He invited her inside, an invitation Kokoro was going to decline untill he mentioned that Hasuna was going to make ramen. "A goddess cooking? I'll believe that when I see it." Intrigued, she flicked the burned out butt away, smothering it under her foot and finding a trashcan to discard it in, before following a little behind Boujouza.

She stepped inside just in time to hear him anounce what she was doing. "Wow. Thanks for airing out my dirty laundry, punk." She grumbled, giving the kid's forehead a hard flick. It wasn't that she was ashamed of it, or that she thought she was doing anything particularly wrong, just that it wasn't something she wanted everyone to know. Peeling her coat off she found somewhere to hang it, pulling something out of one of its pockets, before taking a seat at the table. " Hey Kimi, I think this is yours..." She said, placing a small ball of fluff on the table; the spirit they rescued earlier.

Udeya
A Rooftop In Kyoto, Japan
One second he was listening to her, and the next his head snapped to the side, his cheek stinging. He touched the spot, surprise written all over his expression. Even though he could see the pain in her eyes, Ude never expected the nora to hit him.

He stared away from her instead of answering. He felt guilty for telling her he didn't remember her. He was obviously important to her, but he couldn't return the feeling. It would have been easier to lie.

Inbu moved to stand between him and the nora—Hagaka, "Look, I don't know what's going on, but Ude didn't deserve that. I don't know what you think he did, but I'm not going to let you hit him again."

"In-"

"If I'm being rude, she earned it," Inbu said, crossing his arms.

Ude wanted to ask him if he couldn't see how upset she was, but he knew he could. The difference was that Inbu didn't feel guilty. All that mattered to his regalia was that she hit him and that was that. He looked at the name she showed him for a few seconds before he shook his head. Any lie he told her would've fallen apart the second she realized he didn't know her name.

"I don't remember you," he said. "I wish I did."

For a long time, Ude wanted to think that his lack of memories before Saki and Daichi was because of amnesia, or something that happened to him when he was little. Reincarnation was harder to believe. Gods reincarnated, not humans.

But Hagaka didn't say he left her, or she lost him. She said he died.

Kaname
Kyoto, Matsubaya Inn

Last time?

No, nope, it was too early for questions. Kana doubted any answer would be long enough to satiate his curiosity, but under thirty seconds. He would ask later, when dry paint was in the shower or something. If she hadn't taken one already.

Kana rolled over, glancing over the cards spread out between them.
"That's some great planning you've got going there," he deadpanned. "Did you write instructions for me on the back of one of those cards or what?"

Kana rolled back over, his back facing to them. Since dry paint so generously gave the pillow back to him, he decided to use both of them. One under his head and one over it. "That's great and all, but can you go not follow my example out in the hallway? You can be as loud as you want out there." he waved her away without looking.

Hasuna laughed at the sight of Boujouza dumbfounded after Koko flicked him, it was so cute how he had no idea what he did wrong or what laundry he aired. Well it's no big deal if you smoke, as it does not have any effect on your body. When Koko pulled out the spirit though, she was surprised, almost dropping the pot. Oh dear, I hope you dont expect me to name it. I'm strained with just you five.

Ame

Rooftop(Kyoto)

The girl stood silent letting her shirt go to hide the now dimming sign of their contract to one another as Inbu stepped in between them and Udeya reiterated that he did not remember her even though he wish he did...
Her gaze was on her hand now red as the stinging sensation burned through it.
Her free hand grasping her wrist as she brought her hands to her chest. She had struck him....had hurt him even though she knew it could not have been his fault.
If anyone was to blame for what had transpired it was her.
She should have taught him more...been there to protect him as she promised.
Udeya was not Susanoo.
He didn't leave her behind for an unknown reason or on a whim or out of boredom...he had perished and was reborn as was the life cycle of a kami.
The nora clenched her hands into fists tightening around her exposed shirt from the tattered hoodie she had been wearing.
All of their memories of him and her...Aika...Touka and Ginka. Their travels throughout europe and japan, the countless moments of creativity and inspiration they had passed onto budding inventors and artists...their lives...were lost.

