A GATHERING STORM

Hector nodded along as Catherine shared more about the blind man. It all seemed out of place for the docks, which meant he was the perfect target for investigation. Some of the stress left his body as Hector relaxed a bit, but he still leaned forward, listening eagerly.

"So he's some rich guy wannabe who makes animals go all crazy? And he's blind? What's he get up to?"

He heard a faint hum. His phone vibrated in his pocket. That could only mean a few things: His King is messaging him, his Queen is messaging him, or his Jack is messaging him. He had muted everyone else until today's business was settled. Last he'd heard about the Queen was that she was roughhousing with some folks down by the bridge. His Jack was busy and had far easier methods of contact anyway. That left Lyric. Oh dear. The last message had been a deadline, the next message could be anything.
He hmmed in acknowledgement of Noland as he re-entered the conversation, but wasn't paying attention as he slipped his phone out to read the first text.

“Swarm of black butterflies heading west. Somethings happen. More information soon. KEEP AN EYE OUT.”

Speak of the devil. Keeping an eye out was Hector's speciality. Whenever he wasn't in action, he was watching everything. That's what he was doing right now. If some butterflies flew their way, Hector was sure he'd spot it. He scanned the sky for any signs of the swarm Lyric referred to. He saw a few small black figures floating in the distance, but they could've been blackbirds, or part of a trashbag caught in the wind. He could do with a new pair of glasses. Hector didn't have much time to examine them before they fluttered out of sight, and he brought his attention back to the conversation.

"So these animals, do they ever do anything? They just look scary or... could they be a proper threat?"

Unbeknownst to him, one of his comrades had found a 'proper threat' already. A few moments later, his phone buzzed in his hand.
"And is there anything else you-" His eyes instinctively dropped down to look at his phone when the screen flashed, another message? He intended to glance at it before continuing, but he couldn't take his eyes off the screen.

“Quetzal is dead.”

No, she fucking isn't, she was just with them. How could a Phoenix die on a mission with both Ace and Jack? His hands shook with a mix of shock and pure fury as he tried to type a message in reply.

"where did-" backspace. "where is sh-" backspace "what happe-" backspace backspace backspace. He fumbled with the keyboard, trying to write a coherent message but he had far too much going on in his head. It wasn't like Phoenix's dying were a new concept, he'd heard about plenty, he'd seen a few as well. But today, right now? Any cool Hector had accumulated from the success of their investigation had disappeared.

"Location" was the text he decided on, sending it to Lyric before gripping the phone until his hand hurt. He wanted to throw it on the ground and watch the pieces shatter, and then set the remains on fire. He looked at Akane, tapping her arm roughly to get her attention. He pointed down to his phone, signalling her to look at her own. A razor-sharp edge grew out of his nail. Though unknown if he was creating it on purpose, he ignored it while he shoved his phone in his pocket.

"Forget the" Hector swallowed the lump in his throat, "Forget the other questions."
He clenched his fists. If one didn't have any context, they'd think he was getting ready to fight Catherine as he stood up straight, looking her in the eye. "When did you last see this man? Where did you last see this man? Tell me right now and then we're done here."
If this man wasn't related to what was going on, Hector had nothing. But if he was, then Quetzal's blood wouldn't be the only blood spilt in New Oasis tonight.

Kasumi Katsura - Azure Dragons - Veteran [CS LINK]
Scene - Dragons Arc 1 | Scene 3: Eye of Providence
Location - Surveillance Room, Dragon HQ, East District
Mentions/Interactions - Yo Saiwa ( Taigakitt Taigakitt ), Jesper Albrecht ( AriAriAbabwa AriAriAbabwa ), Kaneko Kazue ( azenva azenva )

Kasumi continued to watch through the drone's camera, before Jesper reassumed control over Guardian's network. She rapidly blinked for a moment, looking over to Yo as she asked about the source of the attack.

"It was from a laptop, at an internet cafe in the Pleasure District. From what I noticed, it was programmed to run code indefinitely on its own. Whoever put it there would've been long gone, considering how long the program was running."

Her eyes looked back towards the screens in the surveillance room. To think that this would happen.

The day had started off calmly. Though, had the attack not happen, Kasumi would've thought that the Dragon's network was secure. She made a mental note that once all this chaos was quelled, she would make resecuring the network her next project, and a top priority. Kasumi also noted to ask Jesper to help.

Her attention shifted as a new person arrived in to the room. It took Kasumi a moment to register who they were, but she recognized Kazue Kaneko. The two hadn't interacted much, but that was mainly due to how little Kasumi frequented the HQ, or went out. She gave Kazue a nod of acknowledgement, looking over to Yo as she addressed Kazue. Kasumi then noticed that Yo had put on her gloves. She watched as the Queen texted someone else, then headed for the door. When Yo told Kasumi to come as well, she quickly got up from her seat. She picked up her backpack that was resting on the side of the desk with her, carrying her essential items.

"Yes ma'am, right behind you."

As Kasumi began heading out, she quickly looked back at Jesper, who's body was still in the chair and limp.

He should be fine....the HQ is well secured...

Her gaze lingered as much as possible before Kasumi left the room to catch up with the others. She remained silent, mainly out of nervousness. Kasumi rarely went out on field assignments for the gang. Her role usually involved staying back and supporting those that went out from behind her computer screen.

Kasumi's eyes squinted slightly as her eyes adjusted to the natural light of the outside, or the lack of.

Then came the bang. A really loud one.

Gunshots..?!

She looked towards the general direction where the sound came from. For a split second, she noticed a glint in the air, moving fast towards them. A bullet. Or to be precise, multiple bullets. In the moment, Kasumi did the first thing that came to mind....but no thought manifested.

Kasumi froze up, staring at their possible death.

AUGUST

TAZMANIAN DEVIL
"TAZZ"

<<< Remember

From one question to another and neither one answered, August looks to the supposed Boss of the establishment and shrugs aloof.

The man is unamused, still holding whatever ground he thinks he has given the current predicament.

"Open a window am I right buddy?" says Dante, nudging August's arm, which brings a genuinely amused snicker bubbling out of him as he looks around at the shattered building. But then the sewer's stench reaches him and his laugh is quickly choked back. Even beneath his mask, it is a powerful harassment--one that threatens his composure.

Suppressing a gag, August fumbles with his backpack. Reaching in, he pulls out a stick of deodorant and, without hesitation, applies it to the outside of his mask. Immediately, the toxic miasma of the sewers is conquered by the more pleasant fragrance of cherries and almonds--his favorite. Thankfully, the product is a transparent gel rather than the pasty white kind that would otherwise paint the mask.

Considering he always carries an extra, August looks to Dante with an offer whilst pulling out another mask--white with a pink nose and kitty whiskers on the front. He holds them out to Dante, saying, "No offense if ya not intrested. I've got spray, too, if you'd rathah that."

Meanwhile, off to the side, Reina questions Lucy, "You want me to hunt those two down?" she starts, continuing on to suggest that she go alone, and August inwardly sobs, hoping Lucy doesn't decide to send someone with her. In the case that she does, he begs the odds that it isn't him. He would much prefer to sit back and watch things unfold here... where he's not all that needed.

While waiting for Dante to accept or decline the offer of a scented mask, the shaggy-haired Boss of the place starts smashing chairs, and August turns slowly to look at him, watching just long enough to mumble a quick, "Uh, okay...?" before returning his attention to the orcish lad beside him. "Works wondahs, mate, I'm serious." He gives the items a wiggle.

