As with all things, the peace and quiet had to end. Everyone had finished eating, so now it was time to corral the children back into the car, to everyone’s dismay.
In time, everyone was in their seats and buckled up once again.
Another nap passed the rest of the trip by.
hoOOOONNNKKKKK
Taut seatbelt caught a small torso as it jutted forward. Wide, silver eyes darted across the car, catching a glimpse of the outside. Concrete spanned for yards, with the signature parking lot white lines marking it. Her breathing slowed to normal as she looked up to her mom in the front seat who was muttering in another language.
She quickly turned to Markus, pulling lightly at his sleeve over and over. She kept pulling at it even after she got his attention, though she directed him to look out the window, pointing …pointedly.
Large cartoon giraffe and tree signage sat upon the entrance to the zoo. The whole ensemble towered over the parking lot. People were heading in in droves. That probably meant a long wait, but that was a sacrifice Yong-Yut was willing to make.
Eventually, the car parked once again, and Yong-Yut’s hands were shmoovin’, erratically shaking with excitement. That didn’t last for very long, however, as her mom reached backwards to stop her. Yong-Yut lowered her hands to her lap.
Unbuckling and finally escaping the car, she stuck to her friend like glue as they made their way to the entrance.
Decha smiled at the younger kids, casually pointing at Markus. “Which animal’re you most excited for, Mark? I think I wanna see the giraffes.” He chuckled, placing his hands on his hips. “I don't think Silver has a preference.”
“Why go to a zoo when she could just see you, then?” Chet tilted his head as though he was genuinely asking. His brother waved his hand with a roll of the eyes.
Yong-Yut looked towards Markus, eager for his answer. “Are you excited…? For the zoo…” she asked, adding onto the question before.