Ame closed her eyes at the images and wondered what that had meant for the other regalia he had left behind in the wake of his resurrection. She would leave the past be for now however as she had already burdened him enough with her own turmoil. That much was evident by his inability to face her and his honesty...why was he always so damn honest. It was her favorite quality about him. He could have lied and probably thought of doing so but he never could not then...and it seems that piece of him stayed intact even now...
The nora did not want the silence to continue between them and eventually spoke up.
"He is right..."
She admittedly agreed with Inbu about deserving his reaction and words.
"I had no right...regardless of how you asked me to be with you. Whether you know me or not...i am your regalia first and i took it to far...i apologize Udeya and to you Lady Shizuya"
She conceded although the swelling of tears was still evident as she tried to choke out the apology.
She felt horrible for hurting him and for allowing her emotions to hold sway over her actions even if he had asked her to be herself with him wholly.
Ame cleared her throat as if to clear the tension and fight back the bile that was rising within her at the true despair she was feeling at having lost him.

"I won't...fail you again, I will promise to protect you as long as i am able....all you have to do...."
She stopped mid sentence unable to reaffirm her promise as a slight gust of wind blew past them on the rooftops.
Could she promise him again?
Could she ask him to always remember her once more?
Could she get Ude back...the one she had grown to care for....
Ame's voice stilled once more unable to finish the renewal of the contract as her eyes floated from Inbu's loyalty to Udeya's confusion and finally resting on her own feet.
"Could i ask one favor....Just to prove what i am saying is true..can you...call my name..if only one last time."

Shizuya

Shizuya watched as the Regalia that she assumed belonged to the God she had very briefly spoken with came up there their rooftop. "You're free to intrude whenever you like, especially in matters that concern your Kami." She stated. After a brief examination, it became clear to her that she was a stray. She turned her head back towards Yuuken, waiting for his reply. However her attention was drawn by the Nora's tearful exclamation. Shizuya turned her head towards them and was shocked to find the Nora slapping her own Kami. She had heard the gist of the conversation. She definitely felt the regalia was out of line. Her eyes were hard as she watched her. Actions like that could cause gods to be blighted, not to mention it was just straight up disrespectful.
But as she watched the girl, she couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She had lost a god she truly cared for. As she apologized, Shizuya found her expression softening. The poor girl.
"It's alright dear." She said softly. "Anger is a part of grief." Shizuya wanted to apologize, as it seemed that Fate had not been kind to the Nora. But she didn't. Instead she watched their exchange, trying not to speak much. It was such a private moment.

Kimi
Hasuna's shrine
Well, Bou certainly did like to talk, and clearly didn't know when to stop. Kimi laughed along at the confused guy. For someone who looked mature, he sure was pretty dense. She dropped the cupcake in her hand when she saw the little black ball. Luckily it just fell on top of the counter, leaving crumbs and frosting all over. She went round the island and picked it up in her chocolate covered hands. "To be honest, I've completely forgotten about the little guy. And we BOTH rescued it. So it's not mine. If anything, it's our responsibility now." She told Kokoro.

Kimi faced towards Hasuna as she spoke, a brow raised as she didn't really understood what she just said. "Erm.. I don't really get it. But then, what can we do for it? We can't just leave it on the street again."

Yuuken
Kyoto Rooftops

A wedding? He had no idea that gods got married. His face scrunched up and shook his head a bit. "Gods get married, who would have thought." he hummed. He perked right up when she mentioned food. Food was good, he could go for some right now. He got to pick too! He thought on this, he never really ate in the outer shore that much. He had heard of places like WcDonalds and Burger Queen, but he heard they were really gross. He could probably cook better than that. He chuckled to himself at that. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice the nora arrive on the rooftop.

Only when the sound of tears and a loud smack that vibrated through the area, did it get his attention. His eye sight became clearer and he just stared at Ame. The red marks on both his face and her hand made it clear. She was claiming to be his regalia but he didn't remember her. That stirred a little fear in him, what if Shizuya died and didn't remember him? He quickly pushed that away and steeled his nerves. He placed his hand on the stony and rough tiled roof and pushed himself up. On his feet now he assessed the situation. There were no phantoms in sight and he was grateful for that, but the scene on the roof was even more threatening than a phantom. The tension and sorrow was so thick he could cut it through with a blade.