Auvura Min

Phoenixes- Training Day (She's on the way. Setting up for Darren to call her.)
Nobody Special Nobody Special Taigakitt Taigakitt The Prophet The Prophet Rantos Rantos

The sounds of cars flying by filled the air as Auvura walked along the sidewalk, her head rocking from side to side as she weaved between people and hummed along with the music playing in her ears. Quick and light on her feet she darted between everyone and was making a rather quick pace through the main roads. Down, in the distance, she could see the restaurant she was looking for, and her home just down the road from it. Coming off of the road she entered a large pedestrian area and immediately was greeted with the cawing of birds. Looking around she saw a large grouping of crows watching her intently as she made her way through the square.

Kicking off from the surrounding roofs the swarm of birds descended on her the second she was away from the larger grouping of people. Grouping around her they all watched her intently as if waiting for her to make a move. As always the tension was palpable and even some people around her picked up on the scene. The silence was intense but was suddenly broken by a “Hi.” coming from the mass of birds. “Hi.” another went before she was suddenly hounded by fifty crows all saying hi to her at once.

Rubbing the back of her head she stared at the mass of birds and thought about what to do. They finally stopped after a few moments and like a mass of black earth moving along the ground followed Auvura to her front door. “Up.” she said and pointed. Many of the birds looked up and mimicked her speech “UP” several responded before the mass followed the first of the few up to the top of the building.

Getting in the elevator she rode it to the top and stepped out directly into her home. Taking off her earbuds she went out to the mass of birds. Opening the door to a large platform on the top of the building she began to fill specific bird feeders. Many of the murder she didn’t know went immediately to the feeders but the other half gathered around her. “Hi.” several said watching her before cawing. “Snack.” one piped up “Food.” another cawed out. Rolling her eyes she knew why they were here but she was pleased to see like the others that this grouping was moving along well.

Feeling her phone vibrate she took it out and let out a sigh. Immediately like a nagging sibling, a bird picked up on it “Upset.” it piped up before another caught on “Angry.”. Like a slowly waking monster the other birds realized what was going on and began to make a ruckus. “HEY!” she shouted. The birds simmered down and she was able to finish reading it while also hearing her own thoughts. The second she put her phone in her pocket one of the birds started up again. After some time she managed to feed them all but had to quickly head back out the door, it seems she was being called upon.

MARKUS WEISS (feat. Isobel Pham)
SCENE:
Tigers Arc 1: Scene 3 [The High Life]
LOCATION:
Albino Tiger Penthouse Suite, West District
PARTICIPANTS:
Isobel
THE HIGH LIFE
Markus met Isobel's gaze dead on. Whether he could read her 'tude in the cavalier shrug of the shoulders or not was anybody's guess. Maybe he could, and he just didn't care.

Straight to business, Markus thought with a cold smirk.

“I need ya to find somethin'. Somethin' he's got.” Markus said without fanfair as he tapped the glass of his phone's screen to reawaken the zoomed-in, pixelated image of one Titus Latken. An image that had, in actuality, only been taken a handful of minutes ago.

Straight to business, then...

... Isobel wasn’t surprised. It was always something with Markus. He had a hunger for anything and everything that she had come to realise would never be sated. She stared at the image on his phone and could just make out the panic and worry hidden behind Latken’s eyes. Quite a difference from the smug grin he had in the photo she kept filed in a folder locked in her desk back at her apartment.

She cocked her head, an invitation for the king to elaborate more on this something...

... Markus heard the question in the gesture. He'd been anticipating it, really.

“I'll know it when I see it.” Markus spoke the lie so convincingly he almost believed it himself. This would work, he told himself. It had to. The plan just needed some fine-tuning, that's all. Hence this meeting.

“I want it done. Tonight.” He asked of her the impossible so casually, so matter-of-factly. There was no room for debate...

... Isobel narrowed her eyes at him as she processed what Markus was asking of her. He was asking her to find… nothing? Or something in nothing rather. She was not a stranger to their king’s madness but this was a task that was seemingly impossible. No, not madness. Calculated. For all the air of nonchalance and impulsiveness the man projected, he had a wickedly sharp mind. After all, he hadn’t gotten to where he was on impulse alone.

Silently, she contemplated ways she might strangle the man before getting up from her seat and straightening her shoulders. If this was a game Markus wanted to play she was going to play. And she had every intention of winning...

... The corner of Markus' eyebrow twitched, his eyes following her as she rose from her seat... And there was the rub, he thought. Markus could see it in Isobel's eyes. She was willing, but willingness wasn't enough. Truth be told, Markus had half-remembered this little clause of her Potentiality before he'd called her in tonight, but time was of the essence. Of all people, Markus certainly didn't have the time—or the patience—for hang-ups.

“Sit yer ass back down.” He said with a bite, and shoved back in his chair, already accepting that this little maneuver with Isobel wasn't going to work the way he'd hoped... At least, not without a bit more leverage.

Resting his elbows on the arms of his chair, Markus steepled his index fingers under his nose and stared, albeit momentarily, off into space... Before snapping back to reality, this moment, this time. He leaned forward and snatched up his cellphone.

The following paragraph contains information for: Money Talks!

In the White Tiger Casino, a black-suited, bald-headed, sunglass-indoors-wearing meathead approached the party seated around Titus Latken's table, a cellphone pressed tight against his ear.

He stopped beside Charmy, looked at her for a moment from under those opaque, black lenses, then handed her the phone.

Assuming she pressed it to her ear, a voice cut crisp and clean like a blade across the encrypted line.

“Game's over. Bring me that fat bastard. Now.

Callahan Bordeau,
Tigers - Scene 3: The High Life.
Participants: Markus (Ele), Elias (Quirky), Wonder woman (Grieve), Yulia (Bandit), Isobel (Saturn)

The scene before Callahan was certainly a new one for him. All at once, as the fight had begun anew, he caught Elias falling to the floor below, from the balcony above. It was amusing, Callahan thought, though the grisly scene Elias had fallen into was enough to keep him from grinning.

“This ain’t normal, is it?” He tried asking as he approached. Turning to one fighting human, then another. To no avail, of course, and the HPs that had been caught in the frey were busy trying to escape or quell the brawl…

While he stood, pondering, watching the party continue to erupt around him, Callahan felt something strike him in the back. It was one of the humans’ best attempts to cripple him with a barstool, though they may as well have been striking one of the mansion’s marble supports, really. All it managed to do was get Callahan to turn around, with his eyebrows furled slightly.

“...Alright,” He said firmly, planting one hand onto the poor human’s shoulder as they tried to pull back for a second swing. Taking his ladder rung in his free hand, Callahan extended a few more, then planted the bottom against (and somewhat through) the floor under one foot. Continuing to raise it, and hoisting up the human with said shoulder. “You’ve had enough to drink already. That could’ve hurt someone.” And in the same breath, he stuffed her between the rungs. Sticking her so her arms were trapped at her sides, before he continued to throw the ladder higher. Putting her up out of harm’s way, and everyone else out of her reach.

In the same manner, Callahan started to grab and stick more brawling humans. Putting enough distance between them that they couldn’t kick at each other while they were stacked up to the ceiling. At which point, since he had run out of room to keep securing people, Callahan resorted to tucking one or two under his arms. All the while the brawl seemed to leave him unaffected. Blows came and passed, debris struck him, but nothing managed to so much as stagger his generously hefty frame as he glanced and looked about for anything or anyone that might know what to do with all his new hostages.

While he worked, too, Callahan noticed Elias standing within the fight. Eyes closed, and holding someone between his fingers. Seeing as his ladder was currently occupied, he worked his way across the warzone to him. Waiting till his eyes had opened to introduce himself with a small, warm smile, “Heya, bud. You’re part of the crew, right? Name’s Callahan!” And, with some adjusting, managed to clutch one of his victims between his elbow and torso, freeing his hand to extend it, open, in Elias’s direction.

CHARMY DEVLIN
SCENE:
Tigers Arc 1: Scene 2 [Money Talks]
LOCATION:
The White Tiger Casino, West District
PARTICIPANTS:
Alice, Cassidy, Ezra
MONEY TALKS
The previously silent Charmy took a deep breath, and let her eyes flutter open. She carefully examined the newly arrived woman, and the state of the table in front. Some of the remaining stacks of chips still present on the table toppled over, but nothing more readily apparent seemed to occur. She took several more moments looking from place to place.

They couldn’t just let Titus leave. Sure they could use the Rookie as a scapegoat for the operations failure, but with three veteran members present it was hardly an excuse. Charmy was off her game. She wasn’t sure what move to make. Was there something that could bring Mr. Latken back? She needed to think. Was there anything he seemed to show interest in?

Charmy’s eyes narrowed on Alice, before promptly closing.

However, just before she could open her mouth she was approached by a conspicuous bald-headed man. One of the bosses’ lackeys no doubt. She accepted the offered phone, but instead of placing it to her ear as one might expect, she held it just short. With a dry expression she tenderly put the device on speaker.

“Game's over. Bring me that fat bastard. Now.”

Click.

Charmy shrugged, and then crumpled the object in her hands. Letting the mechanical scraps hit the floor. She craned her neck to one side to think, and then abruptly her iridescent green eyes snapped open once more. This time they didn’t dawdle. They remained tightly locked onto the woman accompanying Titus. Piercing, unwavering, and frankly quite upset.

“Well, that’s that.” She took two steps forward. “Seems like the boss wants you for one final game. If you’re already acquainted then I’m sure you’re more than aware your earnings are the least of your concern right now.” She blinked a few times over, wide eyed. “Now that sounded a bit too harsh… Regardless, I’m sure Cassidy here will be more than happy to show you the way.”

With her eyes open, it was like her entire posture changed. The loose somewhat dragged movements had halted almost entirely to allow for a much more still and precise form. Her hands held one another while one leg extended out to provide balance. Suddenly she seemed far less care-free and defenseless. Instead poised and ready, not to strike, but rather to quiet any who might make light of her words.

“If you’d like to accompany him, that can be arranged too.” She declared to the woman.

Her usual agreeable tone had all but vanished. The game was indeed over.

TIGER'S
SCENE:
Tigers Arc 1: Scene 2 [Money Talks]
LOCATION:
The White Tiger Casino, West District
MONEY TALKS
Titus’ eyes flicked from Charmy to the dark-haired chauffeur, evidently weighing the options in his mind… As though he were trying to correctly choose the lesser of two evils. His eyes lingered on Charmy as she spoke. A flash of recognition reflected in his wet, beady eyes at the mention of this ‘boss’. The fat man was frightened… Though whether he feared more a meeting with this ‘boss’, or whatever fate awaited him should he accompany the young woman to the car that waited below, was not immediately clear.

Eventually the portly business mogul made up his mind.

"A-ah, well..!”

Titus began, still evidently sticking to his feeble attempts at nonchalance—by now, anyone with eyes could tell he was bluffing—as he inched somewhat subtly toward Charmy.

"Wouldn’t dream of refusing a royal invitation, hm? Gyuhuhu!”

Titus had made his choice. Apparently he’d rather delve deeper into the Tiger’s Den than hazard whatever unknown future awaited him with this peculiar woman… Who Titus seemed to know more about than he probably should’ve, more than a man of his status would know about a simple chauffeur, at least.

The chauffeur smiled politely at Charmy’s invitation to join them, though her intentions were soon made abundantly clear: Titus would either be coming with her, or staying put… Forever.

In one fluid movement, the dark woman produced a wicked, curved knife from the fold of her sleeve before opening up a bright red swath across Titus’ bulbous neck. Instant death… At least, it would’ve been. It should’ve been. And yet… By some stroke of luck, Titus’ head remained attached to his body... No matter. Even if he was still alive, the wound he'd been dealt would prove fatal in time. Shock was evident on the NP's face. He opened his mouth to speak, but could produce naught more than a croaked, bubbling gurgle, before he collapsed in a heap beside the gambling table, his blood slowly seeping from the wound. His eyes were wide and bulging, as shock quickly turned to mortal terror...

Not one to leave a job unfinished, the dark-haired assassin lunged for the fallen man once again. This time she intended not to miss.

... Meanwhile, from out of a nondescript spot on the wall in the far corner of the room emerged two men, as though the wall were less solid than it appeared, their silhouettes leaving ripples in the shear wall face in their wake. The men wore black suits and a pair of tragicomic masks concealed their faces. They were also wielding a rifle each.

Just as the upper echelon—a crop of the Tigers' wealthiest gambling addicts—took note of the dark-haired chauffeur and her bloodied knife, as well as the sight of Titus Latken bleeding out on the floor, the two men from the wall opened fire.

Phoenixes Arc 1: Scene 1 [From the Ashes]
LOCATION:
Phoenix HQ, South District
PARTICIPANTS:
Lyric, Yong-Yut, Ziz, Bernardo
FROM THE ASHES
It was fortunate that to save himself from further embarassment, a helping hand had reached out to him, Charlie's eyes tracked the figure behind it, a large man of imposing frame. Charlie knew a bit about this man despite never having met him previously, Fixer was known for his mechanic skills as well as his contacts, in fact the very same trucks that were stationed nearby were most likely his doing. Charlie grabbed his hand and got himself back on his feet, listening to Fixer's cordial words.

“I guess you're right, seems like i just got a little careless” The boy giggled slightly as he grabbed the piece's end opposite to Fixer's, and together chucked it right into one of the trucks. He honestly could've been able to do it by himself, but such generosity from the tall man's side would've been extremely rude to reject. Lyric approached them eventually for a bit of casual talk , or perhaps Coalescence, truth is Charlie was not quite sure how to address his King, perhaps it was a bit too disrespectful of him to call her by her real name just like that, even if she apparently didn't mind either way.

Unfortunately, as if fate did not allow the phoenixes to go for even a short time without a tragedy, a dark trail could be seen from the sky. Birds? no, these were far too small and numerous, indeed it was a swarm of black butterflies, seemingly carrying something on them. The King was quick to jump into action by rushing at the butterflies' direction. Clearly such an unnatural sight did not spell good news, so Charlie was quick to follow suit with Lyrics command.

The chase of the black swarm was short-lived, as they soon spread and started flying away at random directions, as a result whatever they were carrying was now laying on the ground, or rather, whoever. Fellow phoenix Nina, or rather, her corpse, was what the butterfiels were carrying, her body still and lifeless and her neck sliced savagely.

Charlie gasped and covered his mouth with his hands, his eyes open wide in shock. Despite not being very familiar with the notorious winged lady, he knew that she was a phoenix, one of the gang, one of the family. A painful feeling started to arise from his chest as his breathing and heartbeat started to accelerate, he was starting to have a light panic attack.