It was suffocating and he turned to his mistress. "We should give them their privacy, maybe?" he was unsure himself. It was almost like they were roped into this too by just being there. How annoying, this was there problem and not his. He actually did feel, deep down, a little pity for the nora. He would be sorrowful if he lost his Kami.

Hasuna
Anime Person.jpg
Kyoto, Hasuna's Shrine

Hasuna tried to get used to having such new regalia. Oh that's right, you don't know. You see when a God takes on a regalia they also take on responsibility for that regalias emotions. It creates a sort of empathy link that transmits all of your strong emotions to me. So when you are feeling very angry or sad or afraid I feel it in the form of pain. This is one way I can be blighted. When your heart is troubled so is mine. Also when you do things that you know is wrong it stings me. And the more Regalia that you take on, the more burdensome it becomes to bear. Then taking time to think and saying I suppose that we could release it in heaven. There are plenty of gods there and no phantoms so it has a good chance of being taken on. After she said that, a colorful hummingbird came in through the window and taking a closer look Hasuna realized it was a messenger from heaven. I haven't seen one of these in a while. Look, everyone, it's a heavenly messenger, I wonder what it has to say. However instead of singing out the message when it landed on her finger like she expected, it dissolved into a fancy scroll. It looked like an invitation of some sort. It's a wedding invitation, and we are definitely going. What size dresses do you wear?

Udeya
A Rooftop In Kyoto, Japan
"Glad to see that you admit that," Inbu said, moving out of the way. He crouched next to the dove at Ude's feet. "I'll let it go, just..." he trailed off when he heard her promise to him, shaking his head. "I'm Inbu, by the way." He offered the bird his hand, pausing when it turned into a scroll leaning against his fingers.

"You didn't have to apologize," Ude's cheek still hurt, but he understood why she did it. He couldn't know how she felt, but he knew that people reacted to pain differently. She didn't intend to hurt him, and just looking at her told him that she already regretted it.

Her body language was enough of an apology for him. "You were only expressing the pain you feel," he paused, waiting for Inbu to tell him that he was wrong, but the retort didn't come. Ude glanced down and saw that Inbu was sitting cross-legged, completely focused on the scroll in his lap.

Ude turned as Shizuya spoke. She helped him out, and he still ignored her while he and Hagaka talked. Did she see that as disrespectful? He frowned. "Sorry about this," he said to her. "It doesn't look like I'll be able to make this up to you, after all," her regalia—Yuuken?—looked exhausted, and he wasn't sure how one god made something up to another god. Would going out to eat be enough? Or did gods expect something bigger? "Instead, you can call on me if you ever need a favor." At least that way she could tell him what he was supposed to do.

He gave Hagaka his attention as she spoke again, but it wasn't until Ude heard what she wanted him to do that he hesitated. "I already believe you," he said, though he knew that wasn't the only reason why she wanted him to do it.

If he did so, Hagaka would belong to him now, instead of to his past self. He didn't want another regalia. Inbu might have been an accident, but at least Ude named him himself. With Hagaka, she had known a version of him he didn't think he could live up to. Still, by saying no, he would only hurt her more. And that was the last thing he wanted to do.

"I will, but only once," he held out his hand, expecting her to turn into something he could catch. "Come, Saki."

Sachi
Alley near Yuu's House

Wordlessly, Sachi took in all the information Azani provided about what she wanted in a regalia. About her honor. About how Sachi was her first real regalia, not counting Noras. She didn’t speak. Not even when Azani finished. Sachi simply stared at the goddess that named her as if trying to figure out a large puzzle.

Then she burst out laughing. “Ahahaha! I’ll admit, Azani, you’re the first god I’ve met who wants their regalia to be a bit more sad~” Wiping a tear, Sachi flicked her wrist, carelessly flinging the ring Yuu treasured away. She had no intention of keeping the object since there was a chance she might blight Azani by doing so. And since Azani didn’t want it, there was little use in holding onto it. It was the human’s own fault that they lost it. Azani wasn’t the god of finding things or fortune. Death gods didn’t help humans. That was what Azani had said. It was clear that Azani was looking for acceptance of who she was and what she was meant for.