"W-why... H-how..." Before he could utter another word, he was cut short by the outburst of another person nearby, a guy with fiery hair and a yellow tanktop. He started to talk to Lyric, so it was pretty safe to assume that he was also a fellow phoenix, shouting promises of revenge and complete domination of the city, both topics that were quite bitter to Charlie.

"You think... you think you know who could have done this specifically?"

Alice drew a lengthy yawn, resting her chin on the table. She actually grew... bored... All the older people discussed card game stuff and money and figures that she couldn't care less about. She came here to have fun! But Titus, the named special guest, refused even a tste of her concoctions. No tea party, no games she understood, nothing. Alice felt like a kid dragged along to one of their parent's shopping sprees, left to sit down while waiting for anything to happen.

Alice swung her legs around, having little else to do but wait while her grown up friends discussed whatever grown up people discussed about. "Titus, Titus... Tightey-whitey!" She giggled at her own joke.

Alice perked up at another woman's voice. She looked very serious and professional. The blonde girl gave a bright smile at her; it was always a pleasure to meet new people! Though Titus seemed eager to leave with the new woman. Did this mean there was no reason that Alice should have gone here? Could the Tigers have mistaken Titus as someone who wanted to experience Alice's own fantasies?

Likely not, seeing as Charmy earned a call and promptly ordered that their boss wished to see Titus. He chattered his teeth and sweated a lot, but he didn't refuse the offer. Alice frowned a little, now believing his wish for a tea party was nothing but a mistaken pipe dream.

Once he got up to move, so did Alice. She wanted to at least keep the fat man company! It was the least she could do, if not show him the wondrous things of her imagination! Alice practically nuzzled against his bouncing belly, giggling innocently. "Are you okay?" Alice looked up at him, raising a brow with slight concern. There shouldn't have been any reason he was frightened, right? Either way, she giggled. "You look super ner—"

Alice shut her mouth as a cup of warm fluid splashed over her entire being. She winced, feeling the liquid dribble and splash across her body. Alice couldn't help but pout. Did someone spill a drink on me...? Is it possible they tripped...? She finally opened her eyes, trying not to show her disgust of the warm drink staining the once bright clothing. It had a more metallic smell than any wine she knew of, strangely enough.

When someone gurgled on what Alice thought was water, however, she instinctively turned to where the overweight gambler once stood. "Mr. Titus?" she called out.

And he was there. In the same spot he stood at. He lied flat on the floor, spewing the same fluid that drenched Alice. Her mind turned blank, Her gaze went from the black-haired woman, lunging with a knife; to Titus' grubby hands, desperately trying to hold his head to his neck; to his petrified face, utterly fearing his life. In those few moments, Alice's own face mirrored his.

When the sound of close-erupting firecrackers boomed through the air, the crowd panicked. They scattered like flies, running wherever their feet could have taken them.

Alice followed suite. She vanished from where she stood, running without a destination nor thought in mind.

Rogue of the Night: Black Currant + Silver + Raven
Location: Paradise Forever
In Scene: Isaiah ( Lucem Lucem ) | Meirin ( QuirkyAngel QuirkyAngel ) | Kairong ( simj26 simj26 ) | Robin ( Anne Boolean Anne Boolean )

If Silver knew Meirin was in the room, he made no indication of it. No glances, no stares.

With Isaiah’s response about not ever wishing to threaten the workers, Silver’s expression softened slightly and he nodded. They had a history and Silver wasn’t going to break that on an assumption.

If you are… Just remember that I’ve known you since you were a child, Lil’ Isa. We wouldn’t be surviving in the East if it weren’t for the Dragon’s protecting our establishments.

Black Currant looked over at Isaiah and bowed ever so slightly, “Hello again.

Silver went over to the door, “If Black is comfortable to stay back with you, I do not have qualms about it. A manager needs to be willing to handle their own affairs, so I can handle the situation outside.

That’s when the gunshot from Eye of Providence could be heard. Silver frowned, looking briefly through the curtained window. “Please take care of them.” Them being Black Currant.

With that, Silver left the room.

~*~ Raven ~*~

Raven kept her gaze even with Kairong. She responded “Thank you” with his apology. If she had to admit it, she did rather take to his blunt-seeming nature.

As Robin spoke up, the dark-haired beauty took her attention over to him. “We wake up to find our establishment had a rather unfortunate incident, then an alert goes out not too long ago, warning about you and some of your others, then we find ourselves being snuck around by the very same Dragons that protect us? I heard a set of hidden footsteps and a body-less whisper earlier. Yes, I’d rather think we should be on alert.

She shrugged her shoulders coldly about hearing his story, “Maybe after everything is done, I’ll hear you out but it’s not in my nature to empathize.

A sound of a door opening caused Raven to look in the direction of the office.

Now approaching was Silver. He hid his hands in his sleeves, keeping his expression even.

Good evening. One of my staff came back to let me know that you are here.” His eyes flashed over to Kairong and he bowed, “Hello Sir. Forgive me, I recognize you but I fear I don’t remember the name. I’m Silver, manager of this establishment. What can I help you with?

"Eheh..." she clapped her hands together, "Right.." The woman exhaled out of her nose quickly, eyeing her and her coworkers' opponent. From hood to scythe, hers wasn't a very common look. Kind of like a cosplayer.

As if in response to that thought, the figure made a quick motion, Caomei could barely react to the flash of white hurled in her group's general direction. Light reflecting off metal.

A small hiss escaped her lips as she saw the knife make contact with Lorrin's arm. Even after working with him for a year, she could never get used to seeing him use his potential. It had its use, a good one, too, but, still. Hands instinctively holding her upper arms, she shuddered as she watched the wound light up. Yikes!

Caomei ran with her group, trying and failing to avoid bumping into civilians. Oh, balls, she's getting away. She watched Red bound from building to building, a trail of apologies following her as she tried to make her way through the crowd. She ran a hand through her hair, all she could do was hope that they were headed to a more open area. By then, she'd lost track of Omar, and could barely see Lorrin's green hair peeking out from the mass of people.

The sweet sweet chorus of madness was all she ever wanted to hear in her ears. Yes, this would be all she needed as a laugh bubbled up in her chest watching the two strangers flee. She took a sprint to the hole left by the two and shouted at the top of her lungs.

“You fucking pussies have fun getting eaten by the rats!”

She stood straighter as she kicked a rock into the hole leftover by the escape. She would continue to throw further expletives if not for the fact that they had a bigger job to get done here. She spun on her heel to face her tigers on the inside and smirked.

“Well? Get back to it!”

The deal came first. Especially now. Luckily she’d got not only one more tiger back but Reina was ready to continue their night of collections. She waved her free hand back and forth over her shoulder in a ‘oh well’ gesture.

“One or two idiots aren’t worth deviating from our plans. After all, this is just the first stop. Would suck to lose our claws in deals for some nosey punks.”

She made a gesture for Reina to follow her in as she dragged the scythe along the floor of the bowling alley. As she went further and further in she glared at HP and NP alike as she approached the boss. With a sweeping motion, she sliced a bench in two before the man who took to destroying his own chairs.

“Lookie, we can do that too! How about instead of you fucking up this place’s value even more you accept our generous offer of the low cost of 1000 Amestrican Yen for a partnership with Tigers?”

The number was a paltry amount but even worse while the original offer was the tigers buying off the place now that it was effectively fucked thanks to the gaping hole just outside of the establishment pouring sewer smell into the alley they were in the position to demand money for their aid. A dangling offer of the carrot and a scythe ready to be the stick should the idiot be bold enough to face the might of several tigers at once.

Shit. The knife thrown hit its target with full accuracy. She had no doubt in her mind that if he were aiming for her she would have been hit. Instead her hood was caught as the knife hit and the force threw her back. Unable to catch her footing she felt off the other side of the roof with a thud. Pain shot through her but a four story fall wasn’t the worst she’d had.

She pushed herself up struggling to right herself before the Dragons got to her. The crowd further surrounded her looking ever bit panicked as previously. She felt someone grab onto her red cloak as if trying to hold her as several others recorded. The sound of a cell phone connecting was played as the call continued on speaker phone

“715 whats your emergency”

She could have laughed at the irony of the call as the Dragons relied on the police to clean up their problems. It made it even easier as she started to twirl her scythe using the blunted edges to throw people out of her way.

“Move or die!”

She saw the crowd closing in and went to hop up to the roofs once more. She was safe in the skies. With a push of her heel she made an initial jump before jumping once more on the air itself lifting herself the rest of the way above the crowd and to the rooftop. Out of the corner of her eye she saw two of the previous dragons before. The man with the gun, and the girl. The third male seemed lost to the crowd.

“Relying on the police will get you nowhere. What has the police ever done for this city? I have a better idea. Cut your ties with the Dragons. Join the Cobalt wolves and mold this city to your wishes.”

From The Ashes
The sound of grieving phoenixes filled her ears before she truly saw Boltus appear. She let them have their moments. While she herself would be unable to properly mourn for the girl she had come to know through Alex’s sponsorship she could not bear to tell the others to ice their hearts. Still their grief could not pierce her stone facade lest she lose her credibility as leader. As always mourning would be had when they had secured their turf once more, lest she find the bodies of any more of their own joining the ranks.

“Hold your fire Blitz.”

Her tone was even. Enough to show that she welcomed his rage but disapproved of the lack of restraint. Fire would burn themselves apart if they did not temper the flames for when they had a clear target. She turned to him to look him in the eyes before speaking.

“Unknown. Right now everyone here is attempting to pick up the ashes of what has happened. Fox, Muskrat, and Panda are following the swarm of butterflies that appeared when Quetzal was dropped. However, for all of us to follow one lead could cause us to miss others.”

Her eyes scanned the area still looking for anyone who might have been acting suspiciously. The entire district was filled to the brim with Phoenixes. Either the assault was extremely bold or they were not alone. Either was a dangerous situation for younger phoenixes, especially with their numbers as reduced as they were.

“Whoever did this… they couldn’t have been working alone. I want every phoenix in the district to be on high alert. -‘Oi clear the area.”

At her words the phoenixes who were herding the civilian bystanders nodded their heads as they herded them off into nearby buildings. She spoke to the remaining Phoenixes, including the one that just debriefed her.

“This stays to the Phoenixes’ ears only. Pair them up, if you see a phoenix alone stick with them. There’s no way this killer was working alone. No one has that much of a death wish. So find me my threads to follow. I want not only Quetzal’s killer but the entirety of them torn down.”

The rage was barely contained in her voice as she trailed off into a growl. The Phoenix that debriefed her was quick to spread the word to the rest of the surrounding phoenixes as they began to scatter along the district.

PUMP UP THE VOLUME
Caio wasted no time hitting the acceleration one his serpents had filed in, barely waiting for them to get properly settled. The car crossed through their swamplands with ease proving that whichever of Yuudai’s cars he nabbed was well equipped. He heard Sang question about the Method to lure them in and felt himself scowl.

“Unfortunately with her? It matters.”

He slowed the car to a stop as they came upon the checkpoints for Serpent HQ.

“HEY. Circle up.”

He threw the doors open and climbed out coming up on the guards stationed. He made a motion for Yuto and Sang to hold off while he set shit up.

“Cops are on their way. I need ya’ll to prep three cars full of Serpents minimum. We’re going to lure them out to the docs. Keep that shit off radios. Keep a strong offense on the checkpoints too. Car one takes the checkpoint out behind us, don’t leave until five minutes have passed, keep a distance ready to surround whatever cops take the bait. Cars two and three take the side bridge out to the east and circle around the best you can before we jump them.”

He heard a newbie question just how they would lure them and heard an immediate smack telling him he wouldn’t need to waste time teaching them a lesson about questioning their queen. He barked out a rough laugh as he tossed them some of the experimental batch he’d last worked on.

“Don’t take that shit unless everything is fucked beyond getting out. Got it? Good, we’re out”

He went back to the car jumping back in the driver’s seat before slamming on the brakes to get to the docks as fast as they could force the car to go. Once the docks were in sight he stopped the car getting out.

“Do your best to find a good covered position. We’re going to be getting back up pretty soon but for the beginning we may be on our own.”

He took out a radio and flipped onto the frequency the police had made their own.

“Heya Captain Cutie? You came out to play again?”

His words came off with a biting sneer despite the familiarity laced in the sarcastic tone.

“I think I know your little aim here, come meet us by the docks and maybe you’ll have some luck for once. Or we could just let off some fireworks? Hows that sound?”

He wouldn’t actually think of setting off any bombs, they already had one ruined bridge but hell if she knew it. There were some serpents crazy enough to do it.

Training Day

As sharp teeth sunk into the flesh of her hand, Dimitri immediately felt the all too familiar feeling of siphoning blood from someone's veins. He didn't want to overstay his welcome, so after backing off he took a moment to savor the taste. Liquid red briefly trailed down his jaw, wiped away as Dimitri broke a grin that spoke of his satisfaction as he licked over dangerously sharp fangs. That was good.

Getting back into the thick of the fight, Dimitri's swings were a tad wild and quickly seen through despite landing blows. His face was seized, and Dimitri prepared to literally go for the throat as she closed in. Gauntleted hands prepared to commit an act of brutality, but never was allowed to execute the plan as just before her attempted kiss bore fruit the truck jostled with the landing if Vulken and they separated.

After the fiery string of events that led to Reika getting booted from the flatbed occured, Dimitri flicked his blade clean of the blood it had picked up before watching Reika already on her way back. "Nice kick! Ill take that as payback for hitting me earlier instead." He complimented the ex-Jack, letting out a light breath as the blood entered his system. The rookie felt the rush as he always did, and as the hurtling car shot at them, he waited. She said she was getting serious after all, so how could he not respect it?

At the last second and as Reika jumped from the vehicle, Dimitri jumped up and landed on the bridge railing, twirling twice and stepping along as the raging water below crashed against the supports. There seemed to be a commotion just to their side as the redhead glanced over; an overturned eighteen wheeler and pile up? Gunshots? Were those drones? He'd have to pay people later. His gun was still secured under his shirt and the other two didn't use guns here; it couldn't be them. "...No matter, let's do this! Dance with me!" Hopping to the top of one of the several now stationary cars given the violence on either end of the eighteen wheeler, Dimitri flourished his rapier and tapped his foot impatiently. Withdrawing a large vial of blood, he downed it in one before replacing the vial on his hip. Savoring the taste for a moment, he smiled as it hit his system. "Oh! And this time your blood tasted like....what is that healthy thing you guys eat? It tastes fresh?....Fruit! Like a very tasty blend of fruit and spices! I'd like to take some more, if you don't mind of course?" He goaded on, pointing the tip of his rapier at the bite wound on her hand before getting ready to fight once more.