Therefore, Sachi had to change. Certain morals and feelings had to be locked away if she were to accept the death god that Azani described.

“Even if you say you’re not like the other gods, you still follow the same basics as one. I’ll sting you if I feel sadness or guilt over death. Is that what you want~?”

Tossing her hair, Sachi clasped her hands behind her back as she leaned forward, studying Azani. “You’re pretty contradictory, you know. You tell me not to make requests, yet you want me to speak up. Be like I was? Which was? The good girl I was for Jizo? The me that loved a human? Jizo taught me that stealing was wrong. You’re saying it’s okay in ‘special cases’. You tell me not to get involved with humans, yet now you’re saying you care about what a mere human values? Gods are all different. All have their own rules and morals they live by. I was Jizo Bosatsu's favorite because even when all the other young regalias cried and whined, I didn’t. I was his perfect little angel. That’s how I’ve always worked.”

Azani didn’t know who she was. Not even Sachi knew the answer to that one.

The reglia, renamed Sachi, smiled and curtsied. “I apologize if I slighted your honor, Azani. It’s true I don’t know what your values are, but as your new regalia, I have every intention of watching and learning. Whether you use a Nora, take a life, or steal from the dead, I’ll be by your side until you discard my name.”

Nagi
Kyoto, Matsubaya Inn

Hugging Hiname’s pillow--the one she’d thrown at him--Nagi watched as the brown-haired girl swiftly rounded to face Kaname, her face turning an interesting shade of red. At this point, Nagi concluded that any words he added would only add fuel to the indignant flames so he remained silent. His general rule was not to get in between regalia arguments anyway…since he hated picking sides.

“You’re incorrigible!”

The best retort she could muster apparently. Hiname got to her feet. However, instead of marching towards the hallway, like Kaname suggested, Hiname went the opposite direction towards the opened window and climbed onto the sill, her body crouched. She addressed Nagi.

“I can’t sleep.” Probably because irritation was re-energizing her. The sunlight as well. “So I’m going to do something useful and find a place to practice my borderlines. I’ll be back before 3 pm.”

And, just like that, Hiname jumped onto one of the roofs and left the inn.

Nagi sighed, but didn’t go after her. At least she told him when she’d be back. He wasn’t the type of god that kept his regalias on a leash…since the Travel God couldn’t imagine anything worse than being bound to one place. Nagi trusted that Hiname could take care of herself. The storm was over and phantoms, the dangerous ones at least, generally didn’t come out during the day. Besides, if necessary, the wind spirits would warn him if something happened.

Still.

It had been a while since he’d seen that side of Hiname. Nagi didn’t like to argue, and usually went along with her, so he and his Anti-Blight charm rarely fought. It was somewhat cute how easily flustered she got.

Gathering all the spread out cards back into a deck, Nagi returned the deck to his rucksack, and crawled into his futon with Hiname’s pillow.

“Rest well, Kaname-kun,” Nagi closed his eyes. “Next time we should all play together.”

Kimi
Hasuna's Shrine
"Oh." Was all Kimi said at the new information. She still has questions about how that all works, like what kind of weird energy is at play here, and why do gods need to feel the emotions of spirits. Was it some kind of warped method to keep an eye on them like a GPS? She brushed it off, thinking about how it all works was getting more and more complicated in her head. "If that works that'd be great!" She perked up, hearing good news for the tiny ball. But she didn't want to leave the final decision to her, so she turned to her friend and asked,
"What do you think, Kokoro?"

Her attention wondered to the small fluttering bird with bright, almost reflective feathers. 'A heavenly messenger?' Is heaven not technology inclined like the near shore? Her eyes widened in shock as it literally melted into a scroll of some sort. "What the fu--!" Kimi was still pretty shaken up by the melting bird, while Hasuna just seemed like it happened everyday as she nonchalantly announced what it was. "I can't be the only one creeped out by that!" She looked towards the other 2 regalias in the kitchen for some support. "And dresses? Pfft. You won't catch me alive wearing those. Well..." She shrugged her shoulders, back tracking what she just said. "I'm not wearing a dress."