ROGUE OF THE NIGHT
Each and every hearty laughter Reveler had ever released had been done in earnest. She relished the laugh, the moments of joy. And this time it was some sort of a guffaw. Loud, resounding, and at intervals, a sharp, piercing pitch was thrown in the mix. And this hyena-like expression, along with the little backward head-throwing bizarrely corrupted the gentle, self-centered youth she had been donning as a guise. There were many reasons for this sudden outburst. One of which was the little game Angel was having with the girl named Swallowtail. Amusing how she thought she could use a Dragon to deal with her business rival, not knowing in doing so she had put herself in danger. The Dragons, enraged and provoked, would not be so patient nor tolerant of the woman’s trifle ploy. But the chief reason of all was the knowledge that Reveler had picked the right one to interrogate.

At long last, Adonis settled down, seemingly having paid no attention to the gunshot. Kairong, Isaiah, and Meirin were outside, none of which should be troubled by something like a gunshot or two. And as for citizen casualties, Isaiah could take care of it. Every person has their concerns in life, and Adonis’ was not to rush to the rescue of some strangers in the middle of a mission.

“So you do know something. I don’t know if it would be useful, but this Swallowtail girl, ah, she could very well be the murderer. Missing? One better be missing if she has just wronged the Dragons. But this is priceless. I hadn’t very high hopes for this mission, but this could be something. Ah if I could have this information only for my own, and manage to track down this woman, I shall have at last some recognition from the top.”

Caught in his excitement, Adonis seized the woman’s shoulders. “No one can blame you for trying to help catch a murderer, isn’t it? But your aid I will remember. Consider it, no harm in being an up-and-coming Dragon’s woman! I know you want to, you are charmed by me, I know, and so am I! But tell me more about this Swallowtail: who is she? Where does she live? Was she friends with any of the girls here?”

MONEY TALKS
Ezra continued to smile as Titus begrudgingly pushed a large stack of chips to the side. Things were going well so far. While he and the others had only collected a little more than a tenth of the rotund man's winnings, it was only a matter of time until they took what was left. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one to make that observation.

Shortly after Cassidy won the round, a dark-haired woman approached the table, informing Titus that his car had arrived. The sweltering socialite was more than happy to take the out he'd been given, intent on escaping with his millions. The timing was quite convenient, his car happening to arrive when it looked like his riches would go back into the Tigers' coffers. Ezra already suspected that someone was feeding Titus information, and if he had to take a guess, the new arrival was one of his collaborators.

Ezra had been feeling oddly calm since he won the first hand, but now that a new problem had presented itself, he could feel the pressure returning. He and the others had yet to complete their mission, but they'd run out of time. This was his first big assignment, and he couldn't afford to let it end in failure. If he reported back to the boss or his father like this, he'd surely be on the receiving end of their wrath. That was something he had to avoid at all costs, but he didn't have any ideas on how to resolve the situation. No good ideas, at least.

Before anyone could make a move to keep the mark from slipping away, another person approached the table. The bald man stopped near Charmy and handed her a phone without saying a word. Shortly afterward, a familiar voice came from the speaker, demanding that Titus be brought to the one and only Tiger King. Now time was up for all of them.

Why had the boss suddenly called for Titus? Had someone from the casino told him about the current situation? Not much time had passed since the chauffeur arrived, so Ezra had his doubts. Although, it probably didn't matter very much. Regardless of the reason, Markus gave an order, and they had to follow it, even if there was some sort of punishment waiting for them. He wasn't looking forward to what was in store for him, and Charmy appeared to be just as displeased, considering she crushed the phone into bits.

Surprisingly, Titus didn't put up much of a fight. His eyes flitted between the two women next to him, as if he was trying to make a difficult decision, but he ultimately chose Charmy. It could've been because he feared what would happen if he rejected the King's invitation, but the way the portly man looked at his driver seemed odd. It was like he was just as scared of her as he was of leaving with a bunch of Tigers, as if he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The second Titus made his choice, the atmosphere seemed to change. Ezra had his eyes on the smile plastered across the woman's face, and it gave him a bad feeling. It was the same feeling he got from the fake smiles worn by those who had nothing but power and cruel intentions. He soon figured out why the expression rubbed him the wrong way, the woman letting it be known how she felt about Titus' decision.

In an instant, a sea of blood burst out from underneath Titus' chins, dying Alice and her blue dress a bright shade of red. As the man slowly collapsed, clutching at what remained of the tissue connecting his neck to his head, ripples formed in the wall he'd been looking at all night. Two men appeared from the liquid-like surface, each wearing a mask that seemed to be mocking the gambler's fate. Then they raised their weapons, prepared to fire on whatever or whoever got in their way.

Everything happened in quick succession, but time seemed to slow for Ezra as he processed what he saw. He'd suddenly been thrust into a war zone, the sound of gunfire and the panicked screams of the patrons ringing in his ears. It was the first time he'd witnessed something so horrific, but he remained unperturbed, not at all tempted to flee the scene like poor Alice. For an instant, a wave of emotions surged inside of him, but it dissipated, leaving him with an unnatural calmness. It felt like electricity went up his spine, traveling all the way to his brain to power the switch that had suddenly been flipped.

Almost no time had passed, and the dark-haired woman still charged at Titus. Rather than let her continue to carve into their mutual acquaintance, Ezra decided to cut in. Before the blade could tear into Titus' flesh once again, Ezra kicked the table that held up the man's ill-gotten gains, sending the stack of chips and Alice's tea flying. While the table landed between the woman and the others, cutting off her advance, Ezra grabbed his fellow cheater by his head. He pulled him closer and threw him to the Tiger's side of the wooden barrier, having no regard for his well-being as his chubby face rubbed against the carpet.

When Titus landed on the floor once again, his life-threatening injuries had miraculously vanished. His body had been repaired instantly, every piece of skin and drop of blood returning to its proper place. Even the stains on Alice's dress had peeled away and rejoined with the rest of the body. The man was as good as new, but if he had passed out from shock, it'd still be a while before he woke up. Although, that may have been for the best. Ezra didn't want to suffer through the fat bastard's whining. Pigs weren't supposed to speak in the first place.

As he knelt behind the table, Ezra reached for the holster inside of his blazer and withdrew his pistol. Turning off the safety, he positioned himself in front of Titus. He didn't like the idea of taking a bullet for the guy, but a table wasn't the best for defending against gunfire, and it wasn't like a bullet could hurt an HP. Not an ordinary bullet, at least. It was clear that Titus' friends in the wall were using a Potential to hide themselves, but he wasn't sure if the grumpy driver had one. Without that information, it was best to be on the safe side.

It was obvious that Titus had been working with these people, but they turned on him as soon as he decided to leave with Charmy. What was up with that? Did they feel like the bastard was trying to cheat them out of their cut? Maybe he got roped into doing this and they thought he'd squeal after rushing off to see the King. Titus did seem pretty scared of her, and Ezra heard about him making bad investments. Either way, the guy clearly pissed someone off. Besides him, of course.

"So, what should we do about this? Do we stick around to deal with these guys, or do we grab this one and make a break for it? I'll leave that for you veterans to decide, but we still need to do something about our runaway. I'd love to do it myself, but Titus here might get himself killed if I step too far away." If the others hadn't thought he'd been acting strange since the fighting began, the way he spoke may have done the trick. Everything about him was different from the nervous, polite young man who'd been playing cards all night. He acted like someone who was used to situations like these, or at least someone who was confident enough in their abilities to face them without worry.

With his free hand, he picked up a piece of the phone Charmy had crushed. A moment later, it was fully functional, only missing a small piece that Ezra decided to tuck inside his pocket. After putting the phone away with its remaining piece, Ezra grabbed Titus by the collar of his shirt and held him like a bag of luggage as he moved closer to the other Tigers. "Honestly, I'd rather not risk my life trying to keep him alive, but if the boss wants his prized pig, he'll get it."

As he threw the heavy man over his shoulder, blocking his vital areas with his own body, Ezra offered his other shoulder to Cassidy. "If you two are determined to fight this out, then feel free to take what you need. I think you'll find my skills to be more than satisfactory." It wouldn't hurt to have another healer at a time like this, and his combat skills would be an added bonus.

"Done. I can give you the money now since I actually came from the bank before getting here. So, done. Place is now Tiger territory." The boss said after a few seconds of silence and a long sigh. Glancing over at Wren, a look he had in his eyes made her tight lipped frown fade into a nod as she stood down.

He didn't want to deal with this mess and the fighting wasn't worth it even if the price was nothing more worth than a small notebook at your local store, in his eyes any price was worth it. Running a hand through his long black bangs, he merely turned around and stared with a neutral expression at the gaping hole just outside his building. With a shake of his head, he sighed. Fixing the place up as a whole was already going to cost much and if the rumors about the Tiger's were true it didn't really matter either way whether he was the one stuck doing the fixing or if they took some of the costs from his overall wages for this place. It just wasn't worth the danger.

"Was there anything else you wanted?" He asked, looking down at the Queen specifically and avoiding even a glance at the rest of her goons. Even if his tone now longer had the sharpness it previously had before- there was a tinge of acceptance to it.

While he waited for a response, Dante kindly took August's offer. Even if the scent didn't bother him that much- he could still smell it. So he took the offer and lightly pressed the item to his own nose. Dawning the kitty mask with the casualness of someone who wasn't in a ruined building and stench infested area, engaged in a tense situation. With the kitty mask on Dante turned his attention back to the issue at hand. Arms loosely crossed.

Akane Miyazaki

"Pretty, white hair, and cloudy eyes," Akane repeated. "Is he old?" Despite what the white hair would depict, calling him pretty seemed to contradict that. Then again maybe Catherine's type was silver foxes. If he was, that could narrow things down, but if not, like the woman said, white hair wasn't exactly uncommon in the days of dye and potentials.

It seemed his eyes would be their best bet to identify him, at least when it came to physical features. As Catherine continued her description, Akane visualized a well-dressed man with a swagger in his step and a lack of tact in his speech. That could still be a few hundred people at the nightlife district on any given night. That being said, apparently he wasn't around during the time the usual party-goers were. Perhaps their pool of people ot pick from would be smaller than expected. He also kept a distance from others according to Catherine, yet he fought like a ruffian. So the best way to identify him and get information from him may be to engage him in a fight. That wasn't Akane's forte. She'd leave that to one of her comrades.

As for the way he makes animals act... well, she got the bit about the glowing red eyes from the pictures, but perhaps the bit Roland added in about them being aggressive could be helpful. Although apparently they weren't as hostile towards Catherine. Could there be more of a connection with Roland and this man then he was letting on?

For the next bit, Akane turned to Noland. "Did they seemed more... organized than what a bunch of wild animals would?" she asked Hector seemed curious about this as well, although she believed more specific questions lead to more specific answers. "As in, did it seem like they were able to work together more cohesively than a flock of birds, and did it seem like they were trying to achieve more than just finding dinner for the night?" Maybe this man's abilities went deeper than just enraging the animals around him.

Before she got an answer, the woman felt her phone go off in her pocket. "Sorry. It's the boss," she said before pulling it out and reading the message. Butterflies was the first word that caught her eye. She glanced over to Catherine once again, and the blind man they had been talking about immediately came to mind. Did his powers extend to insects as well?

As she was about to put the phone away, it buzzed once more in her hand, causing her brow to furrow in annoyance. She had been doing her job well and good for many years, so why now did Lyric feel like she needed to micromanage? She was planning on simply ignoring the message until Hector tapped her on the shoulder and signaled to his own phone. Despite the stern look on his face, she had to hold back a sigh as she went to check it. If it was so important, why didn't Lyric just include it in the message bef- the woman's eyes widened at the words on the screen. She blinked as she read them again.

Death. It was part of the job. She dealt with it on a regular basis and tried to keep herself distance from her comrades knowing it could come for them any day. Yet when it happened, it still always hurt. And Nina of all people. Sweet, dumb, chaotic Nina. Just earlier that bird brain ordered a sack of potatoes and cheese from a restaurant, and from what Akane knew, the worst she did was steal and horde shiny things of varying value.

Why her of all people!? Why not their power-hungry King?! Why not their hot-and-cold Queen!? There were so many people more deserving of being cut down than Nina! Even Akane herself was on that list! Sadly though, life wasn't fair, and the world had a way of reminding her of that every so often.

She took a deep breath as Hector cut their questioning short. "Sorry, something has come up," she explained to the two friends. "Thank you for your time. Stay safe. If you find yourselves in trouble, please ask for Alibi of the Phoenixes. I'll see what I can do. Your loyalty is important to us and won't go unrewarded."

She then stepped away before tapping on her earpiece. "Greed. Is Spellbinder the only casualty on your end? If so, please check your texts as soon as possible and respond. If not... " If not, she certainly felt some type of way about him not starting with that. "... if not, please tell us your location ASAP."

Yong-yut dragged behind on her way over to Lyric and the body of Nina. At the sight of the corpse, she felt a little sorrow. Even if she didn’t know Quetzal personally, it was still an unfortunate death. The poor fellow phoenix’s life, taken like that. It’s a shame. Her eyes scanned over the body, her head slightly tilted towards Lyric. Though she was mostly taking the moment to think to herself, Lyric had most of her external attention.

At the command of clearing the area, she turned around. Her arms crossed as the footfall of the leaving crowd of civilians faded. Looking past Lyric as the phoenixes guided the civilians, they noticed Bolti- Boltius? They weren’t aware he’d be here. You’d think she’d notice him earlier, with how loud he was a moment ago. Oh, the bliss of living in your own headspace. She cleared her throat to themself, taking a step back, and deciding to ignore the man’s existence.

Looking down, and then back up, she redirected her attention to the order Lyric was giving out.

-Don’t be alone
-Find leads to Quetzal’s murderers.
-Avenge her

Easy enough. Well, compared to other things they could be doing right now. They looked around as the phoenixes in the vicinity scattered.

...

And now she doesn’t know what to do. She stood off to the side of the remaining phoenixes, grabbing onto their own arms. She seemed a bit confused. By a bit, I mean, a lot. Where should she look? What if she and whoever she’s with gets hurt? What are they supposed to be looking for in particular? Vague instructions were, in fact, not Yong-Yut’s strong point.

Okay, Yong-Yut. New plan. Just for you.
-Don’t be alone
-Figure out WHAT to look for
-THEN find leads.
-Then avenge her

Sure. Because that’s less vague.
She furrowed her brow, criticizing their own thoughts.

Ultimately, she just awkwardly waited for further instruction. She made a faint effort to look around the immediate area, but it was clear that she definitely did not know what she was supposed to be doing.

Oops.

That was the only word that played in Vulken's mind as his shin slammed into the side of his Queen's head, sending her body flying off of the bed of the truck and into a moving car not too far behind him. He cringed at the sight of the woman's impact against the vehicle, and his eyes followed it as it quickly came to an abrupt stop. Hopefully, he wouldn't be on the receiving end of vehicular bad luck anytime soon for causing that accident to happen. A bead of sweat formed on his forehead, but it evaporated as soon as it had appeared due to the amount of heat that was emanating off of him.

Vulken was forcefully pulled out of his growing pit of worry by Dimitri, who had complimented his assault on Reika, and decided that he would hold off on getting his 'payback' on him, whatever that may have been. "Thanks," he muttered, feeling his temperature rise by the second as he spoke. "Didn't mean to hit you, y'know. I was just a little annoyed. I planned on gettin' outta this 'training' shit the lazy way." He went to reach in his jacket's pocket for a cigarette, only for him to remember that he had left it on the floor of the truck. When he looked over to where he had dropped it, he noticed that it wasn't there anymore. In fact, it was on the ground behind them, not too far from the car that Reika had hit. Speaking of...

Where was the car that Reika hit?

He could do nothing but let out a mild sigh as his gaze set onto the car, quickly driving towards them, with a red-haired maniac standing on top of it with her hands facing the sky above them. At least, it seemed pretty fast at that moment, because the truck they had converted into an arena came to a violent, abrupt stop.

"Looks like we're not done, kid--"

The truck stopping forced Vulken to jerk backward and trip over his own feet, causing him to stop bracing himself for the inevitable crash that was about to occur, but it was the impact from the car Reika had ridden into them like a dragoon on the battlefield that finally caused him to completely lose his footing and fall off, onto the asphalt beneath them. He felt the pain from smacking straight into the ground course throughout his whole body as he rolled along, finally coming to a complete stop a few seconds after making his crash-landing. Scraped up, and definitely bruised in areas he didn't bother checking, he slowly rose to his feet, and turned around to see what the reason for the stop was.

If it were the fault of the vehicle's operator, Vulken would probably have killed him right then and there. Luckily, the truck driver was long gone by the time he recovered from his fall. The familiar sound of gunfire rang from further up the bridge, and, while very few things managed to surprise Vulken anymore, the sight before him prompted a puzzled eyebrow-raise.

"What... the fuck???"

His neck nearly snapped due to the speed his head whipped to face Dimitri, who was speaking as though he still planned on kicking Reika's crazy ass instead of addressing the situation in front of them.

"Woah, woah. WOAH." He exclaimed, holding his hands out between both of them, like a beast-tamer trying to calm his... well, beasts. "Don't you two wanna, I dunno-- check out whatever the fuck is goin' on over there? " His finger pointed to the downed truck and the now-wet segment of the bridge. "Dunno about you guys, but I'm startin' to get really fuckin' annoyed. And I'd much rather take it out on whoever-- or WHATEVER the hell caused that than on either of you!" The area around him suddenly grew much hotter in comparison to how it had been when he had first activated his potential. Stage 2 was at his fingertips, but he held off on his burst of heat. It would be much more useful against the dickhead who caused his grand fall.

"HEY!" He shouted ahead of them while storming forward, hints of rage causing his exclamation to sound even more violent. He continued to scream, unable to discern whether or not his words would be audible beneath the gunfire and other sounds of battle. "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOIN' ON OVER THERE?! ANSWER ME, NOW!"

PHOENIX'S
LOCATION:
South District
PARTICIPANTS:
Hector ( WhiskeyMarten WhiskeyMarten ), Akane ( Anne Boolean Anne Boolean ) || Hide ( Caffeine_Obsessed Caffeine_Obsessed ), Alex ( Tobi Naefaerne Tobi Naefaerne ), Helva (@Peckinou)
A GATHERING STORM [LOWLIFE]
Catherine leaned back on her crate when Hector questioned further about the man’s eyesight with a pout on her face. What was she a doctor now too? Sure she may have loose lips but she’d never willingly spread something she didn’t assume was true. Luckily Akane’s questions seemed far more amiable and she couldn’t help but feel a kinship with the other woman.

“I mean the man’s eyes are cloudy and I’ve heard people ‘ave seen em walk into a goddamn street pole so I can only assume he is. Apparently he doesn’t carry’a walking stick which just sounds flat out stupid. Could be recently blinded I suppose. Certainly not old, in his what twenties? Max?”

For as much as she seemed to know it was clear she went to defer to Noland on areas hoping for further insight to the man than her own glances had provided her. As Akane questioned further he chimed in more having dealt more with the animals than the man himself.

“It really depended. At first it was like the fuckers had mad cow disease circling themselves and acting ready to goddamn die. More ‘n more though it seemed they were coming to some sense of planning, acting smarter than some birds I’ve seen before. Unfortunately, I can’t say I noticed much else.”

He tipped his hat forwards like he was worried it wouldn’t be enough but Catherine made a waving motion with her hand as if negating his concerns.

“For all we know he’s just an idiot but-”

She cut herself off as she saw Hector’s attention wander. He seemed to pull out his phone before scanning the skies. She took a moment to glance at Noland who was little help as he merely shrugged wanting to get on with his day sooner rather than later. Akane saw fit to explain to them what had gathered their attention at least. She would have leaned over to read the phone if not for the man quickly directing another question and a half their way, their boss was an interest and a half for her.

“A threat? I don’t suppose-”

She would have continued if not for Hector’s seemingly frantic playing with the phone at his end. He quickly tossed the other questions out the door as moved like he was getting ready to square up. She threw herself up doing her best to get into a position to run if it came to it. Noland was quick to push his way up only stopped by Catherine’s hand shooting out to block him. She looked Hector straight in the eyes as she continued.

“Aa- I suppose that was er last wednesday? Scuttling round the docks, took a ship upta central last I saw. S’meth’ng change? We got a problem after all?”

Akane’s smoothing over of the situation of course was a welcome sight for the two business partners. Catherine managed to ease some of the tension in her shoulders even as Noland looked ready to push them both in the harbor to avoid the gaze of Hector’s.

“Of ‘urse Miss Alibi. Nice ta be able to help ya know. Hey if ya need anything more I’ll keep an ear to the ground f’r ya.”

BOLTIUS

Vulken's Little Bro
"BLITZ"

"Hold your fire Blitz," says Lyric, the respected King of the Scarlet Phoenixes.

Easier said than done, Boltius bites his tongue. To settle himself down, he allows a rush of coolness throughout his body, shutting his eyes tightly as he does and trying to blink the image of Nina away.

He didn't know her well, but she was a comrade.

Lyric tells of Fox, Muskrat, and Panda pursuing a suspicious swarm of butterflies that appeared when Nina was dropped, and Boltius listens closely. He can't imagine that Nina died from a mere fall, especially considering the state of her corpse. A drop from the sky wouldn't particularly foster such twisted injuries.

"Whoever did this… they couldn’t have been working alone. I want every phoenix in the district to be on high alert," Lyric continues, giving orders to the surrounding Phoenixes.

Finding the first pause in her speech, Boltius steps forward with a fist at his heart, speaking loudly with passion, "Did you see where the swarm came from, Boss!? Wherever it came from, let me check it out! I'll find whoever did this and put an end to'em! Don't want me goin' alone? I'll take her with me!" Boltius throws a finger at a nearby rookie with long, oceanic hair and a masculine taste in attire.

Under different circumstances, he might be inclined to compliment the woman, to pay mind to her beauty which obscures the rest of the Phoenixes around her. But perhaps later...

For now, Boltius stares up at Lyric with an unwavering intensity, ready to pounce in any immediate direction based on her answer.
